They hosted a group dinner for approximately 40 people that they couldn't manage at all. The pizza was older than Lord Armstrong himself. I don't think the 'stew' can actually be defined as stew, just beef and mushrooms with gravy. Half of us finished our mains before the other half were served, and the restaurant obviously tried to serve us all at once. The service was just extremely slow. They also lost the main one of our group had ordered. One person ordered a gluten free cheesecake and the restaurant didn't actually have it. Half the times we went to the bar for drinks it was unattended.

Not recommended if you actually want somewhere to stay. Arrived at the hotel which we had pre-booked and paid for after a full day of travel only to be met with a sign ‘Closed for renovations’. We were given no notification or communication. So I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We were told it recently changed hands so assuming positive reviews were for the previous owner.

We visited Rothbury for a couple of nights stay and decided on Armstrong Manor. Note that at present it is not open until 4p.m. due to staff shortages. However, we received a very warm welcome from Andy and Ashley. Room was nice and clean, all ready for use. Lovely large bedroom with bath and a walk in shower. Food was excellent, they have found a great chef. Good range of beers etc. Although it is still a "work in progress", there is quite a bit of work to be done behind the scenes, it was a great stay and we will be returning later in the year. I wish then every success in turning this hotel into the hotel of their dreams.

Just had a lovely meal at the Coquetvale Hotel Restaurant and can highly recommend the fish (very fresh haddock) and chips from the regular menu, and also the lemon and lime crusted salmon with hollandaise sauce, asparagus and new potatoes. Both meals were delicious.

I visited Rothbury for the week with my partner. I booked a table for Thursday 17th September. There was a deal on for Thursday nights which was two steaks and a bottle of wine for £40 so we took advantage of this and we also had a dessert. The food was delicious. Our waiter who said he'd only just started working there was very friendly and took time to ask us about our holiday. I would highly reccomend this restaurant.

Please take the above fully into account before booking. Disliked · No atmosphere in the restaurant, like a morgue, very austere, food for evening meal well below standard however all the money !!Breakfast one morning after an hour waiting for the main course i gave up & left.Make your own mind up--duty manager slept in, chef apparently did which left Josh trying to do almost everything including checking people out, collecting bags, serving breakfast, Josh did well which is far more than anyone else !!All other hotels & B&B's have advised me in advance if there are any changes due to Covid, not the Coquetvale !! I was greeted by-- we are not providing room service including cleaning during your stay. Communication with customers in any business is keyOutside there is a super terrace & garden area but not looked after & shabby, this could be such a bonus & crowd pleaser. This is an honest open review which i hope the hotel will learn from for other future guests to benefit. At a time when so many people are staying in the UK its time to man up, provide a good quality, service & facilities which can only benefit both the business & clients. People do have a choice & they will vote with there feet if they are not happy & satisfied.

The only problem with the coquetvale hotel restaurant is that preference is given to residents so reservations are difficult to obtain. The food we had was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. There was excellent covid awareness. The dining room is pleasant and we were fortunate to be seated in the window with good views.

It's very rare to stay one night and know the names of all the staff, but we were made to feel so much at home it came naturally. The room was lovely, with spectacular views across the valley. The food was spectacular and delicious. We were looking for a late lunch stop and called in at the Coquetvale Hotel. The entrance is a little tired and you have to go upstairs to the main reception and restaurant/bar. However, once we got upstairs we were impressed with the lovely big and open room spaces and the warm and friendly service as well. We ordered two starters each, the soup of the day, for both of us then gravadlax and warm goat cheese & onion chutney tart, and all were delicious and obviously home made. Very nice.

Stayed here for one Sunday evening. Room nice and clean, pressed bed sheets. All staff very pleasant and friendly. They stop serving food at 8pm on a Sunday so be aware. The food itself was fabulous. I started with a lovely mackerel and dill on a house salad, my partner a goats cheese tart. We both had the roast beef for our main. Could not complain at all. Complimented the chef that it had been the best meal we’ve had out in a long time. Highly recommended. Breakfast was also good. Be warned if you get a large breakfast (£3 supplement) it comes with two of everything so you best be hungry. Would definitely stay again.

