Just like when i was a young lad, fish and chip van stopping here and there serving great food, was told by a lady in the butchers in Rothbury to look on the website and then you know where he will be, did not let us down, lovely fresh fish.

Just returned from Bewicks Rothbury. Wanted a lunchtime sandwich and drink, told theyâve never been asked for a cold sandwich before (!) but agreed to have a cheese toastie. A small very stale untoasted sourdough sandwich with an equally small amount of grated cheese arrived which I returned as inedible. My daughter ordered an iced coffee which arrived hot and was replaced with ice cubes floating on the top. Her avocado on toast was minuscule surrounded by superfluous, pretentious garnish rather than a decent serving of avocado toast (costing ÂŁ8.50). What has happened to Bewicks? Used to be good but is now mediocre at best with prices that arenât justifiable.

A Christmas treat! A very friendly, comfortable dinning room with fantastic views. Delicious food, good sized portions, well presented. Must try the Christmas menu, seafood cocktail or haggis bon bons for starter and of course delicious turkey. Although all the other options looked delicious too. Great selection of deserts to follow. A real gem, cant wait to try the Sunday lunch venue in the new year.

Nearest pub to our accomodation, spent several evenings here chatting with the locals and enjoying local ales. We had the pie off the day (steak and ale) one evening and it was delicious. Definitely more steak than you usually get in a pie. Had to have several more drinks before heading home else we would have needed a push up the hills!! Nice little corner with local products in the coffee shop area, cakes looked rather tasty but we were only in of the evenings.

Visited Easter Saturday and yes it was busy, I went to find a table as I have limited mobility. My husband waited in the queue. It took just over half an hour to order 2 teas and 2 slices of cake! A gentleman in front wanted discount which caused total uproar as the staff couldn't figure out how to do it on the tills.. this resulted in both tills being rebooted! Utterly ridiculous, the queue was now out the door and right across the courtyard.

Must admit to being a little disappointed. The English breakfast was OK but the bacon was so well done it was brittle. The sausages were delicious. The eggs benedict came with no hollandaise sauce which we found strange The service was really good, we couldn't fault the guy who served us. Very expensiveđł

This small family-run delicatessen is a great place to shop locally for wholefoods and locally produced goods, including hand-made bread, local jam, honey and chutneys, biscuits and cakes, various local beers and other drinks, cheese and meat as well as plenty of ideas for small gifts. There are also a good number of vegetarian products. Plenty of non-food items too such as genuinely environmentally friendly household cleaning, soap, toiletries, even socks! Really amazing what is contained in this TARDIS-like shop! There is a cafĂ© in the back of the shop which is popular with walkers (I canât comment as I havenât been to the cafĂ© myself), and also a separate counter for buying loose local cheese and thereâs always a great selection including my favourite Cuddyâs Cave. The one gripe I have being the use of throwaway plastic wrap/cling film in an otherwise very environmentally friendly shop. I must mention the fantastic âtea wallâ (as I call it), a large section of shelving containing such a huge range of tea, including herbal and fruit teas (sadly no Dr Stuartâs recently so I have had to buy online). There is also a range of locally roasted coffee. Although we prefer to buy from small local businesses can be difficult to get what we need locally (we arenât fans of the one local supermarket at all) so Tullyâs is really good to pop into for certain items. All in all itâs an essential local store which I enjoy visiting. We recently had family visiting from the Netherlands who enjoyed visiting Tullyâs too.
