Great to be eating a good curry in Southfields again after over 25 years absence,lovely little place if you are a fan of Goan cooking (coconut,aromatic,tangy spices) the triphal in quaint old southfields doesn't disappoint we shall definitely be returning to explore some Goan fish dishes on Fridays !

Very disappointing curry. Ordered through Just Eat so can’t comment on service or atmosphere of the restaurant. We ordered a chicken rogan josh and a lamb curry and both were very disappointing. Tasted like chunks of meat cooked in passata with minimal flavour/spices. Would not recommend.

Had a booking this evening for 5:30pm for three people, but Triphal was not open! When I booked online, I received a confirmation that the booking is confirmed. However, when my wife and I, with another family member, arrived for our booked table, the restaurant had not opened. We waited twenty minutes, still the restaurant remained closed. There is no message on the door that the restaurant is closed for business, and nothing on their web page. An email received by me clearly states, “Your booking request has been confirmed. We look forward to seeing you". Why send an email stating that the booking was confirmed instead of emailing or phoning that the restaurant is closed, and no information on the website. A few times my wife and I have eaten here, and never had any issues. This evening has thrown different thoughts of this restaurant; clearly, the owner(s) have become unprofessional and arrogant in not putting up any ‘Closed for business’ information on the door, and their website. Won’t be wasting my time with them again. If we knew this was going to be a waste of time, I would have booked a table elsewhere. Extremely annoyed!

Beautiful fish curry, with complex flavour and freshness. Absolutely delicious

Very poor portion sizes and when asked for more the staff were rude and charged us double. Beer was warm and food tasted poor. Definitely one to avoid.

Great meal last week for 20 of us

We are regulars at Triphal for both eating in and take aways. My son’s favourite place to go, for the food as much as the staff. Not very busy in the actual restaurant but that suits us.

Please do not make the same mistake I did and order from here! It was possibly the worst take away food I have ever had in my life!!! My order arrived late and incorrect. I phoned to tell them I had received the wrong order and was informed that the chef had read the order wrong and to ‘just get a refund from Just Eat’. No understanding whatsoever of customer service. Everyone makes mistakes and they could have dealt with the mess up in a professional manner. I asked for the whole order to be made correctly and re sent and was told this as possible. After waiting another long while I received a second order of simply the tikka I had originally ordered and no fresh rice or naan. I meanly surely that’s just common courtesy to send a whole fresh order when you messed up in the first place. When I questioned the delivery driver about this he simply said ‘you already have rice’. Excited to finally sit down and eat my dinner I opened the the new tikka and started eating it along with my cold rice and it was awful. It consisted of large chunks of extremely chewy and tasteless chicken with cold rice. Worst £16 odd pounds I’ve ever spent, AVOID!!!

I had visited the restaurant after coming from a Wimbledon match, and ordered vegetable samosas, baingan patiala, bhindi, naan and rice. The food was delightful, complimented by a warm and cozy atmosphere.

Food is amazing specially Goan xacuti and pork vinadloo try It the best.

All usual Indian recipes with a better taste. Recommended.

This used to be so good, I recommended it to anyone who would listen. Sadly it’s gone downhill. There’s one girl working front of house as best she can, people were sending food back for being tasteless and bland. This could be a gem again but please get rid of the long plastic covered menu, shorten the menu but make it great! This area desperately needs a good Indian restaurant it this isn’t it anymore. 😞

The restaurant is small and the service personal and friendly. The food isn't what it used to be, but it is more than adequate for a local curry house and we have had many an enjoyable dinner there.

Food is one part of the experience. But the rest counts as well: The mood, the atmosphere, the music, the feeling, the design, the harmony between what you have on the plate and what surrounds the plate. Food was very tasty.

