Indian Ocean in Central Bedfordshire

We have had many take-aways from Indian Ocean over the last few years, which are always great, but last night we visited the restaurant to eat-in for the first time. The restaurant is fairly small inside, which gives it a really cosy feel and a nice atmosphere. It's a family owned business and that sets a really lovely, friendly tone to the experience. We had one of the set meals, to try some of the other dishes which we don't normally order with our take-aways. Everything was really tasty and well made. I'd highly recommend the food from Indian Ocean (particularly the garlic chicken tikka, the chicken chilli masala and the chana rice - plus we loved the chilli lamb from the set meal), and if you're looking for a small, cosy, friendly restaurant to eat-in, then I am sure you'll love it here too.

First time trying this takeaway. The flavour and taste were very good and everything was cooked perfectly. The disappointment however was that we ordered 2 chicken dishes and each had 5 pieces of chicken in which was underwhelming. Decent amount of meat in the kema naan however which was good!

I recently dined at The Indian Ocean in Leighton Buzzard, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel like valued guests. Their hospitality was second to none, with every detail meticulously attended to. The food was the star of the show. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with rich, aromatic flavors. We started with perfectly spiced samosas and melt-in-your-mouth paneer tikka. For mains, the butter chicken and lamb rogan josh were tender and cooked to perfection, with sauces that left us craving more. The naan bread was light and fluffy, and the basmati rice was fragrant and tasty! . The Indian Ocean is a true gem, offering outstanding food and a dining experience that is second to none. I cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to my next visit. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or new to its wonders, The Indian Ocean is a must-visit.

Really good Indian, every dish and side perfect. Butter chicken so flavoursome it complemented the jalfrezi instead of losing its flavour in the heat.

We have used Indian ocean Linslade ever since we got recommended by friends. Highly recommended for eat in or takeaway. They do deliver too. Thank you for our delicious meal delivered last nite. Happy New year Raj and team.

Great little restaurant. A hidden gem in Linslade. The owner and his daughter are very amiable. I think the daughter just helps out but she's brilliant with customers.

Nice food and reasonably priced for the portion sizes. Atmosphere was good, quite a small restaurant, staff were very attentive and gave good recommendations and were very knowledgable. Will definitely return.

Lovely traditional Indian restaurant, the food is excellent! The best naan in town! Excellent Bangladeshi food, the meat is always very tasty and tender. I had the king prawn starter Lamb madras for main with boiled rice and naan! The owner Raj is such a lovely man, he runs the restaurant with his amazing daughters.

We started coming here after my Father in Law brought us, only a few months ago and fell in love with the fantastic food, lovely owner and equally lovely Daughter who is there a couple/few nights a week. It's not a huge place but big enough for our group of 10 that visit, with others dining at the same time. We find the food is spot on every time and always leave nursing our "food babies"! (Ie full tummies). Some of the reviews on here mention small portions? Not sure where they usually eat but I am a confirmed foodie that loves a decent sized plate of food and have not been disappointed with any of my meals. As for rude staff, again, not sure what they are used to but I despise rudeness and bad manners and have always been treated by the people there in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. If you want a decent Indian meal, this should be top of your list. Oh and ask what they recommend from the menu - I did and I discovered a couple of meals I'd never heard of but are nothing short of spectacular.

I had been visited there in evening for single table I ordered some food as well but when i asked for some extra order waiter refused to take the order and the time was only 9:30 during weekdays and he was so rude as well so please take the review seriously no one is free for these kind of stuff

We booked here because its at the end of our road and we needed to try it out. Our party of 4 were seated at a clean table in a cosy little restaurant area. The staff were lovely and welcoming, the father had a chat with us about his family and being there since 1980's The food was served in good time, it was hot and tasty. All cutlery and plates were very clean and warmed. A good selection of drinks on offer, beers, wines, spirits, coffee etc. It's a lovely little place, so glad it's on our doorstep and we will be returning again for sure. Lots of different options for vegan, vegetarian or meat eaters.

Takeaway order - cooked and delivered in good time. Food was piping hot when it arrived. All dished ordered were excellent, full of flavour and packed with meat. I would definitely recommend this establishment and will be ordering again very soon.

Raj and his family are the most genuine people and welcomg hosts that you could possibly wish for. Super food, my favourite is chicken moricha , a lovely spicy flavoursome dish, not oily like many curries. I would recommend you go znd support a great family business serving up sizzling plates of delicious food. And the Bangla beer ain't too bad either !

