Pizza Margherita in Lancaster

Stumbled across this whilst waiting for a trip to the theatre. Even though they were fully booked, they did manage to squeeze us in (2 adults 2 children) servers were very friendly, food was amazing and dessert was tremendous. Next visit to Lancaster and we will definitely be booking this fabulous little restaurant.

Our second visit this week and delicious both times, as usual. My long awaited Capriciosa did not disappoint. I have not found better anywhere. I did once have one made up from the list of ingredients, in Fuerteventura some years ago, which lived up to expectations but have never come across anything as good since. The bases are supremely thin but strong enough to hold all the toppings. It is advisable to book, as it is busy most of the time. If only they did a 20" Capriciosa and opened a second restaurant near to where we live, then we could enjoy them every week.

We'd booked a table for a Thurs 7pm , place was almost full when we arrived! The premises doesn't serve draft beer sorry to say, bottled Italian beer is available. We ordered 1 x Alfresco and 1 x Sicilian pizza both 10". Pastry and toppings were delicious, the Alfresco was my favourite. Staff were very friendly & polite, place had a pleasant atmosphere, we'll be back again with friends.

Sorry but my wife and myself were a tad disappointed with our Pizza Express experience. This establishment is not somewhere we frequent as we don't go put very often but maybe attend here once a year when we meet up with my niece and daughter when they are over from the USA and it's always the night before they fly home. Anyway my wife booked a table for 9 people including 2 young children for 6.30pm with the lovely lady who runs this place. She is always very helpful and was told it was a special occasion as it was our nieces 18th birthday so she agreed she would decorate the table accordingly. Upon arriving (only 3 adults and 2 children at this time at 6.15pm) we were shown to our tables and that was the disappointing part as there were 2 round tables with a small round table in between which was certainly not what we envisaged. I noticed a large oblong table nearest to the kitchen that could have taken 8 people and only had 3 people sitting there, but I don't know the reason for this but it certainly took the edge off the meal. The young man who served us was on the ball providing drinks and venues without prompting.When everyone did show up at 6.40pm we were served our starters which were tasty but my mackerel patte had a slice of very dry orange which didn't look at all good. Nevertheless the starter was tasty. The main courses again were tasty and could not fault them but we had a long wait before our plates were cleared and sweet menues were offered. There was only our young man and a young girl waiting on with an elder lady who I presume was the stand in manager that occasionally served or cleared the tables. The sweets again were tasty and no complaints. Overall it really was just the tables and no decorations that was the annoying part and we wete left disappointed that we had not celebrated our nieces birthday like we should have

What an amazing, fantastic restaurant. The food is first class +. Delicious pizza, and the salad dressing is to die for. Not to mention the roulade dessert with vanilla ice cream, the like of which I have never tasted before. DELICIOUS!!! Staff are lovely - friendly, polite and efficient (I accidentally broke a glass - sorry - and within seconds they were there with a cloth to wipe up). I visit here once a year, but wish I could go more often.

Popped in on a Wednesday evening with the family and really enjoyed it. We opted for the 7inch pizzas, which seem a bit small at first but filled us all up nicely. The location is great and the staff were super friendly.

The shrimp starter was lovely as was the garlic mushrooms. One pizza was selected from the menu and one was made to order both so fresh with excellent flavours. Would recommend as a place to eat when in Lancaster would return again.

I first visited this glorious pizza emporium in 1979 when it first opened and many times during my 3 years at S Martin's college. Today ,more than 40 years later I returned. Absolutely delighted to see that my favourite pizza is still on the menu and that warm chocolate fudge cake features too Won't leave it 40 years until I return.

Lovely restaurant. Great service from the moment we walked in. Pizzas well made with a lot of topping. Pleasant atmosphere in nicely decorated, well lit room.

