The best restaurants serving Indian food in Maldon East of England

Took delivery; helped in ordering as needed; delivered in time although we live a little away. Food was good in quality and quantity. It is a good change of taste from usual restaurants and takeaways. Felt it could have been better without food colour and with less oil added.

Take away last night was absolutely amazing! Tasty and good value delivered within the time scheduled! It was a big order but every dish was so good! Would definitely recommend 😊

Booked to go Saturday night with friends, wasn’t overly busy when we arrived but soon filled up. Venue is lovely and is very clean, staff friendly enough, bathrooms in very good order. So started off not great, chap taking the drink order was having trouble understanding what we wanted (2 pints of larger, coke and Diet Coke) to drink. At least the drinks did arrive correct. Then came the food order and again the chap was having trouble, so much so a younger waiter took over. Food arrived with no mistakes but did have to wait for a couple of dishes as it didn’t all come out together which is not good, especially as one of the dishes was rice so couldn’t really start without it, or should I say we didn’t want to. If Im honest my chicken madras was very bland which is very unusual for here normally it’s full of flavour, maybe it was because the owner wasn’t working there this night or they were just having an off night. Will we go again, yes as I’m hoping this was just a bad night for them.

We ate at this restaurant last night. Both the food and service were great. The staff were attentive. Mother-in-law said it was the best Indian she had ever had. Will definitely return.

Restaurant was dead, very much like the decor. Broken woodwork, old decoration, threadbare carpet and broken toilet seat. In fairness the food was quite good but with no atmosphere and dilapidated infrastructure it was an underwhelming experience. Its been there over 40 years and it shows. I wouldn't go back and if asked would not recommend. Do yourself a favour and order a pizza from over the road.

A great experience in a one of restaurant. This place is amazing, the food is authentic Indian food. I’ve tried the fish dishes and the salmon tikka is cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The paneer starters is very nice too, the samosas are unique and much better than you normally get in an Indian restaurant. The curries are superb, Bombay potatoes are so nice. The side dishes are not the same portion size as you would expect, but they are ample for two people and we aren’t big eaters. The cost is reasonable and definitely worth getting the loyalty card. The management are lovely people, they’ve worked hard to maintain a Great restaurant. I like that they are able to explain the history behind the dish and ingredients used to make the dishes so special. They also open Christmas Day, we’ve eaten there on Christmas Day and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed and great food again. One of the best restaurants in Maldon

I have only had a couple of takeaways, but when I collect the restaurant always have a very nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly. From a food perspective for me the portions are not very generous, and there is not as much meat in the portion as other local Indian restaurants. So if they sorted that I would maybe buy from there more.

Wednesday date night and we chose well. The menu is a bit different even though the classics are there. The favours and portion size are amazing. Would highly recommend.

Was not impressed with the food. the Madras tasted like no madras I'd ever had before. The saag aloo was very dry, as was the rice. Won't be ordering again sadly.

I didn’t not like the service I found a bit off hair in my biryani and it was not nice I would not recommend it to anyone and they kept putting the phone down on me.

I don't normally write reviews but I’ve got to say this, the whole concept work on so many levels. , very authentic and tastes delicious Amazing food, the flavours were the best fresh ingredients are used and you can tell a lot of pride and passion has gone into each dish Pretty impressed I'd recommend THE RAJ at Maldon to anyone to try, you will not be disappointed or hungry!!! One of the curry and all sort of Indian food I’ve ever tasted . My whole family and I love their food and we’ve been a customers for many years as well as most of my mate . Just to mention that all food are cooked freshly by a decent respectful family as they do cook from heart. You feel like you eat at home and what a great amazing customer service if I could give more that five stars trust me I would . Thank you to THE RAJ AT MALDON & everyone at this lovely restaurant specially to the MUM AND DAD for the best food I've had in a long, long time! Not welcoming, very unattractive and cold staffs. Wrong order was given. It is very unusual for an Indian restaurant to serve raw vegetables but unfortunately this place has served me some raw vegetables.

Just moved to the area so decided to give this a try. Glad we did. Food was really tasty, great selection, our Chicken Tikka Naga being the star turn. Plenty of it too. We had delivery (decent discount applied, thank you) and it was delivered quickly and professionally. Will definitely be our go to Indian for the future.
