We had a fabulous evening, 24 of us enjoyed the superb food, efficient, friendly service and excellent value for money. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

I ordered food from you guys this evening 27/10/23 i ordered 12 items which came to a total of £46.45 the food was amazing had loads of taste and it was at the right temperature to eat straight away i then realized about half an hour after I collected my order that I was missing a cheese and garlic nan bread I can back and said about it everyone there was polite and understanding and very helpful the only bad thing I have to say is the butterfly king prawn was very Crispy on the outside but other then that it was a very nice meal will definitely be coming back again

We have had numerous take outs and deliveries from here. We try and order something different each time. Our food has always been hot,fresh and delicious. The staff are amazing! The negative comments from the end of last year were the result of staffing problems…..I know because I have been a driver for them. As a family….we are fanatic foodies!!!! Would we continue to use somewhere that is not up to scratch?’! Not on your Nelly. Jay and his team rock. Please don’t listen to the negativity……listen to the positivity!

I had a truly romantic time with Sandra from the fish and chip bar. The prawn crackers where dreamy would defo recommend to people who love there food with a spicy hot date.

Visited 22nd March in a party of five at 6pm. Ordered drinks and food, no one else in restaurant until about 6.45 apart from the take-away customers. Food arrived, so disappointing, our order managed to have caused confusion in the kitchen. Not really what we ordered. Food tasted very sweet.Service very poor.

The service was exemplary, the food was absolutely delicious, not at all greasy and really fresh tasting. Portion size was decent. Wish we lived closer to come here more often.

We had a meal in the Prince of Kent last night before our visit to the Kino cinema. The meal was excellent, very good taste, lots of meat and sauce in the curry, good portions of spices with the popadoms... We were mainly served by AJ, who had a great sense of humour, was very personable and made our visit that bit more special/enjoyable. Definitely going back to try some of the other curry offerings.

This used to be our go too curry house for a solid 2 years Now the last two times it has been bland and neither taste of anything other than oil. When complained they do rectify and replace but its still not nice. The onion bhaji are like onion rocks. Safe to.say we will be looking for an alternative curry house. They have a new chef and when we raised our concerns the manager said they .have heard alot that the food has gone downhill Such a shame

Just a quick review of this excellent Indian restaurant when I was visiting this weekend with friends. Very welcoming and a huge range of food and drink. Went for a dish I have never had before and it was fantastic. Really recommend if you are in the area. Enjoyed by all 4 of us that attended. Thank You.

I would not recommend this restaurant. The service was very friendly but the food was at best bland. Most dishes that we ordered were sickeningly sweet. Even the garlic naan was sweet. Another ‘feature’ of most sauces was that they were thickened by a type of granular yogurt that the cook had not even bothered to mix in well. Given their red coating, the chicken pieces in the Kashmiri chicken and the Butter chicken were clearly reheated leftovers from Tandoori chicken. The sauce for the Kashmiri chicken was also vividly purple and it had canned lychees in it. Awful and strange. While the cook clearly likes sugar, none of the desserts are homemade. As I did not understand how this restaurant had such a high rating on Tripadvisor, I asked the waiter if their local customers want their food this sweet and was told that they do. Maybe I lived too many years in India to understand this. The restaurant was quite empty, though.

Sehr guter Inder, auch Essen zum Mitnehmen. Aber Vorsicht, die Gerichte sind relativ scharf, auch für Leute, die indisches Essen gewohnt sind. Man kann unkompliziert online bestellen und dann abholen.

Lovely decor, great service and superb food. I liked being given popadoms and a drink before having to give our order. Meant we could chat and look at the menu without pressure. The waiter was very friendly and helpful explaining certain dishes. The food was delicious and beautifully served. I wish restaurants served half portions because we left a lot and we both like different heats. They did offer us to take leftovers home. The other thing I really liked was I love onion bahjis my husband hates them. They let me order just one bahji to have with my meal. It was lovely. The Peshawari naan superb. I had Sali chicken which was cooked in herbs. Delicious. Husband had chicken razala. Slightly too hot for him. But delicious none the less and he ate it. We are comparing with other Indian restaurants as this was our first visit after moving to this area. We also had mushroom bahji and sag aloo. All good great flavours. It was a Thursday evening and quite busy so obviously popular. My only criticism is when you go to the toilets which are very clean, outside are the staff stairs and that area looked unpleasant with a bucket and mop - it just all looked scruffy and dirty and detracted from the overall impression. My advise would be to shut this area off behind a door. We will definitely return and hope take always are as good.

