Spaghetti House in Lancaster

We booked a table for 7 of us. Service was slow, so it dragged the night out, but the food was nice. There's no "drinks" menu, but they do have a wine list, but a few of them are only sold by the bottle. So drinks were disappointing for me. I ended up settling for a lemonade because everything else I asked for wasn't available or was only sold by the bottle and I felt awkward holding up the waiter. I much prefer places to have a drinks menu. Overall, I'd go again, but I'd go earlier so we wouldn't finish so late.

This was my 1st visit since before covid and it disappointed. The restaurant was quiet as we were 1st in expecting a nice hello however the lady who served us was abrupt. The food was served in under 4mins which I know from the time we ordered making us wonder how so as the food used to be made fresh and cooked to order. I was really unwell later that evening into early morning vomiting undigested pasta and my friend too was unwell in same way. It seemed the food may have been pre cooked as no way they can make 2 different pasta bake meals from the oven cooked menu fresh and cooked in under 3mins. I won't be eating there again after our experience, I eat pasta regularly and never have a reaction like that nor does my friend.

Siempre he ido a la casa de espaguetis y tuve una gran experiencia, sin embargo, este no fue el caso esta vez. La comida como siempre era deliciosa y la camarera joven que tuvimos era encantador y educado. A la hora de pagar pedimos la factura que nos fue entregada. No estaba demasiado ocupado, pero habíamos estado sentados allí más de 15 minutos y queríamos irnos, así que subimos al bar a pagar. Aquí es donde nos reunimos con la mujer más ruda que he experimentado mientras salíamos a comer. Ella era muy rápido con nosotros y nos dijo que era servicio de mesa solamente, le dijimos que habíamos estado esperando mucho tiempo y queríamos irnos así que ella se estrelló en nosotros para ir alrededor del bar en la parte delantera y ella tomaría el pago. Cuando allí nos preguntó qué queríamos pagar, los dos dijimos que dividiéramos la cuenta por favor... ella dijo “¿cuánto?” Así que dije exactamente la mitad de cada uno por favor... ella hizo retroceder el proyecto de ley y dijo “dije cuánto” yo lo hice retroceder y dijo la mitad de cada uno por favor ella entonces muy groseramente dijo “oh quieres que lo resuelva por ti ¿verdad?”, tienes que decirme. Honestamente, fue la forma tan grosera y rápida en que habló lo que me enfadó tanto. Por su culpa nunca volveré a ir allí, señora muy desagradable. Qué pena después de una comida encantadora xx

Comida realmente impresionante - extremadamente sabrosa y bien presentada. Un poco ruidoso porque es un espacio relativamente pequeño pero eso no va a molestar a la mayoría de los comensales y solo preferencia personal por un ambiente más tranquilo. Si usted está buscando una cocina italiana sabrosa y bien preparada que no es soso, entonces este es un buen lugar para empezar y la factura era muy razonable también.

I had a very disappointing experience with the gluten-free pizza at this restaurant. The pizza I was served was undercooked and raw in the middle, making it completely inedible. Being hungry, I only managed to eat the wedges, but the raw center was unacceptable. When I raised the issue with the waitress, her response was incredibly dismissive. First, she tried to gaslight me by claiming that "this is how gluten-free pizzas are." As someone with celiac disease who has eaten plenty of gluten-free pizzas, I know the difference between a properly cooked pizza and a raw one. When I reiterated my concern, she made a snarky comment about how other people usually compliment their gluten-free pizza instead of showing any remorse or attempting to resolve the issue. The poor service didn’t end there. There was no drink menu provided, which made ordering a drink unnecessarily difficult. I ordered a Coke but was served what seemed like a sugar-free version without any clarification—something I don’t enjoy. On top of that, our table by the window was uncomfortably cold, adding to the unpleasant experience. I had visited this place before, and the gluten-free pizza was fine, which is why I decided to come back. Unfortunately, this time it was a complete letdown. The combination of raw food, rude service, and poor attention to customer comfort left me very disappointed. I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Mi familia y yo siempre venimos aquí y nunca tuvimos ningún problema, la comida siempre ha sido increíble y el servicio al cliente en la parte superior. . pero desafortunadamente nuestra noche no fue tan agradable. Mi familia y yo vinimos por una comida para mi cumpleaños y por lo general pedimos las mismas comidas, pero decidí cambiar por una noche, la pasta de atún no puede ir mal, pero por el precio que iba a pagar no era lo que esperaba, no quería quejarme, pero no era comestible y todo lo que le dije a la camarera fue que no quería pagar por algo que no podía comer, su respuesta fue "no esperas follar atún fresco por 10 libras! " Como en mi derecho me defendí, nunca en mis años de trabajo en hostelería me ha jurado una camarera después de quejarme de una comida y si ese es el caso no debería estar en el oficio. Como se nos ha prohibido defendernos incluso yo no lo haríamos no estaríamos regresando.

