Food was good until it wasn't 😳. There was something gritty in my curry after I'd eaten most of it. I told the staff about this and they weren't able to offer any recompense for this sadly. Need to brush up on their customer service. I actually enjoyed most of the food and don't like leaving a duff review. This doesn't appear to be the usual offering fortunately.

Very friendly staff are always helpful and have a smile. Good deal on half price mains on a Tuesday is worth going for. Food is fresh and well cooked it's delicious if a little more spice than we usually find but it's not super hot, just a nice kick on the 2 chilli labelled dishes. 4 starters, 4 mains, 3 naan, 2 sides and a round of drinks cost us just over £80. Good for a treat.

Visited most Indian Restaurants within a 20 mile radius and Spice UK remains our favourite. Friendly staff, well priced and most importantly excellent food.

We visited whilst staying in the Welshpool area during half term. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was superb. We had the vegetarian platter and meat samosa to start, followed by a lamb tikka main and a chicken tikka achari. All the sundries - naan, rice, poppadoms - all wonderful. Definitely worth a visit!

Food was disappointing. Lumps in rice, lamb not very tender. Atmosphere was good and the restaurant was busy as we're take aways. Overcharge for drinks but it was corrected when pointed out.

The food was gorgeous and a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for our meal which came out at different times. My son ordered chicken and chips, but scampi came out. He took a bite -lucky he's not allergic to seafood! They took it away and we waited again for the correct dish! They forgot 1 naan even though we reminded them a few times! I understand that they were really busy.

Excellent food and excellent service. Absolutely can't fault it. There is a very extensive menu to choose from. When I couldn't decide what to have, I was asked if I like mild, medium or hot, then was told, "don't worry, I'll just ask the chef to make you something nice", so I've no idea what I had, but all I can say is it was totally delicious. Can highly recommendand will definitely be back. The interior is beautiful and deceiving from the outside, so don't be put off going in, you won't regret it.

Popped in to order a starter and side, got it home to have 2 of the same thing rang to tell them so took it back got back home both dishes were in there with the nan I ordered all to be freezing cold, will not use this Indian again very overpriced and very bland

Sat 4th Table booked for 730pm, you could see they were clearly busy but waited 2 hrs for food but in the mean time were handed 1 plate of poppadoms (not ordered) when the food did arrive it was cold and sent back. Overall not the greatest of food for menu price they ask. When it came to paying I asked if there would be any sort of discount as we patiently waited 2 hrs for cold food( they were still doing a take away service, as you could clearly see the bags coming from kitchen to front of desk) I was told there wouldn't be any as this isn't a fast food chain (Clearly) I then queried the bill and was told he'd seen us eating poppadoms so they were added and of course the sauces! I replied we hadn't even ordered those and thought they were complimentary because we all had been patient..... He replied there isn't anything free from here.... He was quite smarmie and knew what he was doing and clearly had been doing this many times... Never ever will I mention this place again. Avoid or definitely check your bills!

A group of us are visiting the area for a Few days, this place wasn’t our first choice! Seen as no where delivered we’d decided to go to this place and collect. Apart from the total amount being too expensive for a nice curry, turns out it’s way overpriced for the quality you get. We had 3 main curries I couldn’t even eat mine I looked at it and put it back. 2 of my friends ate their curries and through the night have both been sick! I know people like to say it but this is by far the worst Indian I’ve ate.

Lovely very tasty, I had butter chicken with rice and lovely Nan bread melted in your mouth all food was excellent very tasty my only sadness was the waiters seemed more interested in the take out service we were sat waiting for long times for any service

We were shocked when the bill came to £101! We added up all of the items on the bill and it in fact came to £92 but there was a 10% VAT charge at the bottom? We were told to pay at the front so I took the bill to who I believe is the manager and said that the total was incorrect and queried the 10% VAT charge stating that VAT is 20% and it does not say anywhere on the menu that we need to add VAT. He said that he pays 10% VAT and we pay the other 10%… dodgy? Straight away I knew he was trying to pull a fast one by adding to our bill. We continued to query and one of his colleagues came over saying to him “we will claim it back next week” and the man then said “ok this time you can pay lower price”. We paid the £92 and left but I want to warn others to please check your bill! I won’t be returning.

