I had a great time last week but after today I won't be returning. I took a platter of appetizers and an aperol spritz for my girlfriend and I have nothing to say about that but my cabernet merlot red wine was served to me in a small white wine glass which I immediately asked to replace with a larger one ' large for better decantation, the wine did not have any hint of grapes but only a hint of vinegar, however not too strong, I replaced it with a pinot noir but the sensation was the same, no hint of grapes and vinegar again; no one in charge was able to make me happy and I ate without wine.. I think the glasses were dirty with vinegar because there are not so many chances of opening 2 consecutive bottles of bad wine.

A fine selection of wines, beers, whiskeys, gins, and more awaits, and friendly staff combine with welcoming atmosphere to make Nicolas the place to be at Canary Wharf. You'll not find another shop/restaurant nearby quite like it, so be sure to stop and visit.

I visited in October 2021 to buy a bottle of something and use a voucher I had received. Very helpful staff and they did try to help me with my old voucher. But I didn't actually get to become a customer as my birthday voucher expired after 12 months! Lesson learned, I've only myself to blame. They did try and find a record of it being sold but to no avail.. still time limited vouchers are a bit meh, just give an actual bottle!

Popped in after a meeting in Canada Sq. On the off chance and enquired about a tequila on display. The Gentleman who served me, a pleasure to talk with was so knowledgeable about the product, production and how the flovour was achieved and recommended Enemigo Tequila which upon tasting was excellent. Yes, possibly I could have bought the product cheaper online but not by much after postage and without the great service and experience of browsing some rare and high end wines and spirits. Will definitely be returning.

We were very lucky to visit the outside terrace on one of the sunniest days of the year. Sitting under the shade of the trees with the sound of the water in the fountain in the background with a cold beer or a glass of rosé, some cheese and charcuterie, it really was like being in the south of France - a lovely quarantine-free getaway!!! Reasonably priced good wine and food, especially the cheese. I really hope that the outdoor terrace becomes permanent after Covid, at least in the spring/summer months. Hope to be back one weekend before the cold weather comes!

I travel down to London often for afternoon management meetings at HSBC, and usually have to squeeze past the crowds on the move at lunchtime in the Canada Square Mall (folk are often queuing for takeaways). I know exactly where I'm going - to Nicolas Wine Bar, because it's tucked away from the noise, its layout is simple but elegant (chic), and the staff are equally effortless in the way they handle restaurant-goers. Part of me doesn't want to say this, because I'd rather keep the secret, but too late now...

Helpful staff even near closing and a large selection of tastefully chosen wines. There is a seating area (wouldn’t say it’s super comfy though) but I suspect the main Business of this branch is to sell bottles for retail purposes. There are small platters/charcuterie on offer as well, though.

The place was busy but we felt looked after as we asked for more stools and more wine. A true corner of Europe (what I mean is proper service and outstanding food and wines which is so rare in hight street restaurant chains)

We were chatting so got lost with the time and an hour after ordering realised that we were still waiting. Turns out our order got lost. Big apology and we only got charged for one of our meals and a discount on the wine. Was a nice meal but my friend was disappointed as she had raved about the place.

The place is great for all wine & cheese lovers. There is plenty of choice for good wine at the shop, and you can have it in the restaurant for a small corkage fee. Lunch menu is great and the food is always delicious. I have not had dinner there, however the cheese & meats platter goes really well with few glasses of wine after work. Book a table if you are planning to go there during the week.

The place is nice but quite narrow .They offer cheese & cold meats platers as well as traditional french dishes , they also offer a very good selection of affordable wines. We had the confit duck and the pomme de terre savoyardes. The confit duck was good put the potato dish was really not great , the cream was too liquid , not much cheese , the potatoes were undercooked and it did not have all the ingredient from the traditional savoyarde recipe. We should have stick to the sharing platters.Service was efficient and friendly. The prices are reasonnable.A good option for lunch if you work in the area.

Time was when Nicolas, a successful Parisian chain of wine retailers and bistros, spawned a number of branches across London. I recall one atbtheclower end of the King's Road in Chelsea. Whilst I believe there may still be some other Nicolas wine retailers left, this is the only one which, to my knowledge, also serves food. On entering this unit to the side of a cul-de-sac corridor one might be forgiven, but for the menus, outside, that this too now only sold wine. For apart from a few tables outside and a few more in a small room at the back, this feels less like a restaurant and more like a corridor, so narrow is the space able only to accommodate a few tables either side. As one might expect the wine list is extensive. It offers wine by the glass, 500ml carafe as well as by bottle. The menu runs from a number of charcuterie platters, probably good for sharing, to a range of traditional French staples from which I chose the cassoulet. Unlike another reviewer I had no complaints about the portion, as I received a large ceramic dish with a base of white beans upon which were two limbs of crispy duck leg and some sausage. With a glass of Rioja and a double espresso the bill came to £18 which I thought was quite reasonable given the standard of the cooking. Pity, though, about the confined space. Service was polite and efficient throughout.

Love love love this place for it's great selection of wine - varies from incredibly affordable to 'just won the lottery'. Just pick your bottle from the shop and grab a table. Great for a gossip with your friends over a few glasses and some decent cheeses. Other bars in the wharf tend to be a little too noisy. It's very small, so book a table in advance if you're going in a group. And either eat beforehand or plan for a dinner after - unless a few bits of cheese and bread can satiate you! I've never had any of the other food there - I wouldn't really consider it a 'proper' restaurant. and yes, it can feel a little like you're drinking in a shop, probably because you are, but it's worth it for the great selection - and you soon get used to it and it can feel quite snug.Really friendly staff too.

This is one of the nicest places to go for a glass of wine in Canary Wharf! It's a wine shop but has a lovely bar attached which does wine by the glass and lovely French food (great things to share including charcuterie and cheeseboards too). Or you can choose a bottle of wine from the shop itself and there's a small corkage fee. Nice atmosphere, great food and excellent value if you want a good quality wine whilst you have a chat with friends!

This is my favorite lunch place in Canary Wharf, sadly I go to Pret most of the time, but if you have a bit more time, go here. No windows to the outside and tucked away in a corner it does not look like much, but it has a good amosphere, private and always busy.
