Just visited with my mam for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely lovely. The staff are great and very attentive, soup was amazing (broccoli and blue cheese) and the main was fantastic. Loads of different vegetables which is nice to see and the gravy was to die for. We were also treated to some lovely singing by Pablo who I assume is the owner. Great experience, highly recommend!

Delivery driver very friendly, fast service. Food was lovely at the point of eating it but fast forward a few hours and I had food poisoning confirmed by the doctor which took days to settle. Tried to call up to let them know, not to ask for any replacements but just to let them know what had occurred. Foods normally spot on but I'm a bit dubious now. Sadly I don't think I'll order again. It was the pork Sunday dinner that I had. (I hadn't eaten anything else that day and food poisoning confirmed by GP)

Absolutely magnificent food, service and atmosphere. The fillet steaks and lasagne were to die for. Children made very welcome and accommodated. Pablo is a star And the girls waiting on were outstanding. This is the place to dine. Fabulous menu and wines.

The worst calamari I have ever had, doughy batter around squid that had turned to mush. Followed by pasta with rubbery king prawns and in a sauce that looked to have been reheated rather than fresh. Wouldn't go back.

Been a few times for food, all delicious. Sunday lunches we had roast beef and roast chicken both served with a Hugh Yorkshire pudding, a good selection of veg and lashings of gravy. My husband has had the burgers, said the best he’s had. Also tried the scotch egg in haggis with the soft centre which was fantastic. And to finish of homemade cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding, that were excellent. Definitely recommend.

Poor quality food. Vegetable were under cooked and just warm. Leek and potato soup was hot, but more potato than leek. Coffee was not hot. Drafty seating to left of entrance.

Well worth the drive good food and service always had good food here. I started with a scotch egg in haggis I am amazed how you have a lovely soft boiled egg. This was followed by a giant Yorkshire pudding containing a lamb stew and lovely cream mash

Food is very good and the mix grill is a monster of a meal. Garden is beautiful. Kids love it you would be a fool not to try this place. Just been took over by some new people they know what they are doing all round brilliant place 2nd time here love it !!

Dropped in without booking. It was a Sunday and we luckily got at a table. The place was not as busy as we expected. Young polite staff made you feel welcome. Ordered the beef and pork Sunday lunches both came out hot and plentiful. Asked if there was anything else we required sauces etc. Two types of potatoes, turnip, carrots, cabbage, parsnip and a good sized Yorkshire pudding accompanied a fair size portion of meat and delicious gravy. When it came to dessert my husband chose the apple crumble with custard. Within minutes he was told that the chef was not happy how the apple crumble had turned out and would he like to make a different choice. This reassured us that the chef had high standards. My husband chose the sticky toffee pudding which was very light with plenty of custard. The phone never stopped for bookings whilst we were there and people were coming in to make bookings also. Possibly not as busy as they were trying to protect their clients by social distancing due to COVID. It's out of the way from where we live but if we were passing then yes we would stop and hopefully get a table again.

A place to find and try, just off the main road so put your satnav on. Have been meaning to try this pub for a while and it is worth a visit. An old style pub with a car park opposite and just passed. Called in for a drink and a look at the menu, didn't take long to order food, a very good selection and a specials board, don't eat for 24hrs. before you go if you're a mixed grill person. Food we had was excellent, friendly staff, a good experience all round.

It is more than a a couple of years since we were last here It is now under new management and has only been reopened for a couple of weeks. I have to say this is the best food I have had in a pub for years and to top it off the service was excellent too. We met our friends for some food and well we all had different meals and everyone was excellent but more than that the welcome and service was exceptional this place could be an diamond. The Blue Bell has just reopened under new management with new staff and a new chef, so we thought we would check it out. Only my husband opted to have a starter, the chicken liver pâté, which came with crispy toast and red onion jam. He said it was good and he certainly polished it off quickly! For mains he had the Cumberland ring which was served with creamy mash, gravy and broccoli. The rest of us had burgers, two Tex Mex, which came with Cajun fries, one falafel burger and one Sloppy Joe. All were served with fries and a pot of homemade coleslaw which was quite a vibrant pink, not sure whether the colour was due to the use of red cabbage or beetroot, either way it was very good with fresh and crunchy cabbage. I always think that chips are a great indication of the quality and these were excellent, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The Cajun fries were a great hit with the younger members of the party who had chosen the tex mex. The burgers are enormous! I had the sloppy Joe which had two beef patties layered in with chilli sauce, jalapeños, tortilla chips and the most delicious creamy cheese sauce all skewered together in a brioche burger bun. We all agreed that this was top notch food, although it was so filling that only the son with hollow legs had room for dessert, choosing the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, which he ate up with relish. We were very pleased with our delicious meal which was very reasonably priced and served by the new landlady, Lisa who was friendly and attentive. So - great news! The Blue Bell is alive and kicking and better than ever! This food really is a step up and I expect it will be busy as people catch on to how good it is, so probably best to book your table before you set out.

We love the Blue Bell, but don't live locally so come when we visit family. The latest management have made an amazing job of making the pub even better, the old stable building outside was fabulous, quirky and somewhere I would hire for a party. Pub always welcoming and a beautiful countryside setting, unfortunately this was the last night as manager was moving on. We have been to a few last night's, such a shame when it's such a great pub.