Me and my partner went for our anniversary. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were very friendly especially who served us whom I believe to be a manager. I'm a bit picky when it comes to pizza, nothing too fancy and basically no veg. They recommended a combination of different toppings based on my preferences and out of all the pizzas I've ever had, I think this is the best yet. I had BBQ Base, Smoked Chicken, pepperoni sausage and crispy parma ham. We even saved the garlic butter from the dough sticks to coat the crusts with. I'd recommend it to anyone it was unbelievable and should be a choice on the menu. The cobbled cheese and tomato rolls and dough sticks were a great starter and not too much to make you too full for the main. It's rare we have all 3 courses but after the pizzas we just had to have dessert. Salted caramel profiteroles were on point and the raspberry roulade was really good. Will definitely be going again hopefully soon.

Lovely building, staff are great. Here we go..... we both had the pizza, honestly, frozen Chicago Town pizzas are bigger with more toppings. The 10inch pizza is extremely small for around £13.00 not worth it.

The best pizza I've had for a very long time and lovely staff.

Food was good and arrived VERY quickly. The problem was even though the food had arrived, they got some of the order wrong (in fairness they took some money off the bill) we didn't have any cutlery. About 8-10 minutes later we caught the eye of a waitress and asked for cutlery and some garlic butter. A further 10 minutes later, after we had nearly finished the meal using our fingers, the waitress arrived with knifes and forks but no butter. The waitress was lovely and did all she could. I used to love coming here when i was younger so it's a shame to see what it has become.

Avoid if you can. Food was rubbish, no cuttlery or sauce/oils for the pizzas. Management had no feedback when the complaint was made other than she wasn't there when the order was taken. Wouldn't go there again

Considering they were busy, they sat us down quickly and efficiently. They looked after us very well and the food was delicious and hot. Amazing atmosphere and lovely staff. 100% coming back

Very disappointed, staff pleasant, but took 45 minutes from ordering for the pizzas to arrive. The bases were tough, couldn't cut through the dough. Maybe over cooked or had been kept warm for ages. The topping was a bare minimum and the cheapest smallest prawns I have ever seen. Not value for money at all. Not good, I won't be recommending or going back.

Service very disjointed, 3 pizzas arrived on cold plates, we waited for the last meal, which was a volcanic lasagne, so couldn't be eaten straight away . . . We had to ask for our (starter ) of garlic bread, as that had been forgotten, despite some members of staff hanging around. Ditto with coffee order. Spoilt the experience. Food very good though

Delicious Orient pizza, smothered in hoi sin sauce and duck. One of the best pizzas I've had in one of my favourite restaurants. Great friendly service as usual. Been coming for 30 years, for good reason. Wonderful 😁

Disappointing 😞. There was no charge for my poor meal, but that's not the point. It would have been good to speak to the person in charge, but she was clearly too busy. It's normally a great place but you are only as good as your last meal.

A gorgeous meal for my Grandma’s 81st birthday. We have been coming for years and it never faults. Great staff and even made us personalised special menus for our celebration. Great food for all. My nieces loved the cobbles, pick and mix and beano pizza. Utterly delicious. A must for any visit to Lancaster. Great pizza, great pasta and delicious desserts!

Service terrible, waited 1hr 10mins for food to be served. Food did not come out altogether and pasta dish did not live upto expectations. No complimentary bread sticks whilst waiting for food . Overall not a good experience.

Had an excellent meal, fantastic service despite it being a very busy New Year's eve. The food was so good with fresh ingredients. The Christmas cobbles special were especially tasty. Excellent service and the manager Ana puts customer service first and foremost. She is wonderful.

Pizza magherita never fails to impress! We brought some friends who live down south for a meal here, and as always they didn’t disappoint. The service is always welcoming, friendly and accommodating. We had range of starters, mains and desserts and not a complaint could be made. I love that you can see the pizzas being made to order and straight into the oven so you know what you are eating is a fresh as can be! I had one of the pastas on the menu and the flavours were just perfect. There is always such a lovely atmosphere there, whether you are going as a family or as a couple you won’t feel out of place. It really does cater to all needs! Our friends from London even commented that it was one of their favourite restaurants that they have been too! We are already looking forward to our next visit.

