The best restaurants serving French food in South East

I visited Bangkok Brasserie in Burgess Hill and clearly told the waitress that I was vegan. She assured me she’d check with the chef to make sure my food was suitable. After a 45-minute wait, the dish arrived—but something didn’t look right. I asked again, and she confirmed it was vegan. I took one bite and it was obviously egg. Only then did the waitress realise the mistake, saying the chef didn’t speak much English. That’s not an excuse—especially when dietary requirements are involved. They offered 15% off after I explained that if I’d had an allergy, this could have been dangerous. The manager responded by saying he had a health certificate and that “you couldn’t be,” which was both dismissive and incorrect. When I pointed this out, I got a very half-hearted apology. This experience left me feeling deeply uncomfortable. I won’t be going back.

Had a lovely evening. Had the 5 course meal which was extremely tasty. Every dish was presented beautifully n tasted different . Hannah served us with a smile n that made a big added plus . Will highly recommend

Not the prettiest from the outside, but come inside and you’ll discover a great choice of food and huge portions. Friendly staff, and it’s also dog friendly.

We’ve been 3 times recently. Our first time was great and so I wanted to return with my friends who were visiting a few days later. I have to say the subsequent visits were disappointing on service which is why I only gave a 4. We were rushed through being told that the kitchen want to close (both times) ; the specials had to be asked for and we had to ask about the set menu at lunchtime thinking you had to make a special booking. Turns out no special booking required but maybe you did need to get there sooner ? 🤷‍♂️. I had hoped this was a blip but my most recent visit left us feeling rushed through again. It says on the website kitchen orders until 9 so having arrived early for an 8.30 last minute booking, we figured we’d be ok. Turns out the rush was on. Needless to say this did impede our experience.

We regularly frequent Maya. Lovely pastries, delicious sourdough sandwiches and the best coffee in Weybridge. Strongly recommend.

We had a great meal, the best one we’ve had here so far. There were lots of seafood dishes on the specials board, today, which hit the spot for us! The crab linguine with chilli and samphire was creamy and full of crab. The mussels were in a lovely sauce too. We were too full for dessert, but they looked great on other tables. The coffee was amazing. Our servers were charming and attentive, keen to make sure we enjoyed our meal. We’d intended to try out the new restaurant at the top of the street, and were a bit disappointed to find we should have booked. However, we were really lucky to be able to squeeze in at La Maison. We really recommend it.

L'Ortolan was formerly a really fabulous place in a lovely setting. Sadly it is now closed and will probably be sold. On our last few visits it was looking very tired and in need of some investment and maintenance work on the building and decor. Very sadly the whole experience has gradually gone down hill, the food was still pretty good, some of the staff were excellent but the real attention to detail and the feeling of being exquisitely looked after had gone. It's obviously been fading away slowly over the years but we have some very happy memories of it in the past. Sad to see it go.

We popped in here for a crepe and coffee last Friday 9th May absolutely delicious! Lovely atmosphere and the staff were super friendly and brilliant service my 14 year old son and 80 year old mum loved it- we will be back when we next visit Brighton!

Amazing drinks! Amazing food! Staff were very understanding and knowledgeable about allergens. Which is always reassuring as someone with a gluten allergy (coeliac). Would absolutely recommend!

Lovely place . If we had any issues they were quickly rectified.

Almorzamos que a pesar de no estar demasiado ocupados fue muy lento todo el almuerzo pareció tardar una eternidad. La comida no era tan mala, pero no era genial para el precio. Tuvimos el menú de almuerzo establecido y actualicé mi bistec al Sirloin Steak Deluxe con papas fritas triples cocinadas. En mi opinión parecían patatas fritas de horno. Sorpréndete mucho si estuvieran triplemente cocinados.

All 3 of their restaurants seem to be closed, have phoned all 3, - cannot get an answer - No recorded message - Nothing on the website explaining what the problem is or when they are re opening - Very poor - Shame as the food is great - But come on guys - Don't leave your customers in the dark - Very poor customer relations

Parece que va cuesta abajo rápido. El personal parecía no importarle, promedio de comida, menú muy limitado. Qué lástima por lo que solía ser un restaurante vibrante y agradable. Ahora puedo decir por qué parece estar vacío la mayor parte del tiempo.
