Review of the spa- love this, it is our go to for massages (always lovely here) and the half spa day. Great as it's super quiet during the week, you often have the whole spa to yourselves or only sharing with 2 or 3 others. And highly recommend asking for Bliss for the back, neck and shoulder massage - super relaxing, thanks!

The spa is phenomenal. Intimate, cosy and has a very impressive treatment list that actually makes you quiver for more. Jenny is a superb therapist who is always smiling but very knowledgable about the wide range of treatments and actually will help you find the perfect one for you or tweak one you’ve booked for your needs. The standards never droop and the reception girls are fast at relying to any email and are so sweet and friendly. The products are inspired from the world over and really feel like the real deal and the smells and sensations linger with you. They really understand the body and skin at this spa and are worth very penny. They stand out from other ones and I can’t explain why they just do. Your body will thank you!

An outstanding meal at The Tasting Room at The Vineyard. Probably the best meal we've had here in over 20 years of coming (and there have been some very memorable ones). We started with cocktails - mine the Bakewell Sour, my husband's choice the plum martini. Then we launched into our culinary adventure. The chef brilliantly accommodated my preference for no mushrooms, truffle and hazelnut whilst not denying my husband's love of each! The little snacks to start were not only beautiful and delicious, but delivered by the chef with the stories that inspired them - a lovely touch - and no, we couldn't agree which our favourite was... as was the case for the rest of the menu really! Highlights definitely included the pea tartlet and the sea bream on tomato sauce and basil oil with accompanying cerviche and also the beef and onion course. And the chocolate dessert with raspberry cork... Oh and the hot and cold cheese course. In fact we loved it all and can't wait to come back. A big thank you to the enthusiastic and friendly waiting staff too.

The Vineyard Restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience, blending fine cuisine with stunning views, warm hospitality, and an impressive wine selection. Located amidst picturesque surroundings, it provides a serene atmosphere perfect for a special day out. The restaurant’s ambiance is both elegant and relaxed, making it ideal for intimate dinners or gatherings with friends. One of the standout features is the expertly curated wine pairings. Each dish is accompanied by a wine that perfectly complements the flavors, making it a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or simply enjoy a good glass of wine, the pairing enhances every bite and takes your meal to the next level. We started with two delectable mains: the Lamb Kofta and Fine Herb Gnocchi. The lamb was tender, perfectly spiced, and paired with a robust red wine that deepened the flavors. The Gnocchi, on the other hand, was light, delicate, and bursting with freshness, beautifully matched with a crisp white wine. The combination of fresh ingredients and well-thought-out pairings truly makes every dish memorable. To finish, we indulged in the Raspberry and Lemon Panna Cotta, which was a delightful end to the meal. The tangy lemon and sweet raspberry created a refreshing balance, leaving us feeling satisfied but not overly full. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made us feel 'looked after'.

Very conveniently located, just off the M4 but a lovely location. We arrived on a sunny afternoon and had lunch in the garden and very good it was too, so we were looking forward to our dinner later. We were there for an anniversary dinner and stay overnight. Our room was large and the bathroom very marble! (Disappointed that we had an overbath shower - think the bathrooms need updating a little - especially when you consider the room rates). We had booked the Tasting Menu and overnight stay with breakfast package. The dinner was amazing. They now have a Tasting Room Restaurant and you get a menu with your name on it when you arrive for dinner - how fab is that! We started with some "snacks" delivered by the Head Chef - very inventive and much more than "snacks", followed by a pea tart, a fish dish, fillet steak (which was incredible), a pre dessert and then a selection of raspberry and chocolate dishes. We will certainly consider staying for our anniversary next year!

Lovely setting, beautiful artwork on the walls, good service and really good wine, with excellent advice from the sommelier to help us pair it with our menu choices. Could have been a 5 star review….. But the food brings it down to only just a 4. Why would you serve a (very tasty) Crab Thermidor, costing £38, with a pot of bog-standard chips? You can order side mashed potatoes but that too is just a pot of bog-standard mash. The ‘Berkshire Pork “en croute” was a cold slice of pork pie, with barely an apricot in sight and which overwhelmed the radishes. There’s insufficient thought about presentation and attention to detail in a meal for two of us that cost well over £200.

