We had not been to Petit Social for a while. We had a less than great experience before and when there are so many great restaurants around we didn't feel the need to go back. However, we decided to give it another go and we are very glad we did. The service is informal but attentive and we were made to feel very welcome. The wine list is short but that's a food thing and there were some great wines on there. We went for the steak, it was steak night after all, and it was perfectly done. We will be back!

Third visit and still very good. Concise but varied menu. Lunch set menu good value although the £5 wedge of soggy cabbage side not so much. Overall very well presented food with professional wait staff. Part of the local JM Socials group. Definitely worth a visit!

We were intrigued to try this new restaurant for lunch. Setting is quirky with a nice atmosphere. We tried the lunch menu. The amuse bouches are extra and quite pricey. The black pudding croquettes were absolutely delicious but only 2 small ones for £4.50. The prices are written for example as 4.5, I’m not sure why this is necessary. Starters of chicken liver parfait and tomato soup to follow. Chicken liver parfait was excellent and clearly home made. Tomato soup was minuscule but not unpleasant. We both had cod fish with ratatouille for main. This came with string fries. Personally I’m not a fan of string fries, and they didn’t taste great. I would have preferred normal fries or even just potato. The cod was quite nice, although not as good as cod loin I had cooked at home a few days previously which was chunky and pure white. Again the portion was a bit small. I think if this restaurant is aiming for French bistrot style the portions need to be a bit more generous otherwise prices can seem a bit high. We shared a lemon tart for dessert which was disappointing. The pastry was not all butter and had that soggy industrial taste. The lemon filling was not tart enough and the meringue on top too sweet. I don’t believe the dessert was home made. Then again a lot of restaurants seem to be buying desserts in. Fine in France where the quality is high. Not so much in the U.K. The service was good and we would go again but I think there needs to be a little fine tuning. I would be interested to try Sunday lunch as hard to find a decent one in Cheltenham. They should introduce a fixed price menu for Sunday perhaps.

Lovely evening at the Petit Social. Five of us went for dinner and we all enjoyed every aspect of the meal - from the cocktails (fab margaritas), to the Padron peppers, the oysters (super fresh), the Ox Cheek with choucroute, stone bass with curry sauce and the steak frites. All were excellent! Deserts were euqally delicious. The service is very efficient and staff extremely nice. Given the quality of the food, I was surprised that the restaurant was not full!

We enjoyed a really lovely evening as a table of 6 on a Friday night. Service was very good, personable and very attentive. There were some really lovely options to pick from on the menu, delicious French classics and some interesting additions. The options appear to be based on whats available in season which I always value. Not a cheap place to go for dinner but the service and quality is well matched to the price. We would definitely go back.

First time visit on Friday evening - it was really enjoyable, the service was spot on - really friendly from the moment walked in, helped talk through some of the dishes on the menu and we never felt rushed. Steak frites was superb, and the raspberry mille-feuille (which I'd eyed up before visiting on their instagram page) were both great. It's great to have a neighbourhood french restaurant of such quality and I'm really looking forward to returning soon.

Overpriced, average wine Poor food, can't even render off the fat in a steak properly. Shop bought chips along with bought in bread and paté- come on, I can do a lot better than this at home!!! Complained to the manager was just told plainly and abruptly; 'thankyou for your feedback', what a joke! Complete rip off.

We visited Petit Social a few weeks ago when they offered 50% off food. The venue is small but looks great. The food was amazing and so were the drinks. I would strongly recommend this restaurant. We did have a bit of a quarrel with regards to the bill. The email stated 50% off all food. So we decided to try and caviar. Then realised we got charged full price on the bill. They then said it was excluded. So we agreed to pay. The next day we Petit Social sent out an updated 50% off email saying caviar wasn't included! A minor issue but we were overall very happy with our visit and will be returning.

Superb food. Escargots to start which were delicious followed by roast cod sitting on new potatoes with a sauce of moules, cream and white wine. It was perfectly cooked and a magnificent main course. The pudding was a raspberry crème brûlée with shortbread. A glorious way to end the meal. This is a very fine restaurant which is friendly, relaxed and serving marvellous food.

Tried the fish and chicken breast. I would really recommend the fish, it is very tasty but the portion is a little small and the potato will be better if they had cooked it a little longer. Chocolate mousse is not bad but not my personal favourite. I love the lemon tart better.

Amazing find on Suffolk Road, next to Bhoomi, a French bistro with affordable glorious food. We had a Vichyssoise soup and a delightful crab and avocado mousse for starters, with two lots of superb crusty bread and a healthy helping of whipped butter. The chicken which followed was so tender and the fish of the day, which my husband had (hake) was cooked to perfection. To finish we tried the crème brûlée and the lemon tart, both exemplary. We didn’t mean to have pudding but were enjoying the whole thing so much that it seemed a shame not to. Three Cotswold gins, a glass of Picpoul de Pinet and two coffees later, we pronounced ourselves well happy. George, the manager, was lovely: attentive without being intrusive, and the cutlery was Robert Welch. You know quality when you see it. Give it a go!

Went here with my daughter for lunch and really enjoyed it, Stephanie the owner is French and has a great interest in food, she is a trained chef but doesn't do all the cooking as she has a bad arm, she follows all the great chefs and has a real passion for quality in eating. Our meal was lovely, not fussy dining where you get huge plate with a wispy bit of food in the middle but hearty, warm, tasteful food with the ingredients well chosen. Stephanie is very welcoming too, its now my fave eating place in Cheltenham.

The comté cheese souffle is to die for. However, the service is poor. The servers are just walking around not noticing anything. The mains are a hit and miss. The risotto was okay, could make better at home. I'd come back for the souffle but that's all. Not worth the price.