I ordered a mixed veg curry, bhindi curry, veg parotha, chicken rogan josh , garlic naan. We waited whilst the chefs cooked up our food up. Prep was really hygienic and speedy! My fella loved the complimentary mango dip and popadoms

Poppadoms very good, fresh with pickles etc. Ordered a chicken tikka dopiaza for main, very disappointing, expected lots of unions and peppers, there were none, just pieces of chicken, with a slice of pineapple, in fairly bland sauce. Some friends and I were passing through town and decided to go to Spice UK. From the moment we walked in the staff were cold towards us, but at that point I thought it's just been a long day for them. After we ordered it took them over 40 minutes to get us our food. We tried to get the waiters attention multiple times to see where our food was and the best answer we got was "5 minutes". 15 minutes after that we got our food. I'll give credit where credit is due, the food was good. Well seasoned, with generous portions. We finished our meal and asked for the check, fast-forward another 15 minutes and check is nowhere in sight. Couldn't wait any longer and went to the front where some of the staff were just chatting. Asked for the check again and they answered that they don't want to take them to the table and ask us for money. As a consolation they offered us some small pieces of chocolate. Wanted to add that the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. TLDR : Food is good, but the service is horrible.

Rang for collection from Albebury and told an hour. Get here a bit early - no cards so got to get cash. Another customer been waiting 45 minutes. Now 6:10 and still no food. Better be good or I'll edit the stars. Edit - food was slightly better than average but if the welsh lamb had been slow cooked as advertised, then I'm a banana!!!

Without any doubt the best Indian food and service in the area. Always consistantly fantastic food. Unbeaten Tandoori Chicken Malayan biriyani and chicken tikka pathia.. cannot rate this place highly enough. You will not be disappointed.

I can't speak highly enough about the food at Spice UK. It puts most curry houses around the UK to shame. Whenever I'm home, I always make a point of visiting because it's just that good. A real gem in Welshpool and worth the trip. The decor is very dated though and in need of a spruce up.

Picked up a takeaway from here tonight for five of us, a mix of different Currys from mild, to rip your insides out with heat. The food was absolutely fantastic, I've had Currys from all over the UK but this place was outstanding. And even after the 8 mile trip back to accommodation the food was hot, fresh and everyone commented on how good the food was. I highly recommend this curry house and will be going back again,

First visit yesterday, but it won't be our last! We booked on the recommendation of a local person and were not disappointed. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, the food was perfect. One of our party couldn't decide what to have, the waiter asked for her likes and dislikes, went away and came back with a curry made just for her, which she said was one of the best she'd ever had. We were in quite early, so it was fairly quiet, although filling up by the time we left. The takeaway bags were going out in a steady stream, so the kitchen was busy despite a quiet restaurant, however the service was quick without being rushed. The food was fresh and delicious. The staff were friendly, polite, helpful, I can't fault anything.

This is our go-to Indian in the area. Takeaway is great, but definitely eat in for the best experience. Staff are friendly and the food is prepared well. There's a huge variety on the menu, and I haven't had anything from here that wasn't top notch. You'll always come away very full, even just having a main with no starter.

We had dinner at Spice UK tonight. I had the chicken Achari and my spouse had the prawn Pathia. Both dinners were delicious. Ingredients were fresh and flavourful. The garlic naan was wonderfully soft. We also had vegetable pilau rice. Overall, a great dining experience!

I don't like being ripped off, so got home and checked their website drinks price list to find that they should have charged £3 less. emailed them no response, phoned then at 2 weeks later and at almost 3 weeks they emailed me back to say that the price was correct, and it was a large glass of wine - it wasn't and nor did we order that. Service was also lousy, 3 times they tried to deliver other peoples drinks to our table, gave me the wrong starter too. It was £55 for 2 drinks and very small portions. Won't be going back, go to Spice Fusion instead, cheaper and better service.

It wasn’t until I got home and my wife asked how ho much the meal was that we realised it wasn’t right it should have been £50 without the 10% off but he charged £60 as others have said they add vat on top which is not right. I wouldn’t have minded if the food was amazing but it was awful thick doey nan breads,soft popadoms, soggy chips, tiny over microwaved chicken tikka starters and the chicken in the curry’s was chewy. If you’ve got loads of money and enjoy sh1t food fill your boots if not go to spice fusion it’s the best one in town or pop to the raj in forden bar far best around.

Visited Spice Uk last night. Food was excellent as was the service. Will definitely be returning. The restaurant managed the new COVID 19 regulations seamlessly. Our experience here was not devalued in any way by these new regulations.

Had a take away tonight. Lovely and loads of food. We had chicken korma and veg fried rice. We will be back.

