Da Vinci Ristorante Italiano in North West Leicestershire

I visited the restaurant on Saturday 25th Feb as part of a large group (50+people). Now I understand that 50 people arriving at the same time is a bit of a nightmare but, as I understand it, Marco was given all of our menu choices in advance. Anyway, we arrived at 7pm and received our starter at 8.20pm. This wasn't a huge issue as we were enjoying the company of our friends, however as the night went on it meant that some had finished their meals and others hadn't even had their mains, some never got them and left. The waitresses did their best to calm the waters and generally the mood was OK despite the obvious problems. The food when it did arrive was acceptable, but I had expected slightly better than acceptable to be honest. We asked for parmesan and was told there wasnt any tonight. Some on our table didn't eat their mains as they said it was bland and left before their deserts. As I say, I get 50 people is a bit of a logistical nightmare but surely the restaurant should have been prepared for that? All in all I would advise not to visit if you're in a large group.

We had a wonderful family lunch here on Sunday. My sister was visiting from S Africa and my brother was down from Manchester and Marco made our family get together really special. The waitress, Beth made us very welcome and was attentive to our needs while Marco produced an array of tasty, beautifully presented tapas dishes. A most memorable meal. Thank you Marco.

Ate here some time back and the whole experience was bad, managaer knows everything and is rude. We are always polite but, shame the manager isn;t. has no understanding and wont listen. not looking for money off or a discount but at least listen to customers. didn't bother with dessert and were made to feel small. took some time to write the review as reading others the manager is bad and dont want him to remember us because he will just be rude. calling people liars, saying they haven't eaten there but also saying bet they enjoyed all the free drinks! wish i'd read this before we went. we are always soft and polite shame the manager isn't.

Went here on Friday night for my birthday, we were the only 6 in the restaurant which is a real shame as this place is really nice and the food Is amazing. There was a birthday card on the table waiting for me and the manager came out with a dessert with a candle in it, really nice touch. The 2 young waitresses that were on were very efficient and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. We will be going back very soon for another visit.

manager doesn’t know how to treat women with respect :) it’s dirty and probably will fail inspections…the food is greasy…do not go here under any circumstances:)))

Tremendous family lunch with two lively toddlers, great food, good staff and owner, first visit, children made very welcome. We will return!

I have been enjoying this local gem for years with family and friends and took my partner for his first visit yesterday for date night! As always, we received a warm welcome from Marco and the other staff…and the food was delicious! We shared prawn and mushroom starters, then I had parmigiana for my main course and my partner had the beef stroganoff. Sadly we didn’t have room for dessert, but we had coffees to finish and my partner really enjoyed his liqueur coffee with Cointreau. Marco and the staff are so friendly, we really enjoyed chatting and also appreciated the complimentary Grappa at the end of the meal :) It was sad to see it so quiet on a Friday evening, however everywhere in Coalville was very quiet. Get out there people and support your local businesses!! Coalville doesn’t need another chain takeaway or charity shop..we need places like Da Vinci’s!

This restaurant goes from strength to strength. I particularly like the way the chef has a knack of reinvigorating dishes that can seem bland. A case in point is the whitebait I sampled recently which were crisp but not dry and served with a zesty mayonnaise which enhanced rather than dulled the flavour. The specials board is always worth keeping an eye on; you'll often find a regional Italian speciality on offer with close attention to authenticity. Knowledgeable front of house staff always on hand to suggest some interesting wine options from the ever changing carte.

Compelled to comment on my visit to this restaurant. Been before and pleased to write the Owner has not let his standards for food fall. Staff very attentive and knew their job. Cannot understand any negative from other customers. Menu choice, plate presentation and food bursting with flavour. Hard pushed to find another better Italian Restaurant here in Coalville.

This has become our go to place for a quick bite to eat on a Saturday lunchtime whilst shopping or on a Saturday night out. Marco and his team always make us feel so welcome and we always end up staying far longer than we would at any other local restaurant as your not made to feel like you need to rush….a real Italian thing !! Great menu selection and good wine too !! Also only place locally we can readily have a few limoncello’s post meal. They also have some great themed nights which have a great party atmosphere

This is by far the best Italian resturant in the area. It's always worth asking about the specials. I had seared swordfish on my last visit which was the freshest I've eaten anywhere (Skiathos, Sorrento etc). My partner's pork Milanese was to die for. Plenty of interesting nibbles to try while studying the thoughtfully crafted menu. The pasta is authentic and the saucing subtle but full flavoured. Solid, unpretentious house wine and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Always a friendly welcome from the owner and loyal band of customers. Good selection of hard to find grappa. A real destination restaurant if you love all that is Italian.

