We ordered a takeaway which was delivered in the expected time. The delivery guy was friendly. We chose the prawn dopiaza, chicken and prawn bhoona, , prawn masala and the prawn patia. We had a selection of rice and naan. All the food was delicious all food warm . Everyone enjoyed their food. Would definitely order again. They are also a lnut free kitchen , which is great as my daughter has a nut allergy. Mango chutney was amazing.

Excellent food, tasty, moderately priced. Not licensed but allow BYO. However on our visit service was very slow, much too long. Not sure if that is a one off or recurring.

I recently dined at Balti King in Northampton and was thoroughly impressed. The cafe style ambiance and friendly, knowledgeable staff set the stage for an exceptional meal. The extensive menu offers a variety of delicious dishes. I started with the flavourful mixed platter and then enjoyed the signature chicken Balti naga, which was perfectly spiced and tender. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Rogan Josh were also outstanding. Portions were generous especially the table naan! Balti King is a must-visit for authentic Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. Highly recommended!

We were the only diners on a Monday evening but that was fine. The food was delicious as always and of course it was easy to get the waiter's attention 😄 The reasonable prices and relaxed feel make this our go to place for a spontaneous meal out. It also keeps the cost down that you can take your own drinks. There are good veggie options and it's nice to see dishes with a meat and veg mix, not just pieces of meat in a sauce. Still great after many, many years!

This place is an incredible restaurant with fantastic service!!! The wait staff were incredibly attentive and made sure to check up consistently and I had a fantastic time overall! I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who has a taste for Indian cuisine.

Beautiful fresh food with exceptional service yet again. The restaurant owner is a legend of Northampton, huge supporter of the general hospital, pro restaurateur for years and local councillor.

After confusion with the The the time everything was sorted with a phone call and they were true to their word and to be fair is one of the best not saying it is the best but it’s one of the best I’ve had in a long time

Cannot fault the place absolutely perfect we had a bit of a confusion with time but we we come away hopefully both happy someone out there, tell me a better place to eat with the service you receive

Terrible food ,cold mainly sauce no much else Items missing that I paid for. Refused refund ,rude staff Sent wrong item Charged for main and only received starter potions Staff very rude when they have clearly made a mistake told me I couldn't have refund when the food is here for them to see their mistakes Wouldn't recommend food from this takeaway as your be very disappointed and met with rude staff . Been passed from person to person for over a hour ,still not been given refund when originally told I'd be refunded Family dinner ruined Manager so rude kept ending the phone call and not resolving any issues, he didn't mind taking my money but didn't want to proceed with my refund

Terrible food looks better in pictures and tastes horrible like it’s been cooked hours prior and left to go bad Terrible customer service when a complaint is given and hangs up on customers who are unhappy with their food and just want what they ordered

2nd time ordering for delivery..... 2nd time let down. Have called 1hr 30 after ordering to find out where delivery is, to find that they are completely unaware of the order. Then the delivery comes with missing items and a family disappointed with the time and contents. Not what Balti King used to be. Will find somewhere else to order.

An enjoyable place to be! Service was relatively fast (and friendly) and the food was really good. Large portions for what we felt were reasonably cheap prices! It is a small venue, making it quite tight when sitting during busy times.

Great! We had poppadoms, a delicious spicy vegetable pathia and a hot lamb jalfrezi. The staff is nice. Pleasant experience! Ah, the best mango lassi!!!

Unfortunately the owner does not pay attention to the comfort and well being of people. He would do well to improve.

My friends came to see me on a Friday night once about 2 or 3 months a go, We ate there, service was really bad, took them a while to take our order, not too busy. To top it off, they gave the wrong order, then when the correct order came, it just didn't taste that great, that night when I went home, I had diaraea, my friends told me the same thing, it was embarrassing, there experiance in our town was horrendous. I don't understand how this place can stay open. I forgot about it until this restaurent came up on my local guide. Very disappointed, and so embarrassing.

Unfortunately the owner, who is also a councillor, has very suspect morals.