I happen to be attending a wedding in Reading over the weekend of the 17th May and was advised by the coupled to book The Vineyard. The most appropriate word befitting of my stay while somewhat of an exaggeration can only be described as criminal. The gap between the price point and the customer service was farcical. The Vineyard’s quality in so far as venues goes is irrefutable. However, upon arriving to check in I received a welcome that was about as warm as the Antarctica. I was then shown to my room. No explanation regarding the services on offer other than a disengaged there’s the Spa area enroute to my room. As for my room it was so far removed from the front of house, I got the impression that I was being hid from view. I’d hate to think this had anything to do with the fact that I happen to be a black male. I’d give them the benefit of doubt. Perhaps they were fully booked, and it was relatively late. When I checked out the Sunday, it took me all of five minutes to do so. If that. Not exactly reassuring. But I’m sure there was a rational explanation which true to form they felt no need to provide. Overall, my interaction with the staff felt forced, contrived and condescending to the point where it was comical. I’m paying £785.00 for two nights in an alleged premium hotel to be humoured. Hilarious. I don’t expect you to address this matter, your staff’s handling of my stay has told me all I need about your brand. Inept, devoid of empathy, conscientious and care. I understand you’re a commercial enterprise, but a word of advice from a follow business owner. Great brands aren’t built with the just the bottom line in mind. They’re built with heart too. Thanks for an underwhelming and abysmal stay.

Positives Friendly staff Hotel is fairly well maintained Large room Decent food (breakfast average) Negatives Spa is small, overcrowded, and under par in terms of amenities. Poor value £625 for a room and evening meal for 2. There are much better hotels at this price point. To put this into some lind of context, I would personally value the experience at £350. Tried the Sunday lunch on 7th Jan 24 not been there until before co-vid as they repriced it at 3 times what it used to be as you had to pay for every course rather than a 2 or 3 course deal. They changed this and we had 3 courses for £48 which was reasonable. The food was very good and the service great. The only gripe was the size of the beef portion which was very small. Restaurant not busy as the Sunday lunch is included in the hotel offer for a Sunday night. Just gone again on 14th what a difference : Price has risen from £48 to £54 for 3 courses and by £3 for the 2 courses to £42. Still showing the old price on the website even when I checked when I got home, come on this is unacceptable but is not important to the hotel as most people are booking the room deal where the Sunday lunch is included. Busier now as more people staying at the hotel and here the conflict arises once you have booked the hotel they want to reduce their costs. Stupid things number of roast potatoes down from 4 to 3 from the week before, beef even a smaller portion. Extra gravy we were asked if we wanted any on 7th which we confirmed and got a full small pot this time nearly 10 minutes wait even though you had been served your food and less than 1/4 of what we had before. Service not good plates left for nearly ten mins after we finished the main course. We poured our own water and waitress took our plates for our mains said she would wipe the table but instead put my fork for my dessert in a pool of gravy.I had to complain for here to change it. Do not eat here if you are a 3rd party looking for just a good Sunday lunch go to the Woodspeen or Elcot it is really just there as part of the hotel deal and priced so guests think they are getting something expensive included which they are not.

Some friend's invited us to join them for lunch here - they had a relationship with the sister hotel. First impression was how lovely all of the staff we met were, everyone regardless of what they were doing made the effort to make eye contact and say hello. We had a aperitif at the bar prior to moving to our table We were allocated the very lovely Connor to look after us who determined (correctly) early on that he could have some fun with us. He was the perfect blend of professional service and dry wit .... finding much amusement in my dislike of cheese - he definitely made our afternoon Food choices were excellent, services was unhurried and despite being in a very busy restaurant, it was such a relaxing atmosphere and the level of attention we received was impressive. Again when we finally left hours later, all of the team made the same effort to wish us well.

It is always sad to see a really good venue on the slide, and nobody would happily take a crack at a man who has supported prostate cancer research all his life, but the owner of the Vineyard needs to hear this story. My wife and I (87 and 89!) decided to treat ourselves yesterday and felt we could not go wrong at the Vineyard. We were spectacularly wrong! As we arrived we noticed a Range Rover in the car park with a flat tyre. So we mentioned this to the staff we met at the door, who were duly grateful and deferential. Not so their boss, who told us peremptorily that the owner already knew about it and was 'dealing with it'. No gratitude and not a hint of deference. The same 'gentleman' then said they had no trace of our reservation at the Catch but he was sure they could find room for us. As the tent which houses the Catch was empty at the time, and it was pouring with rain, this didn't prove difficult. The genial Maitre d', Piotr, welcomed us graciously and we ordered a half lobster each, followed by Eton Mess and a bottle of Saint Clair Sauvignon Blanc. My wife's lobster was excellent, albeit not 'large' as described by Piotr. Mine, however, tasted excellent but when I removed the piece of claw strategically covering the tail I discovered the tail meat had been removed! This was a first for me! We have eaten in Michelin and other 5 Star restaurants all over the world but never before had an empty lobster tail brought to the table. As I had chosen to leave the tail to last I had no way to prove my experience so I chose not to tell Piotr. The Eton Mess was thoroughly unremarkable and the saving grace was the Sauvignon Blanc, which was excellent and reduced to £29.50 by the special 50% discount. We left disappointed, and saddened to see the Vineyard's decline. Their wines are still matchless but the dining in the tent leaves a lot to be desired. It was cold and unwelcoming, with no sign of working heaters, and the cotton shawl offered to my wife did little to help. Most importantly the impression conveyed by the staff, with the exception of Piotr, is that they are doing you a favour to allow you to use their hotel, which flies in the face of the meaning of service and hospitality. In our view this particular Catch got dropped.

