This is a Tamil restaurant. It did not feel sri Lankan by any means! With that said, the food was insanely greasy and we felt queasy after we had it. The stipulation that we couldn't share the banana leaf thali did not make any sense, especially at the 45$ price point. It wasn't clear to us what the difference between a banana leaf special meal and a regular thali was other than a 25$ difference in price. The service was dearly lacking in that we weren't told what we'd get in the banana leaf thali, and we ended up ordering the polichi kozhi, which featured in the thali anyway (this item is probably the quickest way to a heart attack on planet earth given the oil that was oozing out of it) The thali itself was mediocre. The fish entrees were poor. There was no parotta included. All the curries tasted the same. The vegetarian options fared slightly better than the non vegetarian options. The only thing that probably stood out was the yogurt that came with the thali. We will not be returning to this one as we left with a puky feeling.

What can I say this place is fantastic! The staff were really welcoming and the food was stunning. Very reasonable for the price and a single portion enough for two! I will definitely be back!

Excellent curry restaurant! Chicken was cooked perfectly.. Not grainy and chewy like some places. Great flavour, food came hot and they gave some complimentary condiments. Delivery was FREE via their website and it came bang on time. Will be ordering again

Had a delivery & the meal was awful. Couldn't use a fork had to eat it with a spoon!! as it was like a cheap soup, all liquid & no substance. Lacked flavour & spices. Paid over £30 for cartons of soup! Would not recommend & will certainly not be ordering from here again

We ordered on Uber eats based on the 4.5star reviews. Uber being late and sending a child to drop off our order half an hour late was not the restaurants fault … what was though is the appalling food. Butter chicken with coconut? Really? The seasoning was terrible, while the chicken itself was tender it was essentially colourful boiled checked. The paneer was cooked properly so that was a plus. The korma (base should be cashews) was full of coconut again… I should have stuck with my gut and not ordered from a place that has non North Indian spelling for things like Motor Poneer (should be Mattar Paneer if truly North Indian) but it’s Diwali and I’ve been sick, so thought I’d risk it. Never again!

Staying in an Airbnb 5 minutes away so I popped in last night to grab some food to eat back at the cabin. Friendly staff. My home town is full of Indians and they are all very disappointing. Tried this place on the off chance and we were very happy. Well cooked, incredibly well priced. If you’re in the area - stop by!

UPDATE: This is not Royal Spice anymore, we ordered take away from this place now called Spice Fusion and has nothing to do with Royal Spice standards, unfortunately we are not ordering from this place anymore. Absolutely delicious food! The chicken tikka balti is phenomenal with lots of fresh coriander. This is my go to in Tunbridge Wells when I want a curry.

Just got a takeaway and honestly the chicken was inedible. I think cooked & refrozen (and then cooked again). Whatever the cooking process, it’s not good. Weird freezer-burn taste and tough. I’ve been there once before & it was the same. Tried tonight as my couldn’t get to my usual takeaway as the A21 is closed. Was persuaded by some recent good reviews - curry houses have bad nights etc. Food is quite 90’s - sweet packet-derived sauces etc. Don’t mind that too much as takeaway is more about a night off. But the chicken. Guys come on - just cook it fresh. People have taste buds and I think value their health. given we’re in lockdown you can’t rely on a hoard of smashed idiots (me in non-lockdown) falling in to your curry house. Should be one star really. Staff are really nice so feel bad about putting this here. However, I’ll be the first to come back if you start cooking nice meals. You are after all the only curry house in cranbrook. However keep producing crap like I’ve just eaten and you’ll go bust.