Waited an hour to order are food. A couple of the waiters didn’t really understand us when we asked to order. I saw them rush other people out after eating to free up a table. Once we had ordered we waited two hours for food. The table that came in after us and sat, where people were who were rushed out. Left after are mains come. Because they had waited an hour and half -two hours. Food was edible but not a lot of taste like you would expect. Wasn’t massive warm either. Won’t be returning in a rush. I don’t know if they were too busy or had a bad night but they didn’t even try to explain once what was going on or why they were struggling so much.

It was very bad man paid 90 pounds of food very little 9 something pounds for sihi kabab trash and wings it said grilled it was not grilled more like pan fried no seasoning awful

Can’t result the amazing food here! Great taste. Lovely portions. Great service. Really authentic and fresh. Still the best Indonesian restaurant I’ve ever visited by far. No messing with superfluous nonsense here, the food speaks for itself. A Northampton institution now for so many years, but still unique!

They do not serve alcohol this restaurant is in a residential area of the town. It was ok the food come out hot, the mixed was ok the mains come out in a serving bowl.

Update - May, 2023 It seems to me that this place is no longer the place it once was. ----- An excellent Indian restaurant; bring your own alcohol. My top tip is the thali. No frills, cafeteria type dining. As I say, I really rate this place.

I have been eating at Balti King for many years and always really impressed with the Balti dishes. The food is delicious and is well worth the price. You can take your own alcohol in with you which is great. Friendly staff and a joyful atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant!

We go to this restaurant quite regularly,last night was the worst ever!!!we were booked in for 7:30pm didn't receive our meals until gone 9:30pm on top of that a lot of mixes up with our orders!!! Also, some of us didn't receive what we asked for, and no apology from management very poor!!! Now our group is considering booking somewhere else in future!!!!

Ordered butter chicken and whatever I got was the spiciest dish I’ve ever had. Pointed it out to staff that it was obviously the wrong curry and they refused to acknowledge it let alone swap it. Not happy! Left very hungry!

Seeing mixed reviews we were curious to check the restaurant out ourselves First impression, atmosphere was extremely lacking, no decor, no music, place seems like it was a last minute set up type vibe - think it would vastly improve overall experience if they added some cultural decor and also just invested more in how they store cups etc. beyond the counter. Half the restaurant was also dark as the lights were turned off, definitely gave a derelict vibe Service was slightly indifferent at the start, already felt quite awkward with the lack of people/atmosphere - but the younger server was extremely polite, smiling and improved overall experience Food was generally okay, ordered the poppadoms (sauce plate which accompanies was lovely), chicken korma - sauce was split and lumpy, chicken madras - not hot enough, and chicken was tough and overcooked, paratha - good size but undercooked at the bottom due to thickness but seemed Homemade which is great and naan bread which was quite nice. Overall I'd try it, might suit some tastes which can't handle too much heat/spice.

We have been dining at Balti King for many years. The owners pride themselves in providing quality food and excellent service and our experience this weekend was no exception.

Service awful, Food was excellent when it finally arrived, booked a table for 18 for 2030 well in advance, didn't get seated until 2145, staff kept lying about how long we'd be waiting. Food was slow out and scattered. Some people had finished their mains before others even had starters. Mains arrived around 2230. Food was decent when it got there but not worth the hassle. No offer to knock any money off bill was shocking given the time waited and service.

When our order finally arrive….. 2 hrs after we ordered it, everyone was very disappointed. Bland and very watery sauces. Would not order from here again! Wish we’d waited for the Tamarind to open

Definitely not as good as it used to be. Long waits to take order and for food. Quality of food not as good either, real shame.

Really disappointed. This used to be our go to curry on a lads night out, but won’t be from now on We turned up on time. There were only 10 of us so not a massive group. Took nearly an hour to take our order. Then food took 1.5 hrs to arrive. Arrived piece meal. Very bland. Naan undercooked. Fish massively undercooked. I get that when busy things can slip but they have a chance to apologise and put things right No replacement. No discount. Didn’t wanna know and didn’t care at all

Literally the worst experience I've had here, or any curry house. At the table an hour and a half before food turned up, hair in one curry, fish undercooked, all very bland. Really disappointing as this used to be my place to go before the pubs. Hopefully just an off day but I won't be giving the Balti King another chance.