Once a year we drive down to meet up with some great friends and go for dinner with them. Our friends had booked The Vineyard for the four of us for this particular dinner and we were all very much looking forward to it having looked at the website. In fact I had wanted to try The Vineyard for some time as I was aware of its renowned wine list and wine is a serious interest and passion of mine. Sadly we were all equally underwhelmed by our first Vineyard experience. On the plus side the wine that we chose was excellent and the restaurant certainly has an impressive wine list. However nothing else lived up to our expectations unfortunately. The food was served on cold plates and at best was warm when it was served. Our friends had the chateaubriand and offered my wife and I a piece to try. We all agreed that it was bland, lacked seasoning and that frankly we could do better ourselves. To add to the problem with the temperature of the food there was a delay between our friends being given plates (containing two pieces of asparagus) and the chateaubriand being brought and served to them. My wife and I ordered the lamb and she could not finish it as the second piece was stone cold by the time that she was ready to eat it. We all ordered desserts with an accompanying glass of dessert wine. Instead of everything being served more or less at the same time the glasses of dessert wine were brought to the table about 15 minutes before the desserts came out. My friend mentioned the dessert wine issue to the sommelier and he simply started arguing with my friend and questioning his attitude which was totally unacceptable. The desserts themselves were okay but there was no wow factor about any of them. The service and the restaurant itself lacked direction and obvious leadership. With service in mind one member of staff needs to be mentioned for all of the wrong reasons. We established subsequently from reception that the member of staff's name was Pino. He totally ignored us throughout the evening when it was clear that there had been issues as he was aware of us talking with other staff members including a female junior manager. Furthermore he was rude and ignorant when he did finally come to our table with the card machine (the only time that he came to see use) and clearly in our opinion he was not fit for purpose. I should add that at all times whilst providing feedback to the various members of staff we were always polite unlike Pino and the sommelier whose respective attitude left a lot to be desired. The one positive, other than the wine, was the general manager who did come and speak with us and agreed to a 50% reduction in our food bill. He listened to us, was entirely sympathetic and genuinely seemed to care about our experience.

Knowing our love of good wine and food the owner of one of our favourite restaurants local to where we live had recommended a visit to The Vineyard at Stockcross a couple of years ago. What a find! From the moment we arrived at this stunning hotel which is part of the Relais & Chateau group it felt the welcoming team had a genuine desire for us to have a wonderful experience and every member of the Vineyard team went ‘over and above’ to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Everything about our visit to the Vineyard was enjoyable……from the impact of the stunning mural ‘The Judgement of Paris’ as you walk into the reception area and the incredible wine vault visually exposed through glass flooring to our lovely spacious room….we enjoyed it all. The French-style decor & art on display is classy and creates an ambiance of total relaxation. The rooms are beautiful and spacious and the bar and restaurant which is on split levels is light and comfortable with an extensive quality wine selection on offer. I took my boyfriend here recently for a birthday dinner but unfortunately we left very disappointed. The food was ok - I would say average - but it was the service that really let the place down. From start to finish our waitress just seemed intent on ignoring us, as we waited forever for her to take our initial order. This agonisingly slow service continued as we waited between courses. At one point our glasses were sat empty for a good 20 mins awaiting a refill, despite there being wine on the table. She also knew nothing about the wine menu and had to seek assistance from another member of staff to give us a recommendation. When she did turn up to serve the starters, she quite abruptly asked us to move our bread plates - not an issue in itself, but her manner of delivery surprised us both. We had both asked for the steak for our main course, both served medium rare, however mine turned up almost blue and yet my partner’s was well done! Then, to top the evening off, we were left waiting for the bill for a good 20-30 minutes while she happily chatted away to a couple at a nearby table. We finally managed to secure the bill having sought the attention of a completely different waitress. By this point I felt it unreasonable that we should have to pay the service charge, having received such poor service, so asked for this to be removed. We then received a fairly insincere apology from the maitre’d. Needless to say we will be cancelling our impending pre-booked spa break & overnight stay in October, and going somewhere where the quality & service reflects the price you pay.