What a Main meal, have had the Special before and this time of having it , can't fault the meal, presentation and the bursts of flavours. Excellent service and Staff. Will definitely visit again and my friends have already booked for next week

We love eating here and would go more often if we could afford it. I cannot fault them, Marco and his staff are amazing. From our very first visit we felt welcomed and valued as customers. Our son has multiple food allergies and they always go above and beyond to cater for him. The food is delicious and of good quality. The portions are good too, we've never had room left for pudding. They offered cocktails last time I visited and they were out of this world! I cannot recommend here enough. We love it!

Visited to celebrate daughters graduation. Chose from the tapas menu and it was fabulous! The choice of tapas dishes was excellent, the quality and quantity superb and the service attentive but not intrusive. A gem of an Italian and lovely to see both the owner and the waitress take so much pride in delivering a first class service.

First night out in 18 month with 2 very good friends to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday. I would like to thank Marco the owner/chef for making it a very special evening. The food was exceptional and the service wonderful thanks to Lauren.

Yet again a lovely experience.. we enjoyed the £25 6 dishes and a jug of sangria. Wonderful selection and as always a warm welcome. We truly enjoy our time at davinci and Marco always adds that extra sparkle!!

If I could give this place zero I would. Avoid at all costs. When ordering desserts got told it had all gone off part from one portion and I’ve had sickness and diarrhoea all night. Sorry had the potential but just not there. Worst Italian I’ve ever had.

I have passed this restaurant on numerous occasions. Today I decided to try something from the amazing sounding menu in the window. Once my food arrived I know that I wasn't going to be disappointed, it look and tasted excellent.

Just to say the Elvis night was brilliant. The entertainment was superb and the food was equally as good. I'm always amazed how standards have been maintained by Marco and the team. You get the same warm Italian welcome whether you call in for a full dinner, coffee and cake or just a quick panini. This is a friendly place and I'm looking forward to the Motown Show in July which is bound to be another sell out!

On a friends recommendation, we booked Da Vinci's for a party of 10 of us. We went for a succession of dishes rather than set courses - and they kept coming. There was a really wide mixture of food which met everyone's tastes, including those who are vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free or (in my case) mushroom free. We were provided with more than we could cope with and it was all top quality. It all came to around £25 per head including wine, beer, coffee and a few extras. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. Excellent value.

We had a lovely evening meal as a family of 3. Our little boy loved the pizza. All our meals and the house wine were very good, and the owner is very friendly and welcoming. We have ate here previously and the food has been consistently great.

We were a group of eleven people middle aged and older. we mixed well and were comfortable with service and general warmth of the place.

We've been a few times with and without the kids. Marco is a great host, food is superb (we had the antipasti, mains - pizza and pasta - and dessert), great house red and smooth proper double espresso! The kids love the range, taste and freshness of the food plus the "little extra's" the get (biscotti, chic sauce, etc!). We will be back!! And for the money you won't get better in the locality...

My work colleagues & I had a fantastic time here! For me personally, it was my 1st visit & I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality shown as well as the quality of the food! The fact that Marco (the restuarant owner) took the time to speak to us all & socialise was a delightful finishing touch to what was a special, memorable meal out.

Amazing food all freshly cooked and waitress was lovely. We came with family as my daughter was back from uni and she’s vegan but they happily made her pizza without cheese. The food was lovely with sauces full of flavour and excellent dessert menu too homemade. They look after you and often get offered a shot or two of limoncello after the meal. Well worth a visit and they have brilliant music nights if you fancy a lively evening. Great value for money with high quality restaurant food. Can highly recommend the steaks dishes!

Me and my friends try to visit Davinci once a month, the food is fresh and really affordable. Great service and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Our first visit and definately not our last, a thoroughly enjoyable meal with excellent steaks and good Italian sauces with plenty of varied vegetables, starters were good and were served quickly and carefully by a very good waitress. We spoke to Marco who was the owner and he explained about the forthcoming music and entertainment nights, the waitress even went so far as to write them out, we look forward to returning.

We took the family out to celebrate our retirement, the starters well really good and the mains excellent, all 8 of us enjoyed the meal. We were well looked after and the steaks were fantastic

We took a party of 20 to DaVinci the other week (Saturday evening) for our annual get together. Marco again excelled with a rolling meze (tapas) type meal with more dishes than I can recall ! Everyone was full of praise for the variety, taste and warm welcome. Which was just as we expected since some of us have become regulars there.

