We were greeted on entering the premises, and shown to our table. The service was great, and the food was excellent

Had a lightish lunch - shared pizzas and salads, kids had their own from the kids menu. Service brisk, children's starter plates brought very quickly, food very enjoyable ! A quiet Sunday, so not a great atmosphere. We had no great expectations, but they were exceeded. Company lucky to have the staff they do in Ashby !

Waited ages for the food and it was terrible. The staff did not care and nobody came to aplologize us for the wait. Atmosphere was average. Will not come back.

Disappointed with the food which was generally tasteless and lacked any sauce (Lentil ragú and beef pasta). Courgette fritters were mainly small pieces of batter. Not much courgette unfortunately. Olives were the only highlight.

We had a 40th party for my daughter and nothing was to much trouble for the staff here...it made her night what a lovely place very welcoming..

Our ordered arrived but 2 items were missing. We had to wait another 20 minutes for them to be delivered.

A chilled dining experience! The waitress’s polite and playful attitude, along with the manager’s humor, added to the atmosphere. The other staff members that we encountered offered a friendly and engaging service, which made our visit enjoyable. The complimentary lemonade shots were a nice gesture, and the food arrived in a timely manner.

Really disappointed tonight £30 per head I expect edible food , my pasta was so dry it felt rubbery and was definitely overcooked so disappointed I’ve ordered here before and had a fantastic meal I can’t rate tonight’s I’m sorry guys I have asked for a refund

Standard Italian chain eatery, does the job, quite pricey considering the typically small portion sizes (never understand why they don't chuck a load more pasta in the dish for how cheap pasta is and how much it would improve the meal satisfaction!).

Sadly our experience was below expectations, after an hour and half we had only been served with one round of drinks and our starter’s, the kitchen staff appeared to be over run with on line orders, and as a result we were neglected

Really tasty food and a great server however, the 'background' music was too loud and there was no finger bowl or wipes available after the shell on prawns

Great night after a busy day ; Ask wasn’t too crowded when we went in at 8pm. The atmosphere was chilled and nice. The food was yummy - we shared a tomato and burrata salad (perhaps using beef tomatoes would have been best here), and a charcuterie board. All very tasty, but the mozzarellas were a little bland in my opinion. The pizza was huge but tasty. Globally everyone had a good night, we were well looked after by the patient staff.

It was a fab night. Monica was lovely as always and Daniels cocktails were great.

Slow poor service...dirty tables around us just left for the duration of the evening. Drinks slow to arrive, no offer to pour wine when it arrived...just plonk it on the table. Starter of mushrooms was burnt. Ages to wait between courses. Food was very average and reminicent of Weatherspoons on a bad night. Oh dear.

The table was not as clean as it could be , sticky. The main courses came out haphazardly and the child’s pizza went into the oven when we all had our main courses. Me carbonara was not hot enough The wait for deserts was ridiculous and came out haphazardly too

Very good dining experience, the young lady who served us was excellent and attentive. The other staff were equally as good. The food was good, however a bit disappointed that they had no carbanara as they had not had a delivery of the sauce. However very apologetic. Wine was crisp and dry which was spot on as it was a warm evening. Prawn starter with a cheese fondue Firery hot honey pizza Pollo something Chocolate pudding Affargato Well done to all staff

Went for late lunch, not busy, lovely and peaceful. Served by Liam who was very efficient and friendly. Food was very good as usual. Love this place.

Really extremely annoyed because they missed the goats cheese. Without this key ingredient the entire salad is ruined and overpriced.

Went Monday lunch time for the first time, loved it so much we returned Thursday evening for our anniversary meal and with our daughter. Caitlin (apologies if spelling is wrong!) looked after us so incredibly well and was amazing with our daughter. The food was wonderful and piping hot, service just excellent even though it was very busy, and a really lovely atmosphere - cosy but not cramped! Loved it and we'll be back frequently I'm sure!

Pleasant lunch of pizza and salad. Restaurant was quite busy today with it being school holidays. Service staff are always attentive and polite. The poor chef had to work hard today, working solo.

