Can’t fault it - steak frites for £28 was exactly what I wanted at a much better price than nearby steakhouses, the menu isn’t too big and everything we had was done very well. A really well-made martini to end, too.

French dinner at Chez Elles. Along Brick Lane where it is famous for curries and recently an influx of Chinese restaurants. We went against the grain and had French food. The setting and menu was authentic however the overall quality could have been a little better. The cheese souffle was a little cold, while the beef tartare had chewy bits. Last but not least the duck confit was a bit dry.

A great discovery in London! The goal was not to speak French 😂, but from the moment you are welcomed, you are made to feel at ease. A pleasant and warm team, tasty French cuisine: a top cheese soufflé, delicious trout, succulent meat, not forgetting the homemade fries 😂. In short, stop at this address, you will not be disappointed!

Enjoyed this restaurant, the food was very nice and service good. The French onion soup, duck and crème brûlée were all very tasty. A cozy atmosphere and felt like we were in France. Just one recommendation - please use proper glasses for all customers for red wine. The glass my wine was served in a very shallow and basic punch glass. I noticed this wasn’t the same for other tables who seemed to have much more elegant proper wine glasses.

We came for a lunch and I was really positively surprised by the quality of the food being a French myself. We ordered the beef / fries and trout. They were both very tasty. The fries crusty outside and soft inside, the trout was very tasty with the tomatoes / truffle sauce. All was delicious. I really recommend. It is a bit on the pricey side with dishes above 20 pounds. But it was worth it. The staff is nice and decoration cosy.

Nice atmosphere and obviously popular with French expats based on conversations we could overhear from other tables. I started with offal salad which was tasty. Disappointed by my main of moules frites which was surprisingly tasteless. As if the salty sea water taste had been removed by rinsing cooked mussels in water. Also the acidity of white wine was missig. My companions starter of sardines were too acidic for his taste. His main of cheese souffle was too rich, beig drowned i cheese sauce.

We were craving some French food and stumbled upon this little gem in Brick Lane. We started with the rillette, which was simply amazing — the flavours were rich and full of depth. For our mains, we had two onglets with fries and lettuce. I have an allergy to mustard, and they kindly made a special dressing just for me, which I really appreciated. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. For dessert, we couldn’t resist and ordered three: the crepe suzette had a lovely flavour, and the tarte tatin tasted just like something your grandma would bake fresh from the oven — truly handmade and comforting. We also tried the pistachio crème brûlée. While I’m a huge fan of both pistachio and crème brûlée, I personally prefer the original crème brûlée version. At first, we were a little put off by a somewhat cold waiter, but then the owner took over and completely changed the atmosphere. She was so warm and lovely, making the entire experience feel much more welcoming. Highly recommend this place, and we'll definitely be back! Real French restaurant, approved by French and Mexican 🙂

Visited Chez Elles for dinner with friends. The Bistroquet is small and cosy and the décor is a rather generic French Bistro style with the usual red checked curtains and rustic design. The menu provides a variety of French cuisine many of which are staples such as The Frogs Legs, Duck Rillette, Onion Soup, Snails, Steak Tartare and Cheese Souffle as starters and Duck Leg Confit and Beef Onglet as mains. We enjoyed the Duck Rillette however we were rather disappointed with the Onion Soup and the Poisson Soup which were both rather bland and not very tasty and unfortunately we had to send back the Cheese Souffle( x3) which was uneatable due the large amount of salt. We did speak to the staff about the liberal amount of salt in more than one of our dishes and they promised to pass on our comments to the kitchen They did remove the Cheese Souffle from our bill. We decided not to stay for dessert. The meal as a whole was rather disappointing however the waiting staff did their best.

Had dinner at this French bistro on brick lane. The place itself is very quaint and the waiters were friendly enough. I was slightly disappointed with the food though, the beef onglet was a bit plain and the fries very oily. I really didn't like the creme brûlée, it was very cold you could tell it was taken out of the fridge seconds before it being served. Overall it was an alright experience but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place. You can find great French food elsewhere for a similar price!

I asked if the olives were vegan and the French woman said yes but they left a strong taste of fish in my mouth for while after, seems like they were in some kind of fish brine. I know a lot of French think ‘fish’ isn’t meat or that vegans can eat it but in the UK, vegans (or vegetarians!) don’t eat fish. We call that pescatarian. Also very expensive. Thanks

The duck confit was a treat, with its gratin dauphinois, all levels of which were lightly salted and peppered as required. To finish, a little vanilla ice cream and chestnut cream. Wonderful. Wines to enjoy too. The only small complaint: the cheese plate was not as good as the end of the meal deserved. Too bad, but one thing that shouldn't stop you from coming.

Good but pricey, overall. The cheese souffle is excellent, as is the onion soup; the rest is merely the kind of competent standard you'd expect at any bistro in France. Maybe it's felt that that plain competence justifies these prices? 23 for steak tartare and frites! 25 for duck confit! Felt very punchy. And 14 for a kir royale is extraordinary. Pleasant enough atmosphere though. Service was - that word again - competent. Not sure I'd go back.

Truly excellent bistro. Simple, elegant French food, done to perfection. Not the first time I've visited, and certainly not the last. They don't update their menu very often, but it's all good. The French Onion Soup is like a hug in a bowl.

Food was nice but left you wanting more. Service was terrible, first of all the threw a portion of chips over us and then had the audacity to charge us for 2 portions of chips for replacement that they brought out. Then they kept trying to take our food away before we were finished. Won’t be going back

One of my favourite spots in the city. Food’s on point, staff are kind and attentive, and the space itself is beautifully designed. I should also add that, in my opinion, this must be one of the best restaurants in London in terms of value for money. Nicely done.

Great service, atmosphere and food. Thank you for looking after us Cosmin. Great at accommodating our group of 12. The sharing steak is a great option. Popular was the chickens escalop too.
