Fabulous food. Lovely service. Such a nice place. Food cooked fresh and you are not hurried. Lamb dishes very tender. Will definitely be coming back.

I have as had my fiancé been going to the saffron for many years and always been very happy .. But the last two occasions were dreadful... The last visit we sat and waited to be seated for 20 mins in an almost empty restaurant while we watched people waitng to have their orders taken and the only person working was standing behind the bar drinking coke ... We in the end left and went elsewhere.. The time before that we did manage to get seated but then had very distracted service due to a huge row going on in the kitchen that was really loud .. This was always one of our favourite restaurants .. sadly after these visits we are not going to be returning

Went last night for the first time. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was outstanding. Beautifully cooked, fresh and tasty, good sized portions and we were very very happy with our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant, we will definitely be back for more!

We stopped off on the way to London on a Friday night, travelling from Yorkshire. About a mile from Junction 9 of the M1 we were thrilled to see it had parking and how nice the restaurant looked. Service was friendly, drinks and food were amazing! Particularly the age appropriate “shots” for our 12 year old girls. We had 4 veggie side dishes and 4 mini plates. Some of the dishes were new and unusual and we loved them. Highly recommend!!

Of late the quality of the food has deteriorated to the point we won’t be using this restaurant again. For example we ordered a bhuna which looked like soup and was very greasy as were the other dishes. The poppadoms tasted odd and the naan bread was dry. I imagine the chef has been changed. Sorry Saffron

nice ambience and food was ok. Service was a let down. We sat for a while after we had finished eating and no one approached us for extra drinks or the pudding menu. Food was just ok although the lamb we had was very well cooked.

Fabulous food, amazing ambience and beautiful interior having been recently renovated. This restaurant has definitely exceeded our expectations and we will certainly be back.

The worst restaurant ever!!! Went with my family. Ordered mixed grill, lamb chops and aloo chana chaat for starters. .. nothing tasted nice and the portions were extremely small for the price charged. For mains we had lamb karahi n tandoori tawa chicken along with tarka dhaal. PLEASE DO NOT ORDER!! Lamb karahi only had four small square pieces of lamb.. the chicken dish was full of red food colour and the tarka dhaal was a thick tasteless soup. To top off the bad food, we ordered 4 large Cokes, which were totally flat. When we confronted the waiter/ manager he was very rude and confrontational. No such thing as customer service, save your money and avoid.

Superb food, beautifully presented combined with first class service! Cannot ask for more! We will be back shortly for sure.

After spotting the signs of a "plain outside but evidently popular place" we were not disappointed. Starting with the friendly and (just right) attentive service, the whole meal which included some interestingly different pickles with the popadoms and beautifully cooked authentic main dishes was a delight. Will definitely be back!

Was a business visit, they have a huge parking space which is a plus point . Very nice and quiet area. Food was lovely, service was polite and drinks were the stars of the show. Definitely going back . Very easy to get there as just next to m1.

Worst restaurant ever… walked in and was seated to my table today. Service was soo slow.. only 1 other family besides us… took 15 minutes to order drinks, at this point I just ordered food to go with it… the starters I ordered mushroom pakora. This was bland and tasteless.. received 3 but was oily.. onion bhaji was oily and bland.. ordered a parota with my mains which was the only nice thing from the lot.. would have been nice to receive some dips like most other restaurants provide complimentary, but guess what it’s 80p per dip…curry x 2 was bland and again tasteless… as it was Valentine’s Day there was balloons on the table…. Nothing big but my 3 year old wanted to take one home… the restaurant staff/manager said their is a £5 charge to take it home… cost of the meal £45 for two plus a child. No one came over so I walked to the entrance to pay for the meal.. As we were leaving my son wanted to use the bathroom - the guy said he would charge me to use the toilet which I thought was silly and pathetic along with the balloon which I retuned… just a joke…

We’ve been to the Saffron numerous times and had deliveries from there too. It is our favourite curry house. The food is delicious, and the service is outstanding. We held a family birthday Meal here this month and Jay and the team went out of their way to accommodate everyone. We had so many comments about the delicious food. Definitely recommend this brilliant restaurant for dining and for take-away/delivery too.

