Very nice lady at the window today who served us!! Ice cream was perfect!!!

Lovely Ice cream, there was a queue and you can tell why. I had a banana ripple and my partner had a black cherry ice cream.

Used the ice cream van in the harbour. Items not as listed on menu but excellent quality. I asked for a ‘99, expecting Mr Whippy style ice cream however I received a double scoop of soft serve on a cone instead. Was a delicious substitute, just not expected

This ice cream is by far the best we have ever had. On a lovely sunny day an ice cream with a flake cannot be beaten. The staff were friendly to. Give it a try

Absolutely no complaint about the ice cream, very nice. However, we were served by a young lad who seemed very unhappy to be there. Impolite and rude, and just wasn’t very pleasant. I understand he was young and inexperienced in customer service but it was disappointing.

The ice creams were great. The cappuccino was volcanically hot - I burnt my mouth and my hand. Please train your staff in using a thermometer.

I forgot to take a photo!!! We had a flavour burst ice cream (just like the photos others have uploaded). Hubby had strawberry and I had coconut. These have to be one of the nicest ice creams we've had and they were huge. Great value for money. And we was served by a lovely lady, who was very polite and full of smiles. Will definitely be going back before we go home!

Incredible mocha. Lovely rich and almost rum-y flavour. Was not expecting anything above an average coffee but this was just something else. Cracking!

Amazing ice cream, thank goodness we're not closer or our waist lines would be huge! We were staying in a self catering on main street so just a minutes walk away.

I haven’t visited Coxons for years, but the wait was worth it! The ice cream is super tasty, with plenty of options available. Staff are friendly and chatty. Worth a visit!

It’s advertised as an award winning artisan ice cream. It’s really not! Would probably slightly prefer it to Walls (just), but otherwise would rather pick up some Haagen Daas up from the Coop!

I can see we aren't the first to complain about the terrible service, but I think our experience has to be the worst. As we were close by the shop, I let my 10 yr old son take some money to buy himself an ice cream at the shop's kiosk. He paid with the £20 note I had given him (which was all I had at the time) and had £2 of his own money with him. Bless him, he handed it all over to the young girl who was serving - he has seen me give extra change in shops and thought he was helping. He should have returned with £19.40 (ice creams are £2.60) but had only been given £7.40. I went to the shop with him, fully expecting a cheerful apology and an immediate refund. I am not easily shocked but the young girl who had served him said she had given him £8 change, she then changed this to £7, she then fell silent and just started rolling her eyes at her friend, also serving. The friend - also very young - offered absolutely no apology or even asked about the money owed but said: "You wouldn't be the first person trying to rob us". She followed this with an equally galling..."And I'm inclined to believe my staff over you." At this point feeling he had been accused of lying (and stealing), my boy burst into tears and I genuinely didn't know what to do next. I asked them to check the till as this would show clearly, that the sum of £22 had been paid just minutes previously - the girl looked in the direction of the screen but ignored my request. I now wonder if she knew how to check the till roll and suspect not. Eventually, as the queue of people started to build, I was grudgingly handed £10, with more eye rolling between the staff. I explained this wasn't enough and a fiver appeared. I outlined the basic calculation for them and a few more coins appeared - still not the full amount. After a few more minutes we finally arrived at £19.40 and I said thank you and took my devastated boy out of that awful place. I realise it can be hard to get seasonal staff but if you are not prepared to provide basic customer training, it is never worth hiring young people who have no experience - or interest - in doing their job properly. Please don't support this dreadful business - there are much friendlier places in Seahouses with much better quality ice cream. I would hate someone else to have to go through this stress.

Nice enough but ice cream is soft serve.

The ice cream is great, especially the flavour blasts. The children had to go every day we were there to try out all the different flavours, even in the rain.

I had a can of coke from coxtons on Thursday I found the price very cheap and reasonable and I saw friendly fit young female cafe worker who served and she so stunning when I was talking to her I said to her you look nice and she said to me thank you

Not sure what the ice cream is like, ordered coffee to take away walked to beach to drink it, tasted like dishwater went straight in the bin.