I have an absolutely Splendid meal at prince of Kent on Saturday. The staffs were polite and friendly. Particularly, Jim. Since i had to choose the right dish from the huge selection of dishes. Being from Newcastle, I was travelling with my wife and having to experience indian in the South-east was really a great treat. Sure, a second visit contender if we're around again.

Annoyed because last time I ordered, I ordered a selection of dips for my poppodons but got four of the same, couldn’t be bothered complaining. Just ordered now minus popadoms! Can’t get through on phone so paid not only for dips but poppodons I haven’t received. Waste of money during a cost of living crisis!

Visited on 14th May to dine with friends. The venue is really comfortable, clean and altogether pleasant and the staff are beyond fabulous. I don't drink much alcohol and instead asked for a ginger beer with lime lime but they didn't have ginger beer. Instead I ordered lime and soda and the next thing I receive a lovely glass of ginger and lime because they had taken the trouble to go out and buy some ginger beer for me. That is real service and with the food being so good we shall be going back again and again.

My wife and I had a very decent quality North Indian dinner; well above the average. The food was tasty and there was good variety in the menu. Well worth another visit.

i prebooked a table for my 29th birthday cold food waiters not bothered in service rather deal with online orders over 100 mins later still no mains small drinks when charged for large poor service when you order you get it in bits and pieces...

Didn't book a table but were welcomed non the less. Very attentive staff but not too much. Menu very comprehensive. Basic Indian dishes but also quite a few Specials. Great poppadoms and loads of chutneys to start. Reasonable wait for Main dishes and all piping...

Food excellent, service first class, great atmosphere for those who remember the original curry houses with authentic music and a mixture of tables and booths. Worth a visit without doubt.

Spent £39 on a takeaway meal for my Wife's birthday tonight. Chicken tika starter was dry.. Chicken kashmiri contained the same dry inedible chicken tika... Chicken Sali contained yet more dry overcooked chicken.. The puree bread was swamped in grease.. Mango chutney had the consistency...

Traditional Indian restaurant, the service was attentive and the food really delicious. We had a very nice booth, started with some poppadoms and had a vindaloo (very spicy and tasty) and a house special chicken sila, with various sides. Food arrived at a nice pace...

This is our favourite Indian restaurant in the area. The food is superb with traditional curry as well as luxury specials. The wine list is particularly high quality. Fully recommend.

We are so lucky to have such a fantastic Indian restaurant in our village. Had a take out (due to covid) to celebrate my birthday. Jay & the team went that extra mile -as always- by opening up especially for me at lunchtime on a Sunday. Delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by my Mum & Husband too. When restaurants are allowed to open again it is well worth visiting for a sit down too.

Had a delicious takeaway last night (home delivery) and it arrived spot on time. Food was hot and every dish was fantastic. Can’t recommend the chicken pathia enough and the bhindi bajee is one of the best I’ve had! Never disappoints!

Tried this takeaway for the first time and what we collected was amazing unfortunately the onion bhajee was missing which was an important factor of our vegetarian meal I would use them again but would take everything out if the bag and make sure the whole order was there. One day I’ll order a curry and it will all be there lol What we had was tasty though.

Ordered 2 curry’s, naan, rice and 2 poppadoms for only £25 including delivery. Absolutely delicious food, was at the door within half an hour. Very impressed!

We've eaten at The Prince of Kent many times over the past few years and it is absolutely faultless. Whilst lockdown is going on we've had a couple of takeaways and again the food is so delicious. It's the best indian i've had and my partner loves the lamb chops specifically.

My daughter tried to order me a meal for my birthday but when she spoke to Jay he said unfortunately they were closed on mondays. However when she explained that it was for my 71st birthday he said he would make a meal for me on wednesday as a gift. The meal was excellent it consisted of zaal chicken, lemon rice, 2 poppadoms and a nan bread. Since the meal I have been informed that Jay Ahmed and his staff offer free meals to NHS staff and the elderly self isolating and will deliver. Amazing. Well done the Prince of kent.

