EDIT: also now eaten inside a few times, and it's still fabulous food. Had a take away from here the other day, it was bloody lovely! The yoghurt and onion accompaniments to the 'doms were a bit on the spicy side, but that's as close to a moan as you'll get from me.

Just amazing . Loved the food . Quantity, quality & prices were amazing. Luxry service and ambiance in such a reasonable price for asian food in bushey/watford❤️ Just its high street so park at 5 minutes walk . Otherwise all was fine .

I love the food at Sonargaon! It’s definitely my most favourite place to eat (I’m a foodie & of Indian descent, so know good Indian food!). Been coming here 5 years now! I always order a mini feast. Their fish tikka masala, tandoori chicken, pilau rice & nan breads are delicious. It used to be my regular when I lived in Bushey. Now I’ve moved to St Albans I travel there when I fancy an Indian. Not as frequently now though 😢. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. Especially with my allergy to tomato - most Indian restaurants can’t handle that 😂). These guys can! & will prepare certain dishes for me 🥰

Ever just really fancy an Indian? That's where I was. Really fancied Bangladeshi styled traditional English Indian. I was not disappointed. It is like stepping into a timewarp. Traditional style restaurant with all the dishes you expect. But tastes good, service is good, staff friendly and nice atmosphere. Food not too oily, which was nice Hot dishes not too hot.

Great food and excellent service

Was extremely disappointed. The menus handed to us were so dirty sticky and worn. Not a good start. The deco very tired, plates and cutlery worn and chipped. Food was tasteless. Toilets were in need to attention. Whole restaurant needs modernising. Very disappointing as moved Just moved to Bushey.

We have been going to the Sonragon in Bushey Heath for 25 years. We have never had a bad meal, every dish on the menu is perfect. Always excellent service and a warm welcome. Keep up the great work.

Wonderful restaurant with very accommodating hosts, a great atmosphere and incredible food! The owner often comes round the tables to make sure everyone is enjoying their time at the restaurant. Would definitely recommend a visit :)

We have ordered from Sonargaon countless times. Whatever we choose from the menu, it is always delicious! Great flavours, high quality ingredients, and beautifully cooked. We have never dined in but the takeaway service is great - they always answer the phone quickly and the food arrives within the window given when the order is taken.

Some staff friendly, some not so friendly. Food was OK but smallish portions.

You have to leave by 8pm! This is how we were greated when we pre booked a table for 6.30pm and entered the restaurant. Regardless, we stayed and had our meal, which was fairly pleasant, service was good and attentive, only one criticism about the food was the portion sizes of course's were a little tight compared to other restaurants of similar calibre.

Very friendly staff. Good indian beer on tap. Decor is tasteful and have lovely paintings. If i was you i would ask for the paneer tikka masala which is off the menu and delicious. Will swing by every now and then.

A friendly set of staff greeted us and sat us down quickly. The food and drinks orders were taken quickly. The food itself was tasty, not the best curry, but certainly good enough to make me come back. The price was a bit high, about £65 for two people with no alchol.

Don’t miss the Indian food in this country. This restaurant is specialised in Indian and Nepalese gastronomy, a discovery for someone too fond of the Spanish one (that I keep being a little bit). The food was excellent and the staff kind. We let them advise us on something not too spicy and they scored. I only missed more possibilities of red wine by glasses (Rioja, for example) and alcohol free beer was missed by others.

Very much enjoyed our meal and felt quite safe sitting inside.

We love this restaurant! The food is wonderful and the staff are excellent. Although we had not visited the restaurant for some time they remembered us and even what my usual order was! Chicken Biryania mmmm delicious!

Came here early saturday evening after everything was opened up. Enjoyed our meal, I chose chicken tikka for main and this was certainly sizzling and freshly cooked. Everything else turned up a bit too quickly for me to believe it had only just been cooked. all tasty though....

We have eaten at Sonargon many times but with lockdown upon us, we couldn't go there this year with my 86 year old mum for Mother's Day. But she really fancied an Indian lunch and so the lovely man from Sonargon obliged by delivering a wonderful meal including fresh complimentary papadums and chutneys within 30 minutes, and made her day. Thank you so much. We'll be back (when we are allowed!).

The taste of food was OK as usual but it took 2 hours for delivery. Rang 5 times in between, every time we were told the food was on the way. They were so rude as well and hang up on us a few times. When the food finally arrived, naan bread was completely burnt like a black charcoal, all the containers were leaking, obviously food was all cold. Sent personal email a few times with all the photos attached, no response at all. Horrible management!!! Does not matter if food are all ok, never order delivery from them.

Staff are working really hard during this unforeseen pandemic. Brilliant cuisine and customer service! Treated with respect and always receiving 100% energy from waiters. The food has always been exquisite, and for those who know Indian, will know this cuisine hits the spot! Never fails to deliver !

