Loved this restaurant Christmas day dinner was lovely would definitely go back again

Service was way down on normal good levels. Greeted by a disinterested waitress who sent us to our table at the end of the restaurant with a wave of her hand and gave us menus to take with us. Didn’t take us there and left us to decide for ourselves. Long wait to order - not offered the prix-fixe menu. Given someone else’s bill at the end and only got served if we waylaid a passing member of staff. Given the wrong drinks. No check backs in our food. Not the service we usually expect at this venue

Beautiful food, a relaxed but refined atmosphere. Staff are wonderful! So many to mention but Josh and Alex are always so helpful, friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed but refined dining experience in the city.

Still, in my opinion, the best gamer in town.

Good breakfast menu and friendly staff, unfortunately the food wasn't as good as expected. It took a while for the food to arrive and it came luke warm and a little tasteless, we were surprised as it wasn't busy at all. Shame but probably wouldn't visit again.

Despite being a great fan of Cote I was disappointed with my last visit. 2 diners ordered French onion soup - when it arrived the small bowls were half full, it was cold and there was a plain slice of bread by the side. I thought it was usually served with a grilled cheese slice of French bread floating on the soup. It was sent back to be reheated. My scallops (not cheap) were tiny - propably two or three small scallops sliced so thinly and over cooked they were almost like crisps and not succulent and juicy as I expected. As it was my birthday celebration I did not complain. The muscles were good apparently. The staff were friendly and helpful but I will think twice about going back

Good place for classy dine in. We went on corporate dinner, food was amazing, we ordered three course meal. Service was also good. We enjoyed our time.

I'd start by saying this used to be my favourite restaurant, but for a while now it has been lacking the last several times I have gone here. Today I went for breakfast and the food was disappointing and so was the service. I had the breakfast cassoulet, And the beans were not all cooked and was lacking in flavour, as well as the breakfast sandwich, which again lacked any flavour. My guest had a french breakfast, and said it was nice, but nothing to shout about. Quite average & the service was not it's normal self either as we ordered and then waited 35 minutes for the food to arrive, followed by nobody checking up on us for are entire experience. Sadly this was a big disappointment, and far from what it used to be. I don't know what has happened, but hope it can go back to being grat again and not just mediocre.

This may be one of a chain of restaurants but the food is always good as is the service. The management and staff always ensure you enjoy the experience. We have only been for lunch but have always been looked after well.

Been here 3 times now and 3rd was amazing! Really stepped it up a gear from last time. Lily was lovely and really enjoyed her service!

We went to Cote in Chelmsford for a family birthday celebration. As a vegan I was a bit sceptical of going to Cote brasserie. But, to my pleasant surprise there were several vegan starter and main options. I had a tasty pumpkin soup and a delicious mushroom casserole. The service was excellent as well. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The only reason for not giving it a 5 star, is because there wasn’t a vegan dessert option.

Cote Chelmsford offers the classic Cote experience, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere and a menu full of French-inspired classics. My recent visit was mostly positive, but a few small details could have been improved. I ordered my steak cooked medium, but it arrived more on the medium-rare side, so I had to send it back. When it returned, it was cooked as I requested, and I could tell the meat was of good quality. However, I didn’t receive a steak knife initially and had to ask for one, which interrupted the flow of the meal a bit. Despite these small hiccups, the overall experience was enjoyable. The ambiance was pleasant, and the waitress was attentive and genuinely made an effort to ensure I was satisfied. With a few small adjustments, Cote Chelmsford could be an even better experience.

Love eating at Cotes. Staff polite and very efficient.

I arrived a bit before 9am and the staff kindly let me in, only ordered a black coffee and granola bowl. The bowl was left wanting …didn’t see any walnuts and it really wasn’t half full. Not sure how they could have made it look more attractive …coconut flakes perhaps, just expected more from a higher end resturant which as cotes. Place was clean, staff friendly and attentive. I would recommend but just needs a bit more wow

Myself and the my wife popped in there for afternoon dinner service was great however the food was terrible I had the steak filet straight from the freezer and my wife has the fish pie also straight from the freezer along with the spinach all just a bit watery…. Don’t plan on returning any time soon

Agnesa and her team were lovely and looked after us very well this afternoon. We had chicken pate and scallops for starters followed by seabass and salmon for mains to finish with a delicious chocolate mousse. It was perfect!

