A top evening. A well established Putney restaurant that cooks brilliant Indian food. The food and wine menus are helpfully compact, making choices easier and I reckon heightens the results! Delicious all round… perfectly cooked rice, nans, samosas , baked prawns ….and the curries!!Easy to get to, clearly full of locals ( all ages) and family owned. The service was tops too. And they own the wine shop next door. Thank you again.

An interestingly sad experience to be sure. My friends and I had set on having a curry in clapham with one of our friends giving it a reference. We heard about the byob rule - fine to us - and wanted to get a beer before going in. When we went by the restaurant before and a worker really wanted us to come in and sit for a meal who right after we had bought our beers. After buying them and bringing them to the restaurant, we were met with quite hostile attitude. The new worker made a point of us having to order quickly and leave as they were closing. We were a bit shocked since the previous worker, who we did not see after, said we should come in and have a curry. At one point, one of the workers thought our friend had finished his beer, knocked over the bottle by mistake and then shook it afterwards to see if there was anymore which there was quite a bit of beer in it, very unprofessional. To top it all off, they started letting in more customers to sit and eat curry, so I guess the closing time was incorrect! Google had informed us the closing time was later than the workers had said to us, but they were adamant and walked away when we questioned it. Our food was unfortunately average, particularly our friend who had lamb as he said it was quite chewy. Overall, I hope the manner of the employees does more than the food could as it really was unprofessional.

We got a take away for the family and the food was just as delicious at home as it is in the restaurant. The amazing flavours never cease to please and the restaurant threw in a couple of extra samosas to try. A firm favourite is the mixed grill! The best grill I’ve had outside of Pakistan. I cannot recommend Khas enough!

The tables were dirty, the toilets were dirty and one was even broken down. The food was decent, they do birthday celebrations quite loud not good if you have anxiety or get shaken easily. Barely able to call waiters to the table, have to get up yourself and go to the counter for anything you need. The glasses to drink from, all fingerprints and smudged and dirty, the 'tap' water tasted like metal. Wouldn't recommend to be honest, but if you want to go somewhere for a quick bite and okay food I guess you could do worse.

I visited Spice Village Tooting today with my father and brother after a medical appointment in London Westminster. An hour long journey after the appointment we were expecting a pleasant dining experience, but what we encountered was total opposite. From the moment we arrived, the service was unprofessional. Front-of-house staff were seated casually at a table eating, while another staff member was engrossed in paperwork and working on a laptop. Neither bothered to greet us or make any effort to provide a welcoming atmosphere. Instead, we were bluntly told to “go in and find my staff, he somewhere there.” The state of the restaurant was even more shocking. Hygiene standards were non-existent. The tables were filthy, and the water feature on the wall was covered in mold and grime, with visibly dirty water inside. The entire place felt neglected and unclean, utterly unacceptable for a dining establishment. When I raised my concerns with a staff member and asked to speak to the manager, I was told he was at the bar. After locating him, I explained that the environment was making me feel physically sick. Instead of addressing the issues, he responded rudely, raising his voice and refusing to come with me to inspect the problems. Instead, he instructed me to take another staff member to show them. The lack of accountability, coupled with the appalling hygiene and unprofessionalism, left us no choice but to walk out. This was, without question, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I will never return to Spice Village Tooting and cannot, in good conscience, recommend it to anyone. Avoid at all costs. I am currently consulting with their local health and hygiene professionals to report my concerns and ensure appropriate action is taken.