Take away Ice cream and coffee house, We had two large cornets, one being the Cherry, think I made the wrong choice. Staff we ok and servers was fasted

Our favourite holiday ice cream destination massively disappointed last week. We queued for a reasonable amount of time in bright warm sunshine, not a care in the world. Got within two of the front of the queue and watched the lady take cash from the customer. Paid close attention just in case and unfortunately she immediately served the person in front. This was just after handling cash - coins and notes. Thee was no hand washing carried out, no sanitising and no gloves In sight. We were devastated and walked away. Suggest you check for policy change before buying at the window.

Lovely ice cream but ordered 2 small and one larger cone today and was charged for 3 large cones ,£9.90 didnt realise until checked my statement. Check machine before tapping !

I was pleasantly surprised they did a gluten free cone and it was delicious! The ice cream was flavourful too.

I’ve been going to Seahouses for years and I tell my grandchildren that a visit to Seahouses is not complete without buying ‘a Coxon’s’. By this I mean the vanilla ice cream: whether it be in a tub or in a cone, it is delicious. Excellent texture, taste and temperature. I would like to make a COVID-19 safety suggestion. I think the cones should not be picked up with an unprotected hand, they should ideally be picked up using a napkin and then taken for filling with ice cream. I’m looking forward to my next visit at the end of July.

I have no idea what the negative reviews are all about? Did they not get their ice cream in 2.3 seconds flat?I've been a couple of times to Coxons and I've never had a bad experience. The food is lovely, the ice cream is delicious and the staff are a friendly bunch. Never rude and happy to help.Give them a go, you won't be disappointed.

Wanted to buy 2 ice creams to take out on Sunday at 3.50. The young man was rather rude saying “ we’re shut” even though it doesn’t close until 4pm and a gentleman had just carried out ice creams as we approached the door. Obviously making to much money and not wanting our custom and my business would not tolerate such customer service!!

Good selection in sandwiches and cake

Where do I start. It wasnt busy so as a family of three we were outnumbered by staff who were totally disinterested in any form of customer engagement, totally oblivious to the niceties of the environment they were in. A very basic menu, well overpriced, sticky tables and with no ability to pay by card it doesn't have a lot going for it.

Reviewing based on the ice cream, I expected a rich scoop of chocolate ice cream for £3:60, I received a Mr Whippy style ice cream with chocolate flavouring mixed in, it should have been 99p considering you can get that in an ice cream van, most disappointing ice cream I have ever purchased.

Whilst holidaying in Northumberland we visited Seahouses. We decided to have an ice cream from Coxons, but were very disappointed - we had the mint, which was from a machine and didn't have any taste at all. The café itself looked run down and there were very few people inside. Also expensive for what it was. Don't think we'll be visiting again when we are next in the area.

Nice and comfy with friendly service

Visited Seahouses after a recommendation from family that had been here before. It was quite a warm day so me and my boyfriend decided to get ice cream.The man serving us (dark hair and tanned) was very rude. Asked for a 99p whippy with strawberry sauce which he handed me with the sauce already dripping down the cone.. asked if they accepted card and he said no so while my boyfriend was going to get cash out the guy gave me the second ice cream and said I’m going to serve the customer behind you before I had even finished my order! While waiting the ice cream dripped onto my hands and all over my jeans. None of the staff offered to help. Asked for napkins inside and the lady gave us two clearly seeing I was covered in ice cream!! She was also on her phone when we asked.The ice cream got chucked in the bin in the end as it was inedible.Nice ice cream but rude staff.. need to sort this out! Won’t be going back. Big disappointment.

We got ice-cream from the takeaway counter outside. The man in front asked for a gluten-free cone so I asked my mam if she wanted one (she's gluten-free too). We've never seen a shop selling gluten free cones before so this was great news. The cone was fab, and the lady was lovely. Despite the cones being slightly smaller than normal size, she still gave a full portion of whippy ice cream in it. There's a small sign in the window saying they have gluten free cones, but they could definitely advertise this more as it's such a rarity. All the ice-cream was lovely, and generous portions. The lady serving was also lovely. We'll definitely be back!

