Mission Wine Bar & Kitchen in Tower Hamlets

4 of us dropped in to share a bottle of wine after we went to a nearby show. It was so noisy inside that we asked to sit outside, after we ordered the wine at the bar. It was their house white and cost £38 which is the cheapest bottle they have. We offered to take the wine out with us and they said no, someone would bring it out. They did, whereupon they opened it and filled all four glasses to the top. We did ask them to stop, as not all of us were drinking as much as the others - I only wanted half a glass as I was driving. But by then it was poured out. We redistributed it. They didn't bring us water or anything else. We asked for the bill and paid it- afterwards I noticed they had charged us £4.75 service charge. I should have checked the bill at the time of course and I'll be more careful next time. I won't go there again.

Interesting wine list with some weirdos like Merlot from Denmark. Dishes a little too fat. Veggie dish soaked in oil. Service very diligent. Recommend

What an awful meal and service verging on rude but certainly couldnt care less if we were happy or not. If you want to eat mucked about, unrecognisable gloop then this is the place for you. The waitress couldnt even tell us what it was supposed to be. We left hungry, service so slow there was no time for dessert or coffee before they demanded the table be vacated. On reflection perhaps that wasnt a bad thing. We certainly wont be back, we dont like being fleeced and taken for mugs.

A proper gem under the arches. A charming stylish indoor setting with a terrace area as well. The menu was an original, and tasty selection over 3 delicious courses where we shared everything to make sure not to miss out. I particularly enjoyed a hake dish which had some eel slipped in for Bethnal Green authenticity which was rich, flavourful but light and easy. Never made it to desert due to time pressure - looked so good that we have to go back to find out.

The team at Sager + Wilde were extremely helpful. From helping out identifying which items on the menu are gluten-free to increasing the table number last minute. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good location for a meal with a large group!

I am Italian and I am happy to share that I had the best ragù I ever eat in London. It is not done with minced meat but is great!

My new fav restaurant. Everything is so cute and delicious. Highly recommend. Knowable staff, excellent taste and a good variety of options get not an overwhelming menu. They do everything miraculously well. Don’t forget to get the dessert donuts!

Great meal, great service, great wine choices. Only marked service slightly down because too few waiters to be as attentive as they could have been. Our server was great. A very good chef must be heading a very good team. Fantastic value for the level of food. Look forward to returning.

Great service, but the clam spaghetti dish was salty and really over seasoned...almost inedible. I suffered for it later! Small portions .

The staff were lovely and really great wine list. For the price you’d expect bread to be brought over, there was none. Portions were tiny and for six tiny slices of salami, £13 its extortionate. Pasta was good but again £18 for a tiny portion, left hungry. Wouldn’t return, and food was average for the price paid.

I’ve come here a few times each year since they opened but last night, the service was really slow. We sat down and no one spoke to us or took our order for 15 mins. The food was nice but not exceptional. Dessert took around 20 mins to come, which seems odd for a chocolate cake that is probably pre-made. It seemed like there wasn’t enough staff to serve the restaurant, so while the waiter was nice, the service was too slow. We probably won’t come back soon as there are places with better food and value. I’m sad we didn’t have a better experience as I used to love this restaurant.

The team at sager are all stunning but the food is what makes this place a total 10- Diarmuid makes this place what it is, his food is out of this world and I could eat it EVERYDAY

Excellent wine list and delicious dishes, only downside is that the wine could have been cooler.

Great service, really good food, and a lovely atmosphere

We found the menu a bit limited in terms of choice. We ordered three pastas as mains, and the bavette as the fourth. The shrimp pasta had a strong bitter taste that made it difficult to it. The fettucine were good, but very small plate. And the bavette was good and probably the only dish that was actually "main" sized, but regardless we found it massively oversized for the portion. On wine, we found the selection very pricey for what it is as well. Of course in London all restaurants will charge a surcharge on the wine, but the one we had we found it in store the next day for £11, and in the restaurant had it for £56. Did not feel like it was a good enough wine to warrant such a big surcharge. If you are going to have just one pasta dish and a side to share, I would recommend it. For a proper dinner, you can get a lot more value and quality from other places in London.