This place used to be excellent. Having not been for sometime we were very disappointed when we went back. The lasagne used to be served in a dish with plenty of sauce like it had just been made but now its like a dry thick lump of stodgy cake like pre made thats bought in the supermarket! On a previous visit they brought the wrong order for my husband so I was left eating on my own, 10/15 mins later they brought his correct order which I then had to sit while he ate. Not sure we will try again!!

This is a little hidden gem in Lancaster! I was recommended this place by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. The service was fantastic, attentive staff and very efficient. (A special thanks to the waitress who served us on 21/9/2024, my apologies didn’t get your name) As for the food, the Lasagne was a favourite with one of our party (the portion size is incredible). Pasta was cooked perfectly and a really tasty garlic bread. (Huge shout out to the chef for such a fantastic meal!) I also loved the fact that you cater for all diets (vegan and veggie options, with no fuss whatsoever)! The Spaghetti House is definitely a favourite now in Lancaster and we will be returning soon. Huge thanks to everyone!

Not the most authentic italian restaurant you can find in Lancaster but still alright, good portions even though I'm pretty sure my starter was frozen beforehand. Had the spaghetti bolognese and for a place named after the dish it was a bit disappointing to be honest. Still very filling and not bad otherwise.

Lovely food, relaxed and informal restaurant, we love coming to the Spaghetti House. Great place to bring your kids.

Now I’ve been to many italian restaurants, but spaghetti house just hits different. Been here multiple times and its never missed. I’d have to say that the pizza is american but is still good, not the best but it is nice. However the pastas are on a whole other level. Great flavours and definitely a lot better than what I could make. Will continue going here, it’s been my go to for birthdays, dates and celebrations

awfully unclear menu. got flat beer and whenever i have come and got a pasta dish it has been bland. maybe the supervisor or manager, whoever he is simply cant communicate with customers. a clearer menu is a must for this place and customer service is awful. its not my fault you chose the same font and same font size, with no paragraph spacing whatsoever so i HAD to eat my pizza when i have an intolerance or i would have to pay for something im not even eating. disgraceful treatment of customers who have been coming here for over 10 years!!! shocked and appalled. seriously sort your menu out i think a 5 year old could do better.

very unclear menu so i was forced to either eat my pizza when i am intolerant or not get a replacement. clearly struggling for money as they cant satisfy their customers. third time i have come here and been let down by either the menu being unclear or the pasta being so bland as if it never had any seasoning. never again and i have been coming here since i was a child.

Competitively priced, situated centrally in town centre, clean restaurant, nice atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful, menu extensive really overall great have visited many times over the years

So this was meant to be a nice meal out to celebrate my partners birthday. Upon arrival the staff weren’t very attentive and upon being seated we were left to twiddle our thumbs for quite a considerable time. After several attempts to get attention we were able to order drinks. As it was a small family meal we ordered a bottle of house rose wine. Drinks brought and again left alone. Upon tasting the wine it seemed rather rich for a rose but we drank it rather than cause a fuss. The staff were very unattentive and after deciding on our food choice we again had to almost shout to get some sort of service. The food arrived and I must say it was very nice. Not at any point of the evening did and staff check to make sure we were happy. After eating our meal we discussed the wine and its poor quality and examined the bottle. Best before 2015 !!!!! Shocked and disappointed I approached the manager to inform him of the problem. He basically said that as we had drank the wine then he wasn’t willing to do anything. He said it’s too late. I asked for the empty bottle to take with me but he said it had been smashed. He was rude. Arrogant and in my opinion a total jobsworth. No acceptance of responsibility Terrible evening

Family of 4 on Saturday happy hour for a late father's day & Phoenix Boy home coming! We was not disappointed! I'm gluten & dairy intolerant & my starter & main was superb! We would definitely go back! Staff polite,clean establishment & was full & good atmosphere! Liked the fact that it is an open kitchen & you can see the chef's cooking! The alcoholic drinks were a good standard for a restaurant!..

