Gulshan in Powys

We had a sit down meal here tonight, service was excllent, food was quick and delicious. We had the seat meal for two which was really good value for money.

Greeted by the funny & friendly Ali, who was very welcoming. He asked what my usual dishes were and said he’d create something special for me. The meal was top quality and extremely tasty with perfect accompaniments. Very reasonably priced and I will definitely call in next time I’m staying in Newtown.

Absolutely fabulous meal, very extensive menu and the food was excellent! The service was also top notch, especially the charming (tall) waiter!

Excellent Indian (Bengali) food and outstanding service! from We weren’t familiar with many of the dishes, but we followed the recommendations of our friendly and knowledgeable server Ali and were very pleased that we did. We had the mixed starter, which had lamb, beef and chicken bites with different sauces, a bhaji with assorted dipping sauces, then for the main dishes my husband really liked the naga chilli chicken (delicious flavor but too hot for me) and I really enjoyed the tasty lamb honja.

Called in for an evening meal with work colleagues. Lovely food with fantastic, attentive, welcoming and friendly service. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.p Will definitely be back next time I'm in Newtown.

We got a takeaway from here last year on our holidays & decided that the next time we were in the area we would sit in. We forgot to book & just turned up, we did get there early but it did start getting busy. Had a lovely welcome, Staff very friendly & helpful, my husband normally has Tikka Masala wherever he goes but decided to trust the Gentleman & ordered something recommended (which he loved). We have actually booked a table for the last evening of our holiday too.

Everything tasted fresh and was well-presented, with evident care and creativity. Staff very friendly and attentive. Helped me choose a special that was a step up from a madras. If you aren’t on a whole bottle of wine, the by-glass options could be more, but what I had was totally fine. Recommended for sure!

We dined at Gulshan while we was on a short break to Powys. The lady who owned the lodge recommended Gulshan to us. The food was amazing and the garlic chicken was the best I had ever eaten. It’s such a shame this restaurant is so far away from home or we would be here all the time. Service was unbeatable, the gentleman who served us, could not have done enough. Highly recommend!

This place is fantastic. Lovely menu with great choices. The staff are excellent have great knowledge of the menu and dishes and can easily recommend dishes depending on your taste. Glasses were never empty, service was excellent and the staff were very friendly I have never enjoyed a night out so much. Thankyou for a brilliant evening.

As we were off to the theatre that evening, the opening time really suited, but what really suited us was the tasty food and the welcome from Ali, who was great fun and very professional. It may sound like a detail, but the chapatis were great. We plan to visit when next we're near Newtown

Really great meal. Couldn’t decide what to have but I suggested something quite hot with chicken, and they brought a surprise. Turned out to be naga chilli chicken and it was fab!

Having seen the other positive reviews on here, we wanted to try Gulshan, and we loved it! The poppadoms were as light as air, and the food was fragrant and extremely tasty. Our waiter was very friendly, polite and helpful, and the restaurant was very clean. We will definitely be coming back here again on further visits to Newtown!

This restaurant was amazing from start to finish the man at the front of the house couldn’t be more helpful and kind , I cannot remeber his name but he had glasses and was so polite and welcoming the whole time ! One of the best Indians I’ve ever had !!

When we arrived we were greeted with warm friendliness. We were given very good advice and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful food - all delicious! Will definitely return again - and looking forward to it!

We had a take away from Gulshans and the food was fantastic!! I ordered the chicken dhansak and my wife the lamb shashlik which were both gorgeous. Keema nan was great too. I picked the order up and the restaurant itself was spotlessly clean. I was even shown the kitchen which was as clean as a kitchen could be. The staff were very friendly too. If in the area again, I would definitely come back, this time to eat in. Thanks.

Went here for my bday dinner and it was banging. Every dish was flavours and everybody loved it. And there were leftovers to take home which was even better. The boss men were super friendly and funny overall great guys. Even got a selfie with the waiter he was that cool of a don.

Friendly, very warm, welcoming and attentive during whole meal without being intrusive. Excellent food with homemade twist on some dishes which were delicious and made a nice change as a frequent visitor to Indian restaurants.

Couldn't reccomend enough! Really good service, Ali is an absolute star and nothing was too much trouble for him! Food was fresh and we had a good variety off the menu and all was great! Definitely worth a visit if in Newtown, or for a stop off when travelling up North.

My Mrs and myself wanted a date night. I treated her to a Indian and took her here. As we walked in the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and tasty. I actually said to my Mrs this is the best Indian I have ever had, I usually have a curry lamb and the lamb has never been as tasty and tender as here, the lamb just falls apart in your mouth. My Mrs had a chicken korma and I tried a little and we both said how delicious it was. We will be definitely coming here again.

Upon booking a table over the phone to leaving the restaurant, the staff, service and food was lovely! Superb service, food and prices. All food fresh and taste. I often work away from home and they fully understood I did not need a whole evening solo. So served promptly with no big intervals. And no compromise on taste!

Found the staff to be efficient, courteous, entertaining and helpful. Combined with the quality of the food where the intention was clearly on taste and not just spiciness alongside the ambience I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Impressive.

Just finished a meal here staff were fantastic very attentive without being overpowering, loved the recommendations for my korma dish food was well cooked and portions were just right. Lovely relaxing atmosphere we are on holiday currently but would recommend to anyone.
