We ordered Kolkata Chicken Biriyani (the very dish that attracted me as we don’t have many places selling this) and to be honest I was not very hopeful that it’ll be authentic. So I was not expecting much from it anyway - but to my disappointment, it didn’t even have the basic biriyani flavours. No trace of kewra water, rose water or meetha water whatsoever which was advertised on the menu. If you’re making any kind of biriyani with chunky over cooked breast pieces, then sorry! it’s not biriyani. It just tasted like some chicken dry gravy mixed rice. The home style on the bone chicken curry was not great either and I am yet to taste their mutton curry (which I also ordered) but I’m not even bothered to open that box now.

Reasonably priced menu until the drinks were added: small cup of tea : £3.42; when asked for mint tea, less than a whole mint leaf was provided until a larger amount was requested! small cup of cappuccino:£4.56. Strange amounts and highly inflated prices Small portion of mango chutney: £2 The biggest surprise was to be charged 13% service charge: How are these uneven and inflated prices worked out?! Considering our table for 8 people was booked a few weeks in advance with the request of a credit card to secure the booking, one would have expected a welcome from the management which was not forthcoming although the young waiter worked very hard to provide whatever we asked for. Too pricey for such unpretentious restaurant.

Really embarrassing and unpleasant experience with friends. We started with papadums which were so soft and stale that they were returned. We then waited an hour for our main courses. Three of the seven dishes were so tasteless as to be inedible and the okra side all batter and no vegetable. At least they didn’t charge for three of the four returned dishes. There are several excellent restaurants in Radlett. This is not one of them. Avoid.

Placed a big order on Uber Eats Spoke to them on fon and they seems friendly and polite so I ordered on Uber Eats. Absolute joke of a restaurant ! Butter Chicken - chicken was raw! Sauce was not freshly made! Probably bought pre made cheap sauce from Tesco .. Mogo was bland, burnt and tasted of nothing! Chilli paneer was okay but not worthy of the price Sweetcorn Masala tasted sub standard! I have complained to U er Eats about the raw chicken! So many positive reviews seems very suspicious and totally unjustified! Most of this order will be put into the bin, where it belongs! Will not be coming back and feel I have been mugged !!! Still hungry and will never be coming back! You have been warned about these cowboys! Thank u for taking the time to read my review.

Been here a few times and now can honestly say you can't find better Indian food in Radlett and the surrounding areas. You can tell this is a traditional Indian restaurant (and not one of those anglicised curry rice naan knock-offs) when you see chilli paneer and spicy mogo chips on the menu. The menu is so well varied with a mixture of the traditional and the curry based dishes with Aamchas own spin that thankfully doesn't revolve around a set list of bhuna, vindaloo, madras etc. which is always so boring for me! The Aloo Papdi Chaat and Bhel Puri are prime examples of what sets Aamcha apart from the usual Indian fare. I've had many of these dishes in other restaurants before but I can honestly say that Aamcha has made them to perfection. They are incredibly moreish. The lamb chops were tender and flavourful. All the curries we ordered were unique and were nothing like the usual curry you would find in a typical high-street 'Indian'. The meat was tender, the sauce was busrting with spice and flavour and you wanted to scoop any remaining sauce up with whatever rice and bread you had rather than leave it which is usually the case in other places. In terms of vibe and service, they've done a great job in making a wonderfully spacious interior that you can feel comfortable in. The service is excellent and the staff are always very attentive. So yeah, hats off to Aamcha for doing something different from the usual. The risk has defitiniely paid off and I hope this review helps you attract more customers as they are sorely missing out if they haven't been! Sorry about not posting any food pics, it was all eaten before I had any time to take a snap!

First off nice looking restaurant, modern although tables were very close together. Poppadoms were not great £4.50 with very awkward little pots with the mint, mango and chutney, chilly in. Wasn't a fan. Lamb chops were extremely spicy and blew the head off my gf. I actually liked them but they were very hot. 3 small (well cooked) chops £13. Chilli mogo chips were undercooked and not great flavour especially for £7.50 barely ate any. Nann bread was fine. Rice fine. Butter chicken cooked nicely but not the best flavor in my opinion, quite bitter and lacking in something more flavorsome. Pints of cobra were very good but at £6.50 a pint you'd expect that. Overall not a great experience and was not particularly impressed with anything on the menu. We won't be visiting here again.