On route from Barmouth we stopped for a quick munch, due to the Covid pandemic and rules being different in Wales the restaurant was closed off but the takeaway section was open, never the less the waiter was absolutely phenomenal with his service and the cheff him self came out to say hello.The chicken tikka biryani was the best biryani the fragrance, the potion, the texture, the taste was tantalising!You can't beat the Bangladeshis when it comes to food and hospitality. Thank you verry much. Great experience and definitely recommended.

We have used Spice UK several times since moving to the area in Oct 18 - in its own right this tells that the curry here is fairly good. I am writing this review today, however, because the restaurant has let me down a little this evening, on 2 counts: firstly, they charged me significantly more than my order totalled with their prices from their website, and when challenged on this they didn't honour their online pricing. Secondly, they have changed some of their dishes, and not to the better; my favourite Chicken Makhani now is no longer topped with lashings of double cream but instead has a single slice of 'plastic' burger cheese - not good. Overall, their dishes are still ok, but with increased pricing and less appetizing dishes, my overall rating has dropped to 'Average'.

Admittedly it had just opened for the day but you would think the heating would be on in advance of opening for paying customers.On reviewing the Menu it was commented between ourselves about the high prices.Food was less than average. Chicken Tikka was dry. Chicken Tikka Biriani was ordered for my main. Might be wrong but it looked to me that it had just been reheated in a microwave! Very dry meat in it as well.Overall unimpressed with the food but then the shock was with the bill.10 % added to the final bill for VAT ! This wasn’t noticed before ordering on the menu. On questioning it with the waiter, I was told this had been done for over 11 years he had been there ! It’s a new one on me that eating in 10% VAT is added on to the final bill. Normally VAT is included in the price. I was also under the impression VAT is at 20% ? No VAT number available as well ?Shall not return.

Food was lovely, tasty and plenty of it. However our booking wasn't written down even though it had been booked over a week in advance. Asked for a highchair and they forgot that too. They found an old one in the back which almost collapsed under my child. Shame because the food was nice

We've eaten here twice and used their takeaway service also. Decent food every time, though I don't recall any real 'wow factor'. Perfectly adequate overall.

We regularly come to Spice UK. The staff is friendly and always makes us feel welcome. The food is delicious. If asked, the manager will even make suggestions on dishes and ask the chef to adjust spices for us. We have experienced some truly great taste experiences because we have asked him about specialities of the restaurant. The menu is quite varied with something for most people. I

Ordered and waited. We were given extra popadoms and sauces. Food was good and hot and very tasty. CT Ceylon was great flavour, veg dishes also good. Naan fresh and fluffy. Staff very polite and friendly. Good experience overall.

Called in for a simple takeaway meal . Chicken was salty & tasteless, as was the balti curry sauce. Garlic Nan was green & soggy.

Dishes were being whipped out from under noses when incorrect food was put down, and then rice taken from a friend at the end of the table when asked where is my rice please? Lol! We booked a table for 7pm for 14 people, 11 of who are severely sight impaired.The restaurant was busy, and 4 people took a table to the side of us.It took a while to get our starters, but it was 9pm before we were served our main course. By which time the table for 4 had finished their meal and left. 4 of us complained that the chicken in our meal was tough and dry and the korma source was very weak. The bill came in at £329, so we asked for a discount due to the poor service and poor meals.After some time £14 had been taken off the bill.We certainly won't be going there again, and wouldn't recommend it.

Me and my husband have been eating here on and off for 7 years when we stay in Powys. We went on a Monday evening and took our little boy this time. The staff are always friendly and helpful and they made sure we were happy with our food and entertained our little boy-our waiter provided a high chair and a meal for him to enjoy. Every time we visit the food is the brilliant and the best curry we’ve had! The bar man recognised us from our previous visits even tho they’re months in between each other and offered us a drink and a lollipop for my son free of charge. We will definitely be returning next time we’re in the area.

BEWARE ILLEGAL SCAMMERS This place thinks it's OK to put a 10% "VAT" charge on top of the prices you see on the menu. On top of that the service is pretty atrocious. Avoid at all costs. I'm in the process of reporting them to Trading Standards.

Went here after reading reviews on TA. Good choice on menu. Just had poppadoms and chutneys for starter and two main courses, 1 side dish and 1 rice and 1 naan bread. No alcoholic drinks just 2 halves of coke. Asked waiter to ask the chef to make one of the mains (a vegetable Madras) with a little less oil. Big mistake. When it arrived there was about an inch of oil covering the dish. Even the waiter said " still oily" smiled and walked off. It was greasy tasteless rubbish. Other dish was ok but nothing special. And the experience cost just under £40. Would not go again.
