We visited this restaurant for my wife’s birthday. In summary: The wine list is small and was reduced further due to lack of stock. The Sardi bread was over cooked The meats on the platter were like eating old leather. The pasta dishes were tiny potions that lacked flavour and substance. If you are looking for a nice Italian/ Sardinian restaurant don’t consider here you will be disappointed.

The service was extremely slow. The starters and main courses all arrived at the same time, apart from one meal which took another 15 minutes. Everything was cold. The octopus starter was a tiny portion served on some slimy, soggy discs of an unidentifiable stodge, presumably to make it look more. The crab linguine was under seasoned to a point of blandness. There was no apology for the delay. This used to be a good restaurant. It is now a bad one.

Set in a side street near Warren Street tube station Sardo had a welcoming feel on a miserable Thursday evening in November. The room is nicely fitted out and on our visit reasonably busy with dinners making for a nice atmosphere along with excellent staff. The food is based on Sardinian cooking and the 2 pasta dishes we ate were excellent. Portions are not large so if you are hungry you might need a starter or the bread and olives option. The wine list climbs quickly though the house red was enjoyable and worked with our food - the staff were lovely. For the area and standard of cooking prices are fair with our meal coming in at £104 for 2 including wine and service. Do try it and we look forward to returning.

Este restaurante ahora se llama "La Tagliata", ya que ha cambiado de manos, por lo que posiblemente sea el único que haya mesas cerca los viernes por la noche. Used to be Sardo. A nice Italian (Sardinian influenced) restaurant which had good days and bad days!! Now reopened as La Tagliata. Tested La Tagliata this week to mixed reviews round my table. The place empty with two staff and still the service was very slow. I started with prosciutto and mozzarella. Not great but okay. Two slices of the prosciutto were too thick and dry, My colleagues had the Melanzane and were very happy. I then had the lamb with lentils. Bizarrely the lentils were way too under-cooked yet the lamb overcooked and tough! Oh well! My colleagues had different pastas and seemed okay. I recommend the Winkl Sauvignon Blanc we tried which was excellent. I thought quite pricey. I will go back when it has settled down a bit.

We went for an end of week supper and the food was to the usual high standard. However, one incident impressed me.
I had asked the waitress to recommend a good white wine as I was on unfamiliar with Sardinian wines. She brought a bottle which I tasted and approved, having commented that the wine had a distinctive taste and was slightly 'frizzante'. We started our meal, and a few moments later the waitress reappeared with the second bottle of the same wine which she proceeded to open and asked me to compare it with the first wine. The waitress remarked that she was concerned with my previous comments regarding the wine, and thought that the first bottle may have been corked. We kept the second bottle.

Sometimes a last minute choice can help you find an absolute gem, and that was the case here. I can't understand why it wasn't busier on a Thursday night in the West End. I have a simple bread and olives test in a restaurant, if they can't get that right then it's going to be a long evening, thankfully Sardo had some of the best Sardinian flat bread I've had outside Sardinia!
The crab and chilli linguini wasn't as spicy as the one I make, but still packed a punch and plenty of flavour, whilst the sea bass was cooked beautifully. I had a lunch with a friend before he left London for a number of months, maybe forever.
The ambiance at Sardo was perfect for a proper good catch-up and chat, even if the restaurant was fairly busy.
The food was very good, I think I am a fairly good judge as I am Sardinian and Sardo serves mainly Sardinian cuisine. We shared a fish platter - three different type of fish carpaccio - followed for me by lamb thinly sliced steaks + grilled zucchini (yummy, a bit salty for me but I don't use salt anymore), a generous portion, my friend had to help. He had grilled swordfish - yummy. We shared a seadas, a typical Sardinian desserts, kind of a fried puff pastry filled with cheese and covered in honey. A very generous portion.
One small glass of house white for me, two large glasses of house red for mine friend, one espresso, one macchiato: £ 50 each. We could have easily shared the main. I was stuffed all day and only had a tiny dinner.
I will definitely go back but probably order less food. The main and the dessert were more than enough.

Service was efficient and friendly, and the restaurant was quiet, which enabled a decent discussion with my colleagues. We decided to share the cheese plate afterwards, and this was less exciting and rather small, however the rest of the desert menu did look good, and in a future visit I would sample from that! Coffees were well made. The bill was about normal for this part of town, not cheap but not over priced. Would definitely consider visiting again, particularly with business guests/colleagues.

Since our visit in Italy we remember that Sardinian food has some twists in it not find in our Italian kitchens. We were very happy to find this restaurant that preserves the originality of this cuisine yet with some more. Out raw fish antipisati including carpaccio of octopus and swordfish was amazing, the pasta with crabmeat was unique with the typical type of pasta, olive oil and herbs found in the south of Italy. My wife had a tender beautiful swordfish steak while my heavily garlic treated lamb was a delicacy. I think they have had a change of staff recently, since my last trip some months ago. They were very cordial as always, but a bit less focused than previous visits and it was difficult to get their attention sometimes. A dish was sent back because it was cold. Also, we were in the rear of the restaurant which is quite confined and very noisy, especially when full in the first part of the evening. Lovely ambience and the waiting staff/service were delightful. The wine was a little pricey and the selection was small but what they had was very good - mainly if not all Sardinian wines. 7 of us including children were accommodated in the evening with typically Italian good grace and smiles. The children were served a simple pasta pomodoro which was in fact excellent and should be one of the 'specials'. As for the food: starters were good, but the attention to detail was missing - vegatali misti was nice but the slices of pepper were too thick and serving looked a little 'clumsy'. My wife and friends had calamari and the minced meat stuffing could have done with a bit more seasoning and needed more time under the grill. The main was very nice - in fact the pigeon breast and potatoes gratin was an excellent choice. The pasta with lobster tail was also very good but needed a bit more 'punch' on seasoning. The breadth of the menu is broad enough to cater for anyone's taste. Make sure you order bread/olives - beautiful Sardinia in a basket! All in all - very good and with a bit more detail would be a 'great'. I'll definitely go back. £300 for 4 starters, 7 main, 4 prosseco, water, wine and bread/olives. Great value.