My husband and I decided to try a different Indian restaurant for a change, what a huge mistake!! The popadoms tasted stale and were served on a filthy plastic bowl and the onion bahjees were frozen in the middle and swimming in grease. I definitely will not be returning to this awful place and I don’t recommend it to anyone

This is a small restaurant and takeaway business. The restaurant is cosy and compact but well laid out. On this occasion as with many others we decided on a takeaway. The owner, Raj does deliver promptly but this time it was a pick up. Ordering is easy by phone, although there is an app via the website. The food was ready, hot and waiting in 40 mins (Saturday night at 7pm). All the dishes were packed and presented well in their containers, even with some requested modifications to traditional dishes for dietary requirements. I highly recommend the Indian Ocean.

Absolutely delicious and fresh food! My usual is a Veggie Korma, Pilau Rice and Peshwari Nan and they are absolutely amazing! The Peshwari has so much delicious coconutty filling both my partner and I always want more than one! Super friendly staff that also made my partner a special Spicy dish since he loves spice! Ate in here purely by chance - and so glad I did. The nicest Tastiest curry I’ve had in a long time. Shami kebab was deliciously moist and chicken dupiaza so good. Salivating writing this😀 highly recommended

Out of all the curry houses in Leighton this is by far the best! The food isn’t oily, always well flavoured and always consistent. Have tried all the others and not impressed. The owner is great and remembered us from the second time we ordered! 5 stars all the way!!!

Enjoyed a delicious take-away last night... it's the first time I'd ordered food from Indian Ocean. Website was easy to order from, food was ready quickly and exactly on time. Most of the food was nice however I was disappointed that the cheese in the Sag Paneer dish was actually cheddar rather than Paneer. Created an entirely different taste and actually wasn't that great. Would appreciate the Indian cheese rather than cheddar.

First time visiting Indian Ocean this Friday , food was amazing, food was very reasonably priced and the owners were very welcoming!

Placed an online order and received my order 2.5 hours later. The food was bland compared to what we have tasted elsewhere and the portions are 35-40% less than the standard takeaways. Comments by the so called owner of this establishment is from the lady with an appalling attitude when you call them to complain and she gave the same attitude when she finally delivered the so called meal.

I called this place in advance booked a table for my grandmother‘s birthday for 630 evening upon arrival the Hostess was very rude told us that they had no table booked and she has been there at that time and had no phone calls for booking I showed her evidence on my phone The time the call was made and how long the call was for And said it only took 23 seconds of a call and she was still contradicting me Not very welcome

We were let down at the last minute by our usual takeaway restaurant and decided to give Indian Ocean a try after friend's recommendations. So glad we did, delivery was fast and the food was excellent. Definitely our new go to curry house.

This will always be my go to Curry House wether it’s eat in take away or delivered. The food here is always excellent with very friendly service I would highly recommend eating here to anyone

My husband and I enjoyed our first visit to Indian Ocean this weekend and are already planning our next visit! Don't be fooled by its informal exterior, this restaurant is serving high quality, authentic and varied Indian cuisine. Family run and friendly, it has a variety of dishes and staff were on hand to make recommendations. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and really brought back treasured memories of a trip to India a few years ago. Thank you to Raj and the team for keeping traditional, delicious Indian cuisine on the menu in Leighton Buzzard!

Wow .....another great curry with family and friends. It’s no secret that raj has made me addicted to hot curry’s. My fav at the moment is chicken pathia. And I asked for it spiced up and it didn’t fail to deliver absolutely stunning. Ask for the cheese and garlic naan bread the absolute best. My wife had chicken rezala creamy but spicy and she said it was stunning. My daughter had the standard chicken pathia. Fabulous again. If you are into your curry’s have a chat with raj he will recommend something which will blow you away. If you don’t believe me see for yourselves.

As usual food was excellent. Was good to see Raj fully booked. The atmosphere is so warm and friendly. Even if you go for a meal for one other users talk to you so you are never alone. Have frequented the Indian Ocean for over 35 years and never been disappointed

I have been eating in this restaurant for 32 years now, I have always found the food to be excellent, if you want a dish tailored to your taste it’s never a problem, the tandoori lamb chops are the best I’ve ever tasted. I don’t often use the menu as I got into a habit of eating the same 3 or 4 dishes, now I just ask for something chicken, medium and Raj always comes up with a winner. On one occasion around 18 of us booked in for a post golf meal, we ate traditional Bangladesh food that isn’t on the menu it was amazing. Ruki deserves a special mention too, she’s a great host and very knowledgeable when it comes to the menu, I can not recommend highly enough!