This place is amazing! We live in the next village and during lockdown they are delivering. We tried their takeaway service tonight for the first time. THE FOOD WAS AMAZINg!! One of the nicest curries we have had for a long time. We will be giving our local restaurant a miss now and will be using the Prince of Kent in future. Thank you so much!

Absolutely a gem of an Indian. food was delivered hot and cooked to absolute perfection good healthy portions worth every penny 5***** review and deserves it

My partner and I attempted to have dinner here, however, we are both vegan, and despite it stating on tripadvisor that they have 'vegan options', there aren't any. The waiter was very nice and polite and apologetic, and in fairness, did try to suggest items that could possibly be made without ghee, but didn't seem to fully understand what we meant by vegan. As we were unsure that we could be catered for, and there was no indication on the menu, we chose to go elsewhere. We paid for the 2 drinks we had ordered (a coke and gin) and a few poppadoms, and were charged £13 for this! I can only presume this included a table service charge, which for the 10mins we were in there on a quiet night, seems unjustified.

The food at this restuarant is delicious but we were shocked to be told by friends that the Food Standards Agency have rated this curry house with just 1 star in July 2019. So sadly we won't be returning until that rating goes up, up, up! If you're not bothered by hygiene then definitely go, the food is yummy and the staff friendly!

Found this place accidentally at the end of November and couldn't have been more pleased. The food, staff and atmosphere were amazing and we honestly couldn't find fault with anything at all. We live 45 minutes away but think it is well worth the drive so we went again this evening with our children . Once again the food and service were outstanding and really can't recommend it highly enough. We look forward to many more visits in the future.

Came here for dinner and had the poppadoms with dips, the special fried rice, the lamb korma, the lamb rogan josh and the pashwari nann. The service was wonderful, the food fantastic and the bill with drinks (a bottle of mineral water and two bottles of lager) came to £52.20. Would definitely visit again if I am in the area.

Best Currys in Kent and brilliant staff. Great value for money. Staff check that all is well and food is ok , different staff from before when closed for a few months. But would recommend to anyone for a night out. Hope this restaurant gets plenty of customers and has a regular amount of people visit.

Stopped into this restaurant on our way home from a good day out. This meal topped off a fantastic day out for us. We’ve often seen this restaurant but never been in before. The welcome was lovely and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food, well what can I say, I always have a signature dish I like if it’s on the menu to set the standard and they delivered a very tasty and highly flavoured dish. My husband enjoyed his chicken tikka jalfrezi also. The naan bread was gorgeous, we had a peshwari naan and it was the right amount of coconut which was scrummy.

We hadn’t been to the Prince of Kent for a long time, as it appeared to have closed down. Now reopened again so we gave it another try on a Saturday evening and were very impressed. Friendly welcome and good table in a cosy alcove. The décor was always good, particularly with the bubbling water wall. Good Cobra beer and poppadoms first with a nice selection of pickles. Garlic prawns and chicken chat for starters both good and tasty. For mains we had chicken tikka madras and chicken tikka main course, accompanied by mushroom rice, tarka dall, sag aloo and onion bhajis – all of which were absolutely excellent. We shall be returning.

This was a last-minute choice, as we'd been unable to get a taxi to the restaurant we had planned to visit, and we were delighted. Nice decor and table settings, good service (OK it was really quiet) and super food.

My friends and I had dinner here last weekend. We had heard of its excellent reputation and it is well deserved. It is just as well we booked, as the place was rammed when we arrived at 7.30pm. Like many, I have had many Indian meals in my time and consider myself well placed to compare and comment. My food was delicious. I had butterfly prawn to start followed by chicken jalfrezi, rice, tarka dall, spinach, plain nan bread. The jalfrezi was perfectly balanced - good spice / heat, the sauce was tasty and obviously freshly cooked. So often, you get a reheated quagmire with a few whole chillies lobbed in. The dall was perfect - roasted garlic flavour with perfect consistency. Too often it is really greasy, stodgy and overpowered with garlic. Breach was freshly cooked and the spinach perfect. After a few beers we had the rose wine. Often wine in Indian restaurants leaves a lot to be desired by I really enjoyed this. The staff were really busy but their service was always with a smile. I couldn't fault our evening, except that my taxi never showed up. True to the level of service, the manager of the restaurant arranged for a member of his staff to drop me home. I doubt it is something that he offers habitually but he could see I was stuck and went the extra mile. I will definitely be returning, probably this weekend. However, I will use a different taxi company!