A fantastic evening with a very good service from all the staff including mr bashir, masum and ali highly recommend this restaurant easily the best in the area my son who plays for arsenal fc academy was very impressed and will return with teamates without a doubt

Great food, they are back on track here. A real shame then that they have zero social distancing set up!!! Over crowded does not come close... A party of approx 25+ people all around 20'ish walking round, in and out, all hugging each other etc. And we wonder why COVID is going up again!!! This made us feel very unsafe. Seems profit is more important than safety!!! A real shame....

Very disappointed as restaurant acting as if Covid never existed, packed in and no measures put in place for anyone’s safety, explained to staff not interested, never going back absolute disgrace, other regulars felt the same and left, maybe think about your regulars rather than cramming in to make a quick buck.

I agree with the post below and was dining when the crowd of 24 youngsters drifted in. We were packed in like sardines. All of the waiters, bar one, wore masks under their chins. It's as if Covid didn't exist. I consequently walked out after my starter. The management gave lots of platitudes but it was all too late....Apart from when there was a punch-up at my local Chinese in 1999, I've never been as scared in a restaurant in all my life....

A crowd of 24 youngers descended of the restaurant this evening - standing up, hugging, kissing, loitering before finally getting seated. We were packed in like sardines and all but one of the waiters had their mask under their nose....it's as if nothing has changed for them... I'm afraid I walked out.

Come here on my visits from Spain to see family and friends. Good service but thought a lowering of food standards.

3 stars is spot on, because it just about tips on the side of acceptability. We ordered onion bhaji, naan, 4 vegetarian curries and Tarka daal.Onion bhajis... seriously bad. Texture like cardboard. Total waste of money, but they can easily resolve this by frying them to order, rather than selling stale items.The curries were actually fine. Too much oil, but nothing terrible. They can pass.The tarka daal was a garlic fest. That tells me they can’t really make good daal. It had no finesse or signs of skill at all. Might be acceptable after a few pints of beer, but hardly testament to good Indian cuisine.The naan was doughy and uneven, though the taste was fine. This tells me the chef was in a rush. Good prep, but poor execution.Would I eat here again? As a lover of good Indian food, id say NO. There are plenty of other much better options. This place is what I’d describe as “post-pub” student discount quality. When the senses are slightly numbed, it will do the job. But if you’re after better quality, authentic Indian, tasty food... go elsewhere.

An excellent meal and top service

Been going there for years. But what a disappointment last night. Food tasteless undercooked chicken. Very rude service. Don’t know what’s happened. One strike they are out. We will NEVER GO BACK. I always took the family there but never again. Sorry they did offer me a bottle of wine when I was leaving I refused it. I do not want anything for nothing. But I do expect good food and decent service. Please all give it a miss then they may learn.

Have been going there for yrs and always highly recommended it but now Their veg dishes are not consistent and also the personal touch of them giving you a compiimentary drink after your meal has gone. Also my husband ordered a bday cake from them and when they brought it out they just dumped it on the table with not so much as a wish. Dissatisfied with their service and food not up to scratch!Won’t be going there again

4 family members visited this restaurant and were made most welcome as soon as we stepped inside the door. The menu is absolutely wonderful with such a large variety of authentic Indian meals and we were all delighted with what we had ordered. Possibly the best Indian restaurant I have visited.

We have been ordering here for the last 5-6 years and it has only got better and better. The staff are extremely nice and the food always excellent. The chicken tikka Rogan with vegetable rice is out of this world. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This restaurant is owned and run by some of the friendliest people I’ve come across in the restaurant industry. They genuinely care if you’ve enjoyed your food and if they can do anything to better your experience.I’ve been here numerous times and tried quite a few dishes and am blown each time. The flavours are spectacular and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Second visit with friends and again impressed by the variety and quality of dishes. Both visits midweek and restaurant full to capacity. Although booked both times still had to wait approximately 15 minutes for a table!!Staff and management very friendly which reduced the irritation. Very happy to return as food so tasty and very reasonably priced.

Last night we went out with Friends to the Sonargaon Indian Restaurant and I am sure that we all have our favourites but I was really impressed with the tremedous service and really tasty food. We all had different dishes and everyone loved their food. The House wine was very nice and sensibly priced. The restaurant was quite busy which in my opinion shows what a popular place it is. We shall return in the near future.

We visit this restaurant every mothers day and for the occasional birthday celebration. It's good to see nothings changed. The food was beautifully cooked, fragrant and delicious bursting with flavour. The owner and the staff go out there way to make us feel welcome.

Delivery 30mins late. Customer service over the telephone is soo poor. Food was probably the worst I have had. The delivery guy was quite fun that’s why I gave it a star! Couldn’t bring myself to try it again.

We ordered six dishes across the board together with vegetables, rice and breads and everything was really delicious with authentic flavours. Portions were very generous and we even had enough left for the following day!

Staff friendly helpful and quick to attend, the food was average nothing special though i remember going to this restaurant over 20 odd years ago and it wasn't that good then and still isn't the decor is dated and in need of a revamp,value for money no not really the bill was some what confusing not wanting to to challenge it we paid it as it was near what we would have expected to pay hmm mmm ok having said that if i was to go there again {which is unlikely} i would scrutinize the bill just to be sure!