We chose this restaurant based on previousTrip Advisor reviews whilst visiting the area on a short break. Great food. Good value for money. We ate on a Thursday evening from the special gourmet night menu. It was fairly quiet when we arrived but soon filled up - obviously popular with locals. Service did seem a little slow - though this didn't really spoil our evening. Extensive menu and large portion sizes too. Very good!

4 adults and two children came here for a family meal. The restaurant is nice and the service was good. We felt it was overpriced. £9 for 6 poppadoms and chutneys! The rice portions were far to small and the curry's themselves were bland by comparison to our local. Our bill came to £110 and I don't think we got value for money. I was disappointed because the reviews were so good I was expecting better.

well this Indian restaurant was A bit Different from most Sunday Buffet that you go to i mean it was not a Buffet with food in various Silver trays for you to help yourself no you had to Order the Buffet from the Main Menu same setup main meal, starter & sides as per requirement so a bit of a surprise but no Drama order all the food but one of my friends ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala he had never had it before & he did not like it found it to sweet so the Waiter kindly changed it for another dish i had the Peshwari Naan but i could not eat it all i asked for a doggy bag & the waiter not only did that for me but he gave me a fresh naan the food was excellent the waiters were very pleasant will go back for more.

We eat a lot of Indian food, indeed we live in India 2 months of the year. I can honestly say my meal was as good if not better than anything I have had before.The pickle tray was great, much more choice than most restaurants and the poppadoms were lovely and light and crispy. I had a simple chicken tikka with a madras sauce on the side with pilau rice and nan. It was all excellent.Staff were very helpful and friendly.Very highly recommended

We went here with friends last year, freezing cold outside so fancied a local curry,From start to finish it was terrible, the restaurant was cold, dismal and quite rude staff,We ordered and waited, and waited and waited, only after complaining were we told the kitchen had a staff problem, the food arrived, well......Inedible tandoori chicken pink inside, shrivveled up prawns, warm beer and the sag alloy was inedible, we complained were offered a drink on the house, we declined, nothing taken off for the unfinished foodNever again, I can honestly state the Worst Indian food ever

We come here for my partners 40th and we had a table of 28 people. Every dish was piping hot and nothing come out wrong . Always come here for a curry by far our best curry house our kids love it to . 5 * in our eyes , staff brilliant can’t do enough

Hands down my favourite Indian. I even attend this place on Christmas eve! I recently brought my family here for my father's birthday, a table of 13 and not one single dish came out wrong! Fabulous place, great house wine!

Saffron is a clean, contemporary restaurant with efficient, friendly staff. The food was delicious, couldn’t fault it.

I've driven past this restaurant many times and often wondered what it was like inside and the quality of the food. - Now I know. good food in nice surroundings. We sat on a raised level near to the window in a booth designed for more (probably based on the buildings previous existence), were served attentively and the food (Lamb Passanda as a main) a delight to eat. The nan bread was obviously freshly made and was both light to eat and tasty. Recommend giving this a try.

I visited this establishment on Saturday with my family and found it to be a delightful experience, the decor was very nice and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. The reception from the staff was very good and they treated us with the utmost respect and the food was of superb quality, given the chance I would most definitely come here again. I would highly recommend it to all.

This restaurant is less than a five minute walk from the Holiday Inn but the pavement is on the opposite side of a very busy road.The interior of the restaurant is pleasantly decorated and much better than the restaurant appears from the outside.There was a very good wine list. We very much enjoyed our dishes of Tandoori chicken and Tandoori Lamb chops. There was much more than we could eat, but we could not take the remainder with us as we were flying from Luton airport following morning. The service was very courteous and professional.

We've been here twice so far. You could easily drive straight pass without really noticing it, but you'd be missing a treat. This was our son's recommendation. Superb food, my family rave about it. Staff are really friendly, food is really great. They have their own specialties which we'd highly recommend. Good flavours and sensible sized portions. Grandson just raves about it. The food in the Saffron is always of a good standard and as locals from Markyate the restaurant is still worth a visit despite the strong local competition. The decor is nice, the service is always good and we often get a lift home thrown in.

