Village Cuisine in Maldon

I have only had a couple of takeaways, but when I collect the restaurant always have a very nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly. From a food perspective for me the portions are not very generous, and there is not as much meat in the portion as other local Indian restaurants. So if they sorted that I would maybe buy from there more.

Always extremely good value and excellent indian cuisine. Menu has excellent specialities, along with an easy choice of basic curries. Very pleasant surroundings and you take your own drink, with no corkage!

Great host 'Sid' and lovely food on a budget. Theres no excuse not to try this place, for a nice night out without breaking the bank. Oh and bring your own wine or beer 😊.

We had 3 birthdays to celebrate this particular evening. Sid & his staff were fantastic! We all got our food together, it was lovely & hot. They even brought the birthday girls out a surprise dessert with candles in & sang to them! You have to take your own alcohol here, which is a massive bonus as it keeps the price fir a night out very cheap. The food is excellent. I highly recommend a visit here 😃

I want to like this place because they are clearly trying hard, so they deserve a try. I'm usually faithful to another local Indian but figured I'd give villiage cuisine a chance .. It was OK ... delivery took 1 hr 20 to arrive after chasing via phone, food could have done with being a bit warmer... Meal was nice but seemed to be lacking a bit of flavour and heat. The food colours were slightly odd, very "neon" but nice. Over All, I'd say the food was NICE not great but nice enough :) I'll give them another try soon if it's the same again I think I'd rather drive and go to Danshiri 😬

Staying in a B & B a few miles down the road and was recommended this restaurant -so glad I went! The restaurant is in a small village and in a slightly 'off the beaten track' residential area but the small parade of shops offers good parking and somewhere to grab some alcohol as the restaurant doesn't (yet) have a licence! Super friendly staff and a classic indian menu. Food was superb and totally freshly cooked. Would definitely return next time I'm in the area.

What a wonderful evening! We both really enjoyed the food, it was superb! Wonderful service and a really great price. This intimate restaurant deserves six stars even though it doesn't have a alcohol license.

Nice little Indian, not many tables and no drinks licence so took our own wine. Staff very friendly and food was good. Would definitely visit again.

Used this Indian restaurant three times now, absolutely great place to eat, you can take an alcoholic beverage with you because there is no licence, food is outstanding. If it's not on the menu, just ask the proprietor, highly recommended Mick and June

We initially popped in for a take-away but the restaurant was so welcoming we sat in for our meal and we were so glad we did. The chicken biriyani was excellent as were the sides and our curry. The waiting staff were attentive but not overwhelming. Would highly recommend and are looking forward to returning in the near future with family. We had a main meal with sides and dessert each, with 2 soft drinks costing less than £30

Always enjoy our meals here whether a take away or eating in. Staff are always very friendly and never short of recommendations of things to try. It is BYOB however there is s shop right next door.

We come here all the time and it serves without doubt the best Indian food around. Sid and his gang are friendly and polite and I convert as many people as I can to get their food from here. Keep up the good work guys !!

We've had several takeaways from here in rather passed few months and every one has been delicious. Seem to get free popadoms in the order and hand wipes which is a nice touch. Great value.

Great, tasty food. Big portions. Staff are extremely friendly, very welcoming, give you a free drink while waiting for takeaway etc. Had a couple of takeaways and eaten in the restaurant. Mixed Tandoori Grill is highly recommended and the Jalfrezi is a good curry!

I was so impressed by the standard of food and the extensive choice of the menu, friendly and professional staff and lovely setting.

Its unpretentious,in a shopping parade and not a large place ...but the welcome is warm,the service is excellent and the food well cooked and well presented.They have some Pakistani dishes which are a bit different from the regular Asian offerings....we went 3 times in a week when on holiday locally.We were also able to take our own beer and wine which was good.

Great little Indian restaurant. My family and I have had a couple of takeaways and eaten in the restaurant two or three times now. The staff are brilliant, the owner is very welcoming and he has big dreams about the place and what he wants to do with it. They get all the little things right, free drink while you wait for your takeaway, free drink to take with your takeaway, checking with you if you want your main course brought out after your starter, all the things that make you feel welcome and that they are going the extra mile.
