Often call in for a coffee and a light bite. Girls who serve are always friendly, and the place is always clean and tidy. Good value for money, and a loyalty scheme in place to tempt you back.

Clearly catering to the elderly and very expensive. Lots of pointless kitchen equipment. DIY items seem to be secondary to their cafe and cook shop. Staff very chatty, some seem knowledgeable but others (mainly youngsters ) clearly haven’t a clue and can’t even direct customers to the correct area of the store! Family business seems to have overreached itself.

As it happened I needed to sort out my Brush Cutter and my wife said why don’t we have a snack once we had finished. What a delightful experience the Cafe at Masseys is. Great snack menu, quality food at reasonable prices served by very nice people. The shop itself is quite amazing but the next time I’m passing, I may just drop in for a Sausage and Egg Cobb.

Been around for years, great little hardware shop for all your needs, if you ask a question they are normally able to help and in some cases solve a problem, a little expensive but cheaper than having to make a special trip to a chain store in a larger town

Despite its odd situation, this cafe is certainly worth calling in. Spotting it a day or two ago, we did pop in today for tea and toast. Signage is short but the rattle of teaspoons does draw upstairs. The menu is extensive, with breakfast and related items being at good prices. The lunch menu was extensive also well priced. Speciality teas are available, good news for those who required decaffeinated tea. Decaf coffee is also available. Cakes and tray bakes also there, alongside toast and crumpets if you dare! Commenting on the range of foods being available, the assistant told us that all foods are fresh and locally sourced in the main. Everything was spotlessly clean - it all looks new and fresh. The 5* hygiene rating was clearly displayed, along with a free wifi notice, with password included there. Window seats give a good view of the surrounding area, with sit on mowers surrounding you inside. A customer ift is there for those not wishing to use the staircase. Toilets may be there but w could not find them today. Sorry if they are there and signage wasn't seen. A lovely shop altogether, worth popping in - and making an excuse to do so if not using the shop itself.

Small coffee shop situated up stairs in the main Massey shopBecause of small kitchen area menu a little restrictive and in my opinion a bit of the expensive side eg English breakfast at £5.99 Clean and tidy

This is a regular coffee stop for us now. There are loads of options around and about, but for a quite drink and bit to eat this takes some beating.I must say I laughed when I first heard the cafe had opened here, how wrong I was!All drinks and food we have had are to a good standard and well priced. The staff are polite and friendly.Don't just call for a pot of paint, have a drink and something to eat.

We have been in many times and we have never been disappointed with the quality of the service or food here. We now go to have lunch even if we have no need to shop in the store. We have sampled the breakfast items and lunches. All delicious. There is a good choice of lunch items, including baguettes, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, paninis and there is also a specials board. I particularly like the cheese scone with bacon. There is a good selection of coffees, teas and soft drinks and the cakes always look tempting. At lunch there are deserts on offer as well. There is plenty of parking available. A great place to eat or have coffee.

Not too long ago Masseys, a Swadlincote ironmongery, moved to a smart new shop. To be honest it is the last place you would expect to find a smart, almost chic coffee shop. Granted, it is unusual to enjoy excellent toasted paninis and sandwiches with powered lawnmowers and garden furniture as a backdrop, but here you can do just that . The small bistro style restaurant occupies the front of the first floor with large windows making it a light and airy place to take a break. It is comfortably furnished in a modern style and it doesn't feel like you are eating your lunch in an ironmongers shop. All the food is freshly prepared by a small friendly team who are very proud of everything they offer. From early morning breakfast rolls to light lunch items right through to homebaked cakes and delicious cream scones this little bistro offers it all. Fresh coffee, hot chocolate and various fine teas are amongst the fine beverages on offer. Well appointed Ladies and Gentleman's toilets are on the ground floor. The shop has a lot of nice housewares for sale, so even if tins of paint, electric drills and assorted tools don't tempt you, then pretty mugs, kitchen tools and baking equipment might well do! This is one of Swad's well kept secrets but it is well worth discovering.

Stopped at Masseys to buy staples, unfortunately I'm a type 1 diabetic and my blood sugar rapidly dropped. I asked the cafe staff if they had any sugar and they couldnt have been more helpful! They offered me coke and jam on toast and flapjacks and sugar sachets, all free of charge! (Of course I didn't need ALL of that!) It's a huge relief to know that there are such helpful people in the world. Give these staff a raise!

The staff are delightful; friendly and helpful. The cafe offers great light lunches etc and exceedingly delicious cakes with a wide choice of both. However, the coffee brand used isn't as good as it looks, rather sludgy and not particularly pleasant to taste. This needs to be changed. I like my coffee strong and full bodied but this doesn't fit the bill. I am local to the shop and have friends who have said the same. I don't drink tea so a bit stymied!

A coffee shop in a hardware store is a description that doesn't do it justice. Certainly you have a good view of the lawnmower department to one side but the massive glass frontage creates a light, bright coffee shop. The staff were very friendly, and we ordered coffees, a tea cake and a sausage cob which were good quality and great value. We will be back.

Second visit to this coffee shop inside the local DIY store. The staff are fabulous! Super friendly and just so lovely. Panini was tasty but a little something extra such as crisps on the side would have been cracking. Bacon and egg roll/cob/bap (depending where you're from) was ok but the bacon was a bit tough. Good choice of coffees and leaf teas. The home made cakes are delicious and worth going just for those. Free WiFi and a fab kitchen shop downstairs make it an ideal place to spend a couple of hours in peace!

Firstly, Massey's is a brilliant place with a lot of extremely good quality tools and equipment for sale but it's a fair trek for us to get there so being able to have a coffee when we get there or are passing is quite useful and was a great idea by the owners. We've had drinks in the cafe a few times and their coffee is very good but it's also a great place to abandon teenagers with a drink and free wifi while you browse the store and talk to the knowledgable staff. This time we were a bit peckish and decided to have some food and ordered a panini each which was delicious and came with a side salad. There's a reasonable amount of choice on the menu including jacket potatoes, sandwiches, pasties and other bits. The only thing missing from the menu that I would have liked was chips! We keep going to Massey's for garden and DIY stuff so I've no doubt that we'll be eating here again.

Not only do you have the benefit of a lovely coffee shop serving excellent home made cakes, paninis, sandwiches and breakfasts etc, but this little gem is located in the best hardware store I have ever encountered - and has free wi-fi. Forget B&Q, Wickes and the other mass-produced over priced DIY chainstores. For personal service, quality goods and friendly helpful staff, look no further than Masseys. That goes for the Hardware store as well as the coffee shop!