What a fabulous day we had at Da Vinci's! Took mom again at her request having come here last year with dad and she was made to feel so special the owner Marco and the girls couldn't do enough for us. The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was great. Sadly we lost dad last October and when mum asked if we could go again this mothers day we were worried that because she had such happy memories it would not be as good. We needn't have fretted Marco was really attentive, he remembered us coming in last year and made us so welcome. The food was amazing the beef cooked just right and pear and walnut salad was gorgeous. Can't wait to come back. Thank you Marco and the team for another fabulous experience. Not sure if the other reviewers are actually genuine because every time we've been we've loved it and can't wait to come back.

Well I’m not sure where to start, and I cannot believe what I’m reading with the previous review.. I cannot in any way fault the meal I had this Mother’s Day. Fantastic deal! The beef was amazing full of flavour and cooked to perfection, Marco the owner even though he was under pressure with the vast amount of customers he still kept all customers happy and cooked the food beautifully. The girls working were very accommodating and always ensuring you have everything you need. I’m a big fan of this place. I have been to several music nights and my birthday too. I can’t wait to return for my next meal. All round great food, great company and friendly staff.

How nice it is to have an authentic Italian Restaurant in Coalville. We went to the restaurant to the Elton...

Food was served on a cold plate (hot pasta). The other meal was served on a hot plate but parts of the food were cool, parts hot. We chose salmon but were told it was not very good and they were waiting for a fresh arrival. What does not very good mean??.Waited 40 minutes for food to arrive during a quiet time of day, however, food was good.

We had the set menu as it was a night with enterntainment inlcuded with a fixed menu. However, 3 plates of just under par food and the inconsistent price of alcohol. To put it into perspective the steak could have repaired the hole in my shoe. The garlic mushrooms were out of a can convered in garlic butter. The desert was served without desert spoons apparantly. I can not critisise the staff because they must have to put up with a lot. I can't really recommend this establishment in good conscience.

A este restaurante ha sido dos veces. La primera vez tuve un bistec que estaba delicioso. La segunda vez, me comí un plato de pollo en salsa de tomate. Mi marido eligió un plato completamente diferente, pero las salsas en platos sabían exactamente el mismo. . . ? Y era muy sosa.

Called for lunch on the spur of the moment, always a good thing to do, lifts the spirit, why go home, eat some left overs perhaps, & then there's washing up to do? Soup & main, typical of rural Italian food, wholesome, very tasty, sends a great message to the inner self. Lauren looked after us with her usual panache, bright & bubbly, full of details about the Tribute acts, very popular, book your table or you'll be disappointed! Elvis on next, if my memory serves me right. Here's a good idea by the way, pop in for a 2 shot Americano if you're thirsty, sit in the window, comfy settee.

Visited the restaurant on Saturday for lunch, first visit to Coalville and the restaurant Da Vinci. On the face of it the staff are friendly and the place well presented. Menu small but enough for a lunch time menu. Ordered the soup and misto Italiano which was salami, Palma ham, cheese olives and salad, coffee and water. The soup was home made, tomato and basil which was a thick tomato soup. The misto was okay but the cheese was tasteless as was the oil dressing. However hidden within the salad was a one inch price of wire which stuck into my gum whilst eating. The waitress was called over and the metal and plate removed with promise of a replacement. To his credit the owner did return with another dish and offered a reason why it happened but no real apology and the dish left with me. Full price was asked for and paid for the experience. Probably a one off incident but the response to it was poor.

2nd time we have visited as 1st time was excellent,however this time was different,can not fault the food it was very good,but when some of our party mentioned the entertainment the owner did not like it at all.1 of our party heard him say," f off I have had your money" not at all professional,Needless to say we will not be going back.

Came to this wonderful restaurant for mothers day, what can i say, absolutely outstanding, food was amazing, service was outstanding, definitely will be going backThank you so much Marco xx

Just had another incredible lunch at De Vinci. The food as ever excites and the atmosphere is fun. It takes some serious effort in the kitchen to produce dishes that are unfussy yet refined and thoroughly enjoyable. Being an Italian restaurant the menu has a distinct Mediterranean slant and the owner/chef cooks with a sure and lightish touch. The dishes have a subtle yet aromatic flavour – to produce food of this quality at this price point is rare in this day and age. Good selection of Italian wines at fair prices – indeed some real bargains if you ask the efficient yet friendly front of house team. Delicious sweets too but don’t ignore the cheese board which is one of the best in the area and a real bargain at the price.

