Great food as always and extremely friendly!!!! Can’t wait to come back and enjoy more of the menu!!

Shah was welcoming and the food was great. I still recommend eating in over a take away to really appreciate the food at its best.

Our visit to the Nirvana should have happened in March 2020. We finally made it seventeen months later and the wait was worth it; the food was wonderful, freshly cooked with wonderful flavours. The service was excellent.

And so after all that has happened we returned to the Nirvana. The anticipation had been building slowly over the months since we were obliged to cancel on St Patrick’s Day 2020 and I have to say that Sha and his merry men did not disappoint. The food was as always excellent and the staff were as attentive as ever. Thank God one thing at least has not changed. We have been regular customers probably since it first opened maybe oh I don’t know 30 odd years ago and are looking forward to keeping up the good work. John and Carol

We have been visiting Nirvana regularly for over 20 years and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming and the food freshly prepared and tasty. Good all round restaurant, highly recommended,

I've just paid a visit to the Nirvana restaurant in Ingatestone high st and yet again the food at the Nirvana was and is outstanding, I cannot recommend a visit highly enough to anyone who enjoys top quality Indian/tandoori food. Needless to say, every visit is supported by a warm welcome from Shah and the service team who, to a man, demonstrate superior levels of customer service.If you get the opportunity to spend some time dining at the Nirvana, I can assure you, it will be time and money well spent.

Nirvana has been our local Indian restaurant for 26 years. We’ve enjoyed every visit, with family, friends and as a couple. The service is excellent. Sha and his team are extremely friendly and efficient. The food is good and the menu is extensive.

Sha, the team and the food is simply different class. Having just moved to ingatestone we were keen to try them out after hearing some rave reviews from friends and family. They didn’t disappoint. Easily the best Indian food I’ve eaten and I’ve eaten a lot :) highly recommend the peshwari prawn special also the onion baji’s are to die for - highly recommend.

Disappointed. Ordered a selection of items we had had before both as eat in and takeaway, picked up on time and Tandoori Prawns and Onion Bhaji were cold, garlic Nan had no garlic and coriander and chill Nan had neither. Sag paneer was not sag paneer as it had coconut in it?!? Yes it’s lockdown yes they were busy but come on, at least provide what’s ordered and in an edible state.

Just like to thank Sha for the great service at the Nirvana. My family have been using it for years great service and great food. Takeaways are excellent too. Let’s support theses guys during lockdown !!! Thanks Oliver

An awesome Indian takeaway that everybody in the area must try! Food is second to none and is extremely consistent week in week out. Well worth travelling from Chelmsford to Ingatestone for (and I would travel even further!) Big thanks to Sha, amazing as always!

This was our first visit to Nirvana. We decided to get a take away on the way home & googled where was close to us as been going to the same place for a while which isn’t so close to home. We only ordered a couple of dishes, chicken tikka masala, Bombay potato, mushroom rice & a naan bread & down papadums, but the portions were of such a good size that it was more than enough for the both of us!The food was lovely, hands down the tastiest Indian cuisine we’ve had for a while and the value for money was great too!!!Sha was very friendly and gave us complimentary sauces as it was our first visit. Although we didn’t sit in due to Covid, the restaurant looked inviting, modern decor, clean and spacious. We will definitely be paying this place a visit when the lockdown relaxes.Nirvana will now be our go to Indian restaurant! So happy to find this place on our doorstep!!!!

We've been coming to Nirvana for years and it never disappoints. Great value takeaway and always efficient and polite service when dining in. Extra praise for Sha the manager who's a great guy! Ingatestone is lucky to have it.

One thing I must say, the Karen Snowflake comments that I am reading on here about poor service, poor food etc is just utter bullcrap!I have supported Nirvana since I was a wee kid, one of my favourite places to have food in Ingatestone, we should be lucky we have a great curry house in Ingatestone, once it's gone, it's gone! Support your local outlets! So for my review, we ordered two Curry's,rice, and so much more which when we came to pick up, they provided us with free beers for my birthday! Food was fantastic as always.Will be back, thank you Nirvana!

