The best restaurants serving Indian food in Westgate Newcastle upon Tyne North East

This was our third visit to the restaurant. We were really happy the first two times but this visit was even better than previous ones. We were celebrating our son‘s birthday with his partner and all four of us ordered different things and tried each other’s dishes. We loved the sev puri chat pre-starters and then shared 4 starters. All were great but the paneer garlic chilli pepper and gunpowder prawns were particularly good. For mains we had grilled Marsala fish (sea bass), chingri malai prawn curry, Malabar coastal chicken curry and the chef made a chicken tikka pathia for us despite it not being on the menu. The chef varied the degree of spicing on a couple of the dishes as requested. We also had rice, bread and mixed tarka dal. We enjoyed everything. The dal was particularly good. We had a really lovely evening and would 100% recommend, just wish we didn’t live over 300 miles away but we’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Newcastle.

BEST TAKEAWAY IN NEWCASTLE!! Have ordered from here many times now and it's been great every time. I've also ordered with friends/family who have all loved it too, vegans and non-vegans alike. As a vegan, there is nothing quite like a fully plant based menu and the peace of mind that brings when ordering, and I'm not aware of anywhere else with so many options. I would highly recommend the onion bhajis, garlic or peshwari naan, and the spinach paratha. There are so many curries to choose from, but some of my favourites include the seitan madras, jalfrezi, chana masala and aloo gobi. They also sell vegan pizzas and chips etc, so there's little reason to order from anywhere else - always better to support an independent family-run business. Very good value for money also. The staff are lovely and easy to get in contact with (via text etc) when needed. I would say delivery takes an hour on average - a perfectly reasonable amount of time, especially considering I'm a bit further out (North Kenton), and I think the owner delivers herself. So as long as you order with 1-2h in mind, you can't be disappointed! 🙂 I would love to come in-person if they re-open the restaurant one day.

We visited this restaurant on Saturday night,it was a good choice we made as we had walked into the restaurant over the road and it was very cold, glad we came to rasika as it was lovely and warm. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter who showed us to our table, the food and the service was second to none and we will definitely be returning and will recommend it to all our friends

Mu husband and myself were up from Northampton visiting my daughter. We came to your restaurant to celebrate her birthday 26th Jan. The service was lovely. As for the food it was beautiful. Sin duda, este es sin duda el mejor restaurante indio en el noreste. Nos encanta la comida india y hemos probado tantos restaurantes indios en toda Inglaterra. ¡Yo digo que esto está en el top 3! La comida es increíblemente sabrosa y el personal es muy amable. El ambiente es muy bueno también.

Small interior but lovely food with the naan being my personal highlight

Visité esta tarde para comer. El restaurante estaba frío a la llegada, así que pedimos que nos movieran más cerca de un radiador, el personal era servicial y servicial, para ser justos era temprano y tranquilo. El propietario fue un poco camisero a petición mía y respondió “No pruebo el vino, solo lo compro”. ¡Le sugerí que no lo comprara de nuevo! Él se negó a ofrecer cualquier reducción en la cuenta, así que lo regalamos a otro comensal, ofreciéndole nuestros mejores deseos y disculpándose por el sabor de antemano! No volveré... tuve mejor comida y definitivamente mejor vino 😁

Terrible food i'm afraid, as well as not the cleanest of places, staff are a little rude at times and nearly always give you the wrong order, so frustrating, i've giving them many chances and this was my last ever visit to this place

Si te gusta un curry caliente echa un vistazo a este lugar. Tuve una madras y está allí con lo mejor hasta ahora. Servicio animado por el gerente que hizo todo lo posible por servirnos. Yo, Mam y yo volveríamos; el keema naan es para morirse.

I asked for them to make us the mildest curry possible because I’m not a fan of spicy food. The curry blew my head off and I was told ‘that’s just Indian food’. I paid £80 (including an £8 service charge that was just added to the bill when the service I received was terrible) just to leave the restaurant hungry with a blaze of fire in my mouth.

This is a difficult review. I've been to Dabbawal on several occasions and have lovely food. NYE four of us dined and it was disappointing. The starters were tasty but delivered whilst one of the party were at the toilet! The main courses were pretty bland (these included chicken madras and another dish that included green chilli) neither of which even had a hint of heat. The waiter then tried to take plates whilst one of the party were still eating. Disappointing.
