Whenever I'm down in Devon i always make sure i go to Le Petit Monde. Flo the chef makes an incredible variety of food, which is beautifully presented and tastes delicious. The front of house Lydia is a delight too, and always makes our evening. I couldn't recommend Le Petit Monde more

At last we got a table in this wonderful little restaurant and it was worth the wait, excellent food, service, ambiance a gem in the heart of Bideford

Great Bistro. Has a great Parisian feel to it. The food is amazing, had scallops and crab nachos to start, steak and Sole for mains all just perfect. Good wine list and all reasonably priced. Great hostess and great chef. Really recommended.

We had a fantastic evening at Le Petit Monde. The food was great - mainly seafood but other options were available. We had two oysters each, then split two small plates and a big plate between us. There was a good wine list, our wine was delicious. The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere and you’re not too crammed in. The chef owner and his partner were lovely too. I would definitely recommend visiting if you’re in Bideford. Merci beaucoup!

We visited Le Petit Monde to celebrate our anniversary, whilst holidaying in Bideford. The host, Lydia, was fantastic and very welcoming, and we felt relaxed and able to completely enjoy the evening. Our son was even given the chance to bruleé the creme for dessert. The food was excellent, and every dish was cooked to perfection, with varying tastes in starters, mains & desserts, and we left very happy and with full bellies. We would definitely visit again if in Bideford in the future.

A magnificent spread: fresh oysters, delicious wine, succulent scallops and steak to kill for. Service to match the menu and the warmest of welcomes. Will come again.

If ever a statement was correct, a hidden gem is in this case. A lovely rustic restaurant serving superb food cooked freshly with such care. I’ve been fortunate enough to eat in some of the best restaurants in the UK and I would put this up against any of them for food, service and ambience. The delightful Lydia served us with great humour, knowledge and best of all total confidence in what they were providing. Starter for me was the humous with slow cooked harissa lamb shoulder. Beautifully presented. As for the bouillabaisse, sublime. We’ll be back every time we’re down

One of the best restaurants i and my girlfriend have ever been to! The environment was incredibly inviting and the service felt very personal, It had beautiful decor, the food was absolutely delicious and you could see that the place was full of passion. We were served by Lydia who was fantastic and very approachable, we can’t wait to go back. And not to mention, they even had deodorant and moisturisers in the toilets. We encourage anyone in the area to give it a try!

Perfect evening for delicious food with great service too. I recommend the crab nachos and bouillabaisse! Nowhere else in the area does food like this!

Whilst holidaying in Westward Ho we decided to book a Birthday meal at Le Petit Monde, having read excellent reviews. I am pleased to say we were not disappointed - the service is wonderful (hats off to Lydia & Florian)! The quality of the food is exceptional - we had oysters and bone marrow to start, followed by a pre-ordered lobster to share, which was just superb. Lydia was able to source the lobster with just a day's notice and Florian had prepared it in such a way that we didn't have to stress over using lobster utensils. A charming restaurant that is definitely worth a visit. If we didn't live so far away we'd be dining here every week. To our surprise Le Petit Monde is also dog friendly, so next time we'll bring the Dachshund.

A taste of France in Bideford, this restaurant is a gem. Outstanding food, the best fish soup I have ever had, great menu that changes frequently, fabulous service and really good value for money.

A hidden gem in a quite preposesing area, well worth a visit. The ambience reminds me of French village restaurants, with a friendly feel and a slight hubbub of happy conversations. The food was immaculate, and the service was impeccable.

Another fabulous meal this time to celebrate our Anniversary. We both had the Crab starter followed by Monk Fish & Scallops main course. Both dishes were delicious. Nice little restaurant with great food, a nice atmosphere and brilliant service. Predominantly seafood (which my wife loves) but also options for a non seafood eater (like me).

Wonderful evening with Lydia and Florian. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. Lydia was very friendly and amusing. The food, wine and service was everything everyone writes about and more. The locals of Bideford are very fortunate, and should be proud, to have such a great restaurant on their doorstep. X

We came for a Birthday lunch and booked in advance. We were the only customers and they'd opened specially for us. Simple décor but great food and atmosphere. We were given a warm welcome by both the patrons and their cat (always a good sign!), were not rushed but not left waiting either. Highly recommend the cuttlefish stew starter and monkfish main, both of which were well presented and extremely tasty. Unfortunately, we had to leave earlier than we'd have liked but need to stress this was in no way the fault of the food or staff. I look forward to returning one day and being able to take a little longer to enjoy this little gem of a restaurant.