So good to see Nirvana open again after lock down , in my opinion this is one of the best Indian restaurants in Essex , they have just had a refurbishment & really looks great.Mr Hoc who is the boss has really trained his staff well & has made his restaurant relly safe against the virus

This is our favourite Indian restaurant in the area. The food is consistently great. Tasty and good portion sizes. Sha and the guys always look after us, the service is great and we always enjoy ourselves. The food has also been really nice when we've ordered takeaway and has always been ready in good time.

Cannot fault the food from Nirvana. Moved to nearby Margaretting 12 years ago and have used them ever since. Friends who have been over in the past and have ordered a takeaway from Nirvana are always as impressed as we are. On my last visit on the 2nd June which happened to be my husbands birthday, I was given two Cobra beers to take home and £5 off my order.

Dads birthday he’s 84 would usually eat in as a family. As governments restrictions we had a takeaway instead.it was scrumptious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely customer service . It is always our Indian restaurant of choice even though I live 8 Km away. Thank you

Nirvana has become our firm favourite. The excellent team are always on point and manager Sha is a fantastic host.We visited again last night for a family meal, the food was delicious all round with the aromatic and tender lamb chops stealing the show. The atmosphere was ideal, the welcome warm and once again we had a memorable time. 100% recommend you visit this lovely restaurant.

My husband booked the Nirvana for my family birthday meal. The food was excellent, we ordered a range of fish, seafood, lamb, vegetable and chicken dishes. Everything was delish, fresh and hot. I particularly wanted to try something different, the staff helpfully explained and recommended dishes.Mr Shah is a friendly man running a lovely restaurant - give it a try, he’ll ensure you have a beautiful dinner :)

Nirvana is my local Indian restaurant and it is an Ingatestone institution. It is one of the few old school curry houses left where they serve a huge variety of freshly cooked classics but also include amazing traditional dishes and chefs specials. I have had many great takeaways before today eating in the restaurant for the first time with family. Curry was a great alternative to a traditional Sunday roast. Naan breads fresh from the tandoor, tasty balti dishes and delicious butter chicken. The whole family really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the ever friendly Shah and his team really looked after us with great service from start to finish!

This Indian restaurant is centrally located in a well-off corner of Essex. Its slightly shabby decor could do with a facelift but should not detract potential customers. Its food is of the highest order and is recommended. In fact, I think it beats Shenfield Tandoori, my usual trusted restaurant. What pulls this place down is the awful customer service: the waiters just did not care. The wine (2 bottles) order was wrong -they opened red instead of white (doh!) and main courses came up haphazardly leaving one of our party of 4 waiting. The food dishes were just dumped on the table without any effort to place according to order. What a shame because the cooking was excellent. The poor service meant that us meek/mild/middle class customers did not pay the usual gratuity. Will they learn: probably not. Will I go back - yes for the food but will be under no illusions that my custom is welcome.

Nirvana still manages to serve the same delicious food 3 years later since we’ve lived in the village, our favourite place to eat out in ingatestone. We know the waiters by name and they’re the loveliest guys, we get such a warm welcome on every visit. Sha and Raj are so attentive and couldn’t ask for a better service. Never had a bad meal, honestly try the food and you won’t go to another Indian restaurant

Ok so we didn’t get here till 10.30 pm, there were 2 other couples in there at separate tables, whom all left as we were ordering our meal, so just left us 3, myself my husband and son in the whole restaurant. There were 3/4 waiters, all of whom looked extremely glum and miserable during our whole eating experience. We ordered poppudoms for starter, then I said what do you serve that is vegan, to which he replied only Vegetarian, so my husband suggested Vegetable curry, so I ordered vegetable curry and coconut rice, my husband had keema nan and a Balti and my son had pilau rice and chicken korma. Whilst eating our meal, 3 times I looked up and one of the gloomy waiters was standing against the wall just starring at us continuously, so after the 3rd time, I said loudly to my son, is that man supposed to be watching us eat? Surely that’s rude, which I take it he heard, and he walked away.My sons meal looked nice, but myself and my husband didn’t like ours at all, I had a massive plate of strange tasting coconut rice and a tiny portion of vegetable curry, which thinking afterwards, I think they served me a side dish, instead of a proper sized vegetable curry, but was still charged £5.95 on the bill for it. Not once did they ask us if everything was ok and if we were happy with our meal.I told my husband not to leave a tip, but he paid the £37 bill and left £1 tip.We would never go back here. I’ve just read some other reviews which are quite different to mine....We must of gone on a bad night, but an Indian Restaurant empty at 10.30 pm on a Saturday night, I think it speaks for itself.If the waiters were happier, smiled maybe at their customers, it wouldn’t have been quite such a bad dinning experience