We are so lucky to call this gem our local. The service is exceptional and the food delicious. If you’re ever in the neighbourhood they are absolutely one to visit! And my kids adore it too. One of them is the pickiest eater in the world but I know he’ll always eat his chicken tikka starter and basmati rice :)

Great local Indian food at reasonable prices and very friendly service. We like the black lentil Dhal and some of the chicken dishes with super yummy Naan. We order here regularly :)

Possibly the worst Indian takeaway I’ve had in years! Remember when our family frequented this restaurant as it was the best! Potatoes were hard and we counted 9 cubes of lamb in the Bhuna. Almost a £ per cube 🤣! oh well now to find an Indian takeaway who deliver flavour and value for money. 👎🏼

Nothing fancy but the food is excellent. Both rice and naan are cooked to perfection. All the dishes are fresh and very authentic. Incredibly generously priced. Triphal has become our number one local eatery. Highly recommend!

Extremely hot inside, aircon broken and made the whole experience unpleasant. The curry was runny and was like a soup, but did have good taste. The naan was excellent, when asked about the rice portion, the waiter indicated it was a one person portion, but it was more two. So, save some money and share. Limited choices and selections!

Triphal is a gem. There is a wide range of food and when consumed is of the highest quality. My partner and friends we have invited enjoy the high quality cuisine. The service is very friendly and you are always treated well.

Very small local curry restaurant run by a father and daughter. Dad doing the cooking. Small menu but felt it was freshly cooked and a bit different. I've found my new curry house. Nan bread excellent,my prawn cocunut dish was great...

A lovely local restaurant. We hadn't been for a while but went recently and it's still as enjoyable as always. The waiter was a really decent guy, attentive, helpful but not pushy. The dishes are tasty and good value. It is open on Monday evenings, which is great as a few other local restaurants are closed on both Mondays and Tuesdays. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area and like good Indian food.

First time visiting, a very lovely local place. Good, friendly service, reasonable prices. We will be visiting again! Some interesting and different things like the Poori (which were excellent) on the menu that you dont always see at Indian restaurants. We tried some of the south indian curries (chettinard and xacuti) which were very tasty, great spicing with a nice chilli heat that built with every mouthful.

Probably my favourite Indian restaurant - when it comes to the food - in London. Generally South Indian cuisine with exceptional and subtle flavours. It's a small family run restaurant which has suffered from the pandemic and the ambiance would benefit from more customers... It feels quite sad if you're the only table ... but the food never fails to delight... so it's defiantly worth it every time. Great value too.

Been here 3 times and it has got better each time. Starters all cooked freshly and not been sitting around for days on end as on most restaurants, main courses are generous portions and so tasty and different options. Totally recommend a visit

Although we have been collecting takeaways every week, we had a family meal there last night (4 August). The quality of food was exceptional as ever, and also Paul was brilliant at looking after us. The overall meal was excellent value for money and I can highly recommend a meal here.

Try butter chicken curry and chicken tandoori eat it after 1 hour still fresh. Highly recommend

I tried to order a takeaway on justeat and my order was pending for ages. When I tried to call the restaurant they didn't answer. I then had to enter a lengthy process with Just eat to get a refund. Very shabby

Gajar Halwa was a SCAM. Arrived cold and literally only 3 teaspoons worth containing broken glass. This place should be shut down!

Excellent food. Tastes very very authentic and not at all like the usual ‘anglicised curries’ - we got takeaways multiple times during the lockdown. The portions are simply huge. The chaats are excellent, so are the other vegetarian mains such as the chickpea curry and lentil dishes. Five stars!

Got takeaways from Triphal for years and they have always been great but just dined in the restaurant and it was unbelievable. Best Indian I have had in many years. Looking forward to going back

Portions not worth the money...£17.50 for X1 portion of samosa (2small ones) x1 portion of barji (4 tiny ones) 4 popaddoms and x2 garlic nan. Not even order mains!