In the past, we’ve enjoyed wonderful set lunches at The Vineyard main restaurant pre-Covid, but Sunday Lunch today was completely different and not what we expected. Although ingredients were high quality, the style of cooking was not what we had come to expect from previous visits. We concluded that the Head Chef must have been replaced with someone far less able because the plates of food were noticeably “cafe style traditional Sunday Roast” rather than the previous spectacular “nouvelle cuisine” offering.Price too high for the cooking standard now offered compared with previous visits.

The Pavilion at the Vineyard has been widely hailed as an enterprising and ingenious method of continuing to operate during the Covid-lockdown. The venue is a large open circular marquee with a fairly large number (I didn’t count them) of socially-distanced tables. The night we visited the place was empty when we arrived but cheerfully full by the time we left. The service was very fast at taking orders and delivering food when we arrived but tailed off to practically zero as the place filled up. The basic idea is to offer a range of ‘small plates’ of food, some cold and some hot, cooked where necessary over a ‘fire pit’. The menu is not extensive. There are lots of vegetarian choices, many of which such as lettuce or potatoes are adequate for two people but the choice of what might be regarded as the ‘main’ dishes is less than appears on the internet sample menu and helpings of what is available are distinctly parsimonious. As might be expected from the name of the hotel, wine is important with an emphasis on Californian offerings and several are offered by the glass and by the carafe, although the prices are ambitious. As a night out after months of lockdown, this place is fun. As a destination for what Gordon Brown might call ‘a proper meal’, however, it would soon pall. One minor grouse is that there although there is a large car park, there are only three disabled parking spaces which are badly indicated and awkwardly positioned against a wall. The main access to the restaurant involves a steep flight of stone steps and although there is a ramp from the hotel entrance to the marquee which presumably does take a wheelchair, it is not obvious.

Birthday Lunch in pavilion ... superb. It was a tapas style lunch. Lots of delicious delights to choose from, although considered to be small plates, there was more than enough food. Wonderful setting, cozy, warm and inviting. Will definitely be back.

First visit here and although nice it was let down by some basic mistakes.1) you don't expect to pay £75 per person and be served by someone wearing trainers and and Adidas sweatshirt. Branded tops and black bottoms please !2) plate warmers would be nice. With random hot and cold dishes turning up it would be nice to be able to keep the hot ...hot3) the hot food was actually only warm. Definitely not straight off the BBQ.4) under cooked Lobster - disappointed.5) under Covid the set up was actually breaking the law. 50% of the walls were not open.Would I go back ? No. Suited to people with money to burn. If you value your hard earned money I think there are better value for money restaurants.

We dined here twice while staying at the hotel. The menu was the same both nights (a bit disappointing) but actually gave us the chance to sample different items, or repeat! Certainly the starter of scallops was superb - but pricey - and the cobb bacon and blue cheese salad unusual and tasty. Over the two nights we tried lemon sole, beef rib eye and duck between us as mains, all wonderful with, I think, the duck as stand-out. It wasn't clear from the menu, or the staff, but by ordering a dessert (to share each night, both stunning, passionfruit cheesecake / apple, with salted caramel i/c) on was served witha glass of dessert wine, fab! If we HAD known that we moght not have ordered another glass of regular wine with our mains. The wine choice was extensive, but quite dear. Our first night (the day the hotel reopened after the autumn firebreak) was very quite so lacking a bit of atmosphere in the restaurant, it was busier the second night.BUT we were SO happy to be away, served and to feel soemthing towards normal (masks etc nothwithstanding!)

Beautiful hotel. Me and my fiancé were celebrating an anniversary and kindly got upgraded to a beautiful suite with a lovely view. Complete relaxation. The restaurant was divine- such a lovely concept with the bird cage theme! Great selection of wines although on the pricy side. Continental breakfast included which was delivered to our door. Staff very courteous.