This is a hidden gem. A tiny frontage h8des an incredible food experience. A seasonal menu that changes with the availability of the local produce. I thoroughly enjoyed each plate. 100% recommended

My wife and I have been visiting this excellent family run restaurant for four years and so we asked the owners Lydia and Florian to prepare a special lunch for our four grown-up children and their partners (and our grandson Freddie) to celebrate our 60th birthdays. We gave Lydia and Florian an overall budget and let them come up with a menu based on some of the fantastic dishes they had served us over the years but with plenty of latitude for using fresh and available produce using Florian’s creative flare. The result was undoubtedly one of the best lunches any of us had eaten in a very long time; John Dory, Red Gurnard, warm goats cheese, braai chicken, beurre crevettes, seafood risotto, mussels gratin all featured in the tapas style courses that Lydia brought out from Florian’s kitchen. Finished off with chocolate mousse and crème brûlées all washed down with some excellent wines. Lydia and Florian take a bow - thank you so much. See you soon!

We had the very best of meals last night at Le Petit Monde. The restaurant is unassuming and Lydia was an excellent hostess. The food - well it was absolutely fabulous! Florian produced beautiful flavours cooked with such an understanding of the art. We were orally enraptured! We are hoping to get back to Bideford one day to repeat the experience.

The six of us had a fantastic evening at Le Petit Monde. We arrived early and were immediately made very welcome and comfortable by our host. The menu is simple and mostly local seafood. It was delicious, nicely prepared and beautifully cooked. The chef came out to chat with us at the end, a very friendly couple. We wish them every success.

Wonderful relaxed evening with fantastic food. To start a delicious Goats Cheese for me and a tasty Cuttlefish dish for my husband. For mains neither of us could resist the Monkfish served with Scallops. A shared Crème Brulee and shared Cheese Platter to finish. The service from Lydia was friendly, warm and attentive and Florian was in and out of the kitchen to check on us all as his evening allowed. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food on offer. Thank you, we can't wait to go back when we are in the area again!

Absolutely will be returning to this gem of a French restaurant. We received a warm friendly welcome from the hosts. The sea food was excellent, all freshly cooked and extremely tasty. The creme brulee was one of the best we have had and we have tried many.

My partner and I visited tonight having seen a lovely menu whilst looking for places to eat. We were very warmly welcomed by both Lydia and Florian. The ambiance is very special in the restaurant, warm and relaxing. The food was superb, cooked to perfection and throughout the evening, we were very well looked after and at no point felt rushed. We will definitely return when we are back in Devon. Thank you for a lovely evening Lydia and Florian, keep doing what you are doing because you do it so well.

Had the loveliest evening here with my fiancé during our holiday visit to Bideford, after a silly mix up with our booking (my fiancé booking for 5:30 when they don’t open till 6) Lydia was extremely sweet on the phone and helped us to sort it all out . We arrived to a very warm welcome with a free appetiser of fish soup which was lush, given plenty of time to choose our food and drinks, complementary table water and a bowl for the dog. We ordered steak with extra prawns which was unfaultable, cooked to perfection with a lovely salad and the blue cheese sauce was to die for 😍🤤. Rioca wine was delicious perfect , ambiance was calm, friendly and romantic just what we needed . Great prices for such a lovely fresh and well seasoned meal . Will definitely visit again . Was lovely to see Florian the chef as well who came to check our food was good 👍🏻. What a gorgeous place. Ran by a delightful couple who provided a lovely warm service. The food is all amazing and it was no surprise to hear a rich French accent when the chef came out. We had a selection of plates. Great wine options and I had a little after dinner brandy! Very intimate tastefully decorated place. Thank you!

Our first visit will not be our last.

This is an absolute gem of a restaurant run by french chef Florian and his wife. The small but exciting menu is conceived by Florian according to what is available at the market. I was really tempted to try cuttlefish for the first time. Served in a delicious tomato sauce with a hunk of garlic bread, it was a succulent and delicious starter. Our mains were great too and when we delighted over the really tasty sauce that went with our monkfish and scallop brochettes, Florian came out of his kitchen with the pan to offer us more. Service is relaxed and there's no rush to turn tables, we spent three hours over our dinner and enjoyed every minute, my delicious creme brulée was sublime. We will certainly return.