Underwhelming dish. I’ve been wanting to give this place a try for a while but it was a disappointment. The ‘curry’ was pretty tasteless: texture is a mixture between a soup and a stew. Watery looking and tasting food. Meat was soft and tender and decent chunks. But as soon as I opened the bag I was disappointed at the look. The little takeaway container was only halfway. Nice friendly guy. Easy simple menu which is great. Gave stars for the positives. But the food flavour? Nope.

A small restaurant with a shorter menu than usually encountered, but every dish we tried was beautifully cooked.

It is worth making an effort travelling to this sleepy part of town to sample the culinary delights on offer. Yes the ambience is relatively quiet and it is a plainly furnished and smallish restaurant so if you are looking for 5 star fancy or raucous environment then this is not for you. If you are after the finest lamb chops known to mankind, then try these out. Furthermore the chops are backed up by curries of the highest order! And good value too!

Worst curry I've had...Watery, bland...stay well clear.

I went here based on TA reviews but experience below par. Small restaurant was unremarkably furnished and decorated but clean and bright. Only or server and as the restaurant was virtually full, service was very slow - it took an age to take the order and longer for the food to come (finished my large Cobra before the starter so had to order another). Very commendable Malvani Lamb Curry - large chunks of fresh lamb in a rich, creamy curry sauce. Starter was crispy squids - tiny pieces of what was essentially crispy fried batter without any discernible taste of squid - very poor (possibly worst crispy fried squid ever?). Overall this is not a place I can confidently recommend.

Just outstanding food. Freshly made Startes, then shared platters of curries, daal, rice, naans. Not sure I could even single out a favourite, I enjoyed them all. I really enjoyed the Everything. Unparalleled attentive service, they really nailed it.

Used to be a very nice local Indian restaurant. Has become recently extremely bad, I live nearby and used to be my weekly takeaway. I have tried 3 times since April 2019 and it is officially a disaster. I guess the cook has changed but also they must use different ingredients but there is definitively something VERY wrong. Please bring back ASAP the good-old Triphal

It's 10pm. We ordered an 1:45 ago. Supposedly it should have been delivered an hour ago. The driver is on his way. Great. I'm on my way to bed. Worst service ever. Cannot comment about the food as you can imagine. Just called and the guy told me sorry I can't contact the driver as he is driving right now. Then he hung up on me. I m loving them more by every minute

Relaxed and friendly atmosphere with excellent customer service. Good selection of food and drinks and everything arrived on time. The staff makes you feel welcomed with a smile at all times. The food was authentic and one of the best in London. We will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

Por lo general, compro en la misma comida india para llevar, pero quería probar un lugar diferente, así que elegí Triphal en Southfields. Visité Triphal para cenar con algunos amigos. La comida estaba bien, lo suficientemente agradable, pero nada especial. Habíamos elegido el restaurante porque sabemos que suele ser bastante relajado y queríamos pasar una tarde poniéndonos al día. Vine aquí porque estaba en el área para trabajar y realmente me apetecía un curry después de estar en una conferencia todo el día. Entré en un restaurante que acababa de abrir, así que fue la primera persona en entrar. ¡Pude sentarse a la mesa en la ventana y ver pasar el mundo! ! El menú parecía bastante limitado, lo cual fue un poco confuso, ya que el menú para llevar en la ventana frente a donde estaba sentado era mucho más detallado y ¿más para elegir? ? Me pregunté si podría tener la verdura como un plato de acompañamiento en lugar de un plato principal (love bhindi bhaji (okra), ya que podría verse disponible así en el menú para llevar, pero me dijeron que no podía tener lados de vegetales, extraño y un poco decepcionante. el final tenía Chicken Chettinad como algo que no había visto en un menú en el noroeste de Engand donde vivo. No hay arroz con champiñones: (los chutneys de pappodom eran muy sabrosos, creo que uno era un pepinillo de mango verde. Mi esposo y yo disfrutamos de una excelente comida en Triphal esta noche. Sólo vivimos a 5 minutos, pero esta fue nuestra primera visita. El restaurante es pequeño pero acogedor y está hermosamente decorado con bonitos cuadros y murales. Un montón de aparcamiento en Replingham Road (gratis después de las 4. 30 pm). Las mesas están colocadas simplemente con ropa blanca y manteles de color rosa, y los vasos y la vajilla blanca son simples pero atractivos. Nuestro camarero era muy amable y no nos apuró en absoluto. Pedimos una botella de chenin blanc que era muy buena ya un precio razonable. Disfrutamos de poppadums con buenos salsas para comenzar y mi esposo tenía el biryani de cordero y yo tenía a rogan josh para seguir. El cordero era delicioso en ambos platos, no duro y seco como a veces es el caso. Disfrutamos de un plato de berenjena y anacardos (realmente encantador y no graso) y aloo gobi, el mejor que he probado en mi vida. Nuestro camarero era amable y atento y muy bien informado. Fue una comida realmente relajada y divertida y con una excelente relación calidad-precio. Volveremos con amigos pronto!