We attended The Vineyard to assess the possibility of having our wedding there.Thinking a midweek lunch would give an indication of the service expected, we booked and anticipated a gastronomical delight in wonderful surroundings. Alas it fell very short on a number of levels. Firstly the surroundings are amazing, a superb marque to the side of the hotel. Initially, as we were fact finding, the few items on the menu were a little disappointing. My partner and I discussed the choices and decided that with the current situation (Covid etc) that we would give allowance. Settling on Roasted Partridge and "The VIneyard Cheeseburger" for mains and Grilled Cornish sardines Cobb Salad for starters. We requested the Sommelier to choose our wine for the courses. After a reasonable discussion he suggested a splendid, fruity, minimal tannings, delightful red at £114 a bottle! Normally at this point I would accept the suggestion of the wine waiter and go with it. However, given the choice of food available and considering one of the dishes was a cheeseburger and chips I began to rethink our situation and suggested ourselves a familiar bottle of red wine that I would consider suitable for the fare served. The starters on arrival was edible but nothing exceptional. The main course of Partridge was acceptable but rather salty. The burger and chips were dry, the bun itself was burnt and the chips were overcooked. I ate half of it and discarded the rest. When the waitress cleared the table I asked what distinguishes "The Vineyard Cheeseburger" from any other burger. She replied the Californian spices and pickles. We decided not to have desert and requested the bill. The bill included a service charge well in excess of the service provided. The overall bill came to £175 for a two course lunch. I challenged the waiter on the issues to be told they were not up to the usual standard and that Covid had knocked them somewhat. My verdict ... Had the food and service been spectacular I would have walked away satisfied. Unfortunately it fell ridiculously short. When highlighting the shortfalls I expected a further discussion, particularly as the prices are so high. Unfortunately that did not happen either.

Birthday meal on a lovely Sunday evening. We booked a table for 6:30 and left at 9:30. The food and choice of wine was amazing and the setting was wonderful in their Inside Out restaurant. The only thing that let the whole evening down was how long it took for the bill and payment to be completed, 30 mins. But overall the experience was special. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Four of us had lunch at The Vineyard today. The food was outstanding, we feasted on lobsters and roast beef, the wine was delicious but the highest point (on a meal with many high points!) was the friendly, cheerful and totally professional service. We had an unhurried meal in the pavilion which was totally Covid compliant which we shall remember for a very long time and we shall return as soon as possible! Thank you all at The Vineyard!

We have eaten in the main restaurant before and was intrigued by their new temporary 'inside out' restaurant on their patio. It was beautifully designed and had a very cosy, romantic feel. it wasn't cold and they did have some patio heaters from when the evenings do cool down. The service was amazing and so was the food. We will be visiting again before they revert back to their normal restaurant at the end of September. I would definitely recommend a visit!

Sadly my good friend and I booked up a lunch on a Monday to mark his birthday based on "good food guide" resommendations. I was unable to check out the web site for the menu because my service provider (Virgin media) had blocked the web site as it apparently has an "adult theme"Our booking was readily accepted and note was made of my friend's birthday. We thought something was wrong when we were presented with the "bar menu" as the restaurent was closed. The nice and helpful waitress was very surprised we had not been warned when booking.Undaunted we ordered some snacks (olives and peppers) whiuch were both pretty awful and for main courses tandoori monkfish and a venison pie and tomatos and sweet potato chips. We did have a nice bottle of Riesling. The bread was extremely havy and very salty and the monkfish had no tandoori flavour.... the bill came to £90.Based on this experience and in spite of the beautiful surroundeings and over attentive staff I would not bother to return in spite of the enthusiastic write ups and guide book recommendations.

My second visit. We had lunch and was greeted by a staff member was expecting me and who knew who I was. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced and the service is first class. If anything the dining room seemed very empty for such a wonderful venue which in a way detracted from the overall experience- would be good to return one evening when just a little busier. Almost faultless.

I experienced the 8 dish tasting menu for £99, totally worth the experience. The dishes included some lavish flavours for a perceptive palate. My absolute favourites were the trout dish with horseradish, the celeriac dish with truffle, the oyster dish and of course the exceptional halibut dish. The tasting menu ended with four cheeses accompanied with crackers and fruit, the goats cheese, blue cheese with a difference and a creamy cheese with a brie type texture was a truly sublime choice.Tremendously wonderful tasting menu with refreshing flavours so soaring compliments to the esteemed Chef Tom Scade for a fabulous collaboration. The service staff were exceptional, attentive and very professional.Cant wait to dine at The Vineyard again !

