Gurkha Oven

Spalding St John's, South Holland
17/06/2019: It had been a little while since our last visit, but we were certainly not disappointed. The buffet was new to us but we stayed with the a la carte menu which gave us the opportunity to try 2 dishes that were new to us. The food was excellent as it always has been on previous visits. The service was good and staff friendly and attentive. Top marks!
06/06/2019: This setting has never been disappointing. Staff friendly and food fresh and hot. No access for mobility impaired as it is on the first floor.

Rose Of Bengal

Castle Donington, North West Leicestershire, <20£
15/06/2019: Great place who are happy to cater for allergies, I realise going into different cuisines and having a chilli allergy can be very annoying for chefs - as well as making me feel like a spanner. However, they are such friendly people who had no problem to cater for me. I had a plain boiled mushroom rice, with prawns and some chips. No seasoning on the rice, cooked absolutely beautifully. Really enjoyed the meal with a group of friends.
26/05/2019: Ate with friends while attending the nearby race circuit. Quite simply the best meal I have ever had in an Indian restaurant. The starters were light and exquisite, with the tandoori fish being the stand out. Simply sublime.

The Pack Horse

Hayfield, High Peak, <20£
12/06/2019: Having read various reviews and as relative locals (Glossop area) we decided to give The Packhorse a try for our anniversary meal, it did not disappoint. Dishes were all of excellent quality and very well presented. Emma and the staff were attentive and friendly but not hurrying, so we enjoyed taking in the pub atmosphere at leisure. Luke's food is of a very high standard and he deserves credit for using local and sustainable suppliers, always important to us 'locals'. The Packhorse is marketed as a gastro-pub so the prices are higher than run of the mill pub grub, but you get what you pay for and we'd not hesitate to visit again for something special. Say hello to Lola, and thank you!
07/06/2019: The staff were really friendly and helpful. The decor was lovely and the food divine. Highly recommended!

Aladdin's

Castle, Northampton
16/06/2019: I had high hopes after seeing all the reviews here but sadly found this to be no different to many other similar restaurants. Ordered a takeaway for collection, it was ready on time and was good and hot. Pleasant staff.
12/06/2019: Called to place an order this evening and the lovely gentlemen said just to pull up outside as it was raining heavily and also added free poppadoms to the order. Food was wonderful but the act of kindness made it even better. Thankyou ❤

Serendipity at The Priory

St James', East Lindsey
14/06/2019: The tasting menu has to be had to believe it. Seven courses of amazing plates with Paul's unique touch of herbs spices and imagination. There are no words to describe the enjoyment each plate brought and just the right size so that you have room for the next one.
19/05/2019: An overnight stay with the taster menu is a must for the lovers of all things interesting, rare and historic. The Priory offers a wonderfully ramshackle step back into the surroundings of a small country house hotel, still with the grandeur and personal service you will not get at main stream corporate venue. If you are looking for that, then don't go here. But if you are looking for an experience of truly wonderful food and surroundings which are interesting and eclectic, then book and enjoy. The grounds are open to guests and a visit to the Natural Spring fed pond is worth seeing, as it the force the spring still has, and the beauty of what we thought was a summer house, which is in fact the mausoleum of one of the founders. Paul and his team are a force to be topped by anywhere else I have stayed. The evening was topped off by a surprise Birthday Cake for my partner that we were able to share with others in the Hall dinning room. An amazing touch, and this being remembered from the booking made with Paul and an unexpected demonstration of the values and detail the team will go to. Book and enjoy.

Maazi Indian Restaurant

Hathersage and Eyam, Derbyshire Dales
10/06/2019: Maazi is always a must for us when we visit the Peak District. Coming from West London where there is such a big choice of Indian food we love the twists they make to their traditional dishes. Where else would you get a beetroot and coconut samosa, taxi driver curry or Aunty Pavern’s fish curry. The service is always very attentive and even when they are really busy you don’t have to wait long to be served.
08/06/2019: Whilst staying in Hathersage with a group of cyclists we had a meal at Maazi’s. We received a warm welcome on arrival and shown to our table straight away. The menu had something for everybody, the food was delicious and well presented and the service was excellent. I would definitely return to Maazi on a return visit to hathersage.

Hassop Hall

Litton and Longstone, Derbyshire Dales
08/06/2019: We’ve been coming to Hassop hall for decades! My partners family for over 40 years. It’s one of those special places rarely exist these days. For us it’s like being back on the QE2! In fact I’m often searching for my sea legs whilst dining in the amazing splendour of this fantastic family run hotel. We will miss you more than. You will ever know! The food, wine and service is always above our expectations Thank you!
11/04/2019: We are so sadden by the news that this lovely hotel is closing its doors in September. We booked to stay here for our 20th wedding anniversary in October, but were shocked when we were informed while booking a table for dinner, that it would be closing it's doors to the public & was being retuned back into a private residence. We arrived last month for a 4 course meal on the Friday night & we weren't disappointed! The greeting we received was warm & friendly, the nibbles, the décor, the atmosphere & the good old fashioned opulence was wonderful. Everything we had hoped for, we could taste, touch, see & smell & took it all in with relish. Signs sadly of a bygone era. I wish we had discovered this beautiful hotel & it's delights sooner! Thank you so much to everyone for making our visit very special indeed. Good luck to all the staff concerned & we hope they will all be as happy in their future careers as we hope they have been at Hassop Hall.

The Tea House in the Woods

Woodhall Spa, East Lindsey
18/06/2019: We decided to try this lovely looking place as we were staying in Woodhall Spa. We were just going to have a a light snack but the menu looked so good we decided to have main meals, a burger and a carbonara.
16/06/2019: We called in on a wander around woodhall spa looking for somewhere to get a cup of tea, as we walked in it appeared this was not your usual tea rooms, very attentive and polite waiter Simon asked us if we had booked which we hadn’t, but was happy to find us a table anyway, after having a look at the menu there was no way we could just get a cup of tea. I ended up having the poacher ploughman’s which was fantastic, my girlfriend a jacket potato, and our friends shared an afternoon tea. As mentioned before Simon was excellently polite, and accommodated us changing our minds after ordering without issue. We spoke with three staff members in total and it’s clear they are given proper training and are glad to be of service.

Rajas

Bakewell, Derbyshire Dales
18/06/2019: Meal was okay, nothing to particularly rave about. The restaurant is a little tired and needs updating. However, very busy when we were there. Service was okay.
16/06/2019: These guys were awesome, really went the extra mile for us! We were new to the area and arrived late so there was no food and they chucked us a curry together to collect right at closing time. So, so appreciative, and the food was gorgeous. Thanks again to the lovely staff for helping us out!