We have been coming here for years and never had a bad experience, it's now a favourite of our children as well. Good quality food, fantastic staff and service, Ana is a credit to the restaurant. The garlic breads are amazing, as are the pizzas, all made fresh, you can see the chefs hand stretching the dough and using fresh ingredients while you wait, which the children love. The Santa Cristina pasta is a firm favourite, as well as the Cannelloni. The table next to us on our last visit asked what we had, and ordered the Cannelloni herself, later saying that was the best Cannelloni she's ever eaten!! With a wide choice of desserts, there's always something for everyone. Definitely would recommend booking as it gets very busy. Looking forward to many more visits in the coming years 🙂

Went on new years eve after not having been in around 12 years. The pizza had no char to it at all, never seen a more sickly looking pizza. It didn't taste great either. Nothing like the amazing pizzas they used to make. I checked the other pizza's coming out too, it wasn't just mine, all looking like they've been microwaved instead of cooked in a real pizza oven. Tried some of my wife's lasagne, it tasted like a ready meal with added seasoning, and way way way too much cheese. There are classic Italian recipes for a reason, but clearly someone here thinks that they can do better than hundreds of years of traditional cooking. To add to the complete mess of a meal, coincidentally everyone in the family who had the lasagne now has a stomach bug. What the actual hell has happened to this place? It used to be great.

It was OK. The lasagne tasted nice, but the meat was poor quality, very gristley. I found a few arteries in mine which put me off. The cobbles tasted nice but were small.

We are regular diners at Pizza Margherita and have always found the service, the food and the atmosphere excellent. We would also add that we have no connection with the restaurant or staff. For those reading these reviews as a guide, we would suggest they look at the vast majority of opinions, mostly 5 Star, and ignore the very recent negative review. For reasons that do not need to be published in this case, it's important to understand that sometimes, those submitting a review can have an agenda or a grievance that has no connection with the food, the service or the building. (Enough said ?)

We had a fantastic meal, the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. It was a busy evening but the food came out in a timely manner, we all felt relaxed and not rushed. All the pizzas we had were so authentic, the bases were so fresh and crisp with just the right amount of topping, we could see the chefs hand stretching the dough from our table. Having been to Italy on several occasions, they brought back memories of pizza we ate there . It was lovely to enjoy a really good coffee to finish off our meal too. A wonderful little gem.

We've eaten here for 15 years. It is consistently excellent. The Pizza's are delicious and the Lasagne is fantastic. The kids love it too - its super for straight after school, Friday night treat!

Myself and my family visited here before going to Dalton square ice skating we didn’t book so it was by chance that we went. We were welcomed in and taken to a table which was lovely and clean with a Christmassy atmosphere The waitress took our orders and was very chatty and very professional.The food was absolutely gorgeous . All in all we had a fabulous time the restaurant was lovely and clean fantastic staff we would definitely recommend ,this won’t be our last time visiting.

As a regular customer at Pizza Margherita I always especially look forward to their Pizza Noelia and this year’s menu is no exception. Went in with my daughter before going to the cinema. The atmosphere was great and the service friendly. The food was excellent, pizza's made fresh and dessert was delicious. This is one of my daughter's favourite places to eat.

Lovely meal to celebrate our son's doctorate. Tasty, reasonably priced food and drink, attentive and friendly service and a great ambience. I used to come as a student in the 80s and I still enjoy it. Highly recommended.

Disgusting pasta, tasted like a microwave meal from Aldi. Understaffed. Even though there was a lot of staff there they were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving the customers. Waitress got the order wrong, brought the wrong wine. The restaurant was a dirty mess, falling apart inside and out. I could see a lot of pre-made pizza dough, so I know my pizza wasn’t fresh, low quality ingredients, bad atmosphere and terrible management. What an embarrassment. The people of Lancaster deserve better than this half-arsed joke of an “Italian” restaurant. It’s a shame because we always used to love this place in the 90s. It has gone seriously downhill. Don’t waste your money.