The restaurant in the Coquetvale Hotel was suggested as an alternative to the rather lacklustre pub restaurants in the village. Certainly the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff is infinitely better - the food is also better and could have been exceptional but for a few niggles - avocado was not quite ripe - pork and duck were both slightly overdone - not bad enough for a complaint but it took the edge off what should have been exceptional. If they can tighten up the kitchen, this could be a seriously good restaurant.

Stayed here for two nights on a short break voucher. Check in was easy and Steve gave us a friendly and cheerful welcome. Our room was at the very top of the hotel and was spacious and comfortable. If there were any guests in the adjoining rooms we didn’t hear them. We used the tea making facilities and had the biscuits; everything was replenished the next day.The hotel is well maintained with good decor. I also noticed that all the windows had been replaced so no draughts, all done in a sympathetic style. We enjoyed a great afternoon tea at a table in the bar area; good selection of sandwiches, cakes etc.Didn’t try the restaurant; the menu looked ok, but was a bit pricey and the area a bit formal for what we were looking for on a Saturday night. We ventured into town and had live music. If you are going to stay here I would recommend you choose your room and don’t go for the loft ones. Pictures show roll-top baths in en-suites, but we just had a shower and the rest of the fittings were cheap and cheerful. Also I don’t think that there was a lift up to the loft rooms. It also sounded as if all of the hot and cold water was controlled nearby and possibly a macerator in one of the neighbouring rooms’ en-suite as you could hear a grinding noise every few minutes. Not ideal. The bed was very comfortable and we still managed to sleep well. All in all, an enjoyable stay.

As some previous reviews the restaurant was pleasantly decorated but empty. We were visitors to Rothbury so decided to give it a go. The pricing of the menu was odd, £19 for one course, £26 for two and £29 for three courses. Goats cheese tart was a good starter. For mains we had the lamb. Well, it was enough meat for 2 people with 2 spears of asparagus, fennel, and an orange smear of something, NO potatoes. I had the dry chicken with too many potatoes and over cooked broccoli. I would not recommend this restaurant. A shame as the serving staff were excellent.

As Rothbury residents we have visited the Coquetvale off and on over the last 8 years. Through from the faux Italian to the current day restaurant. Due to a closure of our favourite eatery we headed the CVale more in hope than expectation. Let’s deal with the positives. This is beautiful room with a great view of the Northern hills. It has been tastefully redecorated and is a good room to eat in. The food was good but not great. Between us we had the soup and haggis followed by the lamb and beef. The lamb was a little lonely on the plate but nothing to complain about. The negatives? The owners seem intent to not understand the local market and what diners want. At £26 for two courses the pricing is at the top end and in excess of what people are expecting to spend. For that money it needs to be great. It isn’t. What this means is that the room is empty. We arrived a little early for a table booked for 7pm and had a drink in the bar. Having ordered we were taken to our table in the empty dining room. We asked if we could sit at a table for four in the window but were politely but firmly declined as ‘other diners were coming’. Not so. Only as we were finishing up did a party of four arrive. Apart from that. Not a soul. I really want this place to succeed but would recommend that they address the pricing without going down the standard pasta and pizza route (that job is already well served in the village with someone else seeing the gap in the market). As a piece of customer service it was at best clumsy and with so few customers give the ones you have a little love local word of mouth counts for a lot. We certainly shared our experience with the people that we met in the pub after. With the right offer and pricing and service this is a venue that could be successful. The owners have surveyed guests previously, we have spoken openly and positively to the owner on previous visits. It’s just not there yet. Out of town visitors will support but to thrive this place needs to re-engage with residents who want to eat out 12 months a year. I genuinely want this place to succeed. I hope this is heard.