I’m not a big fan of “chains”, but this was convenient at the time. I know that chain restaurants can often be “hit and miss”. Well, today, Ask in Ashby was a hit. A lovely warm welcome and continued excellent service from the two young ladies who both served us during our visit. The bread was delicious and we both thoroughly enjoyed our menu choices - tomato spaghetti, the Verdure bowl and a portion of calamari. Credit where credit is due - a very pleasant meal and service 😊

Came at an off peak time, lovely gent on FOH. Food was lovely, had the carne picante. The vegetarian options are plentiful and use good substitutes instead of just vegetables.

We booked a table for dinner on Saturday. The restaurant was busy and the staff were friendly. Ryan, in particular, deserves recognition for his attentive service and swift resolution of a food-related issue. His professionalism ensured that our evening wasn't interrupted too much and we left feeling satisfied and well taken care of.

Lovely visit to Ask Italian. Very friendly staff members. Myself and my fiancé felt very welcome and the atmosphere was calm. Pizza was delicious and cooked very well. My finances pasta was cooked really well and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you ask Italian and we will be visiting again with hopefully more Tesco vouchers ☺️.

pizza came almost cold, very dry and burnt, a little bit small for that price, not worth £20

I went to ask to buy food, having a voucher from using Tesco clubcard only to be told I was not able to use them for a takeaway yet of we ate in the restaurant vouchers cannot be used to pay for drinks can you please explain why I am confused.

It is a great place to stop, indulge, and breathe for a while. Nice coffee and mini cakes

Food was delicious, but the service wasn't the best, and things not explained clearly, so mislead. Staff in front of the house seemed preoccupied with their laptop more than the customers.

I visited Ask Italian with my family recently and left feeling unsatisfied. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food arrived quickly. However, the food was not as warm as we would have expected and the portions were average-sized. I know that this is an English chain restaurant, but the authenticity is not there. The food also seems overpriced across the board. Our experience was fine, however, we left still hungry. It is a shame, as we once loved this restaurant.

We had a great celebratory meal on Friday night. Although the restaurant was busy being the Easter weekend, orders were quickly taken and food and drink served promptly. All courses good, but especially the desserts! Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Will definitely return.

Erynn was fantastic. Very attentive and sweet.

Food is lovely! Just as you’d expect it if you were at the restaurant itself; only slight criticism is that the deserts should have been separated from the hot food. when we received them they were beginning to melt. Other than that no issues and would definitely order again!

Had a Buy a gift voucher but when we came to pay they informed us it had expired but only 5 months old. Don't use Buy a gift it's a rip off.

Usually love this place but this time it was really below par. Had a large group booking for a work social and we had all pre-ordered our meals. Upon arrival, we had to wait about 10 minutes to be served/seated (on a Friday night at 7pm, surely you’d put more staff on? Only saw about 3 people waiting tables). Once seated, we ordered drinks which then took 25 minutes to arrive. I ordered a passionfruit martini which didn’t even come with a shot of Prosecco as per tradition. Food took 1 hour to come, despite pre-ordering. Other tables who had arrived (and ordered) after us were all served their food and drinks before we were. When my drink was served, it was partially spilled on the table and I was given nothing to wipe it up with. When the food came, the waitress almost threw my pizza off the board and into my lap (it was a good job I caught it!) Additionally, I had ordered the vegan NO’DUJA pizza, which I queried as it didn’t seem to have any NO’DUJA on it. The waitress never came back to me with a response, so I asked a second time. All I was told was “yes it’s the vegan pizza”. I was aware it was vegan, due to the sticker on the serving board, but I was asking if they’d given me the CORRECT pizza that I’d ordered. Upon eating it, there definitely wasn’t any NO’DUJA on it as there was no spice AT ALL, despite the description saying it was meant to come with spicy NO’DUJA sauce. By this point though I was fed up of asking about it, and the rest of my party were tired of waiting, so I just ate it for fear of having to wait another hour for a replacement. After this, I ordered the new vegan dessert (1 of 2 options) and they told me they were out of stock. Finally, when the bill came, there was a £21 tip added to our total - which we were not happy to pay after the awful service wait times, so I asked for this to be removed. They claimed to have removed it, but after everyone had paid, we were told there was still £18 to settle. I informed them that this was not correct as we had added all of the amounts up AND added a more suitable tip, so we had actually overpaid. The manager then had to rectify this. Upon reflection, this branch of Ask Italian has always served us well when we are with smaller parties of 2-3 people, but any time I have been with a larger group, the service wait times (and automatic tips added to the bill) have really let it down. All in all, the staff were friendly enough and food was tasty, but service speed and quality were really poor - and it seems this is a regular occurrence.