Pizza Margarita is our go-to restaurant in Lancaster and we always enjoy our visit but I'm afraid Saturday wasn't the most enjoyable experience. We couldn't fault our waitress. She was rushed off her feet and looked so stressed out. One table walked out. We were in the restaurant longer than we wanted to be. The food was nice except the salad, which was just lettuce leaves that had turned brown. Our waitress was very apologetic and removed the salad from our bill. It's a lovely restaurant, and perhaps more staff/chefs might help.

Wonderful hosts for a 60th Party. The food was perfect. The pizzas were tasty. The service was flawless and helped celebrate my mothers 60th. They catered for a gluten free member of the party with delicious pizza. The table was decorated and really added the personal touch to make it special. The staff were friendly and it couldn’t have been improved in anyway. Thank you

Just enjoyed a lovely evening here! The pizzas were great typical Italian style using the best ingredients, service was great we can’t speak French and they were very friendly and helpful when ordering. We’re staying in the area for 2 weeks so will definitely be returning. Thanks for looking after us!

This place was alright. The pizzas were bang on and the place was clean. However the service could have been better, no check backs and struggled to get their attention, looks like they where all in the back. Maybe it was a pre-shift briefing.

Not been here for ages as it is a little out of our way on the way home. Came here today as we were passing and realised what we were missing. Service and food was excellent and we will be coming back soon. 😋

Very nice waitresses but fair: an Italian should not cross the doors of this restaurant... the size of the pizzas... tiny... never seen that anywhere, in any country... it's ridiculous and shameful. Really a shame so little generosity on the plate. Enlarging the dough during making does not cost more. Brief !

I’d heard a lot about this place prior to visiting and was very excited. However, I was left feeling ‘is that it?’ The pizza was okay, the pepperoni slices felt like they’d been bought from a cheap supplier but the pizza it’s self was nothing to complain about and also nothing to write home about. We had ordered a bottle of wine which was not served chilled. It was a good thing we had a wine cooler with ice cubes in but when you’re spending £30 on a bottle of wine that is available to buy online for less than a tenner you expect it cold. The fixtures and fittings felt modern and clean however the flooring and hard fittings appeared dated and could do with some TLC, such as the damaged flooring. The toilets were old fashioned and not what I would have expect in terms of cleanliness. I did observe a lady on the table next to me complain about the pasta dish she ordered. Overall, pretty standard meal. Not sure I would return. Thank you.

Absolutely lovely interior, not very busy when we went at around 1pm ish. Food was lovely, though the dough sticks had a bit of an odd flavour on the underside the pizza was delicious and the service was lovely. Though be aware the toilets are upstairs.

Popped in on a busy Friday night unplanned with my son. Older server was absolutely awesome and fitted us both in, even though it was rammed. Service, food, waiting on staff and atmosphere was top drawer! Spot on, will visit again. Even my teenage son is still racing about it!

This restaurant has such a lovely, welcoming atmosphere and is well worth a visit. Rachel, our waitress, was fantastic and as always the food was fresh and delicious. The apple crumble pizza with hot custard for pudding was amazing!

Lovely and airy restaurant in the centre of Lancaster. Excellent freshly made pizzas with good service. I had the apple crumble pizza for dessert- it shouldn't work - but my word it does!

Small sizes. 4 of us left hungry. My 10 inch pizza looked like childs size. Not worth nearly 10quid. Lasagne came with no sides whatsoever. Just plain lasagne. Even pubs give salad and garlic bread on a side for half of what you charge. A place for higher society, we'll stick to our local where they have ketchup and mayo if you ask and not roll theire eyes at you like you asked for smth that hasn't been invented yet. Also 20 minute wait to order and 30 min wait to pay when plates left was bit tiring. We started planning on leaving cash on table and walking. No it was not busy. Waitresses were gathering in 3s having a chat. Would we come again- never. I like to feel full after spending over 60 pounds sorry.