The hotel bar itself is a perfect relaxing place to unwind, with very comfortable seating and stunning views! It’s set in an idyllic location within walking distance of rothbury village and the river is pretty much right in front of it. Having stayed in rothbury a lot from being a child, I definitely think this place is a one to try, it brings class and luxury into a beautiful little village......... if you want to spoil your loved one this is the place to do it!! My wife and I dropped in for dinner on a Monday evening. Service was friendly and welcoming. The food was superb! I had a hearty, flavorful, homemade potato and leek soup, followed by a spaghetti carbonara that was smokey, incredibly tasty, and perfectly prepared. The chef's secret is that he doesn't use pancetta (as is usual in carbonara) but some deeply smoked, presumably English, bacon. You won't believe the marvelous aroma that floats up from this scrumptious dish. My wife's lamb was fresh, flavorful and perfectly done, accompanied by lovely roasted fresh veggies. Hi As it was our wedding anniversary my husband decided to try the Coquetdale restaurant again, as we were regular costumers in the past. We were so disappointed, the refurbished dinning room looked lovely, we were ushered to our table by a rather nervous waiter - didn't inspire confidence - but things settled down - nicely presented meals but one was only tepid, so disappointing, the other very pleasant. No halfway "everything OK?" otherwise it might have been sorted. Our waitress eventually dealt with this brilliantly, well done her, offered us 2 sweet courses, no charge.Nonetheless, we will return.

We were a family group of ten, booked for Mother's Day lunch and the first group to arrive. The hotel had made a n event out of the day with a pianist (very good, especially the Bach), little pots of primulas given to each 'mother' in the group and very attentive service. Unfortunately the quality of the food didn't live up to the service. Quantity seemed to over rule quality as the portions were all huge. Several of us had roast beef which one would expect to be thinly sliced and tenderly pink in the centre. This was cut as doorsteps, dry and grey. My plate of food arrived cold and I warmed it up with extra gravy. Others had confit of duck with stir fry vegetables which they reported as being very bland. When they asked for soy sauce there was none available but a sweet chilly sauce was provided. The desserts were simple and fine, nothing special. When we asked for coffees and some of the party asked for expresso we were told that the hotel is getting a machine soon! So we had to accept slightly stewed filter coffee instead. So I wouldn't go there again despite the nice little touches from front of house. The kitchen needs to up it's game to match the service.

The menu is English and Italian, enough choices, a good selection of wine although none from the UK. Had the duck pate which was nice and a little sweet. The steak was medium cooked and very tender. As a desert had the selection of cheese, although there are some great local cheeses, I couldn't recognize them on the plater. Some fruit/berries with it and a port made it delicious. It is a lovely restaurant with some good food.

I returned to the Coquetvale after quite a long absence as it has changed ownership several times and not always for the better. The last time I went was about 3 years ago I think and after 2 or 3 visits I was pretty bored with the menu to be honest. Anyway there is a new chef and new staff and its all been smartened up and of course there's a lovely new menu. Not a massive choice but very good nevertheless. My mum and I both had Confit Duck with potatoes and stir fried veg and we both enjoyed it very much. We then had the Raspberry Pavlova which wasn't like any pavlova I've had before, it was more of an iced dessert but very nice and beautifully served.Excellent service from very friendly staff, so all in all, a successful evening. I do hope it stays the course this time as Rothbury needs a place like this. Go and try it, I think you;ll like it.

I guess that it's always a bad idea to be on the last table in a restaurant, though booking for 8pm usually means that it shouldn't happen. It did, though: Midweek in Rothbury can clearly be early going-home night! The food was reasonable. My wife and I took a friend, hoping to impress her with the local Rothbury food. Two of us had steak, the third opted for seafood. Everything was OK, especially considering the prices. We could easily have paid 20/30% more locally, so bouquets are in order there. I'd also compliment the decoration and ambience: this restaurant used to be rather dark and unwelcoming but is now much lighter and brighter. Service did not impress so much, though. The place was not very full, which you might think gives waiting staff more time to do the job properly. Alas, it can just as easily have a demoralising effect, especially as home-time approaches and people spend more time looking at the clock than attending to customers. This was very much the back end of the season with few holidaymakers about. At that time, there isn;t much to motivate waiters or chefs. Maybe that explains some of what we experienced.Even in the beginning, service was OK but, somehow, didn't feel very warm and friendly...nothing you could put your finger on - just a feeling that something wasn't quite right. Soon, only one other table was occupied and, once that had been vacated, a definite atmosphere of "here's your hat, what's your hurry" could be felt. My wife decided that it would be easier to take the rest of her steak home, rather than feel the pressure to eat up asap. The steak was duly packed up and handed over (reluctantly/with some amusement???) and we were happy to pay and exit, just as the staff would be equally happy to pack up and go, perhaps. Was this typical, or a one-off low-season/midweek phenomenon. I don't know but can't say I'd be anxious to go back and find out. To be fair, the restaurant has not always had a good name in the past but recently the locals seem to be more generous with their praise than they used to be, so you would imagine that it has improved.I'd have loved to give it a 4 but sadly, on the night, a 3 seemed more appropriate.

