The best restaurants serving British food in Rothbury Northumberland North East

Just like when i was a young lad, fish and chip van stopping here and there serving great food, was told by a lady in the butchers in Rothbury to look on the website and then you know where he will be, did not let us down, lovely fresh fish.

We have never been before but what a lovely surprise. The building looks very old from the outside but fantastic inside.

A Christmas treat! A very friendly, comfortable dinning room with fantastic views. Delicious food, good sized portions, well presented. Must try the Christmas menu, seafood cocktail or haggis bon bons for starter and of course delicious turkey. Although all the other options looked delicious too. Great selection of deserts to follow. A real gem, cant wait to try the Sunday lunch venue in the new year.

Nearest pub to our accomodation, spent several evenings here chatting with the locals and enjoying local ales. We had the pie off the day (steak and ale) one evening and it was delicious. Definitely more steak than you usually get in a pie. Had to have several more drinks before heading home else we would have needed a push up the hills!! Nice little corner with local products in the coffee shop area, cakes looked rather tasty but we were only in of the evenings.

I'm writing this as there aren't many reviews food is always excellent run by geordie ratcliffe as this was his late wife's cafe for years he runs the cafe as Jeanette would i may be a friend but he serves excellent food keep up the good work geordie see you tomorrow morning around 9.30a.m

They hosted a group dinner for approximately 40 people that they couldn't manage at all. The pizza was older than Lord Armstrong himself. I don't think the 'stew' can actually be defined as stew, just beef and mushrooms with gravy. Half of us finished our mains before the other half were served, and the restaurant obviously tried to serve us all at once. The service was just extremely slow. They also lost the main one of our group had ordered. One person ordered a gluten free cheesecake and the restaurant didn't actually have it. Half the times we went to the bar for drinks it was unattended.

We was celebrating a birthday in a group of 7 women. The place was beautiful, clean, spacious and well cared for. We had an amazing party in the massive kitchen. The living room is huge and stunning. The bedrooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, with comfy beds. We also went to the pub below, the locals was so friendly and the bar staff was outstanding.

Whatever has happened to this cafe? We come here several times each year and have always enjoyed good food well cooked and served. Our visit last week was awful, I don’t mind waiting for my food to be served but I would like it to be hot when I get it. The young lady who served us didn’t seem to know what she was doing, her personal hygiene has a lot to answer for as she had her hands all over her mouth and face before our order eventually arrived,she was not wearing gloves and transferred our order from a plate to takeaway boxes with her bare hands after dealing with cash and cards. Think carefully before you eat in this place