Like Bob said before, pretty dated decor Had the carbonara and the pasta was cooked to perfection but the sos and the bacon ruined it. Long story short this is the carbonara you would expect from and MRE, not from a restaurant freshly made.

It was ok ish. I've had better pizzas from Asda. Carbonara was a wash with tasteless cream. Shame.

I've given three stars as my family and I went on Monday 5.45pm for happy hour (advised by their website that it was open at 5pm) only to find it closed - we went elsewhere. Even the menu outside said it was open on Mondays at 5pm. My other ratings refer to a visit I made on Thursday with friends. Excellent food, excellent service and great atmosphere.

Squeezed us in when they were full, fantastic service, fantastic food..

Simply put, great service but was expecting so much more based on the name. As I walked in, I stood around for a while waiting for someone to notice my presence, and when they did turn up, they did not make me feel welcomed at all. While I was waiting, I noticed the front of the restaurant was quite empty and honestly really nicely decorated with light shining through. However, that changed as I was taken through to the back area where it was quite busy, dark, noisy and rather dated ... I don't understand why they chose to sit me at the back of the restaurant. The biggest annoyance for me was that I found it so difficult to order with the quantity of dishes on the menu. The restaurant is filled with cheap plastic seats, dated tables, and very old fashioned wall paper and decor plastering the walls. The food was just OK, as the starter was nice, but the prawns were really rubbery. The main had some nice flavours, but the sea food was just overcooked again, and the fried calamari was just too oily. The deserts menu was so disappointing ... honestly, where were the traditional Italian deserts you could be serving? Overall, I did enjoy the flavours of the food but was so let down by listening to reviews from others hyping this place up. If you are after traditional Italian, I feel there is better out there ... but maybe not in Lancaster? My feedback for the restaurant is to simply have a smaller menu and focus on the quality on those few items, which means more love can into the limited number of dishes, than all the dishes on the menu they do have ... and it would mean they could focus on making pasta in-house ... YES, a place called "Spaghetti House" buys their pasta in according to their waiter!

Lovely meal with friends to celebrate my retirement. The food was good, staff friendly. Definitely worth a visit 😊

food was good for happy hour prices. the younger staff were lovely but seemed to be a little stressed. the older lady whom I assume was the senior staff member was terse and perhaps contributing to the younger staff members stress. used to be a lovely intimate restaurant but felt a little exposed and soulless on this visit. could just have been an off night.

Always love the food here and always reasonably priced, especially during happy hour. Service is super fast, we didn't have to wait long at all. Food is fresh. Love that they offer homemade gluten free pizza dough and pasta - this is also included in the happy hour pricing (they don't up the price for these options)

Clean nice place to eat in Lancaster.

This has been my go to place for pizza/pasta for around 20 years, and it's still great! We ate here recently for a birthday meal and had a fab time.

Lovely privately owned restaurant that is well worth seeking out. It's our families go to Italian restaurant and has been for 20years!

Food was delicious can not fault it at all but the Manager or who was in charge this evening needs more training his customer service has a lot to be desired. I needed to leave before my friends and wanted to pay my share of the bill he told me quite aggressively to go and sit down he would bring the bill, I said I need to go I have to get to work to which he replied you need to go back to the table fortunately my friend said for me to go and she would settle the bill. I feel he needs some serious manners.

Food very nice, tasty and plentiful - lovely flavours. Staff very polite and do not keep returning to ask if everything is OK - I guess that's because they are sure of their product. If I had to have a niggle it would be at the plastic chairs - a little uncomfortable, but will definitely return and would whole heartedly recommend it.

18-02-2024 update... Brilliant meals again. Superb pace of service with everything virtually perfect. Everyone in my party extremely satisfied. There was only one thing that left me dismayed... When asking our waitress "What time was the happy hour?" the reply thst came back was "Oh, it varies each day." So take it as you will. The Happy Hour varies each day, and is a roulette of whether your meal is in happy hour or not... After all it varies daily! ----------------- The food was very good. Served at a relaxed pace, that allowed us to enjoy the experience. A pleasant atmosphere, a very nice setting, but I didn't think much to the plastic dining chairs. But this didn't detract from the overall experience. No doubt we will be back.