We came upon the Coquetvale by chance when out walking and called in for a drink. Really liked the place, looked smart and modern and decided to book a meal for later. We were given a good table by a window when we arrived and the waiter was friendly and helpful. But then we started to notice a few things, like the wine glasses on the tables were all mismatched, some were tulip shaped white wine glasses and some were bulb shaped red wine glasses, just apparently random. Similarly, the cutlery was mismatched, different knives and/or forks on the same table. Not important really, just odd. More importantly, my wife's glass was dirty. So she changed it for one on another table. Then I noticed that my knife had someone else's dinner still stuck to it. So I changed that for one on another table. Then my wife noticed that her fork prongs were bent. So she went to change that too, but the fork she picked up on another table was dirty. Eventually we ended up with clean cutlery and glasses and we could concentrate on the food! I had a smoked salmon starter and my wife had garlic bread with cheese, both good. For mains, my wife had tempura salmon and monkfish with skinny fries and tartare sauce and horseradish mayo, which was OK, and I had a roast beef dinner, which was a generous portion, but the beef was a bit chewy. Still liked the place, no problem with the food really, lovely décor and a nice quiet atmosphere, but I do think that, for that calibre of hotel, someone in charge of the dining room really needs to pay more attention to detail.

A special treat for my wife's birthday. Had heard good reports of this restaurant, and as my wife and I both love Italian food booked for her birthday.Shown to comfortable wing chair in the bar area, with a Moretti beer to drink while choosing our meals.I decided on the Arachini to start, my wife wanted dessert, so no starter for her. My Arachini, fried balls of risotto with soft cheese inside absolutely marvellous, with a beetroot reduction underneath, a real treat. For main course my wife chose buttered monkfish with a tomato sauce, new potatoes and salad. She loved it, and proceeded to make it disappear with great speed. My main course was Moules et frite, I know it's Belgian, but it was wonderful. Served in a white wine and cream sauce, there was a bucketful of mussels and a large plate of skinny fries. I have eaten a lot of mussels over the years they were the best, meaty and fresh. Excellent. My wife had passion fruit cheese cake for dessert, a work of art on a plate well flavoured, and a absolute treat for the eyes as well.Again she made it disappear very quickly.A bottle of Old Press Shriaz alongside, our meal was complete. We would have had a cappachino each, but the machine was out of order.Overall excellent and good value too.

Stayed for three nights - brilliant time until the last night. Told by a member of staff bar was closing at 10.00 pm ( two of us wanted a pint the othervtwo, myself and my friend wanted tea ) she was tired and had to get up early and as she was closing the bar area too we would have to take our drinks upstairs to our rooms !!!! Never been sent to bed before when we have been away : ( Complaining to ower next morning wasn't much better and think both could benefit from some training on Customer Care and most importantly PEOPLE SKILLS !!!! Don't think we will be returning as planned at Christmas !!!

We really enjoyed our stay. Room was very pleasant with comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. We ate in the restaurant on two evenings and found the food to be well cooked and well presented. The staff are excellent and very friendly. The hotel is well situated for visits to Gragside and Alnwick castle, and is only a short walk into Rothbury.

This is a really beautiful old building in Rothbury. As with all older hotels there were a few places where a lick of paint would improve the place but in general all was okay and very clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place had a great vibe. We did not eat in the restaurant but had the breakfast. This was a while coming but worth the wait as it was excellent.I did feel that on some minor points the place let itself down, the TV in our room did not work I assume because the batteries in the remote were goosed. The room light had a couple of bulbs out and the rest were a miss match of bulb types. There was coffee and tea in the room but no milk. Was this a huge tragedy to us or spoil our stay? Not at all!But small details like this make the difference between a great first impression or leaving you with the feeling the place is a little "run down". These issues could so easily be fixed. That said all in all it is a good hotel. The staff were the stars who were cheerful, helpful and gave the impression they wanted to give their best. Would I stay here again.. Absolutely!