Absolutely amazing food! Every dish we tried was fantastic. Some of the best food we have tasted and good value for money. Very nice husband and wife team and nothing was too much trouble. Good wine selection and also zero alcohol beer. Very nice rustic restaurant. Great menu which changes daily . Very attentive and welcoming. Good sized portions. I asked for extra sauce for my monk fish which was so good i wanted more. The chef made it from scratch and brought it sizing in the pan!. The chef also separately came out and spoke to us which was lovely given it was a busy Saturday night. There is no service charge added to bill. Given how routinely restaurants add 12.5 % (increasingly now 13.5%) which we never know where it goes to and in this case given the quality of the service and you have to think its going to a small team, people should think about adding this to your bill. Would definitely recommend this place and Le Petite Monde will be first on our list when we next come back to Bideford.

Went in July with a group for a 40th WA. It was excellent. I had fish which was really nice. Quite simple without too many flavours all trying to grab one's attention. The couple running the place were very amiable and seemed to know what a good meal and good service looks like. Exceptionally good evening was had by all. Thanks.

This place is fantastic! Some of the best food I have ever had. We had frog legs, scallops, moules-frites and a seafood risotto and it was all divine. The restaurant is very cute and the service is great! If you are in the area, I cannot recommend it enough.

A Fantastic little bistro tucked away in a side street , one of the best meals I have had for years , offering a fantastic selection of fish and seafood cooked with flare and passion, good service matched with a lovely atmosphere

What a fantastic little spot! Adorable interior and incredible food! I love a place that has a small menu and each dish is done well. We loved the gambas starter so much that we ordered extra for with the main dish. Sole and risotto both were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Desserts, chocolate mouse and crème brûlée, were the cherry on top! Simple but oh sooooo good! You could tell the place was run with love and kindness - a couple, two genuine people running the place. Must visit ! (also I normally find restaurants for dinner on the Michelin guide app, how is this place not on there?! Should be on the top of your list).

Lovely meal here whilst visiting Bideford. We chose a starter each, scallops and mackerel, and then the fresh seafood for 2 with a few sides. I couldn't recommend this little piece of heaven enough. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Most enjoyable.....seemless service paired with well executed dishes using top quality ingredients. Had hogget for main, which was melt in the mouth. My wife had Dover sole. Three courses each and a drink for less than £90. Would highly recommend

This restaurant was sooo good we cancelled reservations elsewhere so we could return! Authentic French cuisine, beautifully prepared with an emphasis on simple, local, fresh seafood. Delicious and memorable…particularly the seafood platter, mussels, crab, prawns, scallops, oysters and, least of all, the best crème brûlée I’ve ever had. Couldn’t recommend it more highly.

My partner and I decided on Le Petit Monde last minute and couldn’t have been happier with our evening. Lydia handled the front of house effortlessly leaving every table delighted and even booking their next visit there and then, whilst Florian’s passion and joy in the kitchen translated beautifully into an exquisite meal with no detail spared. We’d recommend the tuna starter, the crab special, aptly named for a truly memorable dish and the crème brûlée but honestly could go back 10 more times to sample everything! Thank you both for an amazing evening, this place is a no-brainer for food lovers local or not to Bideford.

We fell on this superb little place by chance after a long journey to North Devon . The food was superb and well presented . The service was excellent and friendly . I would say ‘ A Little Gem’ well worth a visit . We met some really lovely people whilst we were there and had such a lovely evening. Went here February 14th with my partner. He has been non stop going on about not being able to find somewhere to get fresh oysters. While we were on holiday in Devon, I google the best place to find fresh seafood for him. Well, what a fantastic place I found!! The welcome we received was absolutely amazing, couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Her husband, the chief came out to meet us aswell, they were both attentive and constantly made sure we were ok, and we were happy. I don't personally like fish, so chose the chicken skewers for starters, and steak for my main course, which I have to say, that steak and sauce was the best I've ever had! Cooked to perfection, just melted in my mouth..my partner couldn't decide what starter to have, so orders all of them as a main course. But stayed away from the snails 🐌 ( x 2 on the oysters though, he loved them) . I would like to wish them the best of luck , such a lovely couple. Can't wait to go back, we would be there eating all the time if we lived closer .

This restaurant has a lovely intimate atmosphere. High quality and good value. We go here each time we visit Bideford and have never been disappointed. This time we had another first class meal - the fruits de mer was perfectly judged; and the whole roasted gurnard not only looked spectacular but tasted as good as it looked!. Florian is a superb and imaginative chef, and Lydia runs front of house in a knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic way.

I took my family here last night for a meal. On arrival we were made very welcome. The atmosphere and service are second to none . Every course looked and tasted amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a relaxing night with exceptional food.