Went with my parents last night for a curry. Wonderful homely place with very friendly staff. A lovely family business, where customers are treated with a smile. There was even a pair of glasses to borrow, so that my dad could read the menu!They happily accommodate any requests, including making any curry on the menu vegetarian. The food was DELICIOUS and there was plenty. Not greasy or fatty at all. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone.

Looked at some of the reviews on here as I always do when eating alone and decided to give it a go. The place was empty at 6:30 when I arrived but the owner was very friendly and a few others soon showed up.I had the chicken tikka paneer starter which was one of the best I’ve ever had and a garlic chicken masala which again was very nice, spending just over £20 the place was very reasonable and I would recommend

We decided to eat here after coming back from a Narrow Boat trip. The food was delicious and the owner went out of his way to make me a special vegetarian dish with vegetables unique to Bangladesh that I had never tried before. Highly recommended.

This is a little family run gem in Leighton buzzard. Great food lovely friendly atmosphere. It is a small restaurant lovely linen table cloths. If you’re not sure what you want you can ask staff to recommend dishes.

We really enjoyed having the opportunity to try Bangladeshi vegetables such as amaranth and sweet pumpkin which were absolutely delicious. A wide a variety of options for vegetarians. Very nice naan breads and Tarka Dal. Great service. We will definitely be back as soon as we can!

I popped into Indian Ocean on my visit from London. This is a family owned restaurant. The owner and his family are kind and accommodating. The food is clean, very rich in spices and tastes amazing. The decor is simple and perfect for a quite night out with a partner or with family and friends. Top points for speed of service. Do visit and you won’t be dissapointed.

Last weekend I ordered a takeaway from the Indian Ocean. I ordered by phone a 'banquet' - starter, main course, side & naan for £10. I was told it would be ready in 25 minutes.

Ordered and paid on line. Website is very helpful with good descriptions etc. Had to wait only 3 minutes before food was ready

Lovely place great host an excellent food

The food is quite cheap which is reflected in the quality. The paneer melted in the motor paneer which was also hard to catch up with. The picture on the wall was reminiscent of one in our digs in Leicester giving us a home from Home experience. The ten year old menu offers a ‘banquet’ night special which you are ‘politely’ informed is no longer on offer. I recommend a visit to the excellent local branch of Wilko to buy stickers to cover that part of the menu. Blank or picture stickers are available. (See separate Wilko review). Christmas decor is appropriate and timely as it is indeed Christmas Eve.

Just had a gorgeous curry made to order. Even specially made gluten free Chapati’s which my wife tells me we’re amazing. We highly recommended this restaurant for Takeaway or Eat in.

My family have been coming here for 30 years and when I am up from Cornwall I love coming here for a meal. It has almost become a standard event that first night home we come here. Once again Raj and his team produced an excellent selection of Indian food, beautiful onion bhajis followed by a great selection of curries. Friendly, quality and really good Indian food that Raj is always happy to adapt and change. Great to see him getting busier and busier as people here about this hidden gem

I have visited so many Indian restaurants in my time but none come even close to Raj's Indian Ocean. You don't even need a menu as Raj will always surprise you with an amazing dish.

Since moving to LB 6 years ago, we got recommended Indian Ocean and we haven’t looked back since!!! It’s by far the best Indian in LB and in fact I don’t think I’ve had an Indian meal better else where!! Raj the owner has really set the standard with how Indian/Bangladeshi food should taste!! Every dish I’ve ever ordered has been been delicious!! Even on the times I’ve wanted to try something different, Raj is there to recommend or make a tailor made dish for me. Raj and his family are so welcoming every time we visit, makes us feel like family!! :)

I have been eating at the Indian Ocean for 31 years now, I have never had a bad meal, Raj and his family always look after us superbly, daughter Ruki (?) is very knowledgeable when it comes to choosing your dish. I very rarely use the menu now, Raj often just surprises me, always good and the tandoori lamb chops are the best I have ever had. On a couple of special occasions we have had traditional Bangladeshi food which was absolutely gorgeous , looking forward to my next visit already!

Excellent food and excellent service. Great recomendations if you cant decide what to order. You can order some unusual Indian vegetables which are nice to try. They also offer Bangala beer which you cannot get in many Indian restaurants. This restaurant was the first one in Leighton Buzzard / Linslade and has stood the test of time.

Found the website a little cumbersome on the iPad but quickly got my order underway and soon my order confirmation email hit my inbox with an expected delivery time.
