I was really impressed by all aspects of my visit to Augusto!! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and really tasty food!! I went for the special of the day, which was pizza with a squash base (you need to try it!) smoked Scamorza cheese and Italian sausage, which is really impressive. It was fairly quiet, so i got to speak to the staff and was treated like part of the family. Will go again without a doubt!

49 Bridge Street Row East, EnglandWe stumbled across Carbonara at No 49 by chance, when we visited Chester, and what a hidden gem it turned out to be. We dined there for lunch and ordered from the lunch menu. The service was fantastic, and the food was delicious and authentic. The owner chatted to us about the food, as we were asking a few questions, and even showed us around the upstairs of the restaurant, where you could see all the old beams etc. Great place and one we will be visiting again when we return to Chester.

Chester, CH1 1DF 33 Pepper Street Pepper Street, EnglandDelightfully different Mediterranean menu from a range of different countries, well cooked and presented. The Artezzan has a lovely buzz to it and the service was just perfect. So why only four stars when everything else was five. Well we were given the table for only an hour and a half, not enough time. Shame really.

52 Northgate Street, EnglandGood reviews encouraged us to call in for wine. However wine of choice not available and we prefer an establishment where the toilets flush and the climb to the toilets is not helped by exceptionally sticky handrails. Not for us. Back to Paysan !

63 Bridge Street, EnglandWe were enjoying the tasting menu until the belly pork came which was inedible as it was so tough. We told the waiter and he said he informed the Chef who said it could have done with longer cooking and sent her apologies. The rest of the meal was pleasant. As we could not eat this course I felt we should have been given a refund for it. We paid £80 each for seven tasting courses of which we could only eat six. I asked Fabrizio and he said that he would not do this and that I could talk all night about it but he would not reduce the bill. This is not what I would expect from any restaurant but obviously he doesn’t care about his customers being happy. It spoiled our evening as we felt unfairly treated.

2 Abbey Green, Rufus Court, EnglandThe three of us were expecting the daytime half price menu deal until the charming waitress/manager Nella explained that this only applied on Saturday and Sunday but, it being Friday, we could have the two course special menu for £25 (including a full sized bottle of wine!) instead. Basic arithmetic indicated that this deal was approximately half price. All of our food was excellent and efficiently served with the house red being very much to our liking. Well done Nella and the other staff. We will be back on our next trip to Chester in early December.

Chester Market Hunter Street Exchange Square, EnglandOrdered gnocchi. Uncertain as to whether was due to them being busy or is their usual portion. Got about 12 gnocchi portions. Appreciate authentic Italian is small portion but equated to about a pound a gnocchi. Complete rip off. Plenty of nice places in the market that offer better food and better value for money.
