Royal Mahal in Wandsworth

We visit Royal Mahal tooting brach at least once a month for either lunch or dinner. The foods are always tasty and the service is always excellent . We never have an issue at all.

Mums 90th Birthday wonderfully celebrated at this beautiful venue. Amazing service, wonderful staff , great food . Thank you All for making this a memorable event and experience. Special thanks to Arfaan and Muqarba.

Took forever to serve us, looking at us weirdly and making us pack our own takeaway while serving others their food already packed in a bag to take home.

We regularly order from Royal Mahal, their food is authentic, fresh and absolutely delicious. One of the best. They care very much for their customers, evidenced when Ubereats refused to reimburse us for food not delivered. We visited Royal Mahal to explain the situation. They contacted Uber on our behalf and it was sorted swiftly. They went above and beyond to help us. Thank you Royal Mahal.

Kurz zusammengefasst: Uunchi dukaan, pheeka pakwaan. Es heisst, der Laden ist gut situiert aber das Essen ist fade. Im Einzelnen möchte ich mich als Kenner der pakistanisch-indischen Küche davon distanzieren, dass die Grillspezialitäten einen Hauch von dem dem darsellen, was die Pakistaner und Inder essen würden. NEIN. Grillspezialitäten in Royal Mahal sind verkohlt und haben, mir nicht klar, welchen ethnischen Ursprung, ist aber nicht pakistanisch oder indisch. Die Grillplatte wurde für bis zu 5 Personen angegeben. Ich wüsste gerne, wie hier diese Zählweise zusatande kommt. Welche 5 Personen essen so wenig? Ehrlich gesagt, hätte ich, als absolutes Mittelmaß, etwas stärkeren Hunger, dann wäre die Grillplatte keine Herausforderung für mich als Einzelperson, vorausgesetzt, sie wäre nicht verkohlt. Die Naans waren lecker, ebenso Rotis. Lamb Nihaari konnte zum Teil überzeugen, wenn auch das Fleisch zwar gar aber nicht Nihaari-typisch komplett soft wurde. Geschmacklich aber gut. Lamb Handi war wiederum für den Preis zu klein und wenig geraten. Nun gut. Das ist in letzter Zeit einfach mode, viel Geld zu verlangen und den Gast dennoch hungrig nach Hause zu lassen. Darüber lässt es sich streiten. Insgesamt kann ich beim besten Willen nur die 3 Sterne geben. Ambiente, und die gängigen Gerichte haben diesen Durchschnitt angehoben. Service ist so eine Sache. Könnte eine Momentaufnahme sein. Aber von Serviceerfahrung bin ich nicht überzeugt. Im Gegenteil. Aber das sei verziehen. Philosophischer Nachtrag: Manche leben, um zu essen. Manche essen, um zu leben. Und genaus sind manche Restaurantbetreiber, die kochen, um den Gästen eine kulinarische Erfahrung zu gönnen. Und manche kochen, um Geld zu verdienen. Besser wäre es, wenn Royal Mahal zu den ersteren zählen würde.

Very good food at a reasonable price. Quick service, very kind staff and also a nice traditional vibe to the place. Portions are great and so are the mocktails. Only thing I would improve are the toilets which need some TLC. A little bit of maintenance is needed there otherwise great place!

Great service, delicious food, grill not too oily. Defo recommend and reserve a table before you go.

Food was on point , tasty , full of flavour and decent portions , However the service needs improving , the waiters had zero level of engagement , looked liked they didn’t want to be there and it’s not as if they were rushed off their feet as it was a Monday night . Seems to be a challenge for a lot of desi restaurants unfortunately where they think it’s all about the food not the overall experience of being looked after and attended to during the meal .

Best curry house in tooting imo - I lived here for a year and sampled many of the curry houses but this one came out on top for their amazing dahl, chicken chana and chicken dansak. The breads are also delicious. The staff are lovely and food always comes quickly - food heaven!

We tried Royal Mahal for dinner yesterday,it was my daughter's birthday, I was served by one of staff says to be Muqarba. What a wonderful pretty girl, Service was excellent, the food was delicious, and I want to thank chief and all staff.

The waiters were very friendly, we went with a group of 40+ people. Abdulbasith and Hamzah were especially helpful. Thank you for a lovely experience. Will definitely come again.

Royal Mahal Norbury This is with the same owner as the one in Tooting. I prefer the Norbury location as it’s within walking distance to home. The restaurant is fresh, clean, vibrant and very comfortable. The staff are polite and courteous and the food quality is just as good if not better than Tooting. I have been many times and recommended to friends who also enjoy their dining experience there! So lucky it’s on my doorstep. My dad recently celebrated his 82nd birthday there and the family has already asked me to take them back!

We tried Royal Mahal for lunch today and tried their new special platter. A decent size for 2 people and good taste. Service was excellent, thanks to Muqarba for recommending and being so attentive.

first time coming here and was really good food, Muqarba gave really good service and made our experience here more enjoyable

I booked this hall for a walima party of my son. But not very impressed. Food is not so good. Portion of food very small. One should carefully deals with them. They provide low quality drinks which was not agreed. The sweet they gave has so small portion like it was given to a child of 3-4 years. They took the whole amount before the event which is not good and this showed they knew about their poor service and quality that why they took the whole amount in advance.