Nine of us had an excellent meal at DaVinci on Thursday evening. Marco excelled once again by producing a variety of dishes and sweets that were not on the menu which we shared between us. A superb dish of chicken pieces in a home made curry sauce, pieces of grilled swordfish, alongside the usual spaghetti in a rich sauce, tasty mushrooms and excellent pizza and mussels preceded by small stuffed 'tomato' peppers, salami and ham and a cheese and salad dish followed by a selection of sweets including poached pear with chocolate and a cream sauce, strawberries with Baileys solid whipped cream and dishes of pannacotta. A bit of each went town very well ! Lubricated with a bottle of Orvietto and a house red and finishing with a coffee and limoncello it was a superb and relaxing evening.

went today for lunch, main meal was advertised as chicken breast in tomato and herb sauce with French fries, what I got was.... oven chips.....hard inside, and an overcooked chicken breast in watery tomato sauce, inedible,wine £16.95 a bottle....really? I wont be returning

Went on Christmas Day wouldn't go back the beef was inedible poor presentation especially the prawn cocktail nice vegetables and a burnt Creme brûlée not for me

My first time at Davinci with a friend. There was no need to book and the restaurant wasn't particuarly busy. There was a Christmas menu, set menu and a la carte menu to choose from, somplenty of choice. Wine was limited to house wine at lunchtime, but there is more of a wine selection in the evenings and at the weekend apparently. The service was brisk and friendly, the food was good portion sizes and very good quality. I would happily visit there again.

What a superb night was had by all 11 of us!! The food was superb, 3 courses for £25 which was real value for money, given the quality of the food that was served. Entertainment for the night was Gary Setterfield (Elton John tribute) who played 2 sets over the night, belting out hit after hit. The restaurant was absolutely full, and it didn't take too much to get a lot of the diners up and dancing. First time visit for me personally, but I will certainly be visiting again. Thanks to Marco and his staff for providing us with a fantastic night.

A warm welcome from the owner chef Marco and the waitresses. This was a Sunday lunch get-together with friends - a table of 6. We had a mixture of dishes from the Sunday lunch menu and specials board. Great atmosphere with several other tables but not overcrowded like some Sunday lunch venues but still really good value. If you don't fancy the set menu just ask and Marco will usually be able to offer alternatives. Seems to be popular with regular customers - we knew several of them ! We normally go on a week-day evening so Sunday lunch was a bit different for us.

Having failed to get a table back in July (fully booked due to a music evening event), I felt lucky to get a table on my 2nd attempt.However, I needn't have worried about getting a table as, apart from one other couple who left about 15 minutes after our arrival, we were the only customers for the whole evening!I have no idea why this was, as the food was amazing! If you've ever eaten in a restaurant in Rome, then eating here will take you back there. The food is all cooked fresh to order and has that authentic feel to it (I know of other restaurants where they buy in their ready-made pasta). Servings are large and we both loved every dish we ordered. The waitress was very friendly and courteous, but not overly so.We will be going back, but will hope it's a bit busier next time.

This is an Italian Restaurant with simple Italian charm - not a plus restaurant that serves Italian food. Really friendly atmosphere and waitresses. Food is generally good and unpretentious. Marco the owner/chef seems happy to make up dishes of your choice if what you want is not on the menu. If they are not too busy he will come out of the kitchen and chat to you about your requirements or allergy. We eat there a couple of times a month and like it because it is simple and friendly. Also go there with a few friends about once a month.

It was a lovely atmosphere, very relaxed and I was enjoying my conversation, but then ........ the fire alarm started going on and off and it made such a racket; the staff quickly sorted it out each time. The staff were very friendly and helpful.I had the lasagne as a starter, which was brilliant, it tasted excellent.I then had sirloin steak with a sauce, wish I hadn't. The side dishes and sauce were good, but the steak was tough, I reckon it was rump.The food looked good and if you stick to the lasagne, Bolognese, pizza etc. you can't fault it, but if you go for steak, I think that you will have to take pot luck.But all in all, we had a good time.

I have been here a few times now, the last one being a party of 20 of us, all having 3 courses. The service was excellent, quick and with a smile, the food absolutely delicious and the price very reasonable considering the high quality of what was served! They also put up with a lot of noise from us all and were quite happy to stay open late for us: perfect hosts indeed. I have in the past been there with a friend and also with my husband, and each time the quality of service couldn't have been any better: excellent dining place, I would highly recommend.