We stayed at local premier and decided to order from this restaurant. We rang the restaurant to ask for plastic cutlery which they were more than happy to provide, the restaurant even provided empty containers to be used as plates, which was really appreciated. Came on a Thursday evening just me and my partner for a quiet meal. We had the gourmet night menu. From the moment we walked in, we was greeted with a friendly attitude. This restaurant has a great atmosphere, ambient lighting, good arrangement of tables. Nice big car park, excellent service and food which is very commendable. All in all a great dining experience.

My wife and I decided to stop here on the way home from visiting our grandchildren. We had a great meal and the service was excellent, we had possibly the most polite waiter we have ever met . We were stuck in snow and ended up in Holiday Inn next door. We had a stressful day but the guys in Saffron were really friendly and got us warmed up with nice food and service. Very friendly service and very nice curries !! Would definitely recommend !

Food too hot and spicy to eat. Hated it. Worst Indian meal in 32 years anywhere. Couldn't even eat. Would never order anything ever again.

Whilst away with work I decided to dine one night here with some colleagues.Staff were attentive and friendly. There were 6 of us dining on this occasion, food was brought out in a timely manner and to my delight the food was delicious too. We even were given a complimentary dish by the chef.The overall pricing of the food I was happy. It was also a plus being able to get out of the hotel I stayed in and have some decent food.

First visit to this restaurant and no complaints at all. Food was excellent and the portions very generous. Staff very attentive although the restaurant was very busy.

I've tried many of the Indian restaurants and take aways between Harpenden and Berkhamsted and can honestly say that Saffron is amongst the very best. There are quite a few unusual dishes and a coup[le that I'd strongly recommend are the Machli Bakara - small pieces of marinated fish in a fairly hot sauce garnished with chilli and coriander; and the Sho-Coo-Tee - an exotic Goan spicy chicken dish.

Wish this restaurant was closer to me because then I'd go there all the time! Great service and very friendly staff. Gave us a complimentary dish while we were waiting for our main meals. Poppadoms and dip were especially nice as well. Loved that they added sweets to go with our bill as well, a nice surprise. Would definitely recommend!

Absolute quality. I have dined in and had take out and every time it's brilliant. Great flavours, tender meat and the service when you dine in is top quality. My personal fav's are the Lamb Shoo Co Tee and Lamb Pathia.

This is a family favorite found some years ago when staying at the Holiday Inn up the road. The staff are young warm and welcoming. Of late we have visited for family get-together's on a Sunday. The food has always been well presented and very tasty.If you are in the area a visit here should not disappoint.

Drove past this place so many times, thought nothing of it. We decided to give it a go as we have moved not to far away now. We were so surprised from the second we walked in. It's beautiful interior and wonderful staff made it an amazing night. The food was so well cooked, I had the Rogan Josh and my other half a Balti.The poppadoms came with all the trimmings and not just the usual 4 condiments.Good price as well. Highly recommend!

The head waiter was very attentive to my allergy needs, coming over and spending time going through what I could and couldn't have, rather than paying lip-service as other restaurants have done. He then devised a bespoke mixed starter to account for my allergy. Clearly they look a providing a customer dinning experience rather than worrying about covers as they do not rush you through the courses, serving the main course when we were ready not when they were. Clean fresh food, not swimming in excess oil. Highly recommended and will go back.

Saw this restaurant when leaving the M1 at j 9 en route to the Premier inn at Dunstable. Staff are very good and seat you quickly. Drinks brought to the table straight away. Amazing selection on the pickle trayFood was very very good and was by far the best Peshwari nan I have ever eaten (nearly a meal in itself)Next time I'm working down here a visit here is a must!!

The staff were really friendly and really kind to our kids (8 and 5). I was recommended the lamb shank and it was absolutely amazing, the best curry I have had in a long time. The duck starter was also amazing, mild but very tasty.

Llamé para una comida durante la estancia en la vecina Holiday Inn. El menú contiene varios platos típicos platos de curry más allá de la casa. Cada plato era preciosa (incluyendo el pre-arranque con el obsequio del chef) y el servicio era excelente. No es la comida más barata, pero uno de los mejores curris que he tenido fuera de la India.
