Where do I do I start with Fabian's Kitchen? It's just the best. The staff are friendly and very helpful and the food is just amazing. Whether you eat in or takeaway the food is tasty and full of fresh ingredients and there is just an authentic taste and full of flavour. We need to support small ventures and Fabian's deserves loyalty from local people with their amazing food and lovely service. Full marks from me

Notable that all the dishes were not too oily, spicy or salty, which can sometimes be the case from Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants.

Greeted by the funny & friendly Ali, who was very welcoming. He asked what my usual dishes were and said he’d create something special for me. The meal was top quality and extremely tasty with perfect accompaniments. Very reasonably priced and I will definitely call in next time I’m staying in Newtown.

This place is amazing 🤩 It is a definite place to eat when you go to Brecon. From the staff, the chutney tray and the food it is lovely. It gets very busy and they do their very best to accommodate walk ins but booking is much easier for all involved. Please visit.

Worst take away meal we’ve ever had from an Indian. Had a Makhani and a Mowgli. The food was very watery and absolutely tasteless. Even the pineapple ring had no taste. We’ve had this experience there before but decided to give it another try. Most of my husband’s food went in the bin.

We used to use the Palace many years ago and after returning to the area thought we would pay it a visit - sadly a mistake. The evening didn’t start well. We were asked to wait rather than being seated while the staff sent out take aways. When we were seated the room for diners was cold. Guests were eating with coats on…. We ordered a drink and poppadoms and main courses. The main courses arrived nearly an hour after we entered the restaurant. The staff told us they had been prioritising take aways. The lamb dish advertised on the menu was really poor. There were four slithers of lamb and the meat was tough. The Chicken Balti was also not good - the dish was ruined by far too much rough cut onion. When this was pointed out to staff the response was to try and tell us that this is how the dish is served in India - laughable. Please don’t tell brummies how a balti is served India - we invented it…. After making polite observations to the staff they went into a sulk. We won’t be returning.

Sunday night , we travel when we can to here from Tenby only 74 miles , stay at the Wellington Hotel ( see separate review ) This is the best Indian by a long long shot . Food is amazing . This time it was the best Onion Bhagis as starter followed by for Linzi Handi Lamb Slow cooked lamb in an intense aromatic curry of caramelised onions and yoghurt. Flavoured with mace, cardamon & dry-rose petals. Scented with whole garam masala and for me Chicken Dalwala Small pieces of chicken tikka cooked with fried potatoes, pieces of lemon, selected spices and herbs in a thick lentil sauce, medium strength, very nice and tasty, Chapati for me , Linzi had a Peshawari Naan , and we shared two portions of Pilau Rice , now two days on and I am still saying out a loud " god that was a good meal . Already planning a trip back up to Brecon . We like Sunday night as traffic on the roads quiet and the Sunday in the restaurant also apart from a Vegetarian drunk and her partner we had the staff and restaurant to our selves . It's a shame what alcohol and vegetables can do to some one !! Back soon love this place did I mention the big portions. PS I like a restaurant where they welcome you back with a smile and a nod of exceptantance of welcome back mr Tenby .

Check your bill before paying. The last time we were charged for a whole bottle of wine instead of a small glass. We had to ask to see the bill before paying, which felt very sneaky. The only reason we asked to see the breakdown was because we had a warning from some friends who have been charged extra recently. Seems like it's happening too many times for it to be innocent, which is a shame because the food is great, and a really nice atmosphere.