A group of us attended from our local village for the Motown night, A couple of us are regulars to the restaurant and recommended that we all go there for one of the groups birthdays- and what a fabulous night we all had! - as usual the staff were so welcoming and friendly, the service was second to none and the food was lovely. Saturday night 7pm booking and were the 2nd couple there.Waitress was friendly but did not want to hear about her hospital treatment to the other couple before we ordered food. Ordered 2 courses and can't decide which was the most bland tasting.Offer came with wine and can honestly say I've tasted better mouthwash.Will never go back. Avoid if you want don't want bland food.

We use this restuarant quite often like most months to see the tribute acts , it's very welcoming but the menu has changed to a set one of few choices and it's gets a bit the same and boring with not much to choose from , we also think it's a bit pricey at £25 for quite basic food . We are a party of six and think that it's needs to be changed regularly or go back to how it was .

A smallish room that is always nearly full creates a good atmosphere, not too loud, but enough background noise to have personal conversations without being overheard.The food is just average, nothing special, what they is cooked well, but really nothing appealing to my tastes on the menu. everything that caught my eye was billed as something served on pasta.I know its an italian restaurant but I would like to see a little more diversity.

We were part of a Birthday Party evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. All the staff made a real effort to ensure everyone had a good time. It is a fairly small place but the food was very acceptable for a mass catering occasion.The only downside was the excessive drinks prices. I think we all expect to pay double for a bottle of wine but three to four times supermarket prices is a bit steep so have a cocktail before you go and a nightcap when you get back.All in all a successful evening but I will think twice before going back.

My partner and I visited this restaurant last Friday. It is a lovely little restaurant with a great Italian feel.Great service and very filling food.

Meal was fantastic. So much choice and all good value for money! Really enjoyed the bruschetta to start and the pizza & chips for main - very traditional and lovely tasting/fresh. Nice that they put complimentary olives, bread and breadsticks on the table, and the service was great. Enjoyed the house wine too! Will definitely be returning.

Myself and my 2 small children like to visit here in the school holidays from time to time for lunch.The children always choose the pizza which is tasty but plenty of other things to choose from otherwise. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them.

From start to finish I never felt that I was in an Italian restaurant, No music, English staff and next to nothing in terms of Italian decor. The meals were extremely average - basically something that anyone could produce in their own kitchen in half an hour. I chose veal as a main course and the other three in our group chose chicken - we all felt that the meat was dry and tough, the sauces were not authentic Italian and the vegetables were very basic. I have visited a number of excellent Italian restaurants in recent years but, unfortunately, this was not one of them ! The only saving grace was the very knowledgeable and attentive waitress who looked after us extremely well. Will not be returning.

We came here with a group of friends to watch an Elvis tribute and eat. The tribute was brilliant and we enjoyed every minute of his performance. The food was on a set menu of £25 per person for three courses. I thought this would be OK until I saw the choices. I ended up with basically posh cheese on toast for a starter which was lovely however I was given one piece of bread in the middle of a huge plate. Not really worthy of the price tag! The main I chose prawn and chicken pasta in a white wine sauce- this lacked the proper seasoning one would expect from a true Italian restaurant, quite disappointing. The dessert was Panna cotta which was very good. I have to say if it wasn't for the the act we wouldn't have stayed to eat. £75 per couple which included the food each and a few alcoholic drinks. It is quite pricey for what you actually get.I have been to Italy and I have to say rather disappointedly that this place missed the mark by some way.

We were looking for somewhere to go Italian for a Sunday lunch to celebrate my daughters 16th,my had been here previously and suggested here,there was a wide variety of choices to cater for all age groups,we had 3 courses,all delivered at the time,no waiting,waitress service excellent,owner Marco very nice and friendly,all the food was lovely,ample portions,in fact we had to send potatoes,chips and veg back.Lovely afternoon had by all,well worth a visit

lovely food, very welcoming. The staff were superb and couldn't do enough for us. So impressed that we've booked to go again on Saturday for my sisters birthday.

Had several lovely meals here, Marco is always welcoming and polite, the staff very friendly and obliging and food aways good.

Booked a table of 15 for Sunday lunch. Great choice of food for a lunch menu. Excellent portion size, all food served was delicious, piping hot, all at the same time with nobody having to wait. Atmosphere was lovely, nice traditional Italian feel. Owner came a spoke to us, very friendly as was all the staff. House red wine was lovely. Have booked again for a family birthday. Can't wait to try their evening meal menu. Highly recommend.