We stayed at the Coquetvale Hotel following a visit to Cragside House and gardens for our 28th wedding anniversary. The room was lovely with en-suite bath and shower room. The decor was lovely, with a lovely comfortable bed. T.v and tea and coffee making facilities. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant., enjoying three courses and a couple of bottles of wine. The overall atmosphere in the restaurant was friendly and comfortable with comfy seating in the Barr area to enjoy our after meal drinks. The food was second to none and the service impeccable. Five star food, reasonably priced. Breakfast! The following morning (included in the price of our stay) was delicious, with all the trimmings associated with a full cooked breakfast. We could not find fault with anything and would definitely recommend the Coquetvale as a lovely place to stay and eat.

Called In and tried the set menu. Starter was average but edible. My main course was a margarita pizza. Horrendous topped with cold slices of tomato. Desert of apple crumble was a tin of stewed apple topped with un cooked flour and sugar served with tinned custard. Nothing was cooked fresh and pasta sauce out of jars.Couple on the next table threatened to leave if food did not arrive within a few minutes. Worst meal in years.

We ate here whilst staying in Rothbury for my husband's birthday. We had previously stayed at this hotel twice before and eaten here once before but decided to try the new table d'hote menu on this occasion. On arrival there was unfortunately a power cut just as we were seated which left us sitting wondering if the chef could still cook. The waiter took our drinks order just before the power cut but we never received them. It took a different waitress to take our order again and bring our drinks. We had also been given two different menus so we had to ask which menu was actually in use and had to be clarified by the chef. Once we placed our orders after the confusion, we really enjoyed the food. We both had potato skins for starters which were presented really well and tasted very nice followed by a main course of pork belly with black pudding mash and vegetables. The vegetables were slightly undercooked and hard and I would have preferred them a little softer but apart from that, the main course was delicious and the portion size was huge! We both had apple pie for dessert which was equally delicious.

Visited this hotel for an evening meal in their restaurant. The food is very, very good. We had the 3 course Table D'Hote menu and were very pleasantly surprised by the standard of food and portion size of the starter and dessert in particular. We paid extra to have rib-eye steak for our main course and it was worth every penny....cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth. My only slight criticism (and it is slight) is that, although the steak came with a tomato and mushroom, I would have liked some vegetables included and a choice of potato. For anybody who likes ginger I would highly recommend the Lemon & Ginger Cheesecake for dessert...it was easily the best cheesecake that has ever passed my lips! The restaurant in itself is quite impressive and on the night we visited there was a local singer/guitarist providing some very appropriate background music. It is a bit of a trek to Rothbury but it is well worth the visit.

I liked this hotel - it's not the plushest hotel I've ever stayed in but had a nice feel to it. The location was good - less than a five minute walk from the Main Street. The room was ok and had everything you might need. The breakfast was good and the bed really comfortable. The staff were lovely too. I would stay again.

I booked this restaurant for a Saturday evening for an anniversary dinner for me and my partner. The restaurant was absolutely freezing. There was nothing wrong with the food although the menu was limited. There was no atmosphere and so the restaurant felt unwelcoming and we just ate and left.

Italian themed menu for dinner, and the food was wonderful! I had a pork terrine starter, my wife had the duck pate, and both were simply superb! For mains we had the burger and my wife the chicken breast specials, and both were absolutely great! The next morning we had breakfast as well, the full Northumberland (full English) and the sausages were incredible. Wine was very reasonable and good and the bar is a gem with suburb drinks. One may get the impression I liked this place! I did and I hope to return.

We have eaten here a couple of times a year for the last five or six years. It was good, changed hands and since then we've always been disappointed but keep going back in the hope that it will get better. We will never go there again unless there are some big changes. The menu we were offered was a very reduced version of the one we saw on the website. We were told the reason for this was that there was only once chef on, and the website is out of date - two very different reasons which have nothing to do with each other, so rather confusing! They need to understand that people may have travelled some distance and chosen the restaurant on the strength of what they read on the website. It's clearly acceptable for it not to be exactly the same, but to have such a very reduced menu is not. There was nothing that we couldn't have cooked ourselves at home, and reading the other reviews we'd have cooked it better! We were the only people there, so there was no atmosphere. There was also a small girl sitting in the corner of the bar, playing on a laptop. Whilst I understand that this may have been a child-care emergency, and the only way her mum could come to work, it really isn't the way to run a restaurant. We had ordered a bottle of wine and olives (which weren't on the menu but served when we asked for them) before we'd read the menu. We decided not to eat there, despite having booked, finished our olives, put the lid on the wine bottle, and went to eat in the Newcastle pub in the village where we had an excellent meal!