Loved it, the food was wonderful and the service superb.

No one to greet us. We were told to find our own table. The staff weren't wearing uniforms, just random outfits like pink trousers covered in food. The restaurant was tattered and felt neglected. The menu consisted of mainly boil in the bag meals. The atmosphere was dead, with no music, all customers of a very late age range, and staff that seemed to resent being there serving them. After 10 minutes of not even being offered a drink, my partner and I left for an alternative restaurant... and in hindsight, we are so glad we did. I do not recommend cote, and won't recommend it until they claw their way into this century.

Every time we are going to Cote it is a blessing. Amazing dishes, friendly stuff, very good prices for the quality of the food. Truly recommend.

Always enjoy eating lunch at Côte. The staff are always very courteous, attentive and helpful. It's nearly always more pleasant than sitting in a pub. However, the prix fixe menu is a little tired, I feel, and I also think that the quality of the ingredients has gone down in the last couple of years.

We came at Cote especially for the french toast which is our favourite. But we then realised that we came after breakfast time. Lily was very kind to ask the head chef Samir if he could prepare the toast for us at an unconventional Lunch-menu time. And he happily agreed.The French toast was a standout. The flavors of vanilla were perfect, creating an inviting and comforting taste with the exquisite toppings.Highly recommended! Thank you so much Lily and Samir. You made our day x

We were lucky enough to be served by Josh. His attentiveness, friendliness and knowledgeable recommendations made our lunch memorable. Aside from the wonderful service (not only from Josh), the food was great and the restaurant was lovely. Highly recommended.

The manager Rugile was so friendly and helpful. She gave me and my family excellent service was making sure everything was fine and we enjoyed our meal. I would definitely recommend. Food and atmosphere was amazing.

Actually decent. And its in chelmsford, if you can believe it. I remember when this place was bar 7 and the owner sold methylated spirits mixed with water to 15 year olds. How times have changed!

Always a great place for Sunday Breakfast

We was a group of 10 and several of our party had allergies and they were excellently catered for. All the food looked delicious (my steak was cooked to perfection) and the service was really good too. We couldn’t fault them!! I will definitely visit again!

Affordable and lovely French food in a relaxed atmosphere served by friendly and happy staff. Fine establishment to while away a couple of hours over a couple of courses....visited recently for birthday meal, were given a glass of Cremant de Bourgogne on the house, nice touch ☺ particular enjoyed sharing a cheese board at the end of the mains, all food lovely as always, affordable and right size portions - enough to make you want more due to taste but not to need it 👍

Great atmosphere, absolutely love the restaurant, the staff is nice and working fast, just a bit disappointed in the desert I've had. I have visited twice, once for breakfast, which was absolutely perfect and the second time it was for main menu. The mains were good but the dessert was very disappointing. I've had the crepes with cherries and the crepe had the texture of rubber and it tasted like it as well. I am a bit disappointed that I had to pay for it as well even though I have told a member of the staff about it and it was left untouched except for that small corner I've tasted and I've instantly regretted it.

Recommend Cote's "SUNDAY SAX" meals. Warmly welcomed, shown to a table ( of our choise ) and enjoyed listening to the Lady Sax player whilst deciding what to eat. We both chose the following Sunday 3 course option ( £38/ head ) and enjoyed our : Starter - Asparagus, egg, bacon & sauce. Main - Lamb rump, fries, bacon & peas + beans. Desert - ( just made room for it ) of Strawberries, merangue & cream. The Saxaphone player provided the perfect atmosphere for a liesurely and memorable meal served by our attentive waitress.

We had a wonderful dinner experience as a table of eight. The food and the service were both outstanding. We were sharing some starters: chicken liver parfait, cheese soufflé and scallops. If you try just one thing on their menu, go for the parfait. It is unreal! For mains I had their vegan mushroom bourguignon. I know vegan dishes are not for everyone, but I love everything with mushrooms, so for me it was a win. And the vegan bacon was definitely a different texture, than normal bacon, but the taste was lovely! My friends had the duck, pan-fried salmon and the fish pie, and they were all amazed by the quality of food. For dessert I had the paris-brest, which is a pastry filled with pistachio praline, and it was just the best! I would like to mention our servers here, Josh and Denis, because they did an excellent job caring for us. There was nothing too much trouble for them. They always made sure we had everything we needed, but also gave us space to enjoy ourselves in peace. They originally didn’t have the dessert that I was looking for, so I was a bit sad, but after a few minutes Denis came back to the table and told me that they’re able to make a slightly smaller portion of it. Which was extremely kind, and I appreciated it a lot! If you like french cuisine, and looking for a place with excellent service, Côte Chelmsford is a great place to go!

