The best restaurants serving French food in England

We visited La Mere on a Wednesday evening and had a wonderful time. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the selective menu has all of the French classics you'd hope for. The food and wine menu are both great value for money.

Best brownies ever. They are gooey from inside and crunchy on outside. Perfect flavour and sweetness.

Was let down by another restaurant last minute and they fitted us in. Fantastic service and the food was amazing!!! Definitely recommend

I can't say better thinks in word other than this place is AMAZING. The breakfast is filling and full of flavour And so is the lunch. I have yet to enjoy the dinner, but with the AMAZING service that they always give, I look forward to to it :)

Good for London and handy for the theatre

4 de nosotros vinimos a compartir una botella de vino después de ir a un espectáculo cercano. Hacía tanto ruido en el interior que pedimos sentarnos fuera, después de pedir el vino en el bar. Era su casa blanca y costó £ 38 que es la botella más barata que tienen. Nos ofrecimos a sacar el vino con nosotros y dijeron que no, que alguien lo sacaría. Lo hicieron, después de lo cual lo abrieron y llenaron los cuatro vasos hasta arriba. Les pedimos que se detuvieran, ya que no todos estábamos bebiendo tanto como los demás, solo quería medio vaso mientras conducía. Pero para entonces estaba derramada. Lo redistribuimos. No nos trajeron agua ni nada más. Pedimos la factura y la pagamos - después me di cuenta de que nos habían cobrado £ 4. 75 cargos por servicio. Debería haber revisado la factura en su momento, por supuesto y tendré más cuidado la próxima vez. No volveré a ir allí.

I've never been here before, but I highly recommend it. The food and service were excellent, and the staff were really friendly. I will definitely be going back there again sometime soon.

Delicious food and friendly staff.

We had a very enjoyable pre-concert dinner at the Kensington Cote this week. The service was friendly and fast, and we were lucky with the weather, so an outside table allowed us to get some early evening sunshine 🌞. The a la carte mains we chose were the Beef Cheek Bourguignon and the Poulet Breton with the Petits Pois à la Française side dish, both were delicious. A couple of free glasses of Crémant Rosé was a nice bonus too. Recommended.

A lovely experience. David, the founder, served many of the courses with cheerful explanations. Delicious and thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Excellent and surprisingly reasonably priced food. Interesting menu. Portion sizes just about perfect. Super friendly and informative staff. Hotel dining room feel (because it's, um, a hotel dining room) which knocks the atmosphere a bit but I would imagine on a busy evening it would be buzzing. Overall one of the best places I've eaten around Bournemouth.

Always a great place to eat , friendly atmosphere, great staff and delicious food . The 2 or 3 set course menu is also very good value .

Have emailed twice but not received a reply, hence a copy posted here. We are writing to express our concern about our poor dinning experience on 7th March. It was our first time at the restaurant, celebrating our anniversary and we appreciated the card, the friendly and engaging staff and enjoyed the meal. Soon after we had sat down, there was a table of 4 seated adjacent to us and their loud and raucous conversations ruined our dining experience. Even though, by the end of our meal, a member of staff had acknowledged our discomfort by the look on my face and body reaction and spoke to us, we left quite unhappy and rather bewildered as nothing had been done. I was contemplating if I should say something to that table before they left (they left before us) but we did not feel that it was our responsibility to do so, and we expected that action would have been taken much earlier. We decided on the restaurant as we had received recommendations from friends, and as we do frequent fine dining and Michelin restaurants we did not expect this type of atmosphere or the problem not to be addressed. We ended up having a mediocre time disrupting our dining experience and making it difficult to have a conversation with each other, for the sum of @£550, which is not what we, or yourselves would expect. We would appreciate it if you could kindly address this situation and ensure a more pleasant atmosphere. Thank you for your attention to this matter and we look forward to hearing from you.
