Chutney House in Maldon

A great experience in a one of restaurant. This place is amazing, the food is authentic Indian food. I’ve tried the fish dishes and the salmon tikka is cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The paneer starters is very nice too, the samosas are unique and much better than you normally get in an Indian restaurant. The curries are superb, Bombay potatoes are so nice. The side dishes are not the same portion size as you would expect, but they are ample for two people and we aren’t big eaters. The cost is reasonable and definitely worth getting the loyalty card. The management are lovely people, they’ve worked hard to maintain a Great restaurant. I like that they are able to explain the history behind the dish and ingredients used to make the dishes so special. They also open Christmas Day, we’ve eaten there on Christmas Day and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed and great food again. One of the best restaurants in Maldon

The food was great but there is one thing that me personally am not a fan of staff are disrespected and I can not believe the tips are not given to the people who earn them , I had just come out of the toilet and a young lad was holding the door for the boss and there wasn't even a please or thank you from him, I had a good time in there but that did make the experience worse than it could have been, a young lad explained how tips are not actually given to them , which I believe is outrageous considering they were in there at 6pm and when I left at 11pm and they were constantly working throughout those 5 hours and I believe the boys were also under 18 but they were absolutely lovely just wish I could say the same for the owner as they were rude and disrespectful toward staff as shouting was heard from the kitchen, other than that it was a great meal.

Decor was very special , service was nice , Dinner was like home cooked authentic food … A little pricey for 2 mains and 2 beers £86 , ..but cocktail drinks need a big improvement , you cannot advertise champagne cocktail on menu then shove Prosecco in it , that was disappointing so I returned the pretty drink .and no replacement offered otherwise they would of gotten 5 stars

We visited the Chutney House for Saturday lunch with another couple. Excellent food, with a more ‘fine dining’ presentation and quality than your average high street Indian restaurant. Lunch menu is very reasonably priced with interesting and creative dishes. You can eat off the full menu should you wish. Service was very friendly and fun. The interiors of the rooms are pretty cool with a modern twist on old colonial styling. We all really enjoyed our meal here and will be going again.

Visited at lunchtime and chose to eat from their set lunch menu. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, freshly cooked, well presented and good portion size for a set menu. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The decor inside has to be seen to be appreciated. This was our 1st visit and will most certainly not be our last. Give it a try I am sure you will be more than satisfied.

Wow, what a beautiful restaurant, stunning decor with differant named rooms….opulent surroundings, the staff were amazing, polite and so friendly and the food was so good…..I can’t recommend this restaurant enough 10/10 all round.

Went there for their set Vegetarian lunch today and very pleasantly surprised. For £7.95 a lovely plate with two onion bahjis and a paneer curry with basmati rice and a popadum. Very tasty nd a nice chat with ann interesting waiter

We were eagerly looking forward to our meal at the Chutney House but we're bitterly disappointed. Bitterly being the operative word, the restaurant was freeing cold, people were dining with their coats on and some just left the establishment. The food was okay certainly not outstanding which I was told to expect, average at best. Having spent the best part of 25 years in India it really didn't come up to expectations. Indian restaurants in the UK are different but this didn't really warrant a second visit. The staff were very polite and did their best, no complaints there. The restaurant décor outstanding but the important bit the food, missed the mark. Sorry guys I love Indian/Bangladeshi food but I won't be becoming back. I do not enjoy leaving poor reviews especially for my friends from the Sub Continent Namaskar🙏

What an excellent find! We don't often manage to get to Maldon but this year we were delighted to have managed and found this gem of a place. We were welcomed like family. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and coordinated. Staff were very good and attentive. The menu was excellent and we were assured by Ish, the owner, that all dishes were prepared carefully using the best selection of ingredients. To be honest the food tasted amazing. This is not your regular 'Curry House'. It's a culinary experience! The wine and drinks selection were good too. In our opinion the price was spot on. Well be looking forward to coming back.

My wife and I, and another couple, visited the Chutney House for the first time last Saturday evening. We had heard good things and we were not disappointed. The decor is very much that of a country house with multiple rooms laid out throughout the old house. The service was excellent and we were offered guidance on which dishes to choose based on how spicy we wanted to go, always very helpful. The menu was much superior to a normal indian restuarant with different dishes alongside old favourities. The food arrived promptly and was excellent, all 3 courses. All in all a great experience with lovely surroundings, attentive and friendly staff and above all fantastic food. Reasonably priced for the quality of food also. We will definitely be looking to go back soon and would recommend this to any one else to try.

We booked lunch for 14 people, our Probus group and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Food was excellent and because we had a loyalty card arrived a few days before we even go s as discount for the whole group. Excellent value for money and had a memorable meal.

So different from the usual Indian restaurants locally. The decor is beautiful, the food is delicious and freshly prepared and the staff are friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return.

Myself and a few friends went for a charity dinner for Farleigh hospice last night. The food was so fresh and beautifully seasoned and the service was top notch. We all had a great night and we are going back there soon. Thank you Chutney House 😊

My wife and I had read some great reviews of this place and thought it was time for a visit. The building itself is lovely, sumptuously decorated and wonderfully presented. Such a shame that the food was so underwhelming! The starters were OK, but the main courses were just fairly bland and uninspiring. Nothing was wrong with the meal but we just thought it was going to be a lot better than it was from the reviews. Glad we went but not really much reason to return, except maybe for the chandeliers and the wallpaper!

Have now been a few times but waited to review to see if standards were maintained and they have been. My first visit an excellent and good value lunch - had a very well made biriyani. After that returned for dinners, so far three times....

Visited Friday night with friends. Staff very attentive and friendly. The decor was very opulent. Food was a little different and very good, the staff were very knowledgeable and explained the dishes we weren't sure about and made recommendations. Good cocktails too. Would highly recommend.

All freshly prepared food, exceptional tastes, great ambiance and beautifully decorated. Service is excellent, your not rushed as food is freshly prepared, so there’s a nice time between courses to enjoy the food and savor the tastes. Certainly be going again.