Wow what a meal, we visited this evening to find that this fantastic Newly refurbished Indian restaurant in Ingatstone. A man called Mr Shah looked after us and gave the best service. The food was amazing. Will definitely be returning very soon. You must try this restaurant.

Great food, good price and Sha always makes sure you are well looked after. Over many visits it always lives up to my expectations. Many great sit down meals with friends and family or for a brillant take away after a long day.

We went to Ingatestone expecting to eat In the lot bar and restaurant which is always excellent but it was closed . We tried Nirvana and weren’t disappointed. It’s an authentic Indian restaurant with great service and friendly staff. The food is great quality, very tasty and overall the ambiance is good. It’s a lovely village and would highly recommend it for a great Indian meal with friends. Monday night and still busy. A great find!

I don’t know what’s happened to Nirvana, but it has endured a sharp decline with no sign of recovery. It’s a shame as the quality used to be great, however it’s now a shadow of its former self. The quality no longer justifies the price.

If you are lucky enough to stumble across this excellent restaurant, congratulations I’m certain you won’t be disappointed! The reception from Mr Sha & his team is second to none, but the real treat is the quality of the cuisine....indulge on King Prawn Shashlik coupled with a Chicken Tikka Pathia, accompanied by Saag Aloo, Mushroom Pilau & naan bread......you the guest are made to feel very special & of course once you find Nirvanna you will definitely return & each time, the service & food will impress you

Friday is my takeaway night, the one of the week where I like to indulge myself on my favourite choice of cuisine, As I child I was brought up on curries and I think I have a very discerning taste. I have tried all of the local curry restaurants from Brentwood to Billericay and sometimes they are good, but a lot of the times they can be very poor. I have found that Nirvana offers me consistently good food. I now choose to go there every Friday after a long week at work, knowing full well that I will be rewarded with great food and speedy service. The staff are friendly and on occasion, I even get a free Cobra whilst I sit and wait.

Me and my husband went to nirvana for dinner and was was really impressed , it was mid week and the restaurant was very busy . Everything we orde was very tasty and freshly cooked . We will defiantly be returning .

I always get a Takeaway from Nirvana as it is my local Indian restaurant. It’s relatively well priced, slightly expensive but I’m willing to pay the extra as the quality is normally great. Occasionally, the food can be a bit hit and miss but the majority of the time I haven’t been disappointed. Inside the restaurant there is a lot of space and staff seem to be friendly. I’d recommend the balti dishes.

Great service as ever, with Sha especially helpful, friendly and attentive. Food on this occasion was excellent, especially the duck bhuna, lamb vindaloo, peshwari nan and dhal tarka. I like the new decor but it is the food that brings me back. Such good value too. House red (italian merlot oddly enough) is fairly priced and goes well with the spicy food.

I have eaten in this restaurant tonight with 5 friends. It was the worst experience ever. The waiters were rude, the service was disgusting and the food was less than satisfactory. Never again

We love nirvana, we have a take away or visit the restaurant to eat most weeks. The food is always good, we wouldn’t go anywhere else now. The staff are very friendly and always make us feel welcome. I particularly like that the restaurant opens at 5.30pm which is a good time to take our children for dinner. Equally a great atmosphere later in the evening for a night out with friends!

We use this restaurant almost every week either for takeaway or eat in, the service and food is fantastic!! We always receive excellent service from Sha who has been working here for almost 20 years and takes care of his customers so well, his service is second to none! First impressions decor was very poor didn’t feel cosy , and the lighting was so bright too many spotlights in the ceiling but nit spaced apart enough .

