A traditional country pub with simple, hearty, traditional food cooked beautifully. Ken, the landlord is friendly, amenable and know how serve a decent pint. It’s some years since we last visited and we are delighted to have made a return visit.

What a find We had the best steak in a long time It’s a lovely old fashioned pub with lots of charm and we were made very welcome I would recommend paying a visit and to have a fantastic meal

They really do a fantastic rib eye steak. It hits the spot every time. The rest of the party suggest that other excellent food is also available.

This is our first time visiting, and, after booking at last minute on a busy evening, we were fitted in by the extremely accommodating staff - nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was second to none, not only generous portions but also generous pricing. We had 2 filet steaks and they were the best we've had in a long time. The atmosphere felt homely and welcoming. We couldn't find anything to fault at The Bull Inn. Fantastic Food, Beer and Prices... what's not to like!

Booked a night away and came for dinner at the Bull Inn. They were so friendly and welcoming, considering we thought we’d booked and we hadn’t booked the right place! The food was incredible, homely and generous portions! We will definitely plan to come again.

First time at The Bull Inn, South Kelsey. We had heard alot about the good reviews regarding the food and the service here, so decided to visit and try. From the moment we arrived, we were given 5star service. The staff and the Proprietor were extremely friendly and made us very welcome. We ordered food and were impressed not only with the portion size, but with the qaulity of the food also. Excellent food, superb menu choice and very reasonably priced. We cannot express how good our food was. Fantastic steaks and wonderful fresh produce sourced locally. Thank you everyone at the Bull Inn. We will be back!

Very warm welcoming traditional country pub. We both had the Shrimp sambuca for appetizers - Absolutely divine! Followed by Sirloin and Fillet steak - Cooked to perfection. The team are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Good hand pulled beers on offer as well as a good wine list. Cannot wait to go back and try out other options on the menu. Very good value

We had a lovely meal here last week. The food is all prepared and cooked fresh, and it was way above pub food standards. Not too expensive either. The staff were friendly and the beer was good. Will definately be going back.

Pubs like The Bull Inn are a dying breed, but an essential part of the local economy that we locals should frequent. We chose the salmon and the chicken dishes and both were very good. The host and his staff are most welcoming and accommodating. I could sit here for half an hour trying to find a fault but it would probably be a window frame or something in the car park. :-)

Great food , relaxed atmosphere and Ken the owner was a fantastic and witty host, welcoming us us all. Look out for ‘Richard Revealed’ on the desert menu !!!

The bull is our local and serves the best steaks anywhere. This visit was on a Thursday evening and the pub was not too busy. If you intend dining here on a Friday or Saturday night, please book in advance as it is can be fully booked. Words cannot describe just how good the steaks are here, you have to try them for yourself. If you do not like steak, the rest of the menu offerings are not to be missed either. I just find it hard to look beyond the steaks. On draught at the bar is Birra Moretti for the lager offering and Bombardier for the ale, along with Guinness and cider. There are also many bottled beers and ciders to choose from along with a good selection of wines. Please note the pub is closed Monday, open Tuesday, but just for drinks, so dining is Wednesday to Saturday, and Sunday opening for drinks only at lunch time.

A lovely friendly pub. A cheerful owner and his son as chef. I'm pleased we gave it a try. The rump and ribeye steaks were great, in fact I would say as tasty as M&C. From Lincoln Red beef herd. We will go again. Oh, the warmed Brie wedge and garni was excellent.

We spent a birthday evening, our first time here and had a genuinely fantastic time. We felt incredibly comfortable, warmly looked after and enjoyed fantastic food. The wine list is broad but well priced and the food was fantastic and competitively so. We will absolutely return and would recommend!