We are visiting and for perspective I am from Bradford, we eat alot of curry. We ordered a chicken tikka masala and a monkfish special also calimari starter.

Went on a Tuesday evening. The food was absolutely brilliant, with the menu differing quite a bit from the usual curry house menu. I had an amazing monkfish dish and they made a great Irish coffee. Very highly recommendex

Firstly I’m a bit of an awkward customer I will admit! I can be very quick to judge, tried this restaurant with my wife and can’t fault it!! I was all ready to find fault if possible as was having a very stressful day! Started off thinking I need a drink.... thinking the drinks menu would be limited I was happy to find a very good selection and a wine I’m very fond of!

Had a fantastic meal here last night with 3 friends. The restaurant was buzzing but the service was excellent and the food, just how I remembered - divine. I had Gosht Kara Masala and the lamb was tender and delicious flavours. Their Bhindi Bhaji is the best I’ve ever had. We all really enjoyed our meal. Waiters were attentive and friendly and all our food came out promptly. All in all a really great evening with delicious food. Can’t wait to go back!

This was the re-opening night buffet. We had not dined there when it was previously open so thought that this would be a chance to see a variety of their dishes with a view to going back.

I have been driving past here on weekdays, all year, at around 8pm, and I have noticed that for several weeks now (possibly longer - the lights are sometimes on green, in my favour!) that it is in darkness, and has notices on the main door, so it is definitely not trading at the moment.

Be aware that this restaurant is currently closed and no longer providing any services. Shame as the food was good but the notice outside says about unpaid rent.

This is a great restaurant of which I visit twice a month the food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly. I have had great food on every occassion. A big thumbs up for Adrian a great waiter who is always happy and friendly. Look forward to my next visit. Paul and Liz

We had another wonderful meal , tasty food , professional , attentative staff, clean , smart surroundings , low lighting , white tablecloths , cosy decor . The food is freshly cooked and served promptly. We visit this establishment at least twice a month. We wouldn’t go anywhere else for our Indian food. Would thoroughly recommend over any other restaurant .

Local to Hawkhurst we booked a table for 7.30pm. Food did not arrive until after 9. Takeaway service seemed to take priority and service became far too slow. Food is good, waiters are friendly, chef is good. Management is poor and need to decide what it is. Won't last otherwise.

Pity about this review -visited mid week and i guess the kitchen was understaffed.waited nearly 45 minutes for the starter ,which considering the place was half full is pretty bad. food was good,as was the general service ,but they need to sort the kitchen out.

Visited here with family a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t fault the food at all. The meal was simply beautiful, tasty and most of all delicious. A different variety on the menu compared to your usual Indian restaurant which was nice. I had the handi chicken which was out of this world. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area to visit this place. A truly fantastic meal.

Went here with the family and in-laws. There was a huge selection to choose from. The waiters were attentive and friendly. The food was tasty with good portion sizes. Would like to visit again when next visiting in-laws.

Really good menu to choose from. Very friendly staff very clean and food tasted excellent. They have a great takeaway service as well.

As always the food here is of a very good standard but unfortunately the service is not that great. They often book more tables than they can cope with and even if people have been waiting for an hour or more for their food, they continue to take take away orders. The last time we went there we had to ask 4 times for our order to be taken and they avoided making eye contact with us. It is a great shame as people will only put up with so much and they will lose their customer loyalty if they don't improve on the eating experience.

Me and my partner ordered a takeaway this evening from this restaurant. We’ve previously had a bad experience eating in (service was poor and wrong food being received) but have always had a good takeaway.

We’ve just moved to the area and need to find a new curry house! This place was great. The food was tasty and service was good. The food was presented beautifully. They had some interesting items on the menu - which will be fun to try over time. The decor is also nice and toilets were very clean!

