An excellent Indian restaurant with some interesting dishes out of the norm.

Went here for my son's birthday, it was lovely. Great food, great service and they made a fuss of him which. Highly recommend

Food was amazing as per usual and the staff are always very welcoming and as it was my birthday today they made it really enjoyable, everyone had a great time

Great food was a little slow coming once ordered, but it was a Saturday 8pm. Lovely food, helped with choice for veggie husband, plenty for him to choose. More symbols needed for which is mild, medium, and hot as a quick glance helps you choose the best for you.

The food and service of the staff at Sitar is always amazing, but the staff went above and beyond for our daughters birthday this evening and treated her to a lovely surprise dessert following our fantastic meal. Our son has a nut allergy and we always find they take his condition seriously and act with caution and with lots of care. It’s always a fantastic treat when we come here ☺️

The staff were super friendly. Really good foos. They were very nice with our four kids. We would definitely recommend the place for families or just adults.

Awful Bangladeshi food, this is not Indian food. Many of the five star reviews appear to be fake . Don’t go , trust us it is not good. Greasy oily minging ‘food ‘ we were all sick afterwards.

I went for the Sunday buffet and it really was delicious. I had two portions and I definitely wanted another but I knew I was full and I was just being greedy! Seriously the food is so tasty and fresh. On a side note the staff are lovely. I’d rang beforehand to check timings and the chap that answered was so friendly and informative I thought I’m going to go. I’m glad I did and I’ll go again. Really really good!

Group of 7. Fitted us in last minute. Lovely courteous staff. So friendly and helpful. Fantastic food. Really tasty. Highly recommend. Will definitely return when I can.

Fantastic Indian restaurant, we visited for my Birthday celebration to try the Sunday buffet and was not disappointed. The food was great and the staff are all very kind and polite. They even went and got me a present and a cake for desert which was a great surprise. Highly recommend and we will come back again!

This is a great family restaurant in the heart of Boxmoor. Friendly and attentive staff that go above and beyond - especially for the children. My children loved the Sunday buffet, great choices available, and the staff were very quick to refill anything that was popular. We spent a lovely Sunday afternoon.

Tarka Dahl, Saag Alloo and Mushroon Bhaji with a chipati. With drinks and poppadoms sensibly priced this was exceptional value for money and would explain why the place was packed early on a Saturday evening.

You are greeted like family when you walk through the door. We were staying away from home for a few days and found Sitar on a Google search, enjoyed it so much we returned the next night.

Not great if you have a nut allergy! Have never struggled to choose from a menu at any Indian restaurant, but Sitar’s menu was 90% nuts I honestly felt so uncomfortable eating anything as I didn’t know weather cross contamination was happening or not. Not one dish on the menu had an allergen note next to it nor did they offer one. The service was even worse to make the night better and on top of it all the music was so loud you could barely hear the person sat with you. Not a great experience and won’t be going back!

Poor service, tasteless food, food not brought out at same time, rude server. Something has changed at Sitar, used to be fantastic!

Decided to try this restaurant on reviews and local news, what a disappointment, on entering the noise was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. We had a table for 2 it was small, and we struggle for space. We ordered a bottle of wine and had to pour it ourselves, come on at least the waiter should have poured the first glass. The food wasn't that great, maybe if you don't know what Indian cuisine is all about, then you would like it, unfortunately i know what Indian cuisine is all about, and this is a long way from it. Food was bland and over cooked which happens when you have a very large menu. Also going for a meal should be enjoyable and by this I mean that you shouldn't have to sit there and listen to people swearing their heads of, and the restaurant owners not addressing this. if this is acceptable at the Sitar then it goes along way to show how bad this place is. Would i return, definitely not, I would rather stay at home and cook it myself.

Good food & service especially as we had a party of 18.. Good value for money & generous portions

I've never been "out for a curry" before and was not dissappinted when I came to Sitar!!! Easily subbed the best curry in Hemel, and rightfully so! The staff is incredible, knowledgeable and kind, the food is delicious and prices very reasonable. If you can't eat it all, you can get a box to bring it home with! Nice linen table cloths and napkins, and their display ans presentation of food is great! Makes me feel like royalty! Not normally a curry eater, so the advice from the staff Is extremely helpful! We've booked a table for Christmas! :) can't wait to come back. Not sure what I may try next time... Side note I have a shellfish allergy and they are very kind and diligent in dealing with that. Makes me feel safe and able to enjoy the food!!!

Order via phone at 10 to pick up asked 3 dishes they read them back to us and we confirmed arrived at the restaurant got charged more then we thought got back and realised we got an extra dish we didn’t ask for (oh well it happens) started eating and found hair in the food absolutely unacceptable won’t be eating here again and can’t recommend to anyone else

Terrible. We ordered a take away for collection Friday night, was told 40 min wait time I arrived on time to the waiter double checking my order for departure. I got home to food being COLD, a main dish missing and a naan bread that was burnt and as hard as a house brick (also wrong naan bread). Sag paneer very disappointing also. Phone call later I’m on my way back to pick up missing dishes. No apology on collection. Get home again to the worst tasting curry. Never again.

Had a fantastic birthday here yesterday and would highly recommend, the staff / service was fantastic and they took my nut allergy extremely seriously and made sure I was fully aware of the food which i could / could not have. To top it all off I even got a present at the end which was wrapped along with birthday music and a cake :) All in all, great evening and will definitely be coming back soon. Thanks everyone!