A friend and I had an afternoon at the spa at the Vineyard. Our deal included a two course lunch. Photos attached. I started with leek and potato soup which arrived as 4 potato balls and 4 slivers of leek in a plate to which the waitress added some green soup. I have to say this is the oddest way I’ve ever had leek & potato soup and it was the worst course of my lunch. The potatoes were a bit al dente and the green soup not too warm. The remaining two courses were lovely and I can’t fault the venue and the service. Amazing. The same with the spa. It’s not a big spa but was lovely and peaceful. The changing room isn’t massive and I’d hate to arrive or want to leave when more than two people were there. We had a back massage which was amazing. I almost cried when the therapist stopped massaging. Overall a most enjoyable afternoon/experience and well worth the money paid.

I have wanted to eat here for years as I live locally but just not had the chance so was delighted to be asked for a friends birthday. The food and wine were absolutely delightful but the service was unbelievably slow. 3 hours and 20 minutes for 3 courses even though the restaurant was only about 25% full. What disappointed me even more was that I wrote to them describing my experience in a constructive manner and no one even bothered to write back.

I have been a regular patron on this wonderful establishment. Today I visited for a Christmas Eve lunch. Omg have the portions become small, I needed a magnifying glass. Very disappointing following the previous Chef. My main course was a slice of belly pork and a small sliver of baby gem lettuce. I realise now why so many tables were empty!!

This hotel has lots of pluses and almost as many minuses. My wife and stayed overnight with friends for a joint birthday treat as it was a convenient place to meet and boasted a first class restaurant and 5* hotel but sadly it’s really quite average in many ways. Firstly, we originally booked two rooms packaged with dinner in the restaurant but when we were offered only the choice to dine at either 18.30 or 20.30 I called and explained one was too early and the other too late. Sadly, the could only put us on a wait list, so I changed the booking to room only and booked the nearby Michelin’s starred Woodspeen. We met in the bar at 18.15 for pre-dinner drinks only to be told we couldn’t sit in the comfortable settees around the fireplace as the had been reserved. We were shown to an alternative table in the empty bar and ordered a bottle of champagne which was served by a waiter with the most disgusting body odour which we all immedia commented on. 45 minutes late, we left for dinner with the comfy settes still not occupied and surprisingly, no little nibbles to accompany our £75 bottle of champagne. The rooms weren’t 5* either, really dated and in need of refurbishment, especially the bathroom which included a chipped toilet seat and cracked toilet handle which we pointed out to the manager was unhygienic. My wife had a massage but it took place in a room far away from the spa and therefore could only use the facilities by walking back through reception in her dressing gown.In fairness, the manager was excellent, took all the feed back on board and offered us complimentary breakfast. Sadly, this only added to our view on the place. The choices were limited, the service average and just as disappointing as the bar experience. We have recently stayed in far better 5* hotels than this at less than the £325 price for one night, room only.

We have previously visited The Vineyard for various lunches but never on a Sunday. And never with children. This time was different. The excuse ? A friends birthday. On arrival we were greeted warmly at the hotel entrance and ushered into their lounge (a reserved table) just for drinks as we awaited our friends. We then went through to a wonderful round table where it became apparent, this was a feast not just a lunch.Food wise; it was exceptional. I cannot say anything other than that. Quality was five star. Service, five star - yet relaxed and friendly. And the whole afternoon was simply excellent. Whilst on the pricier side of things, I still felt it represented very good value for money. The wine list, as ever, is vast. And whilst I aimed in one direction for the wine, I took guidance from their sommelier and discovered yet more delightful wines from the US. Needless to say - we will be back. And soon. I can not recommend their Sunday Lunch enough.

Mixed - great food, great ambiance as usual, but a strange service experience - disappointing that wine and water at table often empty for 20 minutes plus, never seen such poor levels of service at this restaurant before. I would like to think our corporate table of 10 would be given better attention, all my previous visits have been exceptional. Unfortunately with a heavy heart unlikely to return. We had VIP guests at our table and whilst they were very polite, it was obvious that they too could not quite believe the service levels. Expect better guys ....

This restaurant operates at the very highest level. Its charges are commensurate with that but I would contend that it’s worthwhile. I was there with friends for lunch - three courses for £29. As with many world class restaurants it is the sheer quality of the tastes that make dining here so worthwhile. We decided on a flight of wines to go with our meal. These were fascinating. Trying them before eating, in two cases, didn’t impress but when paired with the food they were all just about perfect. The sommelier was on hand to explain the wines and it was clear she did this from memory rather than reciting a pre-prepared script and she was happy to discuss some of the detail with us. My selection were from Bordeaux, Hungary and, would you believe, Thailand..