This is the third time I have called to chase my delivery when it hasn't turned up and have been told my order never came through to the restaurant. Its a shame as I was always happy with the resturant and it's my local. However when I expressed my frustration and said I wouldn't be using them anymore the response was basically "ok thanks bye" which is even more disappointing.

such lovely staff with the most amazing and efficient service. the menu had a lot of variety however my only wish is that for the vegetarian menu they included some ‘chicken’ korma(that is suitable for vegetarians. This is 100% the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been too(I have been to many). Absolutely superb!

Had great expectation because at one point this restaurant is a bib gourmand in the Michelin guide so I thought food had to be good. Unfortunately it is very oily and very heavy. There was no atmosphere at the restaurant. We have tried takeaway as well but on both occasions we found the food to be too rich and oily.

the restaurant is nice, the delivery service is not good. 1hour 40mins late until we gave up... When I called them, they rushed me off the phone and hung up on me. Go in and visit the restaurant but never, ever deliver.

Pedí un llevar de aquí para dos. El pollo era sosa y sin sabor, y aunque la descripción mencionó que era medio picante, no había absolutamente ningún indicio de ningún tipo de calor. No había ninguna señal de verduras, pimientos o cebollas en nuestros platos, así que solo carne y arroz que hicieron que nuestras placas parezcan razonablemente desnudas, beige y apetecible. El biryani estaba lleno de lo que parecía corteza de canela y trozos de cardomen pods así que con mis maridos cada bocado estaba sacando algo de su boca, lo que siempre es una experiencia horrible.

Lucky to live close by so have visited Triphal on many, many occasions (both to eat in and take out). Delicious food and pleasant service every time, particularly good vegetarian options too. Never change.

This is a small Indian restaurant which I have visited several times whilst visiting friends in the area. I always love to go here as the food is not the normal Indian restaurant. It is all extremely tasty and the staff are always really pleasant

Use this place regularly for eating in and take away. Friendly staff and really yummy food. Some interesting less usual dishes too.

Thought we'd give it another try since friends were raving about the food and been a couple of times before. It didn't start well ..... It took 70 minutes from when we walked in until the food arrived..... Then served on cold plates (after the first lot of cold plates were sent back once!). The food was basically fairly tasteless and the three of us didn't finish our main courses. The poppadams were stale too. Shame cos it has good potential and tries to serve some slightly different style of dishes.

I've never been more disappointed in an Indian takeaway before. I ordered the Chingri Malay Curry and it was just some prawns floating around in what I suspect was just a can of coconut milk, that had been dyed yellow with turmeric. It was tasteless.

Diminutive restaurant serving bold and skillfully spiced and original Indian dishes. I have eaten at Triphal at least half a dozen times, having tried vegetarian, fish, lamb and chicken dishes. Each time they were excellent. There is a sense of style around the interior with starched tableclothes, gentle lighting and charming staff. With only about 20 covers it is a small, private space and the food is great. I guarantee you will find a refreshing take on British-Indian food, very tasty & well presented.