A spur of the moment decision to have lunch turned out to be a great idea. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was comfortable and clean, and the food absolutely delicious! We will definitely make this a regular lunch venue!

We went to this restaurant earlier this week for a quick dinner. The food was ’okay’ and no different to the million other Indian restaurants I've been to. However, where it is unique is how they tally their bill. They added £5 to our bill of £80 with the hope we wouldn't see it!! This disgusting behaviour tells me everything I need to know about this restaurant. My recommendation is find another curry house.

We went to this restaurant having read the positive reviews. Such a disappointment. While the wait staff were attentive and very polite (and the restaurant was very busy), most of the food was simply okay, but the curries were way too sweet. We had a few curries to share - vegetable balti, vegetable masala and the sweetest of all, vegetable korma, which was so sweet we couldn't even eat it. My daughter said it was like having main course and dessert at the same time! The manager saw that we hadn't eaten the korma and we told him the curries were too sweet. He went away, came back a few minutes later, and said the chef apologised and that next time he'd take of us/give us a special meal. We were left thinking - how about taking the inedible dish off our bill? Don't think there will be a next time for us....

Very tasty food and great service

I normally get a take away. today I decided to dine in with my two year old. I waited 10 mins for a menu and had to wait a while for my order to be taken. after 30 mins the starters didn't arrive so I asked. one starter the came out and I asked what about the other - the waiter (owner) was baffled. made a start on the first starter which were vegetable somosas only to see I was served meat somosas! I just walked out. it was clear that attention was given to all other dinners who were all white and larger groups verse me an Indian dining on her own with a child. I felt ignored and shoved in a corner. why because I was dining alone with a child, btw who was well behaved and sitting waiting for her food.

We have been coming here for over 20 years .. every meal has been brilliant ... including this latest one. The staff are amazingly attentive, the Menu comprehensive ... the food is wonderful. Highly recommended.

We have been going to this fine restaurant for over 30 years, and all we can say is that if you drive past you have missed a treat

We have been here a couple of times before and have always enjoyed our meal and customer experience. On this occasion we felt a little let down by the quality of the food and the rushed service by one member of the team. My wife thought her dishes were very bland and without spice, she ordered the Rogan Josh main course and the chicken chaat starter . I ordered a chicken main dish and a vegetarian starter dish. To be honest I couldn't tell the difference between the 2 dishes as they were both both covered in a stodgy sauce which resembled a Korma sauce but I don't order a Korma dish . One of our waiters came over to our table a couple of times and kept asking if we were finished when clearly we were not finished. Sorry but probably won't return again now based on this last experience.

Maybe it’s me, but I really can’t understand why this place was so busy. A couple were actually waiting for a table!!

It's been so difficult to find a good place to grab a takeaway from which is consistent. The food here is tasty, fresh and good value always. We are looking forward to finally dining in when we have a babysitter.

Ate here last night. As it was early evening service was good. Food unfortunately oversweet indian food adapted for english taste, spicing barely discernable. Portion size reasonable. Food standards agency gave 3/5 Sept 2017.

I am sick of this place giving you 3 popadoms when you asked for 2 but get charged for 3, 3 times now. Plus i hate the cheek of them charging a 10% service charge then when you pay by card they have the price of the meal but first the chance for you to tip, I have said to them again 3 times that this is wrong but they continue to do it. WRONG! rip off I wont be back. Food average!

Whilst the staff were trying to offer a good service, I felt suffocated. We were aware of eyeballs on us constantly throughout our meal which made my girlfriend particularly uncomfortable. My starter was served in an odd fashion - sag aloo with salad (I mean, not a salad side, actually with the "main" starter). Felt like I was being rushed to eat throughout the visit. When we got up to leave, the waiter quickly came over from his position and his eyes, quite obviously, prioritised looking to see what tip we had left when in reality he was coming to aid his customers out the door and wish them well (right?). There was no tip. I was not impressed by this place.

Went out for a lads night out, we was in the mood for a bit of curry, so we went to this very excellent restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The waiters were extremely helpful, checking up constantly asking if needed any help, the food arrived nice and quick, which gave us very good customer satisfaction. Impeccable service, definently do recommend to a family or friend.

According to the Food Standards Agency, this restaurant scores a “2–Needs Improvement.” Already had a bad experience here. So wanted to put this out there.

This is often a busy little restaurant possibly as the service and food are always consistent.

Interesting varied menu with friendly and efficient service. The dishes are plentiful and indeed we took the rest home with us that we could not manage. I had the Madras and it was just right in terms of spice wise. Would return if in the area.

We visited the Sanargaon for Mother's day. The food was stunningly good. Beautifully fragrant and fresh. Especially the onion bajhis which were the best we've tasted anywhere. So light and delicious. The service was also excellent. Warm welcoming and relaxed. We will definitely be returning!

Ending a short trip to the U.K. To spend with family we all went out Saturday night to this restaurant, having previously booked a table for 7.30pm.