Sardo offers up Mediterranean fare made with strictly fresh ingredients of which the seafood is especially delightful. A raviollini stuffed with sea bass sauced just right with little bites of crab in a fresh tomato dressing that complimented the raviollini rather than drowning them. House wines were good and salads were lovely to look at as well as interesting to eat. The apple dessert was a beautiful sponge with good, rich apple flavor in a light, very delicious sauce. For starters we ordered the platter of mixed, cured fish and some bread. The fish was excellent, from memory it included salmon, swordfish and two types of octopus and more. The breads were delicious too, a mixed basket of flat breads and foccaccia type breads, salted and with various herbs. Two of us had the John Dory and the third had the lamb; then two panna cottas for my mates and I ordered the traditional Sardinian Seadas, a warm pastry filled with soft cheese and covered in warm honey, lovely. Sadly some of my favorite plates were specials, so I cannot go back to enjoy them; as good as they were, there are probably going to be similarly great ones in the future.Sausage filled grilled squid was fantastic. Burrata was great. Both Specials. The non specials were also very good, but for me those were the highlights. Our waiter wasn't the best, he was astonished by the quantity of food I ordered, and even commented on it in an almost disapproving way (I ran 13.2 miles that afternoon and was HUNGRY). The manager was very friendly, professional, and made up for our waiter's lackluster service. Overall it was very good, 4.5.

As ever at Sardo, utterly delicious food in a relaxed setting. We were a group of old friends catching up, and the restaurant was ideal - we had a very happy evening.

Friendly staff, should offer olives and bread without being asked. Food okay if unsurprising, and there might have been more fish dishes in Sardinian restaurant. Wine not bad.

I liked the food. I was with two others on a table of three - two women and one man. We were at the back in a section with a low ceiling, talking a lot. The trouble was the noise. There was excessive noise volume from loud conversation by male voices. There was one table between us and one that had three chaps aged 25-35 who were talking at the tops of their voices. Everyone else, also mostly men, seemed to be doing the same, perhaps to make themselves heard. The wood panelling behind the tables no doubt made matters worse. I think they should give thought to providing a soft surface instead. We complained to the waitress when paying the bill. She apologised but appeared to have been unaware of the problem. They also had music playing at the front - was that necessary?

Sardo's is a Sardinian restaurant which means there is an interesting regional twist on the menu. It is different to standard Italian fare. The stuffed squid for starter was delicious and the grey mullet with cockles was very good too. Service is very pleasant. will be going back.

As usual, the food and wine was excellent and the service warm and friendly. The crab linguini and venison were both great. Despite a fairly busy lunch the service was quick and on time. A very pleasant couple of hours.

We started our meal at Sardo with the Sardinian bread and olives, which were absolutely delicious. We got a basket filled with crispy, seasoned flat bread, two kinds of soft bread (white and brown), a selection of green and black olives, and olive oil for dipping. For our main dish we opted for the daily special of lamb rump served with potatoes au gratin. We got a large portion of tasty, tender lamb, served with – not potatoes – but stewed lentils! When we told our waiter that we were supposed to get potatoes, he said that this is what the dish is served with. Luckily, we’re fond of lentils, so we didn’t protest, and they were very good. But what if we didn’t like or couldn’t eat them? Our waiter was very pleasant and professional, and recommended an excellent Sardinian wine that suited the lamb perfectly.Sardo isn’t cheap, but the quality of the food is very high. If it weren’t for the fact that we were served lentils instead of potatoes, I would award it five stars.

We have been to Sardo on many occasions but this time we were very disappointed. The sword fish we ordered did not taste like sword fish. The manager did change our order for tuna and liver but the experience spoilt the whole evening. Doubtful whether we will return.

Haven't been for years as living abroad, but it's as good as I remembered, little local neighbourhood gem tucked away from nastiness of Tottenham Court Road. Lovely staff, great service and good food. Very sweet at asking noisy table behind us to stop playing loud music on phones as well! Go and give it a try!

Like all top quality Italian restaurants it's the quality of the ingredients that matters, mainlt simply cooked. Delicious carpaccio, suburb swordfish, great gelato. Food and wine all Sardinian and lovely. Considering the quality also reasonable prices

Sardos serves very good quality food, Sardinian in origin. The starters to share are very nice, as are the breads and oils. The fish main courses are my favourites. My colleagues raved about the wine being good (didn't try any myself) but was assured it was excellent. Only downside was the price, the dishes soon mount up and the bill was high. Would recommend if you like good Sardinian food.

We've always enjoyed Sardo's, we've been going for 15 years or so. It has an interesting Sardinian menu with some good Sardinian wines. Service is always friendly and efficient. It can be a bit noisy sometimes if there is a large party, but that adds to the atmosphere and ambience. The food is always delicious and very fresh.

The starter, mixed fish, was very good. The mains were expensive for what they were. We were not told the cheese was goat's, and it wasn't very good. Service was otherwise good. Ambiance was good. The wine was reasonably priced and good. Overall, we felt it was a little over-priced.

I'm so absolutely flabbergastro that this place still exists and is (erratically) open that I had to join this site and write a review. Blustery windy day, lost around an unrecognisable Fitzrovia and
