The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

Had a lovely lunch at Bancone for a catch-up with friends and the experience was great from start to finish. The atmosphere was relaxed and not too busy — perfect for chatting over good food. We shared the burrata, cauliflower salad, and sourdough to start. For mains, we had the silk handkerchiefs, cacio e pepe, prawn agnolotti, and gnocchi — every dish was delicious, with the gnocchi and stracciatella being the standout. Service was excellent. Our waitress Urooj was warm, knowledgeable about the dishes, and made sure our drinks were always topped up. The wait time between courses was minimal, and plates were cleared promptly, keeping everything flowing nicely. Would definitely recommend Bancone for a chilled, high-quality lunch in the city.

I've reviewed this restaurant before but after a fantastic meal last night am reviewing it again. Usually go with the whole family but yesterday went with my husband for his birthday and we had the best burger (him beef, me chicken) with delcious truffle oil fries that we can remember! Also had fried Mozzarella and prawn and gnochi starters which were enjoyed too. Our server was very pleasant and helpful , the drinks were cold, the atmosphere was good (it was quite busy for a Tuesday evening) and service was quick. Am definitely going to return soon. I have a taste card so get the advantage of 2 for 1 midweek but if we fancy a meal at the weekend I am happy to come here and pay full price. Was looking to see why the 1 star reviews and most of them seem to date from a period around Sept/October 2021 when they maybe had staffing problems, would recommend you give it a chance if you haven't been before.

Order from prezzo from time to time mainly when there is a deal on through one of the many delivery sites. The pizza is always great quality and tasty and they have white pizza Bianco options that I really like. The garlic bread with caramelised onion is always lovely too, this said if we had to pay full price I would buy elsewhere as there are various pizza options locally. But if there is a deal and its the same price I would recommend you give it a try.

Ambiente accogliente, molto bravi tutti e proprietario molto gentile. Ho mangiato un’ottima pasta insieme a mia mamma, se dovessi mai ripassare da Chippenham Sì andrei di nuovo sicuramente!

We were given water but no glasses. My granddaughter was given her pizza, the waiter came over and asked if we were finished. My daughter and I hadn’t even received our meal. The pasta I ordered tasted very strange. We were not offered any Parmesan with our pasta. We had to ask for knives and forks.

Amazing freshly cooked food. Excellent value. Kids meals are very reasonable and good portion sized. Smash burgers are a big hit with the family.

The gent who greated us at the door was very hostile and rude. Had the feeling he didn't want to be there at all and was the same when seeing us out. The food was mediocre and the atmosphere was ruined by the feeling that it was a burden us prebooking a table that were shoved together and not even level. Over all an underwhelming experience

Firstly, the staff were so rude, we were waiting for ages for someone to notice us. Then they forgot to put our order through which I understand but after it finally came out it was left on the side for 10 minutes to go cold. It was then brought over to us and the food was not nice at all. It wasn’t even busy but the service was terrible and the 2 members of staff just looked so unhappy.

Our 1st visit to Don Beni's Winkfield restaurant. Heard a lot about it over the years, so finally visited for an early dinner Sunday. It's a sweet restaurant, nice décor, very friendly staff. Good variety on the menu, pizzas were excellent, Moretti on draught. We will definitely return soon. Highly recommend.

Went for granddaughters birthday food was great drinks went down well and female restaurant worker was exceptional always had smile on her face and tended to every need few problems sorting the bill out but got sorted in end al in all a great night

I visited the restaurant on Saturday 25th Feb as part of a large group (50+people). Now I understand that 50 people arriving at the same time is a bit of a nightmare but, as I understand it, Marco was given all of our menu choices in advance. Anyway, we arrived at 7pm and received our starter at 8.20pm. This wasn't a huge issue as we were enjoying the company of our friends, however as the night went on it meant that some had finished their meals and others hadn't even had their mains, some never got them and left. The waitresses did their best to calm the waters and generally the mood was OK despite the obvious problems. The food when it did arrive was acceptable, but I had expected slightly better than acceptable to be honest. We asked for parmesan and was told there wasnt any tonight. Some on our table didn't eat their mains as they said it was bland and left before their deserts. As I say, I get 50 people is a bit of a logistical nightmare but surely the restaurant should have been prepared for that? All in all I would advise not to visit if you're in a large group.

Had been recommended to visit. Atmosphere of staff was not a happy team, but efficient. Starter:garlic bread was lovely Main chicken appollo appeared like it was a ready meal, not that tasty. Chips:very poor. Took on the appearance of oven chips Dessert: pancake, disappointed it was not warm, in fact it looked and tasted like a fresh shop version and certainly not made on the premises. Pour quality chocolate sauce. Better pancake at a farm shop in honingham with excellent presentation and taste. We were presented with our bill followed by a prompt “ are you ready to pay” For what we thought would be the real Italian experience, we were disappointed. £40 including 1 sift drink. Better eateries on the same street so we won’t be returning.

We opted for pasta and although I know what we ordered, I am not overly sure what we got ! My favourite dish normally comes with a sauce....this was just overcooked pasta. Very very disappointed. Paid and left and will never ever go back.

Really cool and funky interior, brilliant food, excellent service (especially from the doctor, best waiter ever!!!)