First visit, but won’t be our last. Food was very tasty and enjoyable. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

We hadn't booked, but a table was quickly found for us by friendly and courteous staff. The menu contained no surprises - much as you would expect from a good Indian restaurant. However, the quality of the food and the presentation skills were excellent. We had a lovely, relaxing meal. The staff were attentive, but not overly so and we did not feel at all rushed. Can highly recommend.

Ate with friends last night, service and food were excellent. Recommend chefs choices instead of going for what you might normally have.

I’ve got to say nirvana is my favourite Indian (Bangladeshi) restaurant in Essex. I’ve been coming here for about 9 years now and it’s time I gave them my official seal of approval. Well done SHA to you and your team. It’s another great Indian meal.

Pleased to say that Nirvana is back to its best. The food is excellent, the service attentive , if a little quirky and rushed at times. Went for dinner early on a Friday evening and the place was packed. Great freshly cooked King prawn puree with a crispy base to start then the legendary chicken Bon Gow and a Lamb Madras all cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. Doesn't leave a big hole in your pocket either which is a rarity these days. Very pleased to have Nirvana as a local .

About time we wrote a review because we’ve been coming here for 15 years. We have been to other Indian restaurants and we do not trust the food to be as good as Nirvana. The menu is extensive, and they reinvent Indian food in a way that no other restaurant does. Shah and his staff always provide a good level of service to their customers. If you visit this restaurant on a Monday night the restaurant will still be busy - that’s how good the food is. Try the “exceptional menu dishes”, Indian food with a twist!

We have been coming to this restaurant since they opened in 1995. The food is always excellent and the staff very polite and helpful. Shah especially always makes you feel very welcome and finds time to talk to you. This is a restaurant we will bring friends and family to knowing they will enjoy a fantastic meal. My grandsons love it.

Service was excellent and the waiters are very friendly. The food was generally good, with a couple of our party saying their dish was excellent. There’s a buzzing atmosphere but not much in the way of interior decor, which made it quite loud at times. All in all, a good night out.

Living where I do in Cornwall I do not get the chance to eat at a “proper” Indian restaurant so I was very pleased to eat at Nirvana this evening. The welcome was friendly and professional although the restaurant was busy and we hadn’t booked we were found a table and our order was taken quickly but hurried, it was great to drink Kingfisher again. The food was delicious and I will definitely visit again.

Whilst it is true that the decor is a little tired, and I didn't get the tap water I asked for alongside the bottle of House Red I ordered, I will keep coming back because the food is excellent. Nirvana was busy on this Thursday evening but we still got all our food without delay. The usual poppadoms with pickles whetted the appetite for Goan fish curry and a lamb vindaloo along with dhal tarka and pilao rice. I notice that another reviewer described a curry as bland. Well have a word when ordering as the chef can modify the spice content. The meal was absolutely spot on, the lentils creamy and thick and the lamb tender and in a rich hot sauce. The Goan dish was authentic and better than I had in Goa quite frankly. A complimentary drink with the bill and a kind word from the manager at the end. I haven't found anywhere better in the Brentwood area.

1st takeaway we had was cold and not much sauce in tikka masala , gave it another go as we live in the village , forgot the chutneys and couldn’t bring to us even though was quite in restaurant at the time !

Three of us had a great meal at Nirvana on a recent Saturday night. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious. My husband has become very fussy recently as he says that we often eat better at home, but even he enjoyed it. We will be back!

We went to Nirvana on Saturday night. The restaurant was busy and they were doing a roaring takeaway service as well. The food was superb. I asked for a slightly different dish not on the menu and the reply was of course! The food was absolutely delicious. The service here is amazing, quick and friendly. Also, the menu is extremely well priced. I highly recommend this fabulous Indian restaurant to you.

I rarely go to Indian Restaraunts, so am barely qualified to comment. However, steered towards a prawn korma, which I enjoyed. I have read of favourable comments about the staff but I did not find them particularly convivial on this occassion. However, it was a pleasant venue for a ex-colleagues reunion and I would recommend it to others.