I tried this place for the first time with my husband and friends, as it had been recommended to us previously. I have to say, it lived up to all expectations! I'm quite embarrassed that after ten years in the area, this was my first time at The Bull Inn, I can't understand how it's managed to get under my radar. Anyway, I'm the one who's lost out judging by last night's excellent meal. Everything about the dining experience was excellent to be honest, a warm welcome from the landlord, a really pleasant dining ambience, and outstanding food. My wife chose the rump steak and asked for it cooked medium; it arrived exactly as requested. I opted for the Franklin Chicken, the word Franklin referring to the blue stilton and garlic sauce. I had vegetables and new potatoes with that. (They could sell that sauce in jars at Fortnum & Mason for £20 a pop, easily. It was so so good.) So, from walking in the door to bidding goodbye, a faultless performance from this pub, and especially from the chef. Really outstanding cooking.

We were attracted to eat at The Bull Inn by its 5* reviews on Trip Advisor. We weren’t disappointed. The food was excellent - pub food doesn’t get better than this. My rump steak really was rare, just as I had asked for. The meal was also great value, with affordable wine. In addition, we were made very welcome, as was our spaniel. Definitely recommended: we will return.

Visited the bull for a meal for 4 people. Absolutely amazing food ,atmosphere and staff. Plenty of choice , And plentiful. Starter ,mains,and dessert was tasty and well cooked. We have eaten in many establishments and the bull always comes out tops . The Bull Inn is one of the few remaining gems in the pub world. Run by a fantastic Landlord - Ken. The local residents are lovely people and make you feel extremely welcome. The food is fantastic, with the Sambuca & Chilli Prawns and the Steak been the highlight for me. Hats off to the locals, the Chef and to Ken.

Great village friendly pub with a great selection of draught and bottled beers. The landlord Ken made us feel very welcome and his knowledge of bottled beers and recommendations is second to none. We went as our friends have informed us it is the best place for steaks in the area. They were right, the meat is local and the cooking and presentation superb. My son and daughter in law took me here for a meal and it was one of the nicest I have had anywhere. The pub is very friendly, not too big, so booking is advisable. But the quality of the food is outstanding with a special mention for the steaks.

This is a very friendly pub with a great ambiance. We were made to feel very welcome by landlord and local punters alike, and the food was excellent, locally sourced and beautifully cooked. You would have to go a long way for a steak of this quality - and although there was only one vegetarian option it too was prepared with the same care and attention. Also have to mention the chips, which were superb!

Just have to say was in the bull inn last night . The welcome we received by the staff was great, and when the food arrived it was presented well and the taste of the food was fantastic. What a local should be. Go there for fish and chips often as the cheff does perfect gluten free batter for the grimsby haddock. Other guests say the pork and steaks perfect as well.

Delightful premises - spotlessly clean and fresh 18th Century pub without silly knick-knacks or flim -flam. Small menu indicating that everything is freshly cooked. Excellent beer (according to husband), friendly locals in bar, friendly landlords. Really great food, perfectly cooked. Faultless service. Remote location but good to twin with walk in wolds or visit to Hemswell Market.

En nuestra caravana visitamos el local, El Toro, en el sur de Kelsey, por el mero hecho de su reputación y buenas críticas. Los dos disfrutamos de nuestras comidas de carne, solomillo y chuletón, mientras otro diner con entusiasmo la sopa de stilton recomendado. Importante para mí era el sabor de la verdadera cerveza y estaba en muy buena forma. Después de una noche en su aparcamiento seguro viajamos.

This small 17th century country pub and restaurant in the historical village of South Kelsey at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds is "shamazing" to quote 'Nichole Sherzinger' with excellent food that is second to none!

Been here several times. It's a homely pub/restaurant and you are made to feel welcome. The steaks are always good as is all the other dishes.Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. A nice place to take someone special to you.I recommend you call first as they don't always serve food and it can get busy.