A really nice evening out. Lots of staff which was a massive improvement on last time. Food was great and it was bustling, lots of atmosphere. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.

Meals weren’t that hot. Chips were too hot so couldn’t enjoy food together. Tasted like heated up ready meals. Quality is poor. Understaffed. Manager didn’t seem too bothered about the complaint. Not even an apology. Went to the Co-Op across the road for pudding - that’s how great the experience was! Won’t be using Ask Italian again.

We haven’t been for a while but as usual it never fails to impress. Very speedy service, but fresh hot tasty food served. The Calamari and the prawns starters were yummy starters, we had pizza and pasta for mains. The children loved the raspberry lemonade, followed by their raspberry sorbet, chocolate & brownie, my tiramisu was lovely, except I would’ve preferred cream instead of the coffee cream in the jug served with it. Thank you very much, now we live in Ashby we will try to treat ourselves again.

The meal was tasty and hot . However , we ordered extra garlic mayo and was charged £1 each per pot . Perhaps we should have been told about this ? The atmosphere was dull , as there was no back ground music and the restaurant was empty . It was the food that we will come back for . The chefs worked hard and it really was yummy .

Bit of a mixed bag. On arrival we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Unfortunately there is no bar or waiting area here so you are just stood in the doorway waiting. We had a table in the window which was nice and once we were seated we got served quickly. The staff were all very friendly. We ordered our starters, mains, a bottle of wine and a some tap water for the table. Starters came quickly but no wine or water. We assumed it would follow but didn't...... Half way through starters the waiter asked if everything was ok and I mentioned the drinks. He apologised and chased them up, but by the time they eventually came the starters were finished. The starters were very tasty, as was the wine (Puglia Bianco). After starters got cleared the mains came not long after. My wife had a pasta and meatballs dish and I had the mushroom risotto. My wife's food was ok, although the pasta was really over cooked and sloppy. My risotto was very bland. It tasted like the rice had been cooked on its own then mixed with mushrooms after. If you had the rice on its own it had no flavour at all. Lacked any sort of seasoning. We then shared a salted caramel sundae which was really good. Upon paying we told the waiter that we had a voucher to use towards payment. I had also put this in the booking notes. The waiter didn't know how to take payment with the voucher so had to get the manager, but this took a good 15 mins or so. When we finally went to pay there was some sort of issue with the tills, then an issue with the hand held payment machine. All in all it took about half an hour to pay. There was a lovely atmosphere in Ask and the staff were very friendly, however the quality of the food was lacking and the service seemed quite stretched and hectic. I would come back here but will play it safe and order something like pizza.

Delicious Italian. A favourite with us & the kids, lovely pizza & pasta. Anything with N’duja always a winner if you like spicy flavours. Great staff & always feel welcome.

Had a lovely set 3 course meal for Valentine’s Day, didn’t have to wait long between each course, portion sizes was just right with having 3 courses, was even given a complimentary drink. Very pleased overall

I’ve been to this branch about 7 times in 2023 and every time I’ve been given a glass with lipstick on the rim. Not sure if the dishwasher removes lipstick but surely you would check if the glasses are clean before giving to a customer. Now I go elsewhere as I’m sick and tired of sending the glass es back on every visit. Customers please look at your glass before you drink from it.