Limited menu, but that usually means good food! The Pizzas were nice. Unfortunately the chips we ordered came out as wedges - just like at the restaurant we ate at the night before. I'm getting concerned all northern restaurants have ditched chips for wedges! Bring back chips!

The wife and I thought we'd try this out last night using a Groupon offer for a 3 course set menu and glass of wine each. The place looked smart but there was only one member of service staff. As the place became busier she was clearly under increasing pressure and through no fault of her own, unable to cope and service was poor the reason we did not leave a tip on principle (I tip generously when the service is good). The menu was a typical set menu except the mains consisted of 2 pizza options, pasta, beef burger, duck and steak but the steak was unavailable. I don't feel that Britalien works personally and would certainly expect more than a pizza, pasta or beefburger for a set menu main course. The only substantial option appeared to be duck which we both ordered. Some time later the waitress returned to say only one duck option was available - reminded me if a certain TV establishment located in Torquay in that respect only. My wife was prepared to accept a Margarita Pizza instead which in her words was "uninspiring". It would have been much improved with addition of chopped tomatos. My duck was good and done in quite a gourmet style. This is the reason I have upped the score from one star to two but the last decent main option of the night sadly for anyone other than the beef burger perhaps which turned out to be quite popular amongst the later diners. Why the heck do they serve the duck on a slate as I was forever using a knife to stop the runny gravy provided from running onto the table, The wooden board for the pizza also seemed unnecessary and smelt - how are these cleaned? Warm plates would have been more than adequate in view of the unpretentious food on offer. My starter of risotto with mushrooms was undercooked with crunchy rice and chewy mushrooms. I was unusually only able to eat half of the starter because of this but ate half of my wife's cheesy garlic bread as she was not so keen on it.So on to the sweets which were the relative highlight - lovely local ice cream for my wife and home made cheesecake for me which was delightful. This would have been improved if the blackcurrents over the top were omitted as the strong ginger within and the champangne sorbet alone would have been enough of a flavour experience. The addition of stewed blackcurrents over the top that was too much. That said this delightful homemade cheesecake and the lovely local ice cream achieve in my opinion the standard this establishment seems to be trying to aspire to but unfortunately failed to last night in the other areas mentioned. Later in the evening, an additional member of staff was drafted in more by accident than design (the poor lad popped in on his day off) the service and atmosphere improved. In summary there seems so much potential here but this is being undermined by a complete lack of staff and poor menu choices in particular.I would consider returning if a selection of English dishes were on offer, tye service better and the chef who had ckearly already been told about undercooking his risotto would cook my favourite dish properly.I have never see a dual food restaurant work - in my previous experience it simply does both poorly. It seems to me that the restaurant would make an excellent and unpretentious English restaurant.

Just returned from another visit to The Coquetvale. A true home from home with a warm welcome and an amazing restaurant. The menu is a little limited but I've always been happy with everything this time I'd opted for the steak which was cooked to perfection and served with tasty hand cut chips. Probably full of calories but well worth it! Can't wait for my next visit!

My wife and I took advantage of a Groupon offer and stayed at the Coquetvale Hotel on Friday & Saturday 22nd & 23rd JanuaryWhat a pleasant surprise it was - newly refurbished to a very good standard and with a very classy feel about the place, especially in the public roomsWe ate in the restaurant on Friday night and both had an absolutely gorgeous meal, freshly prepared by the chef, Michael, who has only just taken on the role in the last couple of weeks, and who fully demonstrated his excellent culinary skills with two superb plates of piping hot delicious food.To be super critical, the menu was limited, but Michael came to chat to us after his shift, a very nice young man who has plans to expand the range of food on offer as he develops the menu and makes it his own - but we did eat elsewhere on Saturday. The service throughout the weekend was top class and the breakfasts were as good if not better than the meal we enjoyed on the Friday night.Overall a very nice experience and I think the next time my wife and I fancy a short break we would not hesitate in returning to the Coquetvale in the future and hopefully trying he expanded Menu that Michael is planning

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.