Came for Valentine’s Day and was great food was excellent and staff were very nice and friendly would come again

This spot is great for a casual or intimate night out. We are vegans and although there’s nothing marked vegan on their menu, the waiter and the chef were more than happy to accommodate us and we ended up with an aglio el olio, a garlic bread and an arabiatta. All was delicious and the wine washed it down perfectly. Will definitely be back.

Superb food and service. Really enjoyed our lunch here. I had the lasagne and was cooked perfectly. Service was perfect also.

We turned up last night Sat 3rd Feb, we hadn’t booked as it was early (our mistake) but they able to seat us as long as we were gone by a certain time (ok by us we had cinema tickets) the food was fantastic and the service was top notch. We both enjoyed every morsel, our starters were amazing and not small and the mains were fantastic. All in all I would definitely recommend eating here and again fantastic service.

As per usual a very high quality meal. Lovely friendly atmosphere and great value food. The Pizzas and pasta are always great. This is also the restaurant that is most guaranteed to result in empty plates from both my children. The kids portions are great.

We visited yesterday and were asked had we booked and because we hadn’t the young waiter wasn’t sure they had a table. Anyway they did and we were taken through to the back. But I was surprised to see three or four other groups in, so not busy. Whether it’s a thing with this place I’m not sure as we had gone in the week before and was rudely asked the same question,had we booked? The lady in question at the bar needs to brush up on her customer service skills as it seems she has an attitude problem. Why refuse custom when the tables front of house were empty, it just doesn’t make sense. So back to the recent visit. Lovely pizzas, thin base and really great tomato base also. Large kids portion of chicken and chips which was great. Happy hour a little bit expensive compared to other places I’ve visited. Lovely waiters who were on shift. Really pleasant and attentive. Toilets really clean which is a must for me personally. Main thing is the “have you booked question” even when they are empty needs to be re-thought. And the rude woman greeting at the bar. Sort your attitude out!!!

Good place to have a dinner in Lancaster, cheap and delicious. Also do not need to book or wait for a table for a long time, just walk in is OK. One shortage is do not have drink menu, but the staff will tell you what they have.

Came here for an evening meal. Starter and main course. Starter was superb: lobster ravioli, main course was mediocre: spaghetti bolognese, obviously home made which was a nice touch but a little too much fresh tomato flavour (for me at least). The spaghetti was a little over cooked and not al-denté. Service a little slow bur it was very busy. I'd come again having said that.

I am vegan and having read a previous review was a little apprehensive about having dinner here. I needn't have been. All the food is made to order and there was no problem when I asked for dishes to be 'veganised'. The food was absolutely delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely return!

Really delicious vegetarian and gluten free pasta dishes with excellent service. We had the Happy Hour menu which was really affordable. Not too posh but special enough!

Great local restaurant. We had a family celebration recently. Food and service were excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly.The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Took ages for them to take our order I had alot more sauce than pasta wasn't much pasta at all plus sauce tasted cheap like Asda meal brand. Waited ages to pay aswell to the point we just got up to pay on way out but then they saw us and came over they just weren't on the ball at all. I've been a waitress so I know the steps.

I cannot fault the food but the service and hospitality was very poor feom the manager of the resturant. We were celebrating my sons birthday and i asked if i could bring a few balloons and they said that was fine. At the resturant i placed the balloons on the table and scattered some sparkly things on the table and the manager walked over and said loudly i told you on the phone you were not allowed these. In fact she hadnt and i felt humiliated as other guests watched and gave me a sympathetic look. We were also informed we could not pay for our own food and had to have it itemised on one bill so with a party of nine it was dificult to work out who had paid for what. The younger members of staff were friendly and polite however the manager never smiled and looked miserable and stressed. The food was lovely but i would never return again due to the lack of hospitality and rude treatment. I felt it overshadowed my sons birthday and other guests at our table questioned why she looked so miserable. I would change the manager and you may keep gpod customers

We visited September 23, the food was lovely with amazing menu. The service was speedy , friendly and helpful. They even have gluten free pasta. Unfortunately a member of my party fell ill during dinner from the previous evening, the staff were so attentive and gave us take away packages to take the food back (we had literally just started), they were so fast and helpful we were back in the car within 10 minutes. Would definitely recommend this place.

I was used to go for lasagne, It's now got hardly any meat in and mostly balked out with tomato.