I don't know what's happened to this place, but my partner and I went on Sunday and the food was so poor. We were so disappointed as this has always been a great curry house. The Mango Chutney tasted mouldy and we did bring this to the managements attention but they said this was a supplier issue. I liked my starter but the main was just awful. The peshwari nan was gritty, literally crunchy for some reason, nothing like I have ever experienced before, it was so off-putting. I ordered a Tikka masala and it had no flavour, the sauce was mostly food colouring and was just so poor to what we have had there before. we left so disappointed and sadly will not be returning.

No complaints. Every time I come to London, I go there and enjoy an excellent meal. The meats are fresh and the dishes are generously garnished. The staff is respectful, smiling and welcoming. Like all the other times, I will come back!

Was pressured to hurry along when we came in at 8.45pm. Quality of meat was poor with both of us feeling unwell for a few days after. Chicken tasted tough and tangy. Service was poor with rude inexperienced, young waiters who then had the cheek to ask for a tip at the end! This used to be a really nice food, service and experience but now it's gone massively down hill.

Disappointing. Found a stone in my food. Nice starters but not a great main course. Make you pre-order your food before you get there on a Saturday evening for a 9pm booking. Claimed it was busy when it wasn't that busy. Poor seating area. Will not be going back.

We went for a lovely birthday meal at the sitar last night. Very friendly staff, brilliant atmosphere and fantastic food. Would recommend definitely, the service and quality is second to none. They even brought out a cake for the birthday lady.

Standard curry house. Nothing wrong, nothing especially interesting about the food. Very good value banquet. Service friendly.

The Food was excellent so was the hospitality from all the Staff who were all polite to our needs & requirements. The Service was quick & very efficient. If there was any Negatives then charging us £4-00 for the foil containers for the Doggy Bags was a bit below the belt as the food was for the younger generation that couldn't eat it all especially when the bill came to just shy of £340.00. Better to have them thrown in for a better Review....

Friendly and attentive staff. I had one of their new meals, Mint Exotic with lamb and it was quite spicy but delicious and tasty! Would recommend 👌

An enjoyable meal with friends, good service, good food and delightful surroundings. On my return several months later, equally as good, a great place to meet with friends.

We went for an early meal at 5pm. The food was absolutely delicious, probably one of the best curries I have had. The service was excellent and staff were very friendly.

18 years going there and still the only curry place we go to. The service is exceptional and consistently so. We prefer to go early (they open at 5pm) as they can be quite busy later in the evening and we prefer to be quiet.

Very nice place, warm and welcoming. Hosts are the most kind and friendly, recommended to come if you are looking for a nice place with the family.

Never never let them make you pre order, even if you are a large group. Meats all dried out, dried out rice and skin on sauce, really not very nice, clearly prepared and cooked way before our reservation time. Not even very busy.

1.5 hours for the food to be delivered. Took three calls to get an ETA, and every time I was told it is 5mins away! I didnt know Boxmoor had a different way of time keeping! Great food, but abysmal service.

Staying in the area and was recommended I try out this restaurant. Can not rate atmosphete as I had a takeaway. Very friendly staff. Food was excellent 👌. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good curry.

I ordered 1 keema naan, 1 peshwari naan and 1 popadom. Got home to see the keema naan burnt, and the peshwari naan burnt and undercooked with the dough they use still soggy. I have had a long day and to order this for takeaway to get home burnt naans not happy at all.

Absolutely fantastic! This is a lovely, well furnished restaurant with top drawer food and very friendly staff. Unpretentious is correct, but it doesn’t mean reduced standards. We were visiting from Australia and as such not regulars. The gentleman that served us was great, recommended dishes and had a great chat about football. Then the owner came over to ensure we enjoyed our food. My only regret was only getting there once. Had a brilliant meal and enjoyed the evening.

The food is delicious! Staff are friendly and great with recommendations. I had an array of dishes and enjoyed every one of them. I haven't stopped recommending The Sitar to family. Will say that it is definitely worth the drive for me. If you haven't been, be sure to pay them a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Not happy I booked on line a table for my wife’s birthday (today 15/08/22) when we arrived closed not a word from the restaurant to say closed on Monday ok I should have checked myself but the restaurant should have emailed me.

Excellent Indian restaurant with superb food.

Had a lovely meal here recently with my husband. The food was fresh and flavoursome. The staff were all very attentive. The manager was very friendly and accommodating. The popadoms and naan bread were particularly fresh, the best by far we have had in an Indian restaurant. We found the ambience lovely and the restaurant to high standard of cleanliness. We felt totally relaxed and confident to eat in this place, definitely a little gem of a restaurant. Would give 6 stars if we could, could not fault them on anything. Would definitely go back and recommend. Thank you all at the sitar! 😊

Such a waste. Amazingly waste. I am not sure what makes other give such good rating. Nothing about this hotel is remotely Indian. Wasted my money big time. ( AVOID times infinity )

Fantastic food! Best food I've had in a long time. HIGHLY recommended.

We called in late without booking, they were about to close for the day, very kindly offered a take away option, we placed our order very short wait for our meal, they even arranged transport home for us. All the staff very friendly & helpful, food was lovely. Definitely will go again. Thank you all the staff at the sitar.

Friendly staff, lively atmosphere, contemporary decor and great food. Menu is reasonably good value, but drinks will soon inflate your bill.

Attended a Birthday function with my family. We had a large party. The service was Amazing, the Food was Great. The Staff were Attentive and Accommodating. They provided an extra table for a cake and had no problem with us bring our own decorations. Sitar get 5 stars from us.

Use to be a lot better when I last visited 4 years ago. I was unfortunately not able to have the dishes I wanted as the meat wasn't halal which was a shame.

I like the food, the staff and the ambiance. 4 of us had a substantial meal. shame I don't have a photograph of the empty plate to show how much I enjoyed it.