Had a fantastic night here with a friend. Decided to go all out with the lamb chops and chicken wings for starters. The lamb chops were flavoursome and some of the best I've ever eaten. They were sooo soft and had just the right amount of flavour too. If only they served these as a main course for dinner! The cocktails were also fantastic and I highly recommend the Ginger Mania and Coco Exotica, both served fresh with the right amount of ice and amazing refreshing flavours. My main of a generous Saag Lamb was also fantastic and very filling - how they get that super deep rich green colour from the spinach is beyond me but it looked very appetising too. The side of Paneer Masala also very good but could have had more. To top off the main the Peshwari nan was incredible, I've never ever had one so filling and as good as this. Not your traditional style but rather more like a folded sandwich. Overall a great experience, the food was excellent, prices a little more on the high price side, however being Radlett this is probably why. Although I left feeling that I got excellent value and presentation and service also was great. Not to mention my friend and I were super stuffed afterwards! We probably could have shared a main to be honest. I'm now looking forward to going again! If only they had a rewards scheme I'd probably visit more often than normal!! 😀

Lots of rice, little protein Nice decor. Easy to get a table on a Sunday lunchtime. Ordered from the lunch menu. We were all disappointed by the high ratio of rice to protein i.e. very little meat and lots of rice. Manager claimed that there is more protein when ordering from the a la carte menu. Manager claims people ordering lunch ‘want a lighter meal’ which is why there is less protein and lots of rice. Hmmmm. Not sure I agree with that logic and justification. Also ordered a smoothie for my daughter …£7. Ouch. Not cheap. Service added on at 13%. Overall, disappointing experience and not great value. Not sure I’ll return.

Just been here for the first time and we weren’t disappointed! This is not your average Indian restaurant. I loved the decor and layout of the restaurant. The food was exceptional! I had the goat curry and pulav rice and my other half had chicken biryani and we shared a saag aloo and chilli naan. Just a word of warning the goat curry is super hot, but if you can handle heat it is so delicious! Service was great and we were well looked after.

It takes 2 minutes to change your opening times on google maps. We drove 20 minutes just to find out they close from 3-5 pm which cant be even expected as it should be lunch hour… luckily there was a great Italian restaurant next to them which took us in.

Very good restaurant in Radlet. Really recommend mutton curry .. which is really soft and spicy. The Indian cocktails were too sweet and didn't quite work out though

This is a find! It's the find of a decade!! That Aamcha has had its doors open for the last 8 years was a surprise considering that we work just 20 mins away in Watford and are always looking for great Indian food. First of all - This is the most authentic Indian menu I have seen in a long long time outside of London. It's not Bangladeshi and Pakistani versions masquerading as Indian and care has been taken to bring in items from pan India. We had the chilli chicken and crispy okra for starters, the chicken was excellent and as we get in India the indo Chinese bastardized version but done fabulously well. The crispy okra was off the charts! It was light and crispy, absolutely perfect and just as it should be. Spice was even and and the batter was cooked to perfection. For the mains we went with the Champaran mutton in a clay pot - with bones and it was the best surprise of the evening. Delectable and cooked to a soft and falling off the bone the Champaran curry was delicious. We went for the Chicken curry in a home cooked gravy instead of the butter chicken and that was fantastic as well. The accompanying naans and dessert later topped off what was a very very good dinner with friends! Highly recommended and the best part is the prices are way way way lower than what I would expect a restaurant serving this quality of food to have. So go there as soon as you can before they bump up the charge! ;-)

The menu has changed dramatically, with the chicken main course now being "on the bone" ( as is the Goat I think ) I'm sure this makes it very good, but fiddly, and tbh we all found the menu a little bit limited. But having...

Discovered this lovely little Indian restaurant today and had a delicious lunch with a friend. They had a special menu including masala dosa, uttapam, parathas etc. We both enjoyed our food and will definitely go back to try some of the items on their regular menu. The food is a good price. The service was exceptional, very polite and pleasant staff.

No, the twist isn't a negative surprise or over-the-top fusion-y. It's in the presentation. The crispy okra and papri chaat were delicious. The chicken, well marinated and succulent. The goat curry, flavoursome (the masala a tad too much though). Overall, we had a lovely experience...

Excellent food, kind staff (especially the quite old owner who still is active and happy to be there, very touching, even though one should not insist to order with him). Highly recommend !

The food was tasty, and the service was very quick, which was great. However, I was a bit frustrated when the bill arrived without us even asking for it, and then the card machine was brought to us just two minutes later. I would have understood if the restaurant was busy or if there were people waiting for tables, but there was only one other table occupied at the time. It felt a bit rushed and left me with a poor impression, unfortunately. This experience has made me hesitant to return.
