Went last night for the first time. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was outstanding. Beautifully cooked, fresh and tasty, good sized portions and we were very very happy with our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant, we will definitely be back for more!

We stopped off on the way to London on a Friday night, travelling from Yorkshire. About a mile from Junction 9 of the M1 we were thrilled to see it had parking and how nice the restaurant looked. Service was friendly, drinks and food were amazing! Particularly the age appropriate “shots” for our 12 year old girls. We had 4 veggie side dishes and 4 mini plates. Some of the dishes were new and unusual and we loved them. Highly recommend!!

Decided to order a Indian takeaway for a change So had chicken tikka as a starter , tandoori salmon tikka with spring rice as main Peshwarri nan Ordered at 7pm Arrived 830 pm Chicken was stone cold Salmon had bones in it Nan bread couldn't eat, again cold Oh forgot the rice. Guess what cold So I thought only fair, give them a "cold" review I will tell everyone I know about my experience, because bad news travels quicker than good news.

Went here with my brother for an early week dinner. It was a really hot day so the air conditioning was wonderful. The staff were all extremely friendly and the food was simply delicious, so much so my brother insisted on taking every scrap back to his boat to eat later. We were not rushed in anyway and cannot wait to revisit. Thank you The 1971 for a great evening.

We attended on Xmas Eve. There were 9 of us and we had booked a table in advance. Upon entry it was clear they were not prepared for us as no table was set. After staff pushed three tables together and hurriedly fetched some napkins we were able to sit. This restaurant does not have an alcohol licence so you bring your own alcoholic drinks. Popadoms to begin and then straight to mains. We waited over an hour for our mains. When they arrived the food was good quality, tasty, hot and nice. When it came to the bill my party was paying with cash and card. A staff member came over and my wife asked for the card machine. He huffed, rolled his eyes and plodded off to get the machine. We had obviously inconvenienced him. Overall it was a nice meal which took a bit too long to serve and the staffs customer service left a lot to be desired. Sadly, although I enjoyed the food, I will not be returning again due to the staff rudeness and the delay in receiving our food. Those two issues spoiled an otherwise enjoyable night.

Had a lovely evening at The Chambers. Food was excellent. Amazing flavours, totally different experience from your standard Indian restaurant with a nod to traditional style Indian food served in a modern way. Serving staff were attentive and friendly. Decor was modern and good atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.

We visited The Bengal in Wickham Market while passing through from out of town, and were so impressed by the experience. The staff were incredibly attentive and went out of their way to accommodate us, even setting up a table so we could dine with our dog. Their friendliness really made us feel welcome, and the food was absolutely delicious – full of flavor and cooked to perfection. To top it all off, they surprised us with complimentary drinks at the end of our meal. A truly wonderful dining experience! Thank you to the team at The Bengal – we’ll definitely be back if ever we are in the area!