My girlfriend and I booked here for a date and had a wonderful night. We had 2 dishes each and the quality was amazing and tasted great. Service was fantastic and overall a great night. Highly recommend!

Such a lovely evening. Great atmosphere and music. Loved the candlelit tables and inside decor. £12 pasta deal was also a steal and worth every penny! The three of us tried the three different pastas and all were excellent.

Inattentive waiting staff who didn’t have any knowledge of the menu and couldn’t tell me what part of the cow a bavette is. Over priced, very average food, trying to be something it’s not.

We booked for a Sunday at 3pm. We were warmly welcomed into the empty dining room. We sat and were offered a drink so we had a cocktail. The waitress asked us right away if we were ready to order but we wanted to enjoy it drinks first. Half way through she returned to say the kitchen was closing did we want to order. We didn’t want to rush through lunch so we declined. I wish they had told us at the start and we wouldn’t have ordered drinks. They need to block out 2.45-4.45 if they close the kitchen from 3-5pm. We wandered along the road to the Marksman and had a lovely meal. As a side note for a wine place the list is very expensive. Very little under £50. Compare that to Mountain which offers 50 bottles under £50.

Menu choices were great - not too many items yet a good selection. Food was excellent, service impeccable and ambience warm, friendly with an sophisticated vibe. Would highly recommend this little nugget of joy.

We arrived late (9.30pm)on a Thursday after a concert. In spite of the fact that the kitchens close at 10 the staff were amazingly accommodating and we had a delicious meal all served promptly and efficiently. Staff were so friendly and we had a lovely meal. Highly recommend

Always fantastic food and a really good, well chosen wine list in a lovely ambience. I’m very picky and Sager and Wilde never fails to deliver, my only gripe being it’s always a little on the chilly side. How I wish that hanging 70s factory light was a space heater reflecting off the lovely corrugated arched ceiling. But thanks again.

I love coming here for dinner - on this visit we were sat on the mezzanine - loved the atmospheric candles on the stairs on the way up to our table. A fabulous food menu - everything we ordered was beautifully presented and delicious! The wine list here is fantastic, as you’d expect from a place which has a sister wine bar in Hackney. We asked for a recommendation to accompany our food choices and the Gamay “ Beaujolais villages” suggested was absolutely perfect. Another wonderful evening here. Service was friendly and unobtrusive.

Lovely setting for a restaurant but let down by lack luster service and overpriced food.

The venue's atmosphere was perfect for a date night, the food was great. Kale pasta was a favorite of ours. The service was really welcomig and fast. Overall a great experience. Would recommend for romantic date nights or birthday celebrations!

Food and overall vibe was amazing, but the staff were quite rude. They brought out the wine we didn't order, rolled their eyes when we asked for 5 mins extra to order and made it very obvious that they want us to leave at 10pm, when the restaurant was closing at 11. I understand that it must be annoying to work during Christmas/NY period, but if you have agreed to do the shift, maybe don't be rude to your customers?

Sager and Wilde is a great restaurant. I started with some shrimp croquettes and had venison on a bed of polenta as main course. The cooking is quite classic but the food is full of flavours and exquisite. We finished with a pear tart accompanied of an excellent glass of Bushmills. Of note, the wine list offers a great choice of wines, the sommelier is very knowledgeable and particularly welcoming. Overall, we had a lovely evening in an excellent restaurant.

Good creative dishes, but way too oily. Bread would help dip up oils and sauces but not if focaccia which is also drizzled with extra virgin. This seems to be a common thing for shared dining places like this one, but no less disturbing for the stomach. Otherwise our experience was very nice, staff was friendly, place is scenic, just a tad noisy.

Honestly I had good expectations for this place The location is nice, romantic ambience but apart for that I do not recommend it; food is not sufficient for me We ordered mafalde with ragù and risotto with artichokes, both were overcooked Service is poor, mains are not served together, empty plates are left for long and waited too much between one plate and the next

Smashed it! Spaghetti was a highlight, as was the pear and Gorgonzola and the pumpkin with chestnut cream.