We came here on a Tuesday evening for a birthday meal. It was not busy and we had one of the side booths to just the two of us. The food was delicious and the portions very generous. The menu offers some variety from standard Indian restaurant dishes, and our meals were tasty with spices rather than just the heat of them - depending on the dish. Service was attentive and courteous. We will certainly return.

Looked online and fancied it. Didn't disappoint. Food in huge portions. Absolutely delicious and excellent value for money. Did their best to get us a taxi after but we ended up walking to our Hotel which was only 10 minutes away. Lovely evening out.

popped in early last Friday, didn't have a booking but was accommodated without a problem. modern decor i had Kingfisher, she had wine service was good, food was fresh, tasty and as described. bill reasonable will return soon

Great meal again !!!!, lamb was perfect, excellent service prompt and polite, no issues at all , it can get busy but why wouldn't it, toilets clean, all in all an excellent meal , interesting decor, our favourite Indian and we have had a few, highly recommend

First time dining here, and we've sampled lots of Indian Restaurants around Kent. My Son and I had a Starters, Mains & Deserts, no alcohol, and the bill came to over £80 for the two of us - and we're not massive eaters! Food was mostly nice - service was ok, price though was way to much. Parking isn't great - would help if they had something clear on their website indicating to park in Waitress and walk - take a brolly if you suspect rain though! We had originally parked in the pub\hotel car park next door - as it does actually look like they are part of the same outfit. We moved the car when we realised! Nice food, Service OK, Parking not great and bit too expensive - probably won't go back in a hurry - only because of the cost though.

We arrived to be greeted by the staff and introduced to them, the decor has been thought out and expensively carried out to a high standard. The service and the food were also to a high standard. Definitely one to return to as very enjoyable. Loved my tikka dish. One downside is parking, but worth the short walk

The kitchen couldn't cope with being half full. Party of 2 arrived at 7pm, we had to ask to get drinks and then give a food order, no communication and still no food by 8.20pm. The waiters took table orders out of sync with arrivals and take-aways seemed to get priority. We needed to leave by 8.30pm for the cinema. After much prompting, we got rushed, over-heated (microwaved?), incorrect (wrong vegetables) and poor quality (veg madras, cauli bhaji) food plus and small portions. They were understaffed on the floor. We asked for the bill early but it didn't come. On leaving I said I wasn't happy to the 'manager' and that our experience was unacceptable. I had to ask for a discount and was offered £10 which didn't cover the mistakes never mind the experience - try eating a curry in less than 10mins. Whoever I spoke to at the front genuinely didn't care, was intimidating and said he was glad I wouldn't be coming back and kept repeating it! We got out quickly. Appalling front of house....! So many better alternatives around - and a real shame as, given the setting/location, they need to be better than the competition. Never again.

Love this place ! Food is amazing and the boys look after us well. Weekends are always really busy, so don’t go if your in a rush If you want a lively evening with proper tasty Indian food, this will be right up your street! Well done Jay and the boys.

Turned up on Saturday evening at 7.20, ordered 7.30, started chasing the starters at 8.00 and was told they would be coming soon with main course being prepared. Starter turned up 8.10, food was OK. Carried on chasing main course, arrived 8.33, not great since we had cinema tickets for 8.40. Also waiter, whose English was terrible, messed up the order so we sent my wife's incorrect food back and shared mine. During this whole experience around 20 take-aways were taken past our table for people crowded into the entrance area. Insult to injury added by the guy at the desk when we were trying to sort out the bill, he was pretty rude to my wife and no deductions made for all of their mistakes. Won't be going back.

This was a good find, décor and ambiance was well above your typical Indian restaurant. A good choice of creative dishes with friendly and helpful service. Very tasty too. A return visit to be planned!

Most disappointing evening on Saturday night. Food was average and drinks more than overpriced: two lemonades, one diet coke and a small glass of white wine came to £21!!! On top of that you can't even park there but must walk down to the Waitrose car park...

Having lived in Hawkhurst many years ago but always been back to some of the pubs etc., this site has been an Indian Restaurant as long as I can remember.
