The best restaurants serving French food in South West

Fantastic evening with terrific food once again. The scallops were delicious and the Bouillabaisse so tasty. My husband had Mussels and Salmon tartare which were also Devine! My favourite restaurant lives up to expectations. Nothing is ever too much for this couple. I would highly recommend.

Jim Cairney I salute you ! What a fantastic ,relaxed , fun , eating experience. The food speaks for itself , absolutely excellent, delivered in an easy unpretentious manner. Jim, the chef /owner is full of anecdotes & quickly builds a wonderful rapport with his diners , ensuring that all have a fun time. He effortlessly switches from creating divine dishes in his kitchen, to entertaining front of house ….. a master indeed. Don't watch the clock , don’t expect airs & graces , do relax & enjoy his unique eating environment , then you will be assured a great dining experience.

The comté cheese souffle is to die for. However, the service is poor. The servers are just walking around not noticing anything. The mains are a hit and miss. The risotto was okay, could make better at home. I'd come back for the souffle but that's all. Not worth the price.

Was on my own and was made very welcome. Have eaten with friends in PCC before and the food is always cooked to perfection. Had duck as the main course and it was delicious.

Came for my 49th birthday with my wife. Waiter was kind but got confused with our order. Mocktails were delicious. Menu reasonably priced. I ordered pigeon breast with polenta starter, and my wife ordered scallops. Neither were cooked properly, unfortunately I swallowed some raw bloody meat before realising. I felt sick within 5 minutes. We sent both dishes back, and I was so ill that we left before the main courses arrived. The manager came and fussed over us, and I saw another waiter's face when they saw what we'd been served, but it was too late. My birthday was ruined and I had severe nausea all evening. They didn't attempt to ask for payment. I leave this review not to warn you off, but to ensure the restaurant improves it's practices. It looked like we missed out on a lovely meal, and even good places get it wrong sometimes.

As always, at excellent evening at The White Horse. Extremely friendly welcome, first class service and the most scrummy food . Thank you. We will be back.

Went here with my daughter for lunch and really enjoyed it, Stephanie the owner is French and has a great interest in food, she is a trained chef but doesn't do all the cooking as she has a bad arm, she follows all the great chefs and has a real passion for quality in eating. Our meal was lovely, not fussy dining where you get huge plate with a wispy bit of food in the middle but hearty, warm, tasteful food with the ingredients well chosen. Stephanie is very welcoming too, its now my fave eating place in Cheltenham.

On arrival I was greeted at the bar and seated quickly , I asked for a different table, as wanted to be seated near to the singer, they moved us to a closer table with a smile. The food and drinks order was taken and delivered quickly . We were delighted with the food , I had veggie roast and my 24 year old son had the Beef . OH MY GOODNESS Food coma !! so delicious, we forced ourselves to have a creme Brûlée for pudding which was the best I have ever had !! We had two coffees and then left . We will be back , so friendly so delicious , Thankyou

Great food, great service, great wine. If they have the duck and mushroom croquette on the menu then don't hesitate!

We had a lovely weekend staying over, our room was lovely and all the staff were so friendly. Spent a good few hours in the lounge enjoying cocktails and chatting, we’ll definitely be returning.

The service was exceptional 👌🏼 Our server was attentive, yet not intrusive at all. The whole team worked together to provide a flawless eating experience. The food was absolutely delicious! Especially the salmon tartare, my favourite! Thank you from the bottom of my heart🙏🏼 Everything we had was absolutely delicious and made very very well! Cozy ambience, excellent service! Ordered monkfish medallions and Giant tiger prawn as main course, which I loved every bite of it. They have pretty good vegetarian options too. For the desert we ordered chocolate sphere, a must try for chocolate lovers. Overall one of the best restaurant at Poole!

What a lovely little place! If there are more stars definitely would give more! We were on our way when phoned and were told better to book a table.
