The Cornerhouse in Lancaster

My friend and I decided to try here for some food! The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. It cost us just over £30 each for a small plate, main, desert and cocktail, which i didn’t think was half bad, at all! The staff were super friendly. We were sat in the dining area and we could hear the live singer in the bar very well. Overall, it was a lovely experience and we both said that we’d be back at some point in the future. The vibe was 10/10, the food was 10/10.

Ordered steak but didn’t have any - why? There are lots of butchers in Lancaster. Had the Sunday roast instead. Roast beef was the bought in type so not a great meal at all, not from a proper joint.Service times just within acceptable standards.

The food was really good and very reasonably priced, especially as we got the happy hour discount. However, the experience was ruined by our waiter. It started badly when he forgot to bring over our water with our drinks and we had to remind him about it. After we finished our starter, our plates then weren’t taken away for a good 20 minutes, which was strange as our waiter walked past us multiple times and took other tables plates away. He also took my fork with my plate and didn’t replace it leaving me with no fork for my main and meant I had to take one from the table next to me. We had our mains which were lovely and then were swiftly handed the bill. However the waiter failed to mention that we have to go and pay at the bar. We were sat there for 25 minutes waiting to pay (it was busy and wanted to give plenty of time for him to bring it over) before I asked him if we could pay now and only then did he say that we had to pay at the bar. We then went over to the bar to pay and our waiter walked past us and saw us waiting to pay but instead wiped a table and made us wait. The bartender was busy making cocktails so we ended up standing there for 5 minutes waiting to pay with both the waiter and bartender not even acknowledging us standing there. I’ve been twice before and my experiences both other times have been great. Maybe the waiter just had an off day, I don’t know. But it’s put me off going back again as it was a massively frustrating visit despite the great food

Another lovely afternoon at the Cornerhouse. Good food as usual and all the staff are brilliant, great service, and very friendly.

We took our grandchildren here for early evening meal during happy hour as we have done on many occasions, the service we received was of the highest order, nothing was too much trouble, the food, as always, cooked perfectly, brilliant selection and great value for money, as a group with young children the staff were attentive and helped the kids with their orders and couldn’t be more helpful Would highly recommend the Cornerhouse and we will be back again soon 💙

My partner booked a table for the two of us for tonight Friday 12th January for 7pm When we got there he said there wasn’t any room in the restaurant and we would have to sit in a booth in the bar area . We got a drink snd sat down I wasn’t happy with the situation, I went to the toilet through the restaurant looking around there were four empty tables. Why couldn’t we have had one of those has we had booked.! Very disappointed in the way it was dealt with. We ending up walking out without eating. This is the second incident we have come across with this restaurant. 😞

My meal was enjoyable I had steak but my parents didn’t enjoy there’s they had butternut squash spinach goats cheese in a sauce in a pie my mums pastry was hard. A difficult to cut there was no sauce and very little goats cheese on a positive note the server was friendly helpful

Although the food and service was acceptable the place is worse than filthy. Keeping your air conditioning units in the ceilings is basic cleaning standards and are a health risk breathing air coming through filthy units and to look up and see your sat under dirty black cobwebs that have obviously been there for some time and no they weren’t Halloween decorations.

Went in the evening and were seated right next to the live band so couldn’t hear the person I was trying to have a conversation with. We had to pre-order to be told at the table that some items were out of stock but weren’t notified prior- what’s the point in pre-ordering? Garlic breads came out after the mains when we’d nearly finished or had finished so were no longer wanted as we’d finished. They said they’d read the order wrong despite it being the same format as the other garlic breads that came out on time. All pasta dishes are very runny and mushy and quite bland. Won’t be returning

We went as a group of 10. There were some mishaps, like starters arriving after main courses were eaten, pre-ordered desserts not available, but for me the awful pasta was the striking feature. The Linguine al Simone, of which 3 were ordered, was almost completely lacking in Salmon, with a watery cream sauce. This is the second time of trying pasta here, and I won’t do it again.

We went to Lancaster for a day out - we were looking for somewhere to have lunch and so glad we found The Corner house. Staff were very attentative. The food was really nice and good portions. The live music was an added bonus too. Will def visit again when we are in Lancaster.

Excellent food, superb service and very delicious brownies! It is such a classy place with great music and the team are very friendly! It is the place to be and I would totally recommend to everyone! 10/10!!!

Having had a great meal here in May, we were looking forward to a return. Unfortunately, the food was poor. Starting with a mussels starter, about 50% of the shells were broken, leading to many pieces of shell being stuck to the flesh, very unpleasant. For the main, two of us had Beef Stroganoff, the beef was overcooked and extremely tough, we ended up having it boxed up to take home for the dog. We also had a burger, this too was overdone and very dry, which was surprising, as it came with an apology for the delay.

Lovely meal out with some work colleagues. Would definitely recommend the crispy chilli beef and the salt and pepper chips, amazing and so tasty! Great choice of good and decent live music albeit a little loud to carry on chatting inside but plenty of seating outside

Can’t fault this place at all, staff welcoming from the start despite being busy, part of a large preordered party so was expecting a wait but no! Food came out quickly, tasted fresh and in generous portions. My friends were very impressed with their meals too, even offered to take what we couldn’t eat away. Service was excellent, consistently offered drinks and very polite throughout. A great night had by all and at a fraction of what most places charge nowadays, thank you very much for a lovely evening. We will definitely be back 🙂

Confused from the start. We were told we had to prebook, when we got there this is for only groups of 10? We received our precooked food before we had ordered drinks. We were then pretty rushed through our meal, in and out in less than an hour. We feel we were treated as happy hour customers who unfortunately paid full price. Also one of our party couldn’t make it as was poorly. We were told as pre booked and pre cooked we had to pay for the meal, which we did and took away in a doggy bag. Finally came to pay the bill and was then told we would not be charged for the the meal for our friend. Dark room, average food.

This use to be a good place to eat but the standard of food has gone down. Went a month ago and thought it was a one off bad day for the chefs. Unfortunately today was even worse. We had the roast beef dinner we had to ask for a steak knife and other diners had to do the same. Some of the vegetables was undercooked and some was overcooked. The sticky toffee pudding was burnt on the top. As a former chef it is disappointing when a restaurant serves food of such a poor quality.

Aye at the cornerhouse a couple of weekends back. Service was efficient with the added bonus of being moved to a booth without asking once available which was a nice touch as felt more private for us both. Only down side for me was whilst the food was quick and very reasonably priced was a little under seasoned and lacks the real wow factor. However outside of that very efficient, enjoyable and a good meal out for a reasonable price.

Went on a Friday evening for happy hour , the atmosphere was lively, staff attentive and food above average. First time I’ve been in years but would definitely return with the family. Only negative / feedback was we wanted extra drinks and no staff around to offer this so had to queue at the bar whilst good sat on the table.
