We were at Chook Chook on a Sunday dinner and it was non very busy. Service was very kind, careful and very rapid, the food was in our table just few minutes after the order. Food was tasty and nice, bread and rice well done, beer excellent. Water could be colder, but the overall experience was very positive. We will come back and test the other plates!

I last left a 5-star review of this restaurant in October 2022. We were genuinely blown away by the service and food at that point. I've returned three or four times, and my girlfriend even more. Sadly, we've never had the same level as that first time. I'm not sure what has gone wrong here other than they appear to be victims of their own success. Service was again too fast despite us pointing out that this had been a problem on previous visits. We'd previously abandoned the street food options as they were never the same quality as on our first visit. The good news is that the starters we had last night, Crispy Cauliflower, Chilli Paneer and Garlic and Chilli Prawns were full of flavour. This had been the same on other recent visits. However, things went badly downhill from there with the Railway Chicken being bland/tasteless and the Lall Maas the same. Neither were generous in terms of the amount in each dish, making it hard to share with our friends, and both watery. The Masala Bhindi again lacked flavour of any description. However, the chilli garlic naan was very well cooked. The pattern of blandness on these and previously tried main dishes means that we have now given up on this place and discovered far better local alternatives. Has the main chef changed? Finally, they really need to sort the acoustics out. There was a particularly noisy group of a dozen young men, which made it very difficult to hear each other. Many restaurants now fix carpet or thin cushions underneath their tables to help reduce noise levels

Has to be one of the worst curry’s I have had. I ordered chicken curry, it’s so watery, I have never seen a curry sauce this eaters down. The chicken is of very poor quality. A lot of fat attached to it, it’s not appetising at all. The chicken biryani is ok, but again the chicken is awful. Personally I won’t use again, and I would not recommend it

So often I have been disappointed with Indian food in the UK, especially in restaurants that serve essentially the same generic curry under multiple different names. Chook Chook is NOT THAT! Each curry has its' own distinct mix of spices, which makes sharing dishes even more fun. We came here on a recommendation from our son, who orders carry-outs on a regular basis. We didn't make a reservation, but right after we were seated a queue began to form so I would recommend calling ahead. Between the three of us, we shared a crispy palak chaat for a starter, and for the main meal we had the Railway Chicken Curry, House Lamb Curry, Laal Maas, Raita, 3 Naans and a Pulao Rice. The three curries were all spiced perfectly - not too hot to mask the taste, but leaving a satisfying burn. Service was polite and friendly. Our waiter was particularly concerned that we enjoy our meal. The food came promptly and was hot. With two and a half pints of Cobra beer, the cost came to £94. Excellent value considering the food quality. Recommended!

The food and atmosphere were fantastic, the staff were also attentive and quick to respond. We did feel like we were being “rushed” to order food, with staff coming to us every 2-3min asking if we were ready to order but besides that we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

We were recommended to eat at Chook Chook by four different people locally and it certainly lived up to its reputation. I think it's probably the best Indian food I've eaten for ages. Absolutely outstanding food. Make sure you try the cauliflower dish on the starter and the chilli paneer. So delicious!! The service was excellent and the ambience very good. One minor gripe worth a mention was the fact that the owner of the restaurant adds a service charge. Nothing new there and I would say that 99% of people (wrongly) assume that service charge goes to the waiting staff. Except that it doesn't. The service charge goes straight to the owner. Shameful. So I asked the lovely lady who served us to remove the service charge from the bill and gave her a cash tip instead. I always ask now because this is becoming a common trend in restaurants now, sadly. Other than that, we love Chook Chook

The food is good but, as usual, the service was v poor because they cannot cope with the level of business they attract. This time the rice dishes we ordered never arrived so we had to eat the bulk of our curries without rice. They seem like nice people, and the food is good, but all 3 times I have been they have failed to deliver basic service. If they could get this right it would be a good local restaurant. I hope they do.

I love the food at Chook Chook and have ordered many times and eaten in the restaurant. However I am really cross that the 3 small tandoori prawns that my sister ordered on Saturday for delivery cost over £15. How can this be correct? She eats this dish regularly at other good Indian restuarants but never has been charged £5 per small prawn. Is this a mistake or just ridiculous pricing?

Excellent new restaurant in Putney. Food was excellent with good choice of both meat and vegetarian dishes. Nice starters including lamb chops and scallops. The decor in the restaurant was nicely done.

Nice neighbor thai restaurant. Plenty of options in the menu for all food restrictions. We tried several appetizer and my favorite were duck spring rolls and the beef salad. The drunken noodles were perfectly spiced. First time there but won't be last. Also the beef, chicken and duck are halal.

A top evening. A well established Putney restaurant that cooks brilliant Indian food. The food and wine menus are helpfully compact, making choices easier and I reckon heightens the results! Delicious all round… perfectly cooked rice, nans, samosas , baked prawns ….and the curries!!Easy to get to, clearly full of locals ( all ages) and family owned. The service was tops too. And they own the wine shop next door. Thank you again.

An interestingly sad experience to be sure. My friends and I had set on having a curry in clapham with one of our friends giving it a reference. We heard about the byob rule - fine to us - and wanted to get a beer before going in. When we went by the restaurant before and a worker really wanted us to come in and sit for a meal who right after we had bought our beers. After buying them and bringing them to the restaurant, we were met with quite hostile attitude. The new worker made a point of us having to order quickly and leave as they were closing. We were a bit shocked since the previous worker, who we did not see after, said we should come in and have a curry. At one point, one of the workers thought our friend had finished his beer, knocked over the bottle by mistake and then shook it afterwards to see if there was anymore which there was quite a bit of beer in it, very unprofessional. To top it all off, they started letting in more customers to sit and eat curry, so I guess the closing time was incorrect! Google had informed us the closing time was later than the workers had said to us, but they were adamant and walked away when we questioned it. Our food was unfortunately average, particularly our friend who had lamb as he said it was quite chewy. Overall, I hope the manner of the employees does more than the food could as it really was unprofessional.
