Ma Goa in Wandsworth

A top evening. A well established Putney restaurant that cooks brilliant Indian food. The food and wine menus are helpfully compact, making choices easier and I reckon heightens the results! Delicious all round… perfectly cooked rice, nans, samosas , baked prawns ….and the curries!!Easy to get to, clearly full of locals ( all ages) and family owned. The service was tops too. And they own the wine shop next door. Thank you again.

Food was average, small portions and overpriced, I wouldn’t go back.

We’ve eaten at Ma Goa many times over the years. Food and service always great. This time we had the Ragra Samosas, lamb shank special, Ma’s Baigan (the aubergine dish which we always go for), a chicken jalfriezi type dish and a chicken biryani. They were all delicious. Thoroughly recommend.

The food and service was great. We were a group of 9 and were beside a group of about 10-12 who were the noisiest people in the world, so it was very difficult to hear anyone else at our table. No fault of the restaurant of course.

Yes enjoyed my last trip in for a meal. The restaurant was busy, so a few times it took a tad longer than normal to get served but other than that lovely to be back in. 😁👍

As ever, fabulous food. I like much of the recent 'street' changes but the restaurant has become so noisy now.

We absolutely love Ma Goa & have brought friends there quite a few times now. Lovely food, great setting, helpful staff... BUT one recent change I'd honestly request you reverse asap: the phone based ordering - we found it unnecessarily complicated and took the joy out of surveying a menu. Please get rid before we come back next time!

This is Indian food as it should be. Clearly cooked from scratch with fresh authentic ingredients. Each dish distinctive and a pleasant change from the usual standard fare. We ordered two of the specials, chicken on the bone and okra with coconut among other delicious dishes. Also they were happy to change the time of our booking at short notice. Excellent value and service, a shame we don’t live in London to visit more often

Was very disappointed to be told I had to leave by 8pm. Which only allowed 1.30hrs rather than 1.45hours indicated and it was my birthday. If I had of realised beforehand I would have gone elsewhere. Waitresses lacked a spark/friendliness. Shame they don't offer full pints rather than 2 thirds.

The food is excellent and the menu interesting and innovative. It isn't cheap - and they do charge extra (for condiments like mango chutney!!) but it is well worth it, you'll want to try everything on the menu. The atmosphere is great too and they've been great at keeping doors open for fresh air and making everyone feel comfortable in the restaurant.

Great food and service but far too noisy to have a conversation with my friend. We mentioned the noise to the manager but his reply was “it’s our style” so we won’t be returning!

Wonderful atmosphere, great decor. The fold was good value for money and delicious. I got the lemonade. It was unique and incredible. The prawn starter, lamb biryani and paratha were all perfectly cooked. I even got some complimentary sorbet for my birthday.

What a great meal! From start to finish the food was fantastic. Can highly recommend the poppadoms as a nibble while you choose. Make sure you order the ragra samosa, pakoras and lamb chops!

The food is outstanding! we had three dishes and some flatbread and it was all delicious and great size of dishes. The bill so so reasonable and they have amazing desserts so make sure to leave room for them too. 100% will be back. Servers were so friendly and helpful too

Our first meal indoors for a long time and Ma Goa did not disappoint. The food was excellent and we especially enjoyed the small plates/starters. All the food was fresh and very tasty and the service was good too... If you want to be indulgent at the end of the meal, their ice-creams are great!

The heaters on the terrace were so good and kept us warm despite it being a bit chilly last night. Our favourite restaurant, the food is top quality and the staff are always so lovely.

A word of explanation about the downvoted questions - the food was delicious as always and the service charming. Because we had to be seated outside, and because the main railway line runs at the end of the property, the ambience was very noisy and the temperature freezing - neither of which were the fault of Ma Goa. We are regulars there, and we&#039;ll come back, but not until the weather gets a little warmer!

Whilst I am always disappointed by the food in most local Indian restaurants Ma Goa is outstanding. As an Indian with a discerning palate even though I say so myself, the food here is certainly up there with the best.

Each time this restaurant gets better. Super helpful and friendly staff and we had a fabulous evening. Enjoyed choosing the wine from their extensive and well chosen wine boutique.<br /><br />Looking forward to returning.

We frequently visit Ma Goa as it&#039;s one of our favourite restaurants and delivers every single time. This time we sat on the balcony because there weren&#039;t any tables inside - absolutely perfect, nicely heated and we were alone out there so extra romantic. Food was exceptional as always, service friendly, quick and helpful, and value excellent for the amount of food and drink. Cannot wait to be back.

Deserves the amazing reviews, have already recommended to friends

As luck would have it had booked for an early dinner on the last day before lockdown. Food and service as always were excellent, as was the cost after the early booking discount. I shall continue to use for takeaways during the lockdown.

In general, I have had better experience at this place. So this might be down to Vivid that the restaurant failed me know his time. But Vivid or not, if you are serving customers then you don&#039;t make them wait 15 minutes to place their order, you don&#039;t make them remind you three times to get their drinks, you don&#039;t serve them cold lamb chops starters. Food was okay, but Open table menu was different from what we were given... almost 75% of menu items weren&#039;t available... utterly disappointing. Final straw was when we asked to look at the dessert menu, we were told we can&#039;t get dessert because it was 10 minutes to 10 pm and they had to close by 10 pm sharp, else they would get fined. So why on earth did no one come to tell us sooner that if we wanted dessert, we should place the order soon? Absolutely shambolic wedding anniversary meal.

I love Ma Goa! It’s my neighbourhood favourite. Can’t come here and not have the paneer and broccoli and the gulab jamun for dessert. Delicious wine, great beers, superb service and incredible food. Honestly the best! Had to have a last supper here before lockdown 2.0 😁

I’ve always ordered takeaway from here and having been caught out by the Sunday closing, I had to go elsewhere. Which meant that I value their cooking over other restaurants. Will champion your lamb and prawn biryani til the cows come home! It’s the closest thing to home cooked Indian food. Please don’t change the recipes!

Always have an amazing time at Ma goa! We’ve had loads of takeaways from there in the last few months (!) but always nice to pop in and benefit from the amazing service. Food was outstanding as ever, only downside was that my fish curry wasn’t as spicy as last time - but that’s just a personal preference! <br /><br />We had the prawns to start, and always love the paneer veggie dish. Portions are always spot on too, never too large, but always generous. Cannot wait to come back!!

Usually love this place but service was not up to its usual standard! They have also removed some options from the menu which was disappointing but the food we did have was delicious!

Came here for our anniversary as hadn’t been since we first met 23 years ago. Was even better than before. The 2 girls working were very pleasant and service was good, just a bit of a wait between receiving our drinks, of which we each were given a free glass of Prosecco as it was our anniversary and ordering. Food was delicious and plentiful and there was a lovely atmosphere. All C19 rules were kept and we felt safe.

The food was delicious. The staff are so friendly. I usually get a Mango Lassi, and on this occasion they were out so the waitress came back with alternate options I might enjoy. I really appreciated this, and she was right, the alternate was delicious!