This place was recommended by a friend who had visited recently. What a complete gem. Relaxed, clean and friendly atmosphere. I had the lobster ravioli, (garlic pizza, olives and garlic/parmesan chips to share). Wow. The ravioli was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. My friend had Marinara pizza which was equally impressive. Great prices for impressive cuisine. We will most definitely be back. This place was worth travelling from Cumbria to Lancaster for 😃😃

This was a long overdue team outing for us - 10 in total. Making a reservation was easy and we confirmed on the day. Our food orders came quickly and we all enjoyed the meal. Despite a very long bill, there were no errors. The waiting team were both friendly and efficient. The kitchen looked busy. We really had a good night out - thank you!

Absolutely amazing gluten free pizzas. This place is consistently the best place in Lancashire for gluten free pizzas.

Great food, great service. Had a slight problem in that our daughters pizza had a rogue jalapeño which was her first inadvertent journey into the world of spice. We let out a belly laugh at the contorted face and asked the waiter of we could get a refill of lemonade. He fully did that with no fuss. It really wasn't a problem as this can happen with all the pizza and ingredients on the go in a busy kitchen. Needless to say work no fuss, the team deducted the price of the whole pizza and the lemonade. Lovely staff and we will be back for sure because the food is delicious as it has been every time we've been there. Top marks.

This is a lovely hidden gem in Lancaster and well worth a visit if you are a fan of Italian food. The garlic bread with cheese is amazing. The menu is absolutely huge - if a little overwhelming - with plenty of choice. Obviously, there is loads of pasta, as well as pizza and risotto. I've had two meals from here and enjoyed them both. They weren't absolutely outstanding meals, but they were very good. There are plenty of veggie options but you have to look for them as they are not labelled on the menu - this is one thing I think they could improve on.

Good food, gluten-free homemade pasta, and pizza dough are available on request. Lasagne and cannelloni are delicious. The garlic pizza and mozzarella was soaked in garlic butter yum! Clean, tidy, well presented but lacking a restaurant vibe, verging on the upmarket canteen style. Will be happy to go back.

Spaghetti House is a brilliant restaurant with a lot of main meals, sides and also many drinks to choose from. The only slight downside about this restaurant is that you need to pre-book it before going in. Other than that, thisbis a great restaurant and recommend you try it.

The food so niceee and fresh~I ordered Risotto Pescatora as main dish, and Ali Di Pollo as starter. Unexpected tastes! Definitely will try again😍 next time I will try 🍝 pasta.(BTW: I think the price is acceptable)

Cosy atmosphere but a little loud due to the small space the food was really good and the restaurant was nice, I'd say it's good for a nice meal.

Slightly odd entrance but once you are in and seated the place has a nice vibe and the open kitchen gives an insight into the food being prepared. Staff were attentive and polite and the food we had was really good. Would recommend.

Visited while in Lancaster with my Italian wife. How they can call themselves an Italian restaurant is beyond me. Bruschetta (which the staff could not pronounce) for some strange reason had chiese- it was terrible. The seafood risotto had congealed rice and strangely also peas. The prawn spaghetti was inedible with fresh tomatoes and packet spaghetti. We asked, of course. The chefs are not Italian (but its okay because English people like it!). We didn't. Only saving grace i that they didn't charge for the mains which we could not stomach So if you want to believe the other reviews then go and hopefully enjoy but don't believe for one moment that this is Italian.

Visited Sunday 12th Feb at 6pm for an early valentines meal. Seemed quite short staffed out front considering how busy it was but the 3 people working were fantastic, it was clear they were rushing a little bit and under a lot of pressure but they were all attentive, smiley, chatty, quick & overall brilliant service from them all - especially the young lady with glasses who seemed to be in charge this evening, she was running around keeping control of the place which was great as it was busy, and the young man who was behind the bar when we first arrived but took our payment at the table towards the end, he was very chatty with us and made sure we enjoyed our evening, so thank you! The food came out really fast which can sometimes be worrying/questionable but it was good, not really anything to complain about from us. Maybe some chutney or caramelised onion of some sort with the pate would’ve been nice but either way was ok. Pizzas were tasty and hot and the bill came to a very decent price. We had vouchers to use which is why we dined here in the first place but even if we didn’t have them the bill was very reasonable (about £63) for 3 starters, 2 pizzas, Parmesan fries, a double gin and a pint. Would come here again if we wanted a quick, easy and affordable meal and the happy hour menu is amazing, especially with all the struggles people are facing 😊 thank you x