Positives ....... lovely ice cream sundaes Negatives, there were approx 5/6 staff and only 1 lady actually doing anything (long hair, side pony tail, lovely friendly smile and she was very welcoming). Tables were sticky, ice cream dripping off main bar area. Staff should not be stood around talking when the seating area isn’t clean. One table was cleared but the table was not wiped clean! Failure in basics really! Sorry but if I owned this cafe I would be kicking my staff into action, clearly they haven’t complete a basic hygiene course

Breakfast poor and despite ordering the Full English it arrived minus mushrooms and when questioned about the lack of our fungi friends were told "oh yes we know but the shop round the corner is not open yet for us to get some" Would have been nice for them to actually tell us and maybe apologise or even offer an alternative option, but that would be too much to ask, just like bringing your order to your table.

Visited Coxons for a milkshake after a a day at the beach and was very impressed! Delicious food and the service was even better. The staff were friendly and attentive. Would recommend!

We have been staying in Seahouses for several years now for our summer holiday. Each year we go in Coxons for a lovely milkshake. In the past the staff have been friendly and welcoming. This year we went. We didn’t know if we’d get a seat inside, as it was so busy outside with a large que for ice creams (it was a hot day). We went in and there was no one in there due to the heat probably and only the need for ice cream which people were getting from the outside window. We ordered our milkshakes which were made reasonably quickly. Our first concern was the fact we had metal straws. We understand the need to replace plastic ones, but how do the metal ones get cleaned? Not very well judging by what we saw after. Whilst drinking our milkshake we watched the three young girls washing up behind the counter. I can only imagine that it was a very small sink that was probably only used for rinsing things out, but between three of them was washing up everything. I can’t imagine the water being hot enough to wash up sufficiently. All three had long hair which was tied back or in plaits, but was so long it still hung all over the things that had been washed. The one who was drying up dried up with a tea towels and her plait also went in the cup with it. Another girl who was doing the washing up was clearly hot and promptly wiped all up her arms and over her face with a tea towel that was being used for drying up. She saw that we was watching her and rushed off into the back. A shame really, as it’s a really nice place to go for a drink, but the hygiene needs some attention and staff training.

Unbelievable! The service was appalling. I never saw three of the laziest people in my life. Friends quickly asked for a new tea and requested to seep it on their own after the server squeezed the teabag with his fingers. The scone was dry and tasteless. Although the ice cream sundae was tasty after scooping all the ingredients that were dripping down the side of the dish, I will not be back.

First I would like to say the sundae was good apart from appearances as it was sliding down the side of the glass. The tea and scone was awful. The tea was made before being served and teabag squeezed out by the waiters fingers and the scone was overheated in a microwave. The jam was offered over the counter by the steel bowl.

Took more than 20 min to get 2 panninis and a toastie, all of which were burned. Staff seemed uninterested and to avoid working, hanging around in the back. Might be better to only serve what you are good at, so the business should focus on ice cream and leave sandwiches off the menu

Went yesterday. Rude staff in tea room. Sundaes didn't contain any proper ice cream - it was just cake and sauce in milky gunge. Overpriced.

I'm sure the food is lovely but they should make it clear when they aren't serving sundaes and shakes. my daughter left there very disappointed.

My family and I stopped here yesterday for ice cream before heading back to the car. The girl who served us was lovely and friendly. Our ice creams were delicious, loved the different flavours coming out in swirls on the ice cream. Just fancied a classic one and it really hit the spot, thank you!

Lovely ice cream. A bit pricey, but worth it as a treat.

On a hot, humid, muggy afternoon, I needed to be cooled down and refreshed, but didn't want a drink, so I thought an ice cream would do the job. A little pricey for what it was, but a large tub with a mint "flavour burst" did the trick

A regular stop for us during weekends in Seahouses - the ice-cream is always of good quality and the service with a smile. Kid love the flavour burst option!