We visit here regularly, the food is constantly good and prices are reasonable. The chef and staff have been here over 18 years so I think it's safe to say they know what their doing!

Had to meet clients in Ingatstone. After a drink in The Star we saw The Nirvana it looked very inviting. We went in there and was welcomed by a Indian man who turns out to be called Mr Shah very friendly and service was excellent. We ordered and the food was excellent will definitely be returning very soon. Definitely give it a try

Absolutely superb is all you can say about this place. Whether you go there on business or pleasure, it never disappoints. The service is great, the food is the best by a country mile over any other Indian restaurant. You cannot go wrong!

it was a fabulous meal. The lamb was beautifully tender and spiced so well - go for the Lamb Korai or the Bongow Lamb. They must have an a great chef. The service was excellent - full marks to Shah for running such a wonderful restaurant. It certainly was Nirvana.

Yes the decor is getting a little dated but it just doesn't matter because if you want high quality food whether the old favourites like Vindaloo or one of the chef's more modern specialities, you will not be disappointed. And frankly, it is very reasonably priced. I had a superb meal and the staff added to the enjoyment of the evening with their friendly exchanges. They even brought another complimentary drink - for both of us - when my partner spilled hers. A memorable evening.

I booked this restaurant leaving a message on their answerphone but they didn't seem to expect us. The food was excellent and would have deserved 5* but goodness the waiting staff were in rather a bad mood. The restaurant was busy but not every table taken. Evening spoiled by the rather grumpy waiters.

Mi familia y yo hemos estado viniendo aquí por unos 15 años y por un restaurante indio local me parece excelente. Es las pequeñas cosas, los camareros nuestros nombres, y siempre saben nuestra cerveza y órdenes de arranque, el Papadums siempre están frescas no rancio...

Esto sucede todo el tiempo y más a menudo que no. ¿Cómo puede olvidar un arroz sencillo que ha cobrado? Tan molesto como yo quiero me encanta este lugar, pero por desgracia no te dejan.

Ir lejos de aquí todo el tiempo. V sabroso. Lo recomiendo. Si tener comida servida suele ser v ruidoso y difícil de oír la conversación.

Como familia hemos visitado regularmente desde que se abrió el Nirvana. Hay un montón de servicial y atento personal. Hay una amplia selección de comida, incluyendo diferentes niveles de especias (calor inteligente! ). Todos los cursos incluyen una gran variedad de ingredientes principales de peces a través de verduras y carne. Hay listas de entrantes, platos principales y postres, pero les puedes mezclar y también compartirlas. También tienen comida para llevar que no dejar el sabor. Durante todo excelente.

La comida es fabulosa. . . . Mejor Indio kilómetros! ! ! Realmente recomiendo! ! Siempre comida maravillosa y un personal muy atento.

Estado yendo a Nirvana desde que abrió sus puertas debe ser de 30 años, en mi opinión, este es uno de los mejores restaurantes indios en Essex. Nunca he tenido una mala comida. El personal es excelente, nada es demasiado problema.

We have been here a number of times and it is by far the best around. I would recommend the chefs special lemon chicken and the mixed tandoori starter. Staff are extremely friendly and the service is fantastic. We have booked already to go again this month. Would definately recommend to friends and family.

My family and I came here for a meal and the food was lovely and good atmosphere just a bit too noisy as couldn't here ourselves speak, apart from that the service was great and we all had a good night.

Normally great however we had a poor experience last night. We had a large table and whilst it is always a challenge to serve a large table the food came out Luke warm and service was at times poor. Staff were rushed off their feet however this translated into rudeness at times and no care and attention given to the customers. Disappointing as normally good.

I have visited Nirvana a few times and used them as a takeaway too. Every time it's great service whether I'm just popping in to collect or seated and enjoying the atmosphere with friends.There is an extensive menu and every dish I've have is well cooked, presented well and arrives promptly.I would highly recommend Nirvana to anyone after a tasty curry.