Wonderful experience, mushroom pasta was one of the best dishes we have ever had!

While the food and wine were really good, the service was quite disappointing. Being one of two tables sat for lunch and needing to try and wave to get a team member’s attention was frustrating, and at the end after our plates were cleared we were left for about 15 minutes with no offer of dessert, coffee or the bill, and again needed to get a team members attention to request the bill.

The food was impeccable I expected the restaurant to be expensive because the quality of the food is amazing however it might’ve been the cheapest restaurant I’ve ever eaten at in london and now has become one of my all time favorites. Staff were the nicest and most helpful and the atmosphere and area can’t complement enough.

disappointing food disappointing service, won’t be coming back

Menu on the day was fairly limited and they "ran out" of both lager and house wine. Service was average, food took ages to come out. Terrace table was great, not too busy and a nice atmosphere.

They were trying to take our plates several times before finishing. They were pushing all the time for us to finish and leave (21:45). Be careful with the misleading wine list - the price is for a carafe, not for a bottle. We realised when we so the bill. We told the waiter about this he said other people get also confused. Summary, I don't like places where they rush me to leave, the try to take advantage with misleading menus and they charge £93 for 2 pasta dishes, 1 burrata, some bread and a bottle wine.

Amazing service delicious food. A lot of less expensive wines on the menu were out of stock so they gave us a more expensive wine for a cheaper price (and it was delicious wine). They didn’t bring our olives but took them and another item off the bill when we told them. The service really made the experience, special mention to the Irish waiter he was great. And every dish was v tasty !

Outstanding service with did that tantalised the tastebuds and wine that delighted the palette. We'll be back!

Great food, inventive dishes, wonderful staff and great wine

Really friendly and knowledgable staff who are easy on the eyes. The venue is set under an active railway so it’s a little loud but also the inside is loud in general due to the shape of it and loud people. Decent wine choice by the glass but huge choice with a bottle. Food was delicious but limited for vegans with no vegan dessert. Thanks for being kind!

I love everything about Sager + Wilde at Paradise Row!! The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The dishes were delicious and I really enjoyed the wine selection. The burrata cheese was one of my favsI will definitely come back again. 

Excellent food delivered with a nice, relaxed style. We especially loved: ajo with grilled lettuce; bacon chop; the cavaletti; poached nectarine with aperol granita.

Food is good but not outstanding. Service is slow but ambiance is fine.

We arrived with no booking, the place was half empty, however they said they were fully booked so we walked away then my friend saw space on Resy. We made it through Resy, came back 15 mins later with our booked reservation and then Paolo simply said he couldn’t seat us because .. well for no reason.. he seemed stressed and like he couldn’t be bothered to.. So basically if you reserve through any system your table isn’t guaranteed, nor is it if you walk in and the place is half empty. Strange system. Awful customer service. We went to Brat after which was incredible, they kept us waiting 5 mins for a table and offered us a free cocktail.. highly recommend there instead.

The food arrived very slowly and dishes appeared sporadically. However that's the only negative and may have been a one-off. The staff were lovely and the food and wine were nothing short of amazing. Will definitely try again.

Great vibe - outside seating area and perfectly dimly lit date spot. They’re wine pros and have some brilliant recommendations on what to get. TRY THE ORANGE WINE and defo get the aubergine 😍

Very nice food, well executed. No comment on wine, because we took our own. Their bottles are, I feel, kinda silly prices for a casual meal out. And it would be good to have a few wines by the glass. I can only speak for our young waiter,veho was courteous and kind, moving us outside so I could hear more easily. All in all, a good experience in a pleasant little corner

Met and served by very friendly staff who took the time and were happy to explain everything, answer any questions, and make recommendations. The wine was delicious, which was expected but lovely all the same. With regards to the food, we tried a few sharing plates of which the burnt aubergine was a particular standout. I'm not the biggest aubergine fan, but this was stunning. The tagliatelle rabbit ragu was also fantastic. Thanks team S+W!

Nice relaxed outdoor space - service was patchy and food just okay (portion sizes relatively small for the price). Great for drinks but would head elsewhere for meals next time.