My friends and I had ice creams, one was a coke float which all went down singing hymns!!! Nice staff we had a laugh or two whilst there so all in all very fair 😊

We go on holiday to Seahouses every year and every single time we go I always get an icecream from Coxon’s. The vanilla icecream is absolutely delicious. I recommend visiting here.

Didn't look much from the outside but lovely whippy style ice cream, nice filter coffee and strawberry milkshake. The extravagant desserts looked canny good.

Had a mint choc chip freak shake and it was amazing. Group of five came in and had the mud pie and caramel freak shakes and looked so good. Definitely recommend for a treat

This is a hidden gem of a place for coffee and a sandwich. This is an ice cream parlour with a kiosk frontage onto the street and serves wonderful ice creams in a variety of cones (standard, waffle, sugar etc.). There is always a queue at the ice cream window.

Lovely coffee served wuth a smile a or the cafe in Seahouses in the morning then spotted their ice cream van in a mini at Bamburgh Castle car park so had a to test a 99. It was very large and delcious. Yum

We always have a visit here when in the area as their ice cream is lovely. Cones are generous and there are lots of options to add sauces and different types on cone to you choice of ice cream. Recommended.

This place did really tasty ice cream- highly recommended! The lady who served us was incredibly friendly.

Used to be lovely when they used the ice cream from the machine but now use scoop ice cream not as nice now recommend go back to their delicious ice cream from the machine. Shakes are awesome!

Amazing freak shakes, lovely and very filling, great place, kids loved it too

This is an amazing place, calling it a coffee bar is misleading. Serves the most incredible freak shakes that are works of art and taste as good as they look. Highly recommend a visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. Prices are very good.

I have eaten Coxons ice creams for fifty years, and the vans look like they are doing better than me! The coffee is nice the ice cream delicious as always, but the friendly staff have gone.

Visited here whilst on day trip to Seahouses. We decided to sit in as it was very hot out and wanted a wee break from sun. Ice cream was lovely creamy whippy and you can choose your sauce. Good selection of bakes, coffees, cold drinks, freakshakes and specials. Would certainly visit again if in the area. A busy wee place with seating along counter area and some other tables.

We were here on holiday in Seahouses for a week and we frequently came here for the sundaes and waffles. Very friendly service and reasonably good value. Would recommend.

We have been going to Coxons for a 99 waffle cone for years. Excellent ice cream probably the best in the North East, definitely the best in Seahouses

We walked past this busy ice cream shop and couldn’t resist trying one. There was a long queue but that did not deter us. The cornets were huge- you get generous swirls of ice cream, really thick and creamy. Tasted just delicious. I am not normally an ice cream person but this was just yummie and filling. Definitely got my vote and great value for money too. You’ll see their vans locally - do try one and you won’t be disappointed

My bestfriend and I went in for one of their freak shakes and it was delicious, it lived up to the rest of the positive reviews I had read online. Definitely a place to for a refreshing drink and we are definitely going back for more.

Called in to warm up and dry up a bit after a very wet and windy walk from Beadnell. Glad we did, the cakes were gorgeous and the coffee very welcome. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our friends always come here when on holiday in the area, it was our first visit but wont be the last.

This is an upmarket Mr Whippy - with added flavour. Smooth, soft and creamy. We had a large ice cream in a waffle cone, came dressed with wafers and chocolate sticks. They were LARGE! Lovely to eat by the sea. Better than the ice cream vans! Delicious!

Was dashing to the public toilets near Coxan's and my 3 year old started crying as 'it was coming out', so I had to (shamefully) let him have a tinkle on the side street pavement next to the side of Coxan's. The owner came out and informed me there was a toilet further on (looking disgused at me and my child). I explained I new this but he was busting, is only 3 years old and I am embarrassed we have had to do this. She continued to look at me and said nothing, so I asked what her recommendation would be in this scenario... to let him wee in his trousers? She look at me (still disgusted) pointing at his wee and said 'but look'. Unbelievable. It was in front of people and very embarrassing for me and my poor boy. If a child needs to go they need to go and shouldn't be humiliated in front of people. He is 3 years old. Rude, embarrassing, uncalled for and just not nice.
