The best restaurants serving Indian food in East Midlands

Visited on a Thursday night with my brother. We arrived approx 9.15pm and only one table eating. All staff sat down chatting so had to ask if they were still open and serving. We were seated and served drinks. Waiter popped over about 10 minutes later and said ‘have your ordered’. No hello, no how are you. Ordered our dishes which arrived quickly and the food was ok. The other table sat behind us left leaving only us in. The waiters then proceeded to get a vacuum out and started vacuuming around us while we were still eating. We felt rushed and were asked to move to a sofa when we finished our food as we were still enjoying our drinks. The owner or barman then said ‘we are closing, can you leave’!!!! All the lights were turned off around us so quickly finished our drinks and left. In hindsight we should have gone to Ayeshas or the Samad cottage as these restaurants value customers more than the Mint leaf who made us feel unwelcome and a bit of an inconvenience. Won’t be back.

Just but amazing food , 🥘 I have tried butter nut chicken and it was well spiced, just right. Lamb shashlick is also delicious Staff has positive and welcoming attitude Clean environment

We had the Chicken Korai and lamb mince bhuna. Both dishes were very bland in taste. All of felt uneasy with food preparation and sick. Won't be going there back for a while as this time the experience was not good 🙁

Terrible service Ordered takeaway via the telephone repeated 3 times what we wanted delivered:- 2x Chicken BYIRIANY 2 XONION BHAJI 2 xBOMBAY POTATOES 3X POPADOMS AND 1 KEEMA NAN. FOOD arrived LUKE WARM order was wrong no popadoms rung up to complain sent a man out that came to the door with a bottle of coke!! Told him to go back and tell them that I wasn't happy and then he came back again with some popadoms. We had guests so we plated the food up and had to heat up each individual plate up as it was cold. Costed it up via the Menu on the website and it should have been ££41.80 including delivery not what we were charged which was £49.25 (we paid cash). NO APOLOGY!

Much to like and enjoy - excellent sauces, fresh spices, attentive staff. Light, tasty Nan, sides and chicken. But the lamb - cooked to the consistency of leather, and a real pity given the excllence of everything else. I hope management reads this in the spirit it's written. We'll be back, and I hope that next time I'll be able to order the lamb with more confidence.

Not been to the cinnamons tree for a while was pleasantly surprised there’s new staff all may I say very pleasant and made you feel at home the food was excellent as was the service five star Can recommend the food first class

My family and I ordered a just eat take-out this evening from The Spice Lounge. Delivery was slightly delayed as we live a bit of a distance away but the food arrived piping hot and oh my days was absolutely delicious. Ordered a delivery £35 was the cost delivery driver turned up charged us £45 phoned to complain they didn't care won't be using these thrives ever again and I'd tell other people to stay well clear of them.

If you're visiting the area, it's a must-do place to go. The authentic 'Indian' menu offers a good range of traditional dishes plus many unique dishes. The portions are quite generous, and the value for money is second to none. Well worth a visit.

Went here with family and it was my first visit. The staff were very friendly and the place itself was very clean and hygienic. The food prices were very reasonable and would deffo go there again.

Always a pleasure to eat here. We normally go for peri peri chicken and Doner tray and naan. Great price too

Husband and i decided to treat ourselves to a meal out and thought try somewhere new. Long Buckby not far from us and after seeing good reviews for Voujon on TA, i booked a table. we had a lovely evening. Friendly service, excellent food and the restaurant has plenty of tables and nicely decorated we thanked the 2 gentleman there that evening for a great meal. 10/10 Voujon and we'll definitely be back!