Lamb chops were tasty. Lamb biryani had a good smell but had too much of a tamarind taste and the lamb pieces were extremely dry

This restaurant is our all time favourite. We give 5star 2 years ago and today I will give again 5 star. Honestly customer service amazing… the Uber driver mixed up my food with someone else, I called to inform the restaurant manager as my daughter not eating spicy foods but like the rice and they just resend my order . Our server Abdul Basit was an absolute fast, humble and super attentive waiter. We came here to celebrate my son’s 12th Birthday. He was extremely polite and very professional but kind and friendly towards my children too which gave us a good family vibe. He also ensured the birthday song was played whilst the cake was served. I would definitely come back again as we experienced a wonderful family experience. People like Abdul Basit make customers want to return due to their humble, professional approach!!

Went to dine in at Royal Mahal in Tooting and it was amazing. Our server was Muqarba and she took very good care of us. We will definitely be sharing our experience here with friends and family :) 10/10

Lovely decor and good service but the food was below average. We ordered a few different dishes but none were stand out or had much flavour. Nor did they taste very fresh. Disappointing as it always looks busy and it’s a lovely restaurant. Definitely better restaurants for curries in Tooting

Royal Mahal is a gem located in Tooting Bec. I have visited many times having tried dishes such as their chicken biriyani, masala chips and dynamite prawns. The Royal platter is amazing if you want a bit of everything, very yummy! They also serve a range of mocktails, the mojito being my favourite! A wonderful atmosphere with beautiful decor, clean dining and welcoming staff, it is the best place to eat if you are ever in South West London!

Their starters were good , Muqarba was helpful. But not all the workers were helpful, if you say I haven’t asked for this dish ,they said it comes like this , instead of helping.

Decent food, good starters, decent mains, overall a nice experience but not necessarily the best Pakistani food in tooting. They do a lot of qawali nights though so that's a big draw.

So satisfied with their service and food . We asked for masala chips in a specific cup instead of in a plate and they were really nice about it . And the staff call MUQARBA was really nice

This is now my favourite spot for Pakistani & Indian food in South London. The food is top quality and the service is speedy and attentive. The portions are quite a bit more generous than most places though so plan accordingly!

The food here is ok. The service is good and the food arrived really quickly. We ordered the butter chicken (which was quite lacklustre) and the chicken tikka masala which was slightly better, but by no means tasty. We also got the peshwaari naan which was quite nice. The nicest thing we had were the dynamite prawns but at £12 I expected more prawns than just 4! The rest of the cup was full of salad which I thought was pretty misleading… .

Started off really nice with beautiful curry's then went downhill, serving up less quality. Not nice anymore which is a shame because it has lost completely its reputation . Another one bites the dust.

Nice Music 🎵🎶. Nice food and good service. Dynamo chicken was different and nice. Naan and Garlic naan were really good. Lamb kadai was great but butter chicken was disappointing.

Incredible experience experience at Royal Mahal. We went last Wednesday with my wife. The decor was sumptuous. The food was amazing, fresh and tasty but beware of the spice though. It worth asking about the spiciness of some meal prior ordering as the heat can get pretty harsh, but only if you don't like spicy food 😉 Muqarba was quick and very professional. We really enjoyed her service. 100% recommend 👌🏻

First of all I would like to let you all know this restaurant has the amazing taste and textures Of food for every dish. One of my favourites are the Mix Grills with a Garlic Nan, the other is a Biryani 😋😋😋 not too spicey and on request you can have it mild and to finish off with a Mango Lassi. The service from the waitress named Muqarba was absolutely amazing. The Manager Islam was very helpful and gave great customer service. Out of all the restaurants in tooting I have tried so far this is number 1. I found they have the perfect balance of flavour with a little bit of heat. Just the way I like it. Beautifully furnished restaurant with comfy seats and very relaxing. Having tried similar resturants near by I was disappointed to find most of there dishes were over loaded with chillies, even when you request for the dish to be mild, it was still far too spicey. I will always recommend Royal Mahal to anyone I know. Thank you for your lovely service and see you soon again. Best wishes.

Great atmosphere, quick service. Food was good, kinda disappointed with the butter chicken, the chicken pieces were not charred, just felt like mushy boiled chicken chucked into a butter chicken sauce, felt like a microwave meal. The platter was really good.

Went there on friday 8/12/23 around 5 pm there was only 2 waiters at that time a lady and grumpy looking old man Great resturant, food was excellent 8/10 but the only thing was the waiter who greeted us when entered the resturant to serving the food his attitude and behaviour was disgusting my wife and kid was with me otherwise I would have definitely taught him how to behave I asked him can we have quiet corner somewhere to sit down for my wife this guy can't even speak English properly says to me this a resturant nothing is private here everything is public I wanted to give him a slap across his face but he's old man out of respect and me restraining my self I held back then his services was just rubbish the way he served like someone is forcing him to work here as a slave no friendliness,no smile,no enthusiasm with waiters like that businesses loose good customer it was a clean shaven old man I think he was bangali hence he was the only issue why I didn't give 5* other than him everything else was good.hope the management retrain this grumpy old grandad how to be a waiter