Meeting an old friend of many years, and from arrival i was met with a wonderful welcome, which was the start of great servicd by the young vibrant team. Terrific welcome cocktail, which was complimentory as we ate from the a la carte menu (great offer) Nice varied menu offer and great no rush service, as we talked non stop for over 4 hours! Nice decor and nice people.

Delicious meal. We had the pork belly that was cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly. No photos were taken. However, everything was beautifully presented. The atmosphere was a little reserved as all the customers were a bit older and quiet.

Lovely restaurant in Chelmsford. Food was good along with the wine and service. Very accommodating as, coming from Spain, we wanted to eat dinner a bit later than is usual in the UK. Would recommend eating here.

It was my husband’s birthday and we were thoroughly looked after by Denis. The food was spectacular and the service was even better. We usually try to avoid chain restaurants but we have been to Cote twice now, and each time we have been very impressed by the quality. Will definitely return

Visited Cote with my wife on Saturday, haven’t been there for a few years. Had a great evening, food was lovely and service fantastic. There was a deal on where you got a free cocktail if you chose a main course from the a la carte menu. We both had French onion soup for starters, which was delicious. My wife had the chicken for main and I had the fillet steak. Both were cooked to perfection. The service was also fantastic with very helpful and professional attention from the waiters. Will definitely be returning soon and recommend to everyone to visit

Very disappointed with the experience (maybe we had been spoilt by the excellent service with Cote at Norwich) The food is fantastic, the service left a lot to be desired. We felt we were interrupting their social life, felt very much in the way. Will find a restaurant with some ambiance next time we want to treat ourselves, friends and family

Having visited several Cote restaurants over the years and always enjoyed the experience a visit while in Chelmsford seemed natural. The expectation is a nice ambiance, comfortable seating and, most importantly, good food. Sadly on this occasion we left feeling underwhelmed and very disappointed. The greeting of an abrupt, “two, sit where you want” wasn’t the best of starts as indeed was the equally abrupt “we don’t accept cash just cards ok” whilst leaving the menu. The food was equally short on pleasantry, the boeuf bourguignon looked like it has just come out of the microwave, I’m guessing that the warning about a warm plate was a clue. I don’t expect warm plates, I expect hot plates. The plate lacked a red jus, the mash was almost liquid however at least the beef was chunky. Overall lacked taste and seasoning. The moules frite was reasonable and certainly plentiful, I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve had but then again not the worst. It was just alright. Again service was lacking, no one bothered to ask if everything was alright and I gave up waiting for salt and vinegar for the frites. I think it will be a long time before we venture into a Cote restaurant again, there’s plenty of alternatives which will probably show a bit more interest in their customers.

Went for Brunch as an early Mother's Day treat with family. Food delicious as always and excellent service. Very busy .

Called in for early evening fixed price menu. Generally food and service very good but waitress dropped some of the starter on the floor in her rush to serve. It wasn't much food but I thought she should has taken the dish back to the kitchen if only to rearrange it if not adding missing items. Main and dessert very good. Would return.

Food was fine. Welcome was fine. Noone cared after that. No check back, didn't ask me if my meal was okay, no communication whatsoever when I paid and this looked like the manager? A guy called Matthew on the receipt. Happy to take my money, and bounded over with the card machine ready without asking me if I was happy to pay a tip.. but not happy to give any communication. Poor.

Definitely one of my favourite places to go for a meal. Always a wonderful experience with great food and extraordinary service.

5 Star hotel service at 2 Star prices in the middle of Chelmsford. A wonderful , fresh ,clean and surprisingly vibrant brasserie. As we sat down the waitress asked if we wanted drinks and hey presto 4 rather good cocktails appeared as we perused the menu. The prix fixe has something for everyone and is exceptional value.

I love to eat here everything is well presented and the price reflects the food and service