This is a lovely family run pub that always give people a welcoming smile and makes sure everyone is safe. The food has been excellent every time we have been and so has the service Amanda and coral are amazing hosts and definitely not a place to miss off your list.

Tasty homemade food friendly staff worth going out of the Way to give a visit

Visited here on a Sunday however as it was late they had run out of Sunday roast so ordered from main menu. I had vegetarian lasagne and partner had sausage and mash. Both meals tasty and reasonably priced as were the drinks. Good friendly and attentive service from staff too.

If you get the weather the garden is lovely. Wherever you sit the food is excellent. Good value, good food, decent portions. I had Sunday dinners take away during the COVID lockdown and they were great. Even better eaten on the premises. The service is very good and the atmosphere very welcoming.

Wow what a little diamond we went along for nice quite drink and well the welcome was excellent the place was clean and the staff were so friendly. So we decided to book for Sunday dinner and I am so glad we did it’s the best food we have had in a pub for years all fresh vegetables plenty of them too the meat was excellent with lots a choices. My son had the rainbow cake it could have done three people but it tasted amazing. If your after good food excellent service mixed with some lovely humour this is for you.

Our family of five had Sunday lunch at the Blue Bell to check out the cooking of the new chef. I am glad to say it was delicious! I had roast venison which was moist and tender, cooked to perfection!It came with spicy sauce with a whole chilli garnish, which was fiery, but not too fiery. The veg was good too, the thick hand cut chips and cauliflower cheese were particularly delicious. For dessert I chose the sticky toffee pudding which came with rich creamy custard. This is sticky toffee pudding at its best! Lots of dates and dark treacly sauce. I feel happy to recommend the Blue Bell, the new management is great and the new chef cooks lovely food. The service was friendly and the food came promptly. Altogether, very good value.

Speechless.The pictures are thousands words themselves, I use to go to the blue bell every Sunday for my lunch where you can see on the left it was beautiful. Once it was re opened and a change of hands I re went with the same expectations. However, on the the right you can see the large difference. Not only was it disgusting, it took an hour for what?The mash was lumpy, the beef was sandwich meat quality ,portions small and was cold .Seems more like a half arsed attempt.

Very disappointed with Sunday Lunch, ordered 2 beef dinners, waited almost an hour for it to arrive, beef was tasteless & it seemed like the plate had been heated up in a microwave & then left standing, the tiny portion of mash potato was lumpy, vegetable selection was ok, but just ok. Yorkshire pudding was cold.The girls working their were lovely & apologetic however we will not be back

We stopped over for Sunday lunch, four adults.We ordered 4 roast beef, the portions were extremely small (one folded thin slice) although the veg portion’s were small too, the selection was quite good.I would have complained but was deterred from doing so, as not to create a fuss. All four of us decided we would never go back.

Me and my boyfriend travelled an hour to watch my brother play rugby and decided to find a local pub to call in so we stopped in here. It was amazing !! Honestly one of the best lunches I've had in ages !! We both got the roast of the day baguettes and they were delicious!! The only thing was there was a bit of a wait but we weren't the only ones eating and to be fair it was well worth it! Honestly I've never raved so much over a sandwich but it was that good the gentleman behind the bar was really great and went and got me extra gravy! We visited today for Sunday Lunch as a party of four having booked a few days earlier, upon arrival we were seated at a nice table and given menus from which we chose 3 beef and one pork Sunday lunch. I got drinks at the bar then we waited....waited some more....and after about 30 to 40 minutes after we had ordered I asked the server if they had any idea when our food would be ready and I was simply told soon so I sat back at the table and waited... and waited some more...I had also noted that there were other diners that had arrived after us were served and still we waited. Then a server came and told us that they had given our food to another table and ours would be ready soon, no apology just an explanation. So we waited.... and waited some more... and then about 1 hour after we had placed our order our food arrived this time with an apology for the delay. The food was OK I have had both better and worse locally but by this time the wait had spoiled the day. Upon leaving and paying I advised the bar staff about the terrible service, she seemed surprised but offered no discount or free drink which may have helped. All in all when they only seemed to have 12 tables to deal with and when we arrived they were not all full nor when we left. I think that this length of delay is unacceptable.

Arrived in Stocksfield on Friday 18 Jan 19 and went to The Blue Bell for some food in the evening. We had a wonderful meal and were totally full and couldn't manage to finish either of our meals, which was a real shame as it was delicious.I would highly recommend this lovely village pub for either a meal or a drink as we returned on the Sunday for a late afternoon drink.

Had one of the best home cooked pub meals we have had in a long time! The lamb shank is amazing, melt in the mouth with great sides. Our children also really enjoyed their food and asked to go back the following week. Really large portions and we will be returning soon to try their Sunday lunch.

The food was so good we decided to indulge in dessert Bailey's Creme Brûlée with cinnamon ice cream and home made rhubarb crumble with creme anglaise; both fantastic! There's real ale on tap and a nice selection of gins..... highly recommend

My wife and I regularly visit the Blue Bell and have just had the brisket which was perfect! We have never been disappointed since Mark and Stuart took over.