The food i had tonight was yummmmi chicken biriyani the rice was lovely n fluffy not overly salty like other indian takeaways in northampton!! The curry was superb chips are lovely too. The whole meal was delicious and the curry wasnt greasy with ghee. The best indian food ive had in northampton!!!

A brilliant Balti...and amazing value!

It says “Indian - Pakistani food” but honestly it has no authentic taste. Everything is way too sweet, and not even spicy at all. Biryani is so bland and tastes like fried rice and is not even properly cooked. Naans are also very sweet and taste like the processed ones from groceries store, not freshly made ones. If you are Pakistani or Indian or from Asia, I don’t think this restaurant suits you. I was so disappointed when I tried the first bite. I always eat at Al Fairoz but just wanted to try a new restaurant today but I would not come back next time. Anyway, the restaurant looks nice and you get hot towel and chocolate when you finish. Popadoms are good. If you can’t eat spicy then you can try.

Food was ok. Found odd that coke was from Russia, the ice-cream in the end was full of ice. The place is a popular place, be prepared for people shouting.

Amazing, I had the Lamb Balti Madras and it was incredible… being from Birmingham I am surrounded by high quality Balti restaurants but this is place is incredible glad I now work in Northampton and will be visiting again soon

Had a good time here last night. Food is relatively good. I have ordered Chicken Korma and for my taste is was too coconuty and sweet. However I have mixed it with another dish to add some spice to it. Naan bread was amazingly delicious

Good food very reasonable price

Ideal for large rowdy gatherings fuelled by bring your own booze. Not an ideal place for an early evening meal for two. Unfortunately we were the latter. Still the food is cheap, the service is quick and pleasant, and we beat a hasty retreat before some of the diners really got curried away!

Bring your own alcohol, but food is great, and prices are stupidly low! Love this place.

We have been going there for years sometimes the food is better than others.... Changing chef's I guess. We were so looking forward to a curry and then it arrived. the onion bhaji was the worst I have ever had a yellow dough no onions .... My wife had a Tika Masala, it was so strong with dessicated coconut it was like a pudding no spice it so so sweet was enedible! It was sent back and replaced with a chicken curry of some kind, the other curry's mine a Lamb Rogan josh and a chicken tika garlic korai all unrecognisable ! Very disappointed we will not go back we will miss the bring your own element.

I think the most fair review of the Balti King would be "you almost get what you expect". It is bring your own drinks and the food is incredibly cheap; so it seems unfair to expect anything too grand. The food is fairly standard and the service is lacklustre, but that seems about fair given the price tag. However, when we went, our order was mixed up and one dish was missing, meaning one of us had to wait while everyone else ate. When the dish came out it was still the wrong meat in the wrong sauce (about as wrong as you can get a curry). It seemed obvious they just brought out what had been ordered at another table and tried to pass it off as the right dish as it looked very nondescript; however, we'd stopped caring by that point, so just accepted it. On the plus side, you can get a two course meal and sides for about £15.

Always a good vibe at this restaurant with their bring your own beer policy always adds a different element to dining as all you really need to decide on is what your going to eat there. Typical soft drinks are available. Would recommend the table naan

It would be a 5 but the second of three visits was watery and poor quality. But this was a one off as the other 2 visits were great. We've had a couple of takeways as well and they were superb

I've placed three delivery orders now; two of which have been rejected, despite being within their opening hours and delivery radius. No problem if you don't want our business, but please make this apparent before we spend half an hour organising our order, selecting dishes, etc. only for it to be refused as we don't appear to be valued, or our money good enough for you

Spent £70 for dinner of 4 of us, ordered over the phone and was told i can collect in 35 mins, we turned up on time to collect and was waiting another 45 minutes! After already horrible experience when we unpacked the food at home we had wrong items, different type of rice and nan breads, the mix grill for £25 was disgusting! Meat chewy tasteless and cold! Avoid this place, used to be nice place and this wasn’t our first visit however it certainly was our last....
