The best restaurants serving French food in York Yorkshire and The Humber

Highly recommend. The food was delicious and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I shall return as the meal was excellent value.

Lovely place , lots of options including a fair few vegan and vegetarian ones too. We had the 2 small plates and a side offer which was great value. Food was delicious and service friendly and informative. Fully recommend.

Great food and service. We came with friends from Australia and they were touring the UK. According to them it was their best meal. The duck leg with dauphinoise potatoes is outstanding. Staff keen to help with my dislike of very bright lights so found us a suitable table.

It was recommended and it was ace! The best french onion soup I've had and the pan fried duck with cherry sauce was delicious. My partner had the tiger prawns which come shelled and salmon which came in a ratatouille. Very efficient service and friendly staff.

Dessert was lovely, as was the mocha. Board games are really fun to play whilst waiting or eating. Staff are amazing, they kindly let us order just as they were closing and let us eat in! Definitely recommend.

Nos adentramos en el Ivy sin saber nada sobre él, pero parecía atractivo desde el exterior y hacía frío y lluvia y un clima horrible - día sabio. Qué gratamente sorprendidos estábamos. Parecía mocoso y congestionado, pero no lo era. Hermoso ambiente y la comida era deliciosa. Mi amigo tenía el Menú 1917 de entrada y principal: Salmón Rillette con aguacate, ensalada y pan de centeno y principal de Pastel de Pastores. Comí un entrante de vieiras asadas con crema de espinacas y bocanadas de patata. El costo: no más de lo que habría pagado en un café del barrio. ¡Y el baño de damas de color rosa es hermoso!

Tuvimos un tiempo fabuloso en el Rustique. Todo fue excepcional. . . . el servicio, la comida, el ambiente. Lo recomendaría encarecidamente y es necesario asegurarse de reservar con mucha antelación, ya que siempre están llenos.

Decided to try this place after reading all the good reviews. 3 out of the four meals were decent enough but the fourth was really bland. But it was the lack of service that really stood out. We had 4 different waiters who served our table and not one of them really engaged with us apart from serving the food. Nobody asked how the food was or even just any general conversation like 'were we on holiday? That was the biggest disappointment for us especially when at the end they asked if we wanted to tip? Maybe this is just how big city resturants are? Wouldn't really go back if in York again.

Really nice lunchtime meal. We had the 2 course set meal of which I had the steak tartare followed by the belly pork. Both really nicely prepared together with a bottle of wine. It is also well catered for for children with the kids meals going down well.

Pasaba por aquí, así que mi amigo y yo paramos a tomar crepes. Pedí el ‘especial’ - una crepé de galleta - £ 4. 50 Mientras ella tomaba canela y crepe de azúcar El servicio era muy rápido y decente precio, el único problema era que mi crepé sabía un poco de lavado líquido. Pudo haber sido el embalaje utilizado para el crepé, o la limpieza de la sartén, ¡Por lo demás agradable!

Entramos y nos sentamos en el patio cubierto ya que había comenzado a llover. Todo el lugar parecía muy tranquilo para unas vacaciones bancarias con probablemente solo otra mesa en el patio ocupado. Nos sentamos y echamos un vistazo al menú, luego esperamos y observamos como 3 camareras charlaban en el bar, finalmente una salió y nos reconoció y tomó la orden. El servicio era muy muy lento, la comida era realmente buena que teníamos. La decepción para nosotros fue el servicio lento y los condimentos en uno utilizan bolsitas de plástico.

Super expensive, hardly any choice, rude staff. No ice with drinks, a mug of tea , no saucers? Not a good experience in my opinion.

One of my favourite pubs in York. Excellent choice of beers. Am yet to sample the food but it sounds great.