The Bull Inn is actually my local, but only for the last 3 years since we moved to South Kelsey. We have always dined out frequently, but had never visited the Bull until we moved here, even though a few people at work had recommended it to me. It is without doubt one of the best kept secrets on dining out. It is a very old small country coaching inn, but the food and ale is second to none. The steaks are all Aberdeen Angus supplied by Petits, the well renowned quality butchers. I can personally vouch for all of the steaks on offer, having tried them all many times apart from the T bone, which I have never attempted due to it's size! Whatever you choose on the menu, you will not be disappointed and the fish and chips is also very good. It is not a buy one get one free type place, it is quality and the average price for a main course is around £12 with steaks priced between £16 and £23. The starters and puddings are also very good, with special mention reserved for the sticky toffee pudding, which is a pudding I never had until I went to the Bull. We have been to the Bull many times now and have never been disappointed, also taking family and friends who come to visit us and their reaction is always the same, when can we go again! This November I held my long service celebration meal at the pub and they managed to cater for 22 of us all at the same, with 18 out of the 22 opting for steaks and everyone impressed with the quality of the food served. But it is normally a quiet and peaceful country Inn! Ken and Judy are great hosts and the food and drink must be tried or you are missing out! The Bull serves meals from a Tuesday evening through to and including Saturday evening from 6pm onwards. It does not open at lunchtime apart from a Sunday (12-3pm). We have been pretty much every night of the week at some time or other and the quality and service has always been to the same high standard. We used to travel to the Brackenborough for a good steak and still do occasionally, but now we just have to walk down the road!

Saturday night and had been out on the bike for a couple of hours dropped in a bit late hoping for some food was made very welcome by the host and one of the locals.There was plenty to choose from the menu and a great selection of stakes,We had the 10oz rump with all the trimmings it was delicious and the service second to none.Atmosphere warming and comfortable we will be dropping in here again loved it. wish it was closer to home would definitely be my local many thanks Heather and Paul.

Absolutely disgusting service. Ordered a rare fillet steak, it came out hardly blue. Told the staff it was under cooked, them was brought a rump. After telling the waitress it was a rump, I was told I wasn't hungry when I first came in so how would I know. I have honestly never been treated so disgustingly in my life. I would strongly recommend to NOT try this restaurant.

5 of us went for a meal here mid week. All of us had different main meals - steak, chicken, salmon, gammon, fish and chips and we were all very happy with our choices.Lovely atmosphere and the sticky toffee pudding was amazing.

Our neice and husband have just moved to South Kelsey and this has become their 'Local'. Four of us went for a meal last night and the food was excellent. Stilton and Broccoli soup delicious and steaks cooked to perfection. The landlord, Ken and wife were very welcoming. Atmospheric pub in the small village of South Kelsey, good bar and an excellent selection of dishes majoring on local Lincolnshire produce. Steaks are a speciality that are a delight, we both had a rump beautifully cooked medium rare served with great chips and fresh veg, you could not beat the flavour and texture of the well hung beef.Situated well off the beaten track, near to Market Rasen, the Bull is well worth a phone call before you go as it is very popular with the locals!

Sadly, we had no alternative but to withdraw our first review of this pub for the following reasons: the first night we visited the Bull was on a Friday and we were encouraged to find a busy pub, a reasonably good menu with well cooked, well presented food, many of the ingredients being locally sourced and of good quality (and we were pleased to find this place as good pubs in the Market Rasen area are virtually non-existent) .However, the second time we went, which was midweek, the experience was completely different. Not only was there a reduced menu but what came out of the kitchen bore no resemblance to what we had eaten a couple of weeks before – quite frankly, it had been murdered! A pub that is trying to be something a bit out of the ordinary cannot afford to turn out such vastly variable results. We very much enjoyed what we experienced on our first visit but I’m afraid that our subsequent experience has put us off completely, which is sad, because we really need somewhere good to eat in this area.

The food in this modest pub, in a quiet Lincolnshire village, was recommended to us by the owner of the cottage where we were staying on holiday. We found it to have a cosy, friendly atmosphere with food which fully justified the recommendation. The seared king scallops with black pudding were simply but perfectly prepared and a delightful starter. My Gammon steak and my wife’s battered haddock were excellent but you needed a good appetite to cope with the generous portions. The blended European house red, a recommendation of the very amiable waitress, I approached with caution but it was superb and particularly appealing at the price.We rather wish we had found this hostelry earlier in our holiday because we would certainly have made another visit.
